DELK
Rodham Tulloss Delk of Smithfield, Virginia, died Thursday, August 1, 2002 at the age of 88. Born July 22, 1914, at Pierceville Farm in Smithfield, he was the son of Owington Gordon Delk and Lena Frances Tulloss Delk and the eleventh generation of the Delk line to reside in Isle of Wight County. He was a retired attorney having practiced law in Smithfield for over 50 years. His civic contributions included service on the Smithfield Town Council as council member and mayor, serving as the first mayor under the new council-manager form of government of the town; president of the Smithfield Water Company, a private utility company until its purchase by the town of Smithfield; and a member of the Virginia Commission of Fisheries, now Marine Resources Commission for 10 years. In the legal profession, he was the founding president of the Isle of Wight County Bar Association; a member of the Virginia State Bar Council, former chairman of the Client Security Fund and was a founding Fellow of the Virginia Law Foundation. He served as Commissioner of Accounts for Isle of Wight County for 35 years. Central to his life was the church. He was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church for over 50 years serving as a lay reader, vestry member and choir member. He served as well in many activities of the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Virginia including service on the Constitution and Canons Commission, the Board of Managers and as president of Jackson-Feild Home and active involvement in the Episcopal Cursillo movement. He was a member of the Shriners Khedive Temple and a past member in the Royal Order of Jesters. He was a past member of Rotary International and later a member of the Smithfield Kiwanis Club. He was a former member of the Board of Directors of Historic St. Luke's Restoration. Survivors include his son, Rodham Tulloss Delk Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth Wood Delk of Smithfield; his daughter, Margaret Delk Moore and her husband, Charles William Moore of Newport News; six grandchildren, Rodham Tulloss Delk III, Christopher Wood Delk, Campbell Shell Delk, Bennett Royce Moore, Anna Campbell Moore and Nathaniel Delk Moore; his brother, Frank Simpson Delk of Richmond; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Evelyn Anna Campbell Delk, who died exactly one year ago August 1, 2001; as well as his parents; his brother, Owington Gordon Delk Jr.; and sisters, Frances Delk Bouknight and Anne Delk Pryor Juck. A memorial service with Holy Eucharist will be conducted Sunday, August 4, 2002 at Christ Episcopal Church in Smithfield at 4 p.m., with the Rev. Macon B. Walton and the Rev. Howard W. Saunders III officiating. The family will receive friends and family at 101 Moonefield Drive in Smithfield immediately following the memorial service on Sunday, August 4, 2002. It is requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Christ Episcopal Church, 111 South Church Street, Smithfield, Virginia 23430. Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield, is handling arrangements.

DUNN
Cordia B. Dunn, 78, of Chester, died August 2, 2002 in Chippenham Medical Center. Mrs. Dunn is survived by her husband, Frank E. Dunn of Chester; three sons, William H. Watson of Eden, N.C., Dennis W. Watson and Douglas E. Watson; and a daughter, Martha A. Walker, all of Chester; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 4 in the Chesterfield Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 3050 W. Hundred Rd. The interment will be private.

EDWARDS
Charles P. "George" Edwards Jr. of Mechanicsville, husband of the late Virginia Edwards, died August 2, 2002. He is survived by his daughter, Ann Trexler; sister, Lorine Rowe; brother, Thurmon Edwards; seven grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; and his caregivers, Lois and Cynthia Sibley. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Signal Hill Memorial Park. Mr. Edwards was the owner of Veterans Paint Shop. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Gideons International.

ELMORE
Catherine Carroll (Kitty Bell) Elmore, 71, of Glen Allen, died Wednesday, July 31, 2002. She is survived by her husband, William E. (Billy) Elmore; two daughters, Tammie Ellington and her husband, Cliff of Urbanna and Pansy Lathrop and her husband, Mike of Boulder, Colo.; two stepchildren, Adriel Edwards and William E. Elmore Jr.; a sister, Marion Kyle; a brother, Bierne Carroll Jr.; seven grandchildren, Danielle, Travis, Russell, Amber, Sarah, Skyler and Ashley; and seven stepgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bierne and Lula Carroll; two sons, Richard I. Bell III and Ricky Carroll Bell. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Laburnum Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 2110 E. Laburnum Ave. Funeral services will be held 12 noon Saturday at Fairfield Presbyterian Church. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Fairfield Presbyterian Church, 6930 Cold Harbor Rd., Mechanicsville, Va. 23111.

FELTON
Staley Lee Felton, retired coordinator of International Sales for Mobil Chemical Company, died on Tuesday, July 30, 2002. A native of Nansemond County, Va., a veteran of the U.S. Navy, he received a BS Degree in Chemistry from Virginia Tech where he was vice president of the class of 1950. Staley was a former member of the Young Men's Brotherhood of Highland Park, American Chemical and National Agricultural Chemical Associations. An active member of Northside Baptist Church since 1952 where he served in many leadership capacities, he is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ann Sims Felton; his children and their spouses, John Sims and Donna Felton, Larry Lee Felton, Stephen and Beverly Felton Choquette and Staley Alan and Jo Ann Felton; grandchildren, Jesica Felton, Thomas Felton, David Choquette and John Choquette; stepgranddaughter, Michelle Apple; stepgreat-grandchildren, Kelly Frazier and Christian Apple; his brothers and their wives, Delman and Bennie Felton and Samuel and Maybell Felton; sister-in-law, Vivian Felton; and brother-in-law, Raymond Hollowell. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Cennie Felton; sister, Jane Hollowell; and brother, Marvin Felton. Staley is also survived by his Manor Care Health Care family of five years. Remains rest at the Laburnum Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 2110 E. Charles Edward Gregory Sr., age 87, died Thursday, August 1, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 5, 2002 at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad St. Further arrangements will follow.

HALL
Orean "Rean" Hall, 86, of Richmond, passed away August 2, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband, William I. Hall. She is survived by her children, Donald W., Robert L. and John M. Hall; one brother, Raymond Dawson; one sister, Effie StClaire; four grandchildren, Tracy Hall, Angela Hall, Stephanie Hall Doyle and Paige Hall. Mrs. Hall was a member of Four Mile Creek Baptist Church. Her remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 South Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday with interment to follow in Washington Memorial Park. HARNEY
Arline Frances Harney passed from this world on July 23, 2002. Beloved wife of Edward Harney Sr.; cherished mother of Darlene Stone, Dorothy Harney, Debra Butler and Edward Jr.; adored by grandchildren, Morgan, Lindsey, Paige, Megan, Liam and Brenna. An honors English teacher and administrator of English Studies for the Massapequa School District on Long Island, N.Y., she retired in 1992. Active in numerous student, professional and social activities, she will be missed by all whom she touched. She had the mind of a thinker, the soul of a dreamer and the heart of a trusted friend. She will be eulogized in a cathedral in New York in December and laid to final rest in St. Michael's Cemetery, Queens, N.Y.

HARTLEY
A memorial service for Hazel Reed Hartley, of Colonial Heights, Va., who died Monday, July 28, 2002, will be held at Highland United Methodist Church in Colonial Heights at 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 4, 2002. Floyd J. Hayes Sr., 73, of Milford, died Thursday, August 1, 2002. Survivors include his wife, Lois C. Hayes; two sons, Floyd C. "Jackie" Hayes Jr. of Milford and Jerry F. Hayes of Orlando, Fla.; three sisters, Marjorie Carlton of Tappahannock, Emma Mae Purcell of Kilmarnock and Charlotte Caswell of Glen Burnie, Md.; two brothers, Franklin Hayes of Glen Burnie, Md.; and Leo Hayes of Satellite Beach, Fla.; a granddaughter, Jacklynn Hoffman; and twin great-grandsons, Kyle and Blake Hoffman, all of Milford. Mr. Clinton Mead "Rosy" Jones Sr., 96, died Thursday, August 1, 2002 at his home in Doodlum, Va. He was preceded in death by his father, Millard M. Jones; his mother, Esther Holloway Jones; his wife, Julia Esther Presley Jones; his son, Clinton M. Jones Jr.; and his grandson, Clinton A. Maldonado. Mr. Jones is survived by sons, Sidney M. Jones and wife, Mary Lucy of Tappahannock and William A. Jones and wife, Coleen of Chester; daughters, Mary Etta Shelton and husband, Douglas Kent of Gloucester and Julia Anne Maldonado and husband, Desiderio A. of Doodlum. Other survivors include his loving sister, Anne J. Foote of Hudson, Fla.; grandsons, David L. Jones and wife, Robin, Edward M. Jones, D. Scott Shelton and his wife, Candace, W. Todd Shelton, Desiderio T. Maldonado and Adam J. Maldonado; great-grandsons, Mathew E. Jones, Christopher W. Jones and Eric W. Jones; and great-granddaughter, Julia Kate Shelton. Mr. Jones was a longtime member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, Purdy, Va. and was a member of Widow's Son Lodge No. 150, AF & AM. Remains rest at Owen Funeral Home, Jarratt, Va., where the family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday (tonight), and where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, August 4, 2002. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Treasurer, Mt. KELLEY
Beverly Britt Kelley, 64, of Richmond, died Wednesday, July 31, 2002. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Emmett Robertson Kelley; two daughters, Elizabeth Kelley Weber and her husband, Richard Alan Weber and Katharine Kelley Mauck and her husband, John Waller Mauck; and four grandchildren, Katharine Scott Williams, Sierra Nicole Weber, John Robertson Weber and Elizabeth Cummings Mauck. Mrs. Kelley graduated from the Bartram School for Girls in Jacksonville, Fla. and from Hollins College. She was a long-standing member of All Saints Episcopal Church where she had taught Sunday School and served on the Altar Guild. Mrs. Kelley was a sustainer of the Junior League of Richmond and did volunteer work at the William Byrd Community House and for the Historic Richmond Foundation. She was a longtime member of The Westwood Club. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, August 3 at All Saints Episcopal Church. Interment in Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

NEALE
Catherine Hobby Neale, 92, died July 31, 2002 at a Richmond nursing home where she had made her home for the last five years. She is the widow of Herbert Milton Neale and is survived by her sons, Hobby and wife, Kitty, of Richmond, Michael and wife, Barbara, of Walnut Creek, California; and by her daughter, Catherine Neale Perkins, of Springfield. Surviving grandchildren include Rebecca Neale Gibson of Mechanicsville, David Neale of Minnesota, Christopher Neale, Anne Neale and Kelly Neale, all of California; and four great-grandchildren, Rosa, Evelyn and George Gibson and Andrew Neale. Born in Westminster, Maryland, and educated at Western Maryland College, Mrs. Neale always expressed interest in music and drama. She taught French and music until she married and moved to Northern Virginia. The Neales retired to Bowlers Wharf, Virginia, in 1965, and enjoyed twenty-five years of gardening and entertaining. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church at Miller's Tavern on Thursday, August 7, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Webster S. Gibson, grandson-in-law, officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Richmond Symphony, 300 West Franklin Street, Richmond, Va. 23220 or Heartland Hospice Services, Inc., 3212 Skipwith Road, Suite 110, Richmond, Va. 23294.

Verda Dowdy Neely, age 98, of Richmond, died Friday, August 2, 2002. She was the widow of Russell E. Neely and is survived by two sisters, Ratia Hicks and Lillian Steep of Louisburg, W.Va.; also several nieces and nephews. Remains rest at the Laburnum Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 2110 East Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and where services will be held 11 a.m. Monday.
