Ronnie L. Overby
The funeral for Ronnie Lee Overby, 52, of Stuart, who died Sept. 19, 2005, was held Thursday at Moody Funeral Home chapel. The Rev. J.R. Shelton, Brother Cecil Simmons and Preacher Tommy Nichols officiated. Burial was in Patrick Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were David Penn, Mark Covington, Jason Pendleton, Ronnie Martin, Randy Overby, Larry Overby, Derrick Smith, Justin Collins, Daine Tilley and Shaine Tilley.

Posey L. Overton
A private graveside service for Posey Lester Overton, 80, of Martinsville, who died Sept. 20, 2005, was held Thursday at Henry Memorial Park with the Rev. J.D. Harmon officiating.
military honors were conducted by the Martinsville-Henry County Veterans Honor Guard and the flag presentation was by the Army Reserve of Salem.
Pallbearers were Robert Triplett, Jim Ingram, Junior Hopkins, James Moore, Derek Young and William Young.
Arrangements were by McKee-Stone Funeral Services.

Leonard L. Scales
The funeral for Leonard Levern Scales, 50, of Martinsville, who died Sept. 18, 2005, was held Thursday at Stanfield-Miller Funeral Home chapel. Elders Richard Martin and Leon Gravely officiated. Burial was in the Pearl Johnson Cemetery at Spencer.
Pallbearers were Perry Price, Mario Travis, Ricky Cobbs, Lloyd Scales, Shawndell Johnson and Leon Scales.

Harold W. Spencer
Harold W. "Junior" Spencer, 75, of Fieldale, died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005, at his home.
He was born in Patrick County on Aug. 24, 1930, to Clayton Willard Spencer and Ollie Stone Spencer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, H.W. Spencer.
He was a member of Hill Memorial Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Sadie Spencer of the home; a son, Doug Spencer of the home; a daughter, Jackie Covington of Collinsville; a brother, Elder Jimmy Spencer of Fieldale; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday at Hill Memorial Baptist Church.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the church with the Rev. Robert Gillispie officiating. Burial will be in Old Center Primitive Baptist Church cemetery.
Arrangements are by Bassett Funeral Service.

Janet H. Donavant
Janet Marilyn Hayden Donavant, 65, of 1305 Chatham Heights, Martinsville, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, at her home.
She was born Sept. 6, 1940, in the Callands community of Pittsylvania County, to Kathleen McNealy Hayden and Charlie R. Hayden.
She graduated from Callands High School in 1958. After graduating from Radford College in 1962, she began teaching first, second and third grades in Martinsville Schools, from which she retired in 1995 after 32 years.
She had been a member of Starling Avenue Baptist Church for more than 40 years where she served on various committees.
In addition to her mother, surviving are her husband of 39 years, Freddie C. Donavant of the home; a sister, Margie H. Salyer of Roanoke; five nieces; two nephews; four great-nieces; and six great-nephews.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Starling Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. David Adkins officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Burial Park.
The family will receive friends at McKee-Stone Funeral Services from 7-8:30 p.m. today.

Clarke R. Faudree
Clarke Reed Faudree, 91, of Edgewood Drive, Stanleytown, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, at her home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Leslie Allen Faudree.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Collins Funeral Services in Bassett.

Donnie L. Gray
Donnie L. Gray, 72, of Martinsville, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, at her home.
She was born March 27, 1933, in North Carolina, to Robert Henry Keller and Kate Eva Mayfield Keller. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Danita Doss; and a grandchild, Shannon Doss.
Surviving are six daughters, Linda Rymanski of Martinsville, Patricia Adkins of Ferrum, Diane Wiess of North Carolina, Sandra Haner of Florida, Karen Palmer of Martinsville and Valerie Laufenberg of Collinsville; three sons, Robert Bridgeman of Kentucky, David Gray of Oakwood and James Gray of Martinsville; one sister, Doris Stafford of Iowa; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Bassett Funeral Services from 7-9 p.m. Saturday and other times at 440 Chestnut Meadows Road, Martinsville.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home chapel with Elder Randy Martin officiating. Burial will be in Shady Rest Cemetery at Bassett.

Lemuel W. Joyce
MAIDEN, N.C. -- Lemuel Wilbert Joyce, 83, of Maiden, died Sept. 28, 2005, at Palliative Care and Hospice of Catawba Valley in Newton.
He was born in Henry County, Va., on June 5, 1922, to Lemuel Wofford Joyce and Lucy Ray Joyce. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.
He served in the Army during World War II, retired as a supervisor after 21 years with Mead Containers, and was a member of Living Word Church.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Mary Joyce of the home; two sons, Beverly Joyce of Sylvania, Ohio, and Mark Joyce of Spartanburg, S.C.; eight daughters, Diane Crowder of Maiden, Janice Drum of Newton, Sylvia Crowder of Maiden, Kathryn Hyder and Paula Girard, both of Spartanburg, Patricia Ainsworth of Maiden, Jean Brown of Cleveland, Tenn. and Nancy Fisher of Sharpsburg, Ga.; a brother, Curtis Joyce of Panama City, Fla.; a sister, Mildred Hanna of Baltimore, Md.; 27 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Living Word Church. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the church. The Rev. Mike Ainsworth will officiate. The body will be placed in the church for 30 minutes before the funeral.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Fort Prince Memorial Gardens in Spartanburg with military rites.
Arrangements are by Burke Mortuary.

Harry M. Martin
Harry Moir Martin, 91, of Bassett, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.
He was born in Patrick County on May 17, 1914, to Elder Benjamin Harrison Martin and Susie Hopkins Martin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Dovie C. Martin; two brothers, Willie Martin and King Martin; and two sisters, Ellen Martin Adams and Dora Martin Adams.
He was of the Primitive Baptist faith.
Surviving are his wife of 71 years, Hattie Hopkins Martin of the home; a son, Leon Martin of the home; three daughters, Mildred Massey of Bassett, LouDean DeHart of Stuart and Betty Moore of Bassett; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. today at Old Center Primitive Baptist Church.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the church with Elders Kenneth Hopkins and Carl Terry officiating. Burial will be in the family cemetery on Boxwood Lane in Bassett.
Arrangements are by Bassett Funeral Service.
