Justine "Buck" Morris Sr. of Dawn, Va., departed this life April 2, 2001. He was retired from CSX Railroad Co. in Richmond, Va. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Irene Virginia Morris; one son, Justine Morris Jr.; one daughter, Joyce Bonner; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; four sisters, Fannie Hunter, Tamer Williams, Corine Morris and Ruby Campbell; one daughter-in-law, one sister-in-law, two brothers-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Remains rest at the Henry W. Dabney Funeral Home, 518 N. Washington Hwy., Ashland, Va. Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2001, at Ebenezer Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, 901 N. 32nd and "O" streets, Richmond, Va. Elder Howard Hill officiating. NEUMAN
Departed this life April 2, 2001, William Leroy Neuman, age 90, of 111 E. Roanoke St. He retired from Thalhimers (Bakery Dept.). He is survived by his loving wife, Lorraine G. Neuman; three sisters, Veria Jones, Bertha Davis and Eula Jones; one brother, George Bogg; several nieces, nephews and cousins, three sisters-in-law, and other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Ave. Funeral Saturday 2 p.m. at New Life Deliverance Tabernacle Church, 5450 Midlothian Tnpk., where remains will lie in state one hour prior to funeral time. Rev. Robert A. Winfree (pastor) officiating. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. Family and friends assemble at the church, 1:45 p.m. Saturday.

ODOM
Daisy Winston Odom of Richmond departed this life April 2, 2001, at Manor Care Nursing Home. She is survived by her daughter, Betty Odom; one sister, Geneva Lewis; two brothers, Lawrence and Phillip Winston; one granddaughter, Bernetta Cox; four sisters-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends, among them three devoted care-givers, Patricia Adam, Latisha McElroy and Louise Harris. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Chiles Funeral Home, 2100 Fairmount Avenue. Funeral services will be held Saturday, 1 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Manakin-Sabot, Va., Dr. L.A. Johnson Jr. officiating. Interment at Robinson Family Cemetery, Manakin-Sabot, Va.

OVERTON
Mabel Carmon Overton, 86, of Richmond, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001. She was predeceased by her husband, Leston Raymond Overton; and one grandson. She is survived by two daughters, Brenda Overton Grimes and her husband, Robert B. Grimes of Manassas, Va., Margaret Overton; and one son, David Overton and his wife, Pamela; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where the family will receive friends Friday 6 to 8 p.m., and where funeral services will be held Saturday 11 a.m. Interment Maury Cemetery.

PALMER
Mrs. Lorene Compton Palmer, 78, of Richmond, Va., formerly of Halifax County, Va., died Thursday morning, April 5, 2001, at Bon Secours St. Mary's Hospital in Richmond. Mrs. Palmer was born July 9, 1922, in Halifax County, the daughter of the late Joseph Faulkner Compton and the late Emma Layne Compton. Mrs. Palmer was the cherished wife of the late James Thomas Palmer for 42 years, and beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, neighbor, and friend to all. She is survived by three children, Jean Palmer Hudgins, James Thomas Palmer Jr. and Sandra Palmer Harris; two sons-in-law, Joseph Williamson Hudgins Jr. and Ray Scott Harris; one daughter-in-law, Susan Ray Palmer; five grandchildren, Melissa Hudgins Gillette and husband, William, Joseph Williamson Hudgins III, Hannah Rae Palmer, Jessica Layne Palmer and Scott Palmer Harris; one sister, Eleanor Compton Hammack; one brother, Carroll Walker Compton; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Palmer was also a sister of the late Richard Ray Compton of Roxboro, N.C., and the late Jonathan Lindy Compton of South Boston, Va. Mrs. Palmer was an active, longtime member of the Lakeside Baptist Church, and a retiree of Miller and Rhoads Department Store. She also participated in numerous charities in the Richmond area and beyond. The family will receive friends at the Powell Funeral Home, 1603 Wilborn Ave., South Boston, Va., on Friday, April 6, 2001, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., with the funeral service also at Powell's on Saturday, April 7, 2001, at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Halifax Memorial Gardens in South Boston.

PRYOR
Brown Fleming Pryor, 85, of Goochland, died April 4, 2001 in a Richmond hospital. He was born July 15, 1915 in Tazewell County, son of the late Alfred F. and Grace Brown Pryor. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Marvin Pryor; and one grandson, Joseph Brown Pryor. Brown was a life member and elder of Forest Grove Church and was a member and Past Master of Cabell Lodge No. 328 A.F. & A.M. in Kents Store. He was a farmer as well as worked for Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Company for 30 years, retiring in 1981. Mr. Pryor served as clerk of the Goochland General District Court from 1944 to 1969. He was very active in civic affairs having served on the Board of Directors of Goochland County Farm Bureau; was a charter member of the Goochland County Planning Commission, serving from 1956 to 1971; a member of the Goochland Forum Club; and a past member of the Hadensville Fire and Rescue Company. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lillian Pryor of 61 years; three sons and their wives, Ernest and Judy, Andrew and Brenda, Wayne and Pattie; eight grandchildren, Ernie Pryor, Kim P. Spence and her husband, Aaron, Susan, Mark, Cathy, Andy, Elizabeth and Stephen Ross Pryor; a great-granddaughter, Mattingly Reid Spence; and one brother, Alfred Pryor Jr. and his wife, Regina; and a sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Pryor. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Forest Grove Christian Church conducted by the Rev. Wayne Martin. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with full Masonic Rites. Family will receive friends at the Sheridan Funeral Home, Kents Store from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday and from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Forest Grove Church Building Fund, Hadensville, Va. 23067.

SMITH
Departed this life April 2, 2001, Troy "Grit" Smith. He is survived by his three children, Tatyona and Olivia Woodson, and Tranette Branheart; mother, Mary E. Smith; father, Earl Wright; fiancee, Nancy Gresham; grandmother, Pearl Smith of Manquin; three sisters, Pamela, Donna and Wanda Smith; half brother, Darrell Moss; three aunts, one devoted, Dorothy Smith of Manquin; two uncles, one great-aunt, a host of other relatives and friends. Remains rest at the Chiles Funeral Home, 2100 Fairmount Ave. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, 11 a.m. from Great Hope Baptist Church, 2101 Venable St. Rev. Earl Bledsoe officiating. Interment Rock Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, Manquin, Va. Remains will rest in church one hour prior to service.

STUTZ
Mrs. Catherine L. Stutz of Richmond died April 4, 2001. She was the widow of Aubrey P. Stutz Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Betty W. Royall; two granddaughters, Stacie R. Chappell and Casie W. Royall; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday (today) in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

THALL
Marie Theresa Thall died on April 4, 2001. Originally of Westbury, N.Y., she was the beloved wife of 55 years to Clem; loving mother of Kathleen, Jane, Kenneth, Timothy, Margaret (Peggy), and Patrick; dear sister of Helen, Alice, and the late John; cherished mother-in-law of Ernie, Maureen, Kathi, Tom and Tina; devoted grandmother of Stacey, Christine, Jessica, Ricky, CJ, Katie, Bailey, Allison and met in heaven by Brian. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made in memory of Marie to the local or American Cancer Society. Church services will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2001, at St. Bridget's Church in Richmond, Va. Burial services at Holy Rood in Westbury, N.Y., to be announced. THOMPKINS
Donald C. Thompkins Sr., age 77, of Richmond, formerly of Mannboro (Amelia County), died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, in Richmond, Va. He is survived by his wife, Lettie Lee Thompkins; children, Floria T. Johnson (Darnell) and Claudia T. Roney (Allen) of Amelia, Donald C. Thompkins Jr. (Dorothy) of Richmond, and Kenneth Thompkins of Washington, D.C.; stepchildren, Connie M. Bland (George), Petersburg, Norma Lee Owens (Aubrey) of Florida, and Bernice Johnson of Florida; sisters, Marian T. Bailey and Margie T. Brown of Richmond and Emily T. Blue of New York; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, six stepgrandchildren, many other relatives and friends. Funeral services Saturday, April 7, 1 p.m., Oak Grove Presbyterian Church, Mannboro, with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Paul M. Wilson officiating. Remains rest, V.Y. Scott Funeral Home, Hwy. 360 East, Amelia.

WAYT
Eleanor Brooks Wayt, 90, of Richmond, widow of James Brian Brooks, and wife of Hampton Heiskill Wayt Jr., died April 3, 2001. She is survived by her daughters, Melissa Brooks Smith and her husband, Gordon O. Smith of Satellite Beach, Fla., and Phoebe West Brooks of Richmond; her grandchildren, John Reed Harrison and his wife, Cynthia of Florida, Robin Harrison Naughton and her husband, Anthony of Ohio, and Heidi Harrison Wallace and her husband, Andrew of Florida, Kate Brooks Douglass of Pennsylvania, and Hayley Muse Rupersburg and her husband, Robert of Richmond; her stepgrandchildren, Howard J. Wayt Jr. and his wife, Susan of South Carolina, and Hampton C. Wayt of Tennessee; her great-grandchildren, Brian, Catherine and Abigail Harrison, and Kevin and Chelsea Naughton; and her stepgreat-grandchild, Virginia Wayt. She was educated at Hamilton College, Columbia University, the Art Students League and Traphagans School. A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 8, at 2 p.m. at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Children's Hospital or to Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church.

ARVIN
James H. Arvin, 80, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2000. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Burruss Arvin. He is survived by his son, James H. Arvin Jr. and his wife, Renee; grandson, Ashby C. Arvin; two brothers, Aubrey H. Arvin and his wife, Mabel, and Charles R. Arvin and his wife, Dorothy. Mr. Arvin was a dedicated employee of Marcellus Wright Cox & Smith, Architects, for 42 years. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, January 4 at First Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Christchurch School, Christchurch, Va.

BOWMAN
Phillip S. Bowman, 90, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed into eternal life December 18, 2000. He is survived by his daughter, Thelma Jodrey of Kelso, Wash.; son, Paul of Huntington Beach, Calif.; and eight grandchildren, Denise O'Hollaren, Paul Jodrey, Randolph Jr., David Bowman, Robert Parker, Tammy Parker Attema, Cassandra Rawlinson and Christina Marcotti; eight great-grandchildren, Emily Ruth and Timothy O'Hollaren, Ryan and Daniel Jodrey, Jason Attema, Shelby and Tessa Rawlinson and Grace Brandt. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd., where the family will receive friends after 8 p.m. Thursday, and where funeral services will be held 12:30 p.m. Friday. Interment Dale Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Osteoporosis Foundation.

CACCIOTTI
Joseph John Cacciotti Sr., 77, of Richmond, passed away January 2, 2001. He was born in Aidone, Sicily, on November 3, 1923. He lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., Cincinnati, Ohio, and Erie, Pa., before residing in Richmond, Va. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and graduated from Fordham University with a degree in chemistry. He was a research scientist with National Lead, General Electric, Texaco Experiment Inc., and a safety director at Philip Morris USA where he retired in 1988. He is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Lorraine Mary Cacciotti; sons, Joseph John Jr., Robert James and his wife, Cheryl, David John, Walter Jerome and his wife, Janet, and Richard Jason; daughter, Lorraine Janet; brother, Salvatore Angelo Cacciotti of Staten Island, N.Y.; sister, Marie Theresa Mangano of Sarasota, Fla.; grandchildren, Erica, Adrienne, Catherine and Taylor Cacciotti; stepgrandchildren, Tara, Lauren and Stacey Ligon; and many dear family and friends. The family will receive friends at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd., Wednesday through Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. with a vigil service at 7 p.m. Friday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 6, at St. Edward's Catholic Church, 2700 Dolfield Dr., at the corner of Huguenot Rd. and Woodmont Dr., followed by interment at Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation and/or the Virginia Kidney Foundation.

CARTER
Christine Brown Carter, 82, of Richmond, died December 31, 2000. She is survived by her sister, Ruth Brown Bowles; brother, Cecil Allan Brown; two nieces and two nephews. Mrs. Carter was retired from Eskimo Pie Corp, was a member of the Woman's Club, the Ginter Park Woman's Club and St. Matthews Episcopal Church. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, January 4, 2001 at St. Matthews Episcopal Church, 1101 Forest Ave. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthews Outreach.
