Betty Jean Peroe, age 70, died Thursday, February 1, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Emmett "Dickie" Peroe Jr.; her daughter, Brenda J. Schwartz; a son, Richard Irvin Peroe; beloved granddaughter, Carol Marie Schwartz; sister, Shirley M. Barnett; and a brother, Clarence "Sonny" Melton; mother-in-law, Della F. Peroe; stepsister, M. Virginia Sheppard. Remains rest at the Laburnum Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 2110 E. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and where services will be held 11 a.m. Monday. Interment Forest Lawn.

PHILLIPS
Mrs. Gertrude Mayes Phillips, age 73, 0f 2425 Tate Springs Rd., Lynchbug, Va., formerly of Surry County, N.C., widow of Clarence Alton Phillips, passed away Friday, February 2, 2001 at Lynchburg General Hospital in Lynchburg, Va. Mrs. Phillips was born in Surry County on January 28, 1928 to the late Christopher Columbus and Ruby Leona Burgess Mayes. She was a switchboard operator for Miller & Rhoads and was a member of Walmsley Boulevard United Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Chris Stokes of Powhatan, Va.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Colen Phillips and Randy and Jewel Phillips, all of Richmond, Va. and Darryl and Lisa Phillips of Orlando, Fla.; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Shelby and Gayle Phipps of Lynchburg, Va.; a brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Jo Ann Mayes of Galax, Va.; and a sister-in-law, Wilma Mayes of Galax, Va. In addition to her husband and her parents, Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by three brothers, Roby Mayes, Ronnie Mayes and Marvin Mayes. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 6, 2001 at 11 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel of Mount Airy, conducted by Rev. John "Bill" Davis with burial to follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday night from 7 to 9 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home of Mount Airy.

POLLARD
George M. Pollard, 81, of Richmond, died Friday, February 2, 2001 after a brief illness. Born February 18, 1919 in Richmond, he was the son of the late Herman Pollard Sr. and Lucy Brooke Catlett Pollard. Mr. Pollard was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Alease Royall Pollard in 1991. He is survived by his son, Robert M. Pollard of Hampton; brother-in-law and best friend for 65 years, Andrew J. Winston and sister-in-law, Marian Royall Winston of Richmond; three nieces, Jean Pollard Dimmitt of Topeka, Kansas, Crystal Rae Winston Metcalf of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. and Jacqueline Harmon of Richmond; and a nephew, William Joseph Winston of Richmond. Mr. Pollard was a graduate of the University of Richmond, Class of 1940. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a member of Metropolitan Lodge No. 11 AF&AM, Richmond Scottish Rite Bodies, ACCA Temple Shrine and its Legion of Honor, American Legion Post 125 and a longtime member of Ginter Park Baptist Church. His professional career spanned five decades, first in the insurance industry at Universal Life, Atlantic Life, Southwestern Life and Southwestern General Life, and he retired as a Senior Bank Examiner at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond. Remains rest at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, and where services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 5. Interment in Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ginter Park Baptist Church Memorial Fund or a favorite charity.

POOLE
Margaret L. Poole, 93, of Richmond, widow of Clarence W. Poole, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2001. She is survived by a son and his spouse, William S. and Judith T. Poole; two granddaughters and their spouses, Christine and Darrell Clarke and Mary and Jim VanScyoc; two stepgranddaughters, Pamela Arciero and Meredith Sheldon; five great-grandsons, Jonathan, Samuel and Christopher Clarke, James and Joshua VanScyoc. Mrs. Poole was a lifetime member of Ginter Park United Methodist Church. Remains rest at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where the family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today and where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday with interment to follow in Riverview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Ginter Park United Methodist Church, 101 W. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23227.

POWELL
Jeff "JW" Powell, 64, of Richmond, died February 2, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Wilma Lou Powell; mother-in-law, Wilma Edwards; daughter, Kim; sons, Michael J. and Jeff W. Clapp; sisters, Evelyn Drake, Carolyn Barnes and Lynn Powell; brothers, Roy L., Ray and Winfred Powell; brother-in-law, Ed Keeter; his baby, Toby. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rt. 10), with an Order of the Moose service at 7 p.m. Graveside services will be held Monday at 12:30 p.m. at Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Lung Association, P.O. Box 7065, Richmond, Va. 23221-0065.

PROCTOR
Paul Judson Proctor, 90, died Friday, February 2, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Sallie J. Proctor; his daughters and their husbands, Gayle and Jim Minor and Deannie and Skip Butler; three grandsons, Clay Butler and wife, Carol, Jim Minor Jr. and Paul Butler and wife, Joy; a granddaughter, Ann Yeatter and husband, Jim; two great-granddaughters, Janalee Minor and Colleen Yeatter; two great-grandsons, Jacob Paul Butler and Devin Yeatter; two brothers, Grady and Maurice Proctor; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Proctor was retired from Reynolds Metal Company in 1973, and was an active member of Woodland Heights Baptist Church. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and where funeral services will be held 12:30 Monday. Interment Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Woodland Heights Baptist Church, Springhill Ave. at 31st St., Richmond 23225.

REYNOLDS
Etha Elliott Reynolds, 80, of Richmond, died February 2, 2001. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, H. Leonard Reynolds; daughter and son-in-law, Diane R. and David Conner; sister, Mary Pilage Reynolds; grandsons, Brad, Chad and Brandon Conner; nieces, Ellen Whitlock and Mollie Whitenack. Mrs. Reynolds was a member of OES Chapter 139 and Branch's Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rt. 10). Her funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Interment Dale Memorial Park.

ROSE
Fred E. Rose Jr. went home to be with the Lord January 31, 2001. Preceded in death by his beloved mother, Emma Elizabeth Rose, Fred leaves to miss him in this life his devoted sister, Charlotte June Horton and her husband, Sonny; three sons, Fred E. Rose III and wife, Robyn, Paul Brian Rose and Stephen Lee Rose and wife, Lori; four grandchildren, Kristen, Brian, Sarah and Elijah Rose; niece, Diane Hoffman and family; and nephew, Chris Horton and wife; stepmother, Olga Rose; stepsister, Patsy Redford and husband, Billy, all of Richmond. Fred was an Army veteran serving in the Korean War and retired from the Richmond City Police Department. The family thanks the doctors and nurses at Retreat Hospital for their compassionate care during his prolonged illness. Graveside services were held on February 2 at Roselawn Memory Gardens. SEWARD
David W. Seward Jr., age 23, of North Carolina, formerly of Richmond, passed away Friday, February 2, 2001. He is survived by his mother, Melody Foster and her husband, Matt; his father, David W. Seward Sr. and his wife, Amy; maternal grandparents, Wood and Evelyn Owen; two brothers, Taylor and Grant Seward; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. His remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be held 12 Noon Wednesday at Corinth United Methodist Church. Interment Washington Memorial Park. TAYLOR
John W. Taylor, died February 2, 2001 at his home in Powhatan, Va. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, June B. Taylor; one son, J. Bivens Taylor and his wife, Carol; one grandson, Robert Taylor of Richmond, Va.; one daughter, Sara Taylor Boles and her husband, Cal Boles of Pensacola, Fla. Also survived by two sisters, Charlotte Glover of Richmond, Va., and Virginia Beam of Stuarts Draft, Va.; one brother, English Taylor of Staunton, Va. The family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd. WALKER
Ray Francis Walker, 83, left to be with the Lord on February 1, 2001. Ray is survived by her only child, William M. Walker III and his wife, Gwen of San Diego, Calif.; her sister, Lucille Francis Whitehead of Richmond; her niece, Ray Francis Whitehead Kuhn of Marin County, Calif.; her nephews, Howard Squire Whitehead, David William Whitehead and John Ogden Whitehead, all of Richmond; and seven great-nieces and nephews, as well as countless friends and veterans. Ray was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia on August 30, 1917 to Frances "Ray" Ogden and Howard Francis. She inspired all with her faith, courage and grace throughout her life. Ray was truly loved by all. Ray was an active member of the Richmond Christian Fellowship, whose generosity and support over the years were of inestimable value to Ray and her family. Memorial services will be conducted at the Richmond Christian Fellowship at 4 p.m. on Sunday, February 4, located at 4424 Huguenot Road, Richmond, Va. WATKINS
Benjamin Thomas Watkins Jr., formerly of Richmond, entered eternal rest January 28, 2001, in Nashville, Tenn. Left to cherish his memory are two nieces, Marie W. Byrd and Gail W. Harris; three sisters-in-law, Ann Watkins, Fannie Jackson and Amanda Thompkins; three brothers-in-law, Bennie Jackson, James and Rufus Penn; other relatives and friends. Maria E. Wroblewski, age 47, died Friday, January 26, 2001. She was a native of Poland, a local resident of Richmond, Va., for seven years. She owned the European Deli in Richmond, Va. She is survived by her husband, W. Jan Wroblewski of Richmond; one son, Daniel Wroblewski of Richmond; parents, Stainislaw and Mieczyslawa Slowinski of Poland; one sister, Malgorzata Ketlinski of Holland; two brothers, Bogdan Solle of Poland and Jacek Solle of Richmond. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2001, at 1:30 p.m. in St. Bridget's Church, 6006 Three Chopt Rd., Richmond, Va. 23226 by Rev. Albert Pinto. ALLEN
George "G.G." Oscar Allen, age 50, a native of New Kent, Va., died on Monday, October 2, 2000 in Port Richey, Florida. He was a 1968 graduate of New Kent High School and served in the United States Army from 1970 to 1972. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Louise Allen. He is survived by a son, George O. Allen Jr.; a daughter, Gina Marie Allen; a brother, Edward M. Allen Jr.; two sisters, Debra Allen Ward and Brenda Allen Brown; a fiancee, Terri Stewart, all of Lanexa. A funeral service will be conducted on Monday, October 9 at 10 a.m. at Liberty Baptist Church in Lanexa with burial in Washington Memorial Park. Judith Lorraine Anyango, 42, of Glen Allen, passed away October 4, 2000. She is survived by her husband, James Anyango; two children, Michael and Erica Anyango; her parents, Wayne and Martha Harder of Shumway, Ill.; a brother, Steve Harder, also of Shumway, Ill.; and a sister, Cathy Peak. She was a member of Greenwood UMC. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home’s Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends 5 to 8 p.m. Friday. Earl A. Beck, 80, of Mechanicsville, died Wednesday, October 4, 2000. Survivors include his wife, Virginia; son, David Beck and wife, Linda of Mechanicsville; stepsons, John DeBardeleben and wife, Natalie of Gastonia, N.C., and Robert DeBardeleben of Orlando, Fla.; also brother, William Beck and wife, Jeane of Mechanicsville; sister, Grace Nimmo and husband, Albert of Richmond; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mr. Beck was retired as general manager of Estabrook Corp. and former superintendent of Buildings and Grounds at V.C.U./M.C.V. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Mechanicsville Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 7, 2000, with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery. BOULDIN
Cedric Wilson Bouldin went to be with the Lord, Monday on October 2, 2000. A native of Mecklenburg County, he was born on August 6, 1922 to Sarah Wilson Bouldin and John Alexander Bouldin. He attended the private schools of Bluestone Mission and Thyne Institute. Later, he attended Saint Paul’s College. He married Hortense N. Williams in November, 1947. He was a faithful church member and worked diligently for twenty-five years as an employee of Mecklenburg County Public School system. Cedric Wilson Bouldin is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Hortense W. Bouldin of Clarksville, Va.; his children, Gloria H. Bouldin and John P. Bouldin, both of Richmond, Va., Paul L. Bouldin of Clarksville, Va. and Rhonda B. Gaines of Dallas, Texas. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 7, at Thyne Memorial Presbyterian Church, Chase City, Va. with Rev. Sylvester Bullock officiating. Burial will follow in the family cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7 until 8 p.m. at Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, Va. Arrangements by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, Va.
