CARMINE
Hazel Furniss Carmine, 90, of Fredricksburg, Va., died Monday, February 5, 2001. Mrs. Carmine a former resident of Richmond, widow of Joseph J. Carmine was a charter member of Southhampton Baptist Church and member of Oxford Garden Club. Survivors include two sons, James F. Carmine, Fairfax Station, Va. and Joseph J. Carmine II of Fredericksburg; a sister, Opal Stant, Richmond; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Parham Chapel Woody Funeral Home. Graveside service will be conducted Friday 11 a.m. in Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers contributions to Southampton Baptist Church.

CLAPP
Elvira Harvey Clapp, 76, of Richmond, died Monday, February 5, 2001. She is survived by her daughter, Gail Clapp Simmons; her son, David John Clapp; two grandchildren, Heather Lea Kobylinski and Micah Thomas Simmons. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd., where the family will receive friends 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and where a funeral service will be held 12:30 Thursday. Interment Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lyndale Baptist Church.

COLONIES
Francis G. "Scotty" Colonies, 77, resident of Southerland Place, passed away February 4, 2001. He is survived by his daughter, Betty Jo Grubb; grandsons, Jeff and Chris Dunn; sisters, Betty Walker and Norma Jean Buckner. He was the widower of Mildred L. Colonies and Louise V. Colonies. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Karon C. Lawton. Services private per Scotty's wishes. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Lung Association.

DAVIS
James Samuel Davis, age 61, of Warsaw, died February 5, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Hawkins Davis; two sons, James Samuel Davis Jr. and his wife, Ann Brooke White Davis of Hanover, and John Hawkins Davis and his wife, Catherine Mills Davis of Ashburn; one daughter, Caroline Elizabeth Davis Juran and her husband, Carl Anthony Juran of Richmond; one granddaughter, Brooke Baylor Davis of Hanover; one brother, Charles Tobin Davis and his wife, Loreta Davis of Woodstock; three nephews, one niece, two great-nephews, and one great-niece. Mr. Davis was graduated from the Medical College of Virginia School of Pharmacy in 1962, and was an owner of Warsaw Drug, Incorporated from 1966 to 1988. He currently owned Commonwealth Florist in Warsaw. He was a member of the Warsaw Rotary Club and a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Warsaw. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening at Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home in Saluda. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 8, 2001, at Christ Episcopal Church at Christchurch, Middlesex County, with interment in the church cemetery.

EDWARDS
Departed this life February 3, 2001, Mr. Gilbert W. "Patches" Edwards III of Richmond. Remains rest at the Scott-Lightfoot Funeral Home, 3021 "N" St. Services to be announced.

FARR
James Baxter Farr, 62, of Sandston, Va., died Saturday, February 3, 2001, while vacationing at Sanibel Island, Fla. Mr. Farr was a graduate of Virginia Tech and a longtime employee of the Henrico County school system. He is survived by his wife, Lois; son, Ronnie, his wife, Tammy and their two children, Samantha and Kyle; his daughter, Lisa, her husband, Jim and their two children, Lauren and Ryan. A memorial service will be held Friday, February 9, at 3 p.m. at New Bridge Baptist Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the services. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Heart Association. Interment will be private. The family of Jim Farr will miss him as we loved him very much.

FLEMING
Departed this life February 2, 2001, Doris Christine Wilkins Fleming. Cherishing her memory, she leaves four devoted children, Eleanor "Tina" Smith, Joseph Benjamin Jr., Walton Eugene and Wade Bernard Fleming; 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Wilkins (Ruth); two daughters-in-law, Margie and Pamela Fleming; three brothers-in-law, five sisters-in-law; a host of other relatives and friends, among them several devoted, Antoinette Jones, Maggie Smith, Natricia Richardson, Claud Linden and Rodney Roane. Remains rest at the Chiles Funeral Home, 2100 Fairmount Ave. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, 1 p.m. from Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 4401 Hobbs Lane, with Rev. Ronald C. Taylor Sr. officiating. Interment Oakwood Cemetery. Remains will rest in church one hour prior to service.

FOREMAN
Departed this life February 4, 2001, Mrs. Roulette Glover Foreman, age 85, of 10357 Rapidan Way, Ashland, Va., and formerly of 1427 Baylor's Lane, Petersburg. She leaves to cherish her memory Rev. Steve I. Foreman Jr. (Olivia) and George Foreman (Brenda) of Richmond, Paul Foreman (Annette) and Winnie Foreman (wife of James Foreman, deceased) of Petersburg; 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; one brother, Elijah Ledbetter; one brother-in-law, Leroy Foreman (Rosia); one sister-in-law, Estelle Walton, all of Petersburg; and a host of other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St. Remains will lie in state Thursday 12 noon at Abundant Life Church of Christ, 3300 Neale St., where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Eulogy by Rev. Earl T. Fries. Burial Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery, Petersburg.

GARLAND
Jesse Raymond Garland, 85, of Anniston, Ala., formerly of Charlottesville, died Monday, February 5, 2001, in Alabama. He was born June 27, 1915, in Richmond, son of the late Jesse Preston Garland and Edith Gerard Garland. He was husband of the late Mary Lou Garland. Mr. Garland was retired from the Young Men's Shop in Charlottesville. He was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church in Anniston. Surviving are two sons, Jesse R. Garland of Charlotte, N.C., Dr. Thomas A. Garland of Anniston, Ala.; a sister, Alma G. Hanvey of Richmond; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A graveside funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 10, 2001, at Holly Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Larry Wingfield officiating. Memorial donations may be made to St. Mark United Methodist Church, 1320 Golden Springs Road, Anniston, Ala. 36207. Hill and Wood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

GARNETT
Anna Caudle Garnett, 83, of Richmond, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2001. She is survived by two daughters, Barbara G. Aiken and Cynthia G. Garner; a son, Eubank Wilson Garnett; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Charles Caudle. Remains rest at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where the family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. A service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, where Mrs. Garnett had been a member for 60 years. Interment will follow in Maury Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 520 N. Boulevard, Richmond, Va. 23220.

GATEWOOD
Travis Warren Gatewood of Mechanicsville died Tuesday, February 6, 2001. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucille Adams and Warren T. Gatewood; and three stepsisters, Catherine MacMillian, Janice Gammon and Dorothy Moore. He is survived by his wife, Margaret S. Gatewood; daughter, Kimberly G. Harvey and son-in-law, Floyd W. Harvey of New Kent; son, Wayne (Rusty) Stertz and devoted daughter-in-law, Sandra Stertz; son, Michael Stertz and daughter-in-law, Kathy Stertz; grandchildren, Cassie Lee and Taylor Ann Harvey, Tamara, Amanda, Kaysey and Chelsey Stertz; sister, Virginia Rhodes; his "Emma," Cassie Adams; three stepbrothers, James (Bubba) Adams Jr., William (Billy) Douglas and Garland Lee Douglas; two stepsisters, Gloria (Monk) Gibbs and Myrtle (Sissie) Moore; devoted friends, Wayne Woods and Jack N. Bruce; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call after 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee Davis Rd., where services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. Interment Washington Memorial Park. GRAVEL
The memorial service for Raymond John Gravel Sr. will be held Saturday, February 10, at 12 noon at St. Augustine's Catholic Church, 4400 Beulah Rd., followed by a gathering of family and friends at the home of Mary Frances Gravel at 9515 Riddle Rd., Chesterfield, Va.

McFADDEN
Mrs. Pearl Mae McFadden, 82, of Petersburg, died on February 5, 2001. She was the widow of John McFadden and is survived by her son, John McFadden Jr.; one brother, Lennie Rudd; and two granddaughters, Tracy Houston and Melissa McFadden. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

MILLER
William Lewis Miller, age 21, of Topping, died Tuesday, February 6, 2001. He was a graduate of Middlesex High School and a member of Harmony Grove Baptist Church. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Clarke M. and J. Lewis Davis, and E. Bradley Miller. He is survived by is parents, Delores D. and E. Hubert Miller; a sister, Janet Lee Miller; his paternal grandmother, Sarah Lee Fary Miller, all of Topping. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home, Saluda. Interment Harmony Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Topping. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. MUNDY
LaVelle Mundy of Sandston died Sunday, February 4, 2001 at the age of 91. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry B. Mundy, her sons, Harry Lee Mundy and Carlton Westley Mundy. She is also preceded in death by her daughter, Catherine Ann Racer. She is survived by two sons, William Mason Mundy and his wife, Sarah, and Albert L. Mundy and his wife, Loretta. She is also survived by her daughters, Verna M. Hall and her husband, Elbert, Judy Beckstoffer and her husband, Henry, and Margaret L. Browning. She is also survived by her sister, Elizabeth Benhoff; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 7 from 4 until 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave. A funeral service will be held at Nelsen Chapel Thursday, February 8, at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Washington Memorial Park.

O'BERRY
Violet "Marlene" Poorbaugh O'Berry, 51, of Jarratt, died Tuesday, February 6, 2001. She is survived by her husband of over 32 years, John Wayne O'Berry; her mother and stepfather, Doreatha Janie Gregory and George Edward Wilhelm of Mt. Savage, Md.; her father, Ray Poorbaugh of Berkley Springs, W.Va.; one son, Gregory Lynn O'Berry; two daughters, Amy Diane O'Berry and Susan O'Berry Harrison, all of Jarratt; six grandchildren, Krystal, Samantha and Gregory O'Berry of Roanoke Rapids, N.C. Brittany and Kaitlin Harrison and John Lynch of Jarratt; two brothers, Gary Showalter of Sacramento, Calif. and Kenneth Poorbaugh of Berkley Springs, W.Va.; one sister, Joyce Andreasen of Norvon, Pa.; and four half sisters, Frances, Brenda, Peggy and Beverly. One son, John Wayne "Tink" O'Berry II, preceded Mrs. O'Berry in death. The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday (tonight) at Owen Funeral Home in Jarratt, where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, February 8, 2001. Interment High Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice Support Group of Southside Virginia, 412 Ingleside Ave., Emporia, Va. 23847.
