Rose Malinowski, 88, formerly of Morgan, died on May 4, 2010, in Santa Barbara, California, after a long bout with cancer.
She was born in Ludlow, Massachusetts, on April 10, 1922. She lived in Massachusetts until 1967 when she and her husband, Edward, who survives her, moved to Morgan Center. They spent many happy years there until retirement, and then spent summers in Vermont and winters in Arizona. In 2005, they moved to Goleta, California.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughter Marjorie and her husband, Guenther, of Las Vegas; her son Peter and his wife, Teri, of Santa Barbara, California; a sister, Nancy Cavin, who lives in Massachusetts; and a brother Walter in Arizona. She also leaves her two granddaughters, Susan Henrichs and Diane Hughes, and her great-granddaughter Isabelle Hughes.
She was a longtime member of the Orleans Country Club and the Circle of Friends in Morgan.

Anna Ceclia Taber

Anna Cecilia Taber, 80, of Irasburg died peacefully at her home on May 13, 2010.
She was born January 18, 1930, in Akra, Karmoy, Norway, a daughter of Gabrielle Teadora (Kristensen) and Tonnes Hakonsen.
Mrs. Taber still has extensive family in Norway, who love and miss her dearly as she did them. She arrived in America in the early 1950s. She married and worked all her life at various jobs all over the country, until retiring in Vermont.
She was a fun-loving lady who loved to garden, knit, sew, bake, cook, and sing. She traveled extensively, and she was extremely thoughtful, generous and charitable. Her stories of growing up a young girl in Nazi-occupied Norway during World War II were amazing. She made her family laugh and smile and feel special.
She is survived by two children: Sonya Curtis and her husband, Leigh, of Irasburg, and Sven B. Oftedal and his wife, Patricia, of Eastport, Maine; her five beloved grandchildren: Nigel Curtis of Irasburg and his very special girlfriend, Shatzitein Buck, Jaime Curtis and Scott Lane of Derby, and their son Liam; Shaun Curtis and his wife, Amber, of Irasburg and their son Kaden; Erik Oftedal of Livermore Falls, Maine; and Vicki Leary and her husband, Tom, of Burlington and their son Ronan. She is also survived by her sister Margot Lantern. She was predeceased by her parents; by her sister Hanna Fagerland; and by brothers Christen Hakonsen and Martin Hakonsen, all of Norway.
A celebration of her life will be held at her home in Irasburg with family and friends on Saturday, May 22, starting at noon.

Evelyn Mae Vieria

Evelyn Mae Vieria, 80, formerly of Island Pond, died in Waverly, Virginia, on April 4, 2010.
She was born December 3, 1930, a daughter of Lillian Mae (Goff) Perry and Thomas Perry.
She married Richard Vieria in 1953. They relocated from Massachusetts to Island Pond in 1972 to retire and to be close to Mrs. Vieria’s parents.
Island Pond is where she spent joyous days with their pet dog Buttons, numerous hours enjoying watching game shows on television, crocheting, knitting, sewing, and making crafts. Her true love was playing bingo several times a week. It was not uncommon for her granddaughters to spend several weeks of their summer vacation at Nana’s house joining in the bingo games, and learning to knit and make crafts.
Although it was a positive decision to relocate to the warmer climate in Florida in 2001, Mrs. Vieria found it difficult to be so far away from her family. She looked forward to her visits with the great-grandchildren, as they were often well overdue.
After a near fatal surgery in 2004, it was necessary for her oldest daughter, Sandi, and her husband to relocate to Florida to care for her. She relocated to Waverly, Virginia, in 2009 as she began her battle with cancer and spent her final days with other family.
She is survived by Richard Vieria of Zephyr Hills, Florida; daughters Sandra L. Kramer and her husband, Donald, of Smithville, Tennessee, Judith Cole and her husband, Raymond, of Waverly, Virginia; her grandchildren: Tami Wesoja and her husband, Robert, of Irasburg, Heidi Provoncha of Newport, and Terry Cole of Waverly; by her great-grandsons: Cody Whiting, Connor Gaboriault, Clint Provoncha, Casey Provoncha, and Corey Provoncha; by her only great-granddaughter, Caylin Lee-Mae Wesoja; by her sibling Ken Perry and his wife, Pat, of Florida; and by numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, and by her brothers Thomas Perry II and Edwin Perry.
At her request, there will not be any services held.

Patricia Voss

Patricia Voss of Barton died on Sunday, May 2, 2010, after an unsuccessful struggle with cancer. She died peacefully at home with members of her family around her.
Mrs. Voss was born on April 11, 1937, in Los Angeles, California, the youngest of five children of Marinus and Evelyn Feenstra.
She grew up in Redlands, California, where she graduated from Redlands High School in 1954. She attended Hope College in Michigan for two years before marrying Howard Snyder with whom she had three children. During the marriage she lived in several places including Hawaii, Virginia, and Northern California before returning to Redlands after her Air Force husband retired.
In 1981, she married David Voss. They spent the first 15 of their 29 years together in California before moving to Christ Church, Virginia, in 2006.
Mrs. Voss is survived by her second husband; her two daughters, Holly and Kelly; her son, Philip; one granddaughter; four grandsons; one great-granddaughter; two brothers, Ron and Kenneth; and her sister, Marilyn.
She will be best remembered for her involvement in quilting, which began as a hobby but grew into a lifetime of artistic expression. Although she worked in several quilt stores where she taught quilting, she will be remembered for inspiring would-be quilters, many of whom became lifelong friends. Her knack for blending colors and fabrics into traditional quilt patterns was truly amazing as was the prodigious number of quilts she completed, most of which were given away to family members and friends. Several of her individually pieced and hand-quilted creations won prizes in quilt shows, but she was much more motivated to teach others to quilt than to win prizes.
A memorial service in her honor will be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Newport, where she and her husband had been members since moving to Vermont. Memorial contributions may be made on her behalf to the Orleans-Essex Visiting Nurses Association and Hospice, Inc., without whom her peaceful and untroubled passing would have been impossible.

Anita Mae Bergeron

Mrs. Bergeron was born September 15, 1930, in Brownington Center, a daughter of Albert and Mary (Niquette) St. Pierre.
She is survived by her sons Paul D. Bergeron and his wife, Victoria, of Concord and Wayne Bergeron of Newport; by five grandchildren; by nine great-grandchildren; by her sister Rena St. Pierre of Glover; by many nieces and nephews and their families; and by her extended family of caregivers at Union House. She was predeceased by her parents; by her brother Delphis St. Pierre; by her sister Eva Young and her husband, Wilfred; and by infant brother George St. Pierre.
