Anderson

Jean Allen Anderson, age 72, of Lynchburg, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 1996 in the Lynchburg General Hospital.

She was born on Jan. 28, 1924 in Rural Retreat, the daughter of the late William and Stella Grubb Allen. She was a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church in Lynchburg and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She was the widow of the late Frank M. Anderson Jr.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Brinda Anderson of Lynchburg; two daughters and son-in-law, Jan and Tony Johnson, and Sherri L. Anderson, all of Lynchburg; two grandsons, Jarod and Jason Johnson; one stepgrandson, David Phelps; one step-great-granddaughter, Taylor Phelps; two brothers, Robert Con Allen of Brooklyn, Wisc., and Fred Allen of Joppa, Md.; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 9, at 1 p.m. at the Lindsey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Mucha officiating. Interment followed in the Rosewood Memorial Gardens in Rural Retreat. The family requests that those who prefer may make memorials to the Rural Retreat United Methodist Church.

Bingham

Genette R. Rotenberry Bingham, age 59, of Saltville, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 1996 in Smyth County Community Hospital.

Survivors include her husband, W.F. "William" Bingham, Salem; one brother, Thomas A. Rotenberry, Roanoke; one sister, Bertha Surber, Broadford; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, in the D.R. Henderson Funeral Home with the Rev. Claude Oliver, Rev. Luther Watson and Rev. Clarence Frye officiating. Burial was in Mount Rose Cemetery.

Blevins

Earl W. Blevins, age 80, of Abingdon, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 1996 at his home.

He was a native of Smyth County and had lived in Abingdon for 34 years. He was the founder and owner of Empire Motor Lodge and Restaurant.

Mr. Blevins was a former automobile dealer in Smyth County, having worked for 15 years. He was a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America and a lifetime member of the Grosses Creek Baptist Church.

He was a former member of the board of directors of NationsBank, formerly Sovran Bank, and was a supporter of many civic and service organizations.

Survivors include his wife, Cora Teaters Blevins; five sons: Joe Allen "Bud" Blevins, Joel V. Blevins, Lowell W. Blevins, Rocky L. Blevins, all of Abingdon, and Willis P. Blevins, Marion; one daughter, Mrs. Joe L. (Pauline B. ) Anderson, Abingdon; five daughters-in-law, Violet Blevins, Debbie Blevins, Rosemary Blevins, Brook Blevins, all of Abingdon, and Wanda Blevins, Marion; one son-in-law, Joe L. Anderson, Abingdon; one brother, Gilbert L. Blevins, Marion; two sisters, Colene Combs, Chilhowie, and Marie Billings, Seven Mile Ford; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted today, Dec. 11, at 2 p.m. in Grosses Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Lloyd Sheets, the Rev. Fred Harcum and the Rev. Sheldon Jones officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be taken to the church two hours before services. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Grosses Creek Baptist Church building fund, c/o Jackie Blevins, HC61, Chilhowie, VA 24319.

Caviness

Gary Edward Caviness, age 48, of Dublin, formerly of Wytheville, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 1996 at his residence. He was the owner/operator of the Lawn Magic Super Vac Service and was a member of the Christiansburg Moose Lodge #1470. He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey Edward Caviness, and his father-in-law, Warren Morris.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Morris Caviness, of the home; one daughter, Jessica Valene Caviness of Johnson City, Tenn.; two stepsons, Warren Mills of Marion, and Jay Mills of Austin, Texas; two stepgrandchildren, Lauren Mills and Michael Warren Mills; his mother, Anna Spencer Caviness, Max Meadows; one brother and sister-in-law, Randall and Vickie Caviness of Max Meadows; his mother-in-law, Margaret Morris of Wytheville; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Margaret Anne and Dwight Grubb of Wytheville; special friends, James and Peggy Haynes of Dublin; one niece and three nephews: Randa Lynn Caviness, Gary Allen Caviness, Danny Grubb and Darrell Grubb.

Funeral services will be held today, Dec. 11, at 1 p.m. at Barnett's Funeral Chapel in Wytheville with the Rev. Donald Drake officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Narrows. The family suggests that those who prefer may make memorials to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 297, Wytheville, VA 24382.

Davidson

William Martin "Bud" Davidson, age 90, of Saltville, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 1996 in Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Charles Maiden.

He was a lifelong farmer in the Beaver Creek area. He was a retired employee of Sprague & Henwood and a member of Mountain View Church of God, New Quarry.

Survivors include his wife, Lucy W. Davidson, Saltville; two sons, Graham S. "Bear" Davidson, Chilhowie, and Charles Thomas Davidson, Saltville; one daughter, Mrs. Dale (Edith) Maiden, Bristol, Tenn.; one half-sister, Mary E. Green, Detroit, Mich.; seven grandchildren: Kennith Maiden, David Maiden, Graham S. Davidson Jr., Susan D. Roark, Donna Davidson, Dawn "Beth" Davidson and Stephanie McCready; three great-grandchildren: Stephanie Maiden, C. Chase Taylor and Stephanie Taylor; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Dec. 8, in D.R. Henderson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob Neace officiating. Burial was in the Elizabeth Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Saltville Rescue Squad.

Fox

Lucille Delp Fox, age 87, widow of Harold D. Fox, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 1996 in Smyth County Community Hospital.

She was an active member of the Mount Zion United Methodist Church and was a nurse at Richardson's Clinic for 39 years.

She is survived by one daughter, Marivene Bryant Slemp of Marion; two sisters, Edith Cassell of Galax, and Virginia Perrino of Elk Creek; one brother, Perk Delp of Independence; two grandchildren, Susan Bryant Massey of Inman, S.C., and Nancy Bryant Parker of Roanoke; four great-grandchildren, Brooke Massey, Michael Massey, Katherine Massey, and Ryan Parker; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Dec. 8, at 2 p.m. at Mount Zion United Methodist Church with the Rev. Carol Ferguson officiating. Burial was in Mount Zion Cemetery.

Hart

Christopher Wayne Hart, age 27, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 1996 in Sugar Grove. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Hart.

He is survived by his wife, Jamie Clement Hart of Marion; his biological mother, Mary Sue Siler and stepfather, Carl Siler of Detroit, Mich.; his "mothers," Catherine Copenhaver of Marion, and Virginia Haga of Chilhowie; two sisters, Anita Gardner of Chilhowie, and Angela Martin of Sugar Grove; two brothers, Gregory Hart of Sugar Grove, and Shawn Siler of Detroit, Mich.; several aunts, uncles, and many friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 12, at 2 p.m. at the Azen Baptist Church in Konnarock with Brother Don Stanley and Brother Allen Osborne officiating. Burial will follow in the Azen Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at Seaver- Brown Chapel. The body will be taken to the church one hour before the service.

Kestner

Robert L. "Maneater" Kestner, age 60, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 1996 at his home in Saltville.

He was a member of the Quarry United Methodist Church and a member of Holston River Coon Club.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Mitchell Kestner; two sons, Michael Kestner, Chilhowie, and David Kestner, Tannersville; two daughters, Sharon Montgomery and Carol Prater, both of Saltville; two sisters, Helen Doane, Glen Burnie, Md., and Irene States, Littleton, Colo.; four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 11, in D.R. Henderson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Harry Tindell and the Rev. Shirley Carter officiating. Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery.
