ROULSTON
Gilbert Douglas Roulston, 89, of Richmond died Tuesday, September 4, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Evelyn White Roulston; a daughter, Jane Roulston Schottker; a granddaughter, Lisa Shottker Smith and her husband, Dr. William S. Smith, all of Richmond; two sisters-in-law, Dorothe G. Roulston and Estelle W. Reinecke, both of Louisville, Ky.; and three nieces. Mr. Roulston retired in 1977 as Manager of the Richmond Division of the U.S. Tobacco Company and attended the University of Louisville and the University of Alabama. He was a member and elder of First Presbyterian Church and was a member of the South Richmond Rotary Club and the Commonwealth Club. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Hollywood Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m. Friday at Westminster Canterbury. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to First Presbyterian Church or the Westminster Canterbury Endowment Fund.

SPRAGGINS
Richard E. Spraggins, age 35, died Tuesday, September 4, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Elsie Spraggins of the home; three children, Samantha Ariel Spraggins, Andrea Michelle Spraggins and Dylan Cordell Spraggins, all of the home; his parents, Roy and Willie Spraggins of Baskerville; his sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Tommy Smith of Brodnax; one niece, Nellie-Ann Smith; paternal grandmother, Flora Spraggins; mother and father-in-law, Dodie and Linden Stroop; two sisters-in-law, LaVaun Janney and Yolanda Stroop; and a brother-in-law, Linden Stroop Jr. Mr. Spraggins was preceded in death by his daughter, Amber Lynn Spraggins. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, September 7, 2001 at 2 p.m. at Farrar Funeral Chapel with interment to follow in Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial considerations may be directed to the charity of your choice. Departed this life September 5, 2001, Wylie L. Taylor, formerly of 2308 Rosewood. He is survived by his wife, Jean S. Taylor; one daughter, Wyleeta Denise Taylor; three stepsons, Dudley Thomas Mines III, Wayne T. and Dion T. Sutton; six grandchildren; two sisters, Willie Mae Rice and Betty Thrower; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; daughter-in-law, Patricia D. Sutton; three sisters-in-law, Betty and Ida Taylor and Joyce Thorpe; two brothers-in-law, St. Paul Thrower and Junius King Jr.; and other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Ave. Viewing on Thursday and Friday. Remains will be forwarded to Brown's Funeral Service, Lawrenceville, Va. WEISIGER
Mary A. Weisiger of Richmond died September 3, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Charles D. Weisiger.

WHITE
Sally C. White, 46, of Richmond, died September 5, 2001 after a brief illness. She is survived by her husband, Robert M. White; daughter, Jesse A. White; two sons, Robert M. White III and Jeffrey J. White; two brothers, Emery J. Chase Jr. and Bruce W. Chase; four sisters, Suzanne T. Brown, Carolyn M. Peifer, Sandra A. Hunt and Debra J. Norris. She also had a special relationship with her mother-in-law, Ivy E. White. She was a vice president of Signet Bank before joining Help Reliance, a Richmond home-care company, as executive director. Currently, she and her husband own The Inn at Corolla Light, located on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Most recently she and her husband founded Cabaret-On-The-James, a horse farm, in Charles City County. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday. Interment 12 noon Saturday at the White Family Cemetery, Charles City County.

WINN
Richard G. Winn Sr., 66, of Richmond, passed away September 4, 2001. He is survived by his mother, Bessie A. Winn; son, Richard G. Winn Jr. and his wife, Sandy; daughter, Rhonda Cale; granddaughter, Meredith Cale; brothers, Edward Lewis Winn Jr. and his wife, Alice Mae, Herbert Gordon Winn, Michael Lee Winn and his wife, Marie; sisters, LaVerne Nunnally and Alice W. Phillips. He was a member of Company F, John Marshall Cadet Corps and a current member of the Sierra Club. He was a former salesman for Hawthorne Volkswagen and Dominion Chevrolet and an independent real estate investor. He retired as department manager from Pleasants Hardware. Upon retirement he lived in Deltaville, Va. and recently returned to Richmond. A memorial service will be held Friday, September 7 at West End Community Church of the Nazarene, 591 West Broad St. at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Sierra Club.

WYATT
Clarence A. Wyatt of Mechanicsville died September 5, 2001. Survived by his wife of 70 years, Dorothy L. Wyatt; one son, Warren W. "Bubba" Wyatt Sr. and his wife, Barbara R. Wyatt; five grandsons, Warren W. Wyatt Jr. and his wife, Sheryl, Michael W. Wyatt and his wife, Susan, Scott A. Wyatt and his wife, Terri, Granville L. "Bobby" Wyatt Jr. and his wife, Cynthia, Danny R. Wyatt and his wife, Debbie; one granddaughter, Cindi Wyatt-Blake; one sister, Annie M. Stephens; and 16 greatgrandchildren, all of Mechanicsville. He was preceded in death by one son, Granville L. "Bobby" Wyatt Sr., Captain of the Richmond City Fire Department. Mr. Wyatt was a member of the Black Creek Baptist Church, Mechanicsville. His remains rest at the Mechanicsville chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee Davis Rd., where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, September 8, at the funeral home. Burial at Signal Hill Memorial Park. ALFORD
Mary Owen Alford, 75, of Richmond, died Monday, June 25, 2001. She is survived by four sons, John, Michael, Patrick and his wife, Ginger and Tony Alford; her brother, Donald Owen and his wife, Irene; seven beloved grandchildren, Gordon, Zachary, Maggie, Sadie, Travis, Joshua and Katie Alford; devoted friends, Janet and Craig Harvey, Marian Hudson, Phil Jones, John O'Donnell, Emily Powell and Dot Wade. Memorial Mass will be held 11 a.m, Friday at St. Paul's Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Catholic Charities Adoption Fund.

Alfred L. Allmond Sr., age 87, of 9896 Bustleton Ave., Paul's Run, Philadelphia, Pa., formerly of Mattaponi Indian Reservation, West Point, Va., passed away June 26, 2001. Survived by his wife of 63 years, Margaret Allmond (nee Adams); five sons, Alfred Jr., Ernest, Linwood, Dennis, and Kenneth, all of Philadelphia, Pa.; three daughters, Catherine Gale, Rockville, Md., Mary Anne Gasser, Hatboro, Pa., and Patricia McGeady, Philadelphia, Pa.; 22 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; six brothers, Elmer, Norristown, Pa., Louis, Warminster, Pa., Richard, New Kent, Va., Milton, Richmond, Va., James, Lutz, Fla., Floyd, Lanesville, Va.; two sisters, Martha Adams, Chesapeake, Va. and Thelma Henshaw, Warrington, Pa. Family and friends may call Friday, June 29, 2001 from 7 to 9 p.m. at B.W. White Funeral Home, King William Courthouse, King William, Va. Interment will be Saturday, 2 p.m. at Mattaponi Indian Baptist Church.

BAKER
E. Pearl Baker, 78, of Richmond, died Sunday, June 24, 2001. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Dennie R. Baker; two daughters and their husbands, Anita and Don Taylor, Nan and Ron Cianciulli; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; a brother, Vernon L. Mills; a sister-in-law, Nancy Martin; and a brother-in-law, Frank Couch Sr. Mrs. Baker was a retired employee of the C&P Telephone Co. Her family will receive friends from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd., where funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Interment Greenwood Memorial Gardens. BARNES
Paul Leland Barnes of Batavia, Ohio died June 19, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Cindy Valentine Barnes; mother, Jane Howle Barnes; sister, D. Ann Barnes; brother, Bobby Barnes and his wife, Carol. Paul was preceded in death by his father, Charles Barnes Jr.; and his nephew, Michael Barnes. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 28, 2001, 1:30 to 3 p.m., with a memorial service following at 3 p.m., at New Bridge Baptist Church on Nine Mile Rd. BEAVERS
John Mathias Beavers, 77, of Richmond, died Monday, June 25, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Charlotte V. Beavers; three sons and daughters-in-law, Eldon G. and Geneie Beavers, G. Wilbur and Cheryl Beavers, and Jerry G. and Pearl Beavers; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one brother, Bernard A. Beavers; two nephews; and two devoted friends, Martin L. Peery of Tazewell, Va. and Jack Dunnavant of Richmond. His remains rest at Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday (today). Interment Westhampton Memorial Park. Mr. Beavers served our country during WWII as a staff sergeant with a heavy ordinance outfit attached to the Fifth Air Force serving in New Guinea, Dutch East Indies, Philippines, and Japan.

BROOKS
Everette L. Brooks of 5621 Cary Street Rd. entered eternal rest on Monday, June 25, 2001. He was born on Noverber 21, 1931 and was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Henry Brooks Sr. and Lula Mae Carter Brooks. He is survived by one brother, Robert H. Brooks Jr.; a sister, Ruth E. Robinson; one sister-in-law, Thelma A. Brooks; and other relatives. Mr. Brooks attended Richmond Public Schools then joined the U.S. Navy. The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd. Graveside services 12 noon Friday at Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, Va. The family wishes to thank everyone in advance for all acts of kindness during this time of bereavement. Please make any donations to the National Kidney Foundation.

BROOKS
William F. Brooks Sr., 81, of the 800 block of Cambridge Ave., died June 26, 2001, at Maryview Medical Center. He was predeceased by his parents, William H. and Bertha Turner Brooks; one brother and four sisters. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Ardelle Wilkins Brooks; a daughter, Sheryl Brooks Fox and her husband, Edgar T. Fox Jr.; a son, William F. Brooks Jr.; and a sister-in-law, Sylvia W. Mann, all of Richmond; a sister, Margaret B. Crawford of Chesapeake; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Brooks retired from Columbia Gas Co. after 44 years of service. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served for many years as a deacon and Sunday School director and teacher. He also served for many years as an Assistant Scoutmaster with BSA Troop 216. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 28, at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Philip Parker, with burial in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund.

CATLETT
Gene Rogers Catlett, 66, of Richmond, died Friday, June 22, 2001. Survived by daughter, Jeannie Fleming; son, Michael Catlett; sisters, Maxine Garber, Shirley Walker, Barbara Lee Wilson; brother, Bernard Catlett; nephews, Greg Nichols and Alex Richardson; niece, Lisa Richardson. Graveside service 3 p.m. Thursday at Westhampton Memorial Park. He will always be close in the hearts of many.

CAUSIEESTKO
William Eratosthenis Causieestko Jr. "Causie", 75, of Richmond, began his new life June 22, 2001. He was preceded in eternal rest by his parents and sister, Maggie. He leaves a dedicated wife and friend, Aleen; five daughters, Diana, Audrey, Sheila, Carol and Billie; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many friends. After completing Armstrong High, "Causie" graduated from Hampton University in 1949. He later achieved his master's degree, and went on to receive a mortuary science degree, was a member of many organizations and an Army veteran. Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. June 27. Funeral, 12 noon June 28, First African Baptist Church. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Edythe Heenan Day, 81, of Richmond, widow of Walter Heenan and John R. Day Jr., died Tuesday, June 26, 2001. She is survived by her son, Warren B. Heenan; a stepdaughter, Jane Earley; a stepson, John R. Day III; two grandchildren, Sarah M. Heenan and John C.B. Heenan; six stepgrandchildren; a devoted great-nephew and his wife, Ernest and Glenda Priddy; and a great-great-nephew, Michael Priddy. Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make contriubtions to the Building Fund of Glen Allen Baptist Church or the Perpetual Care Fund of Kenwood United Methodist Church.

DEAL
Mary Lou Deal, prominent potter and painter, passed at her Hanover home on the afternoon of June 26, 2001. She is survived by her daughter, Raasa Leela Shields; three cats; brother, David Deal; sister-in-law, Jean Deal; and niece, Heather Deal. She enchanted judges at such significant exhibitions as the Smithsonian's Washington Craft Show and the Philadelphia Craft Show. Mary Lou received critical acclaim in the Washington Post, the New York Times, Smithsonian Magazine, Southern Accents and numerous other publications. In 1990, she was chosen by the Metropolitan Home Magazine as one of 100 "most important movers and shakers of the world." Mary Lou has been involved with the Hand Work Shop for over 30 years in every capacity from artist to board member. She was instrumental in the transformation of the Richmond Craft Fair to the now distinguished Craft and Design Show. Mary Lou has been the recipient of numerous awards including the 1991 Outstanding Woman Award for the Arts from the YMCA. In 1986, she received the Virginia Museum Professional Fellowship Grant. She also served as a board member for the Hanover Library. A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 1 at 2 p.m. at her farm, 13045 Walnut Shade Lane, Ashland, Va.
