Jennie S. Rea
A funeral for Jennie S. Rea, 76, of Stuart, was held Wednesday at Howell Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart with Pastor Steve Hayes officiating. Burial was in the Gunter family cemetery on Wayside Road in Stuart.
Pallbearers were Sonny Swails, Larry Belcher, Jake Hoyle, Scott Martin, Butch Barbour, Herbert Diggs, Ronnie Haley and Junior Cassady.

James O. Walton Sr.
The funeral for James Otis Walton Sr., 71, of Martinsville, who died Dec. 30, 2005, was held Wednesday at Hairston Funeral Home with the Rev. Eric Hairston officiating. Burial was in Carver Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Mike Penn, Malvester Penn, Kenneth King, Gerald Gallant Sr., Chuck Edwards II, Daniel Price and Jerry Bowles.

William Arnold
William Arnold, 82, of 325 Soapstone Road, Ridgeway, died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006 at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.
Norris Funeral Services and Crematory will announce arrangements.

Ella J. Cannaday
Ella Jefferson Cannaday, 95, of Martinsville, died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.
She was born in Franklin County, Va. on Dec. 5, 1910, to Grover Cleveland Jefferson and Elizabeth Altice Jefferson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Pierce Cannaday; a daughter, Shirley Cannaday Walker; two sisters, May Jefferson Via and Viola Jefferson Riley; and four brothers, Victor Jefferson, Edward Jefferson, Raymond Jefferson and Claude Jefferson.
She was a homemaker and of the Primitive Baptist faith.
Surviving are a daughter, Doris Cannaday Ingram of Ridgeway; three sisters, Gertrude Jefferson Jones of Columbia, S.C. and Madeline "Pat" J. Chitwood and Mary Jefferson Brown, both of Wirtz; and a granddaughter.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Norris Funeral Services chapel with the Revs. Gary Edwards and Joey McNeil officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Burial Park.
The family will receive friends today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Norris Funeral Services and at other times at the home of her daughter, Doris Ingram, 172 Mulberry Road, Martinsville.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 715, Ridgeway, Va. 24148.

Harold Gravely
Harold Gravely, 77, of 635 Elijah Circle, Martinsville, died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.
He was born in Henry County on April 25, 1928, to Robert Lee Gravely and Julia Morrison Gravely. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Nannie Mae Fuller; and three brothers, Robert Gravely, Louis Gravely and Obie Gravely.
He retired from Pulaski Furniture Corp. after 35 years. He attended Galilee Missionary Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Olivia G. Gravely of the home; four daughters, Vickie Kidd of the home, M. LaVerne Gravely and Schenita Coles, both of Martinsville and Hazel Torian of Blairs; two sons, Harold A. Gravely of Martinsville and Lloyd S. Gravely of Winston-Salem; two sisters, Hattie Millner of New Carrollton, Md. and Jannie Booker of Greensboro; a brother, Benjamin Gravely of Martinsville; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. Michael Penn officiating. Burial will be in Carver Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends one half hour prior to the service on Thursday and at other times at the home.
Hines Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

Darryl W. Lackey
Darryl Wayne Lackey, 57, of Collinsville, died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006, at Blue Ridge Rehab Center in Martinsville.
He was born in Henry County on June 21, 1948, to Hartley Lackey of Collinsville and Marie Peters Lackey. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a sister, Gayle Lackey VanHaitsma.
He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam where he received the Vietnam Service Medal, two Bronze Service Stars and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was a member of the VFW and the Martinsville-Henry County Veterans Honor Guard. He also was a member of Stone Memorial Christian Church.
In addition to his father, surviving are a brother, Alan Lackey of Martinsville.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Stone Memorial Christian Church with Ministers Lawrence Harris and Tim Wood officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Burial Park with military honors given by the Martinsville-Henry County Veterans Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at McKee-Stone Funeral Services and at other times at the home of his brother, Alan Lackey, 208 Arrowhead Trail, Martinsville.
Memorials may be made to the Martinsville-Henry County Veterans Honor Guard, c/o Commander Ray Dunford, P.O. Box 1002, Collinsville, Va. 24078.
McKee-Stone Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

Virginia J. Stump
Virginia J. Stump, 60, of Fieldale, died Friday, Jan. 6, 2006, at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro.
She was born in Speedville, Va. to Woodrow Neaves and Reva Neaves. She was preceded in death by a son, Curtis Edward Johnson; and a brother, James Paul Neaves.
In addition to her parents, surviving are her husband, Larry Stump of the home; a daughter, Jennifer Stump of he home; two sons, Mark Johnson of Collinsville and Terry Stump of Oak Level; five sisters, Anna Hunt, Patricia Reynolds and Barbara Odell, all of Martinsville, Betty Amos of Bassett and Laura Clark of Ridgeway; and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bassett Funeral Service chapel. Burial will be in Roselawn Burial Park.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Bassett Funeral Service chapel.

Harry H. Taylor
The funeral for Harry H. Taylor, 63, of Axton, who died Jan. 4, 2006, was held Sunday at Mount Calvary Church with the Revs. Gary Robertson and Dale Wilson officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Burial Park.
Pallbearers were Kevin Wilson, Brad Wilson, Brian Punturi, Jody Denton, Garland Wilson, Jack Manning, Kenneth Inman, David Moxley, Alvin Taylor, Scott Gardner, Clifton Wells, Ronnie Wyatt, Roy Herndon, Billy Tatum and Stanley Manning.

Martin H. Wheeler
The funeral for Martin Hubert Wheeler, 67, of Ridgeway, who died Jan. 5, 2006, was held Sunday at Norris Funeral Services chapel with the Revs. Doug Ramsey and Gary Hughes officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Burial Park Abbey with military honors given by the U.S. Navy and the Martinsville and Henry County Honor Guard.
The pallbearers were Danny Brannock, Mitch Barnes, Billy Wheeler, Gary Wheeler, Ted Wheeler, David Ashby, Elmo Compton, Ronald Vernon, Ronnie Hatcher, Jason Wheeler and Matt Brannock.
Norris Funeral Services and Crematory was in charge of arrangements.

Roy L. White
Roy Lance White, 91, of Charlotte and formerly of Martinsville, died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006, in Charlotte Health Care.
He was born in Rockingham County, N.C. on Sep. 26, 1914 to Joseph White and Lula White. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ida White; a brother, Morris White; and a sister, Delphia Carter.
He was retired from W.M. Bassett Manufacturing in Martinsville, and was very active in local senior citizen groups.
Surviving are three sons, Roy William (R.W.) White of Waynesville, N.C., James Ronald White of Charlotte, N.C. and Michael Wayne White of Lakeland, Fl.; four daughters, Sally Frances Bryan of Richburg, S.C., Janet Clara Carter of Charlotte, N.C., Mary White Sutton of Charlotte, N.C. and Betty Wingfield of Snow Creek; one brother, Moyer White of Waynesville, N.C.; 18 grandchildren and many great- and great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Roselawn Chapel with Rev. J.D. Harmon officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today in the Roselawn Chapel.

Frances E. Wilbourne
HALIFAX -- Frances Elizabeth "Beth" Wilbourne, 59, of Halifax, died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006 at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Norris Funeral Services will announce arrangements.
