Francis Ingoldsby, Jr.
Sept. 1, 1933-Nov. 22, 2010

The Ingoldsby family is saddened to share the unexpected passing of Francis H. Ingoldsby, Jr. of Northfield and Tunbridge, Vt., and Hong Kong, China.

Francis “Bud” Ingoldsby was born September 1, 1933, the eldest son of Elisabeth and Francis of Northfield, who pre-deceased him. A 1955 graduate of Harvard University, he served in the U.S. military from 1955-57. He subsequently received his MBA from Harvard in 1959.

A businessman, writer and lover of life, Bud lived most of his adult life in Asia, and particularly enjoyed building and flying radio controlled stunt planes with the Vermont Modelers Club in Berlin, Vt. He also competed in radio controlled airplane competitions in China.

Bud leaves a sister, Joan Brown of Palo Alto, Calif., a brother, Roger Ingoldsby of Tunbridge, Vt., and a sister, Elisabeth M. Ingoldsby of Deer Isle, Maine; along with nephews Jonathan Ingoldsby of Ventura, Calif., Sean Ingoldsby of Ojai, Calif., Nathan Ingoldsby of Tunbridge, Vt., and nieces and their families Jennifer, Ross and Olivia Gagnon of Northfield, Vt., and Amy and Saeed Khokhar of Urbandale, Iowa.

Francis was pre-deceased by his niece, Kelly Tuber, of Los Angeles, Calif.

Arrangements and services will be at the discretion of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Vermont Modelers Inc. c/o 32 Terrace Street, Montpelier, Vt. 05602.

Clara Bennett

Lillington, N.C. — Clara Bennett, 71, formerly of Hancock, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2011 at Universal Healthcare in Lillington, N.C.

Arrangements are pending at the Day Funeral Home in Randolph.

Joseph F. Bolger

Rochester — Joseph F. Bolger, 85, formerly of Fall River, Mass., died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011 at the Park House in Rochester.

He was born April 10, 1925 in Fall River, Mass., the son of George and Catherine (McCann) Bolger.

He attended Fall River schools and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, where he was stationed in Guam. Following his discharge from the service, he returned to school at Northeastern University, in Boston, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. He was married to Mary Brigham.

He owned and operated a plumbing supply business, Mil-Mar Associates, in Woburn, Mass., for over 40 years. He moved to Rochester in 2009. He ran in 25 Boston Marathons, and he also participated in triathlons and enjoyed skiing and tennis.

Survivors include his former wife, Mary Behre of Salisbury; a son, Timothy R. Bolger of Spring Hill, Fla.; two daughters, Anne Thrailkill of Rochester, and Catherine S. Flye of Seattle, Wash.; three grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no public services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Park House, 16 Park Row, Rochester, Vt. 05767.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Day Funeral Home in Randolph.

Martin R. Eldred

Randolph — Martin R. Eldred, 35, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 18, 2011, upon arrival at Gifford Medical Center.

He was born March 2, 1975 in Randolph; the son of Sheridan M. and Cleona (Noyes) Eldred. He had also lived in Morrisville and Hardwick, before returning to Randolph in 1994.

He had worked at Grand Union, and enjoyed caring for his cat “Diamond May, ” fishing, video games, watching movies, and drawing pictures.

Survivors include his mother, Cleona Hill, and step-father, Irwin Hill, both of Randolph; brother, Sheridan Eldred of Wolcott; stepbrother, Ivan Hill of Hartfield, S.C.; stepsisters, Lori Cochran of Hyde Park, Peggy Stark of Morrisville, and Wanda Wells of Bolton, Conn.

Memorial services were held Monday afternoon, Jan. 24 at the Day Funeral Home, with Rev. Kathy Eddy officiating. Remembrances were shared by Lisa Woods and Martin’s cousin, Michelle. A reception followed, hosted by friends at the Randolph House. Burial will be at a later date in Johnson.

Contributions in his memory may be made to the Randolph Food Shelf, P.O. Box 202, Randolph, Vt. 05060; or to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, Mass. 01701.

Clara Belle MacNeil Bennett

Clara Belle MacNeil Bennett, 71, of Lillington, NC, formerly of Hancock, VT, died January 24, 2011.

She was born April 5, 1939 in Hancock, VT, the daughter of Ralph and Gladys MacNeil.

She attended school at the Hancock Branch School through 8th grade and then attended Rochester High School.

Clara had lots of interests including playing cards, being an active league bowler in North Carolina, bingo, jigsaw puzzles, gardening and animals, especially horses. She was a NASCAR fan and also loved going to Thunder Road in Barre, VT, especially when her niece was a driver there. She was an excellent berry picker, a wonderful cook and did beautiful embroidery. Clara was a very generous person and always willing to lend a helping hand.

Survivors include a son, Steve Bennett of Sanford, NC; two daughters, Staci Peters and her husband Donald, and Jennifer Bennett and her husband Scott, all of Lillington, NC; and a sister, Eva Jesso and brother-in-law Keith Jesso of Hancock, VT. Grandchildren include Steve Bennett, Jr., Paul Casey, Joey and Daniel Peters, Lillian Bennett, and Melissa Winters; and four nieces, Jill, Janet, Juli and Jody; three great nieces, Garvi, Gwen, Sarah; and three great nephews Garrett, Ethan and Charlie.

She was predeceased by her parents, infant brother and grandson Jonathan Wayne Casey.

Arrangements are under the direction of Day Funeral Home in Randolph, VT. Visiting hours will be held at Day Funeral Home on Sunday, January 30, 2011 from 2-4pm. Clara’s service will be held at the Community Church of Hancock and Granville on Route 100 in Hancock on Monday, January 31 at 2pm

Wigren Services

Memorial services for Klinton M. Wigren, 68, of Randolph Center, who died January 16, 2010, were held Sunday, Jan. 23 at the United Church of Bethel.

Pastor Thomas Harty officiated. Rebecca Kondi was the keyboardist and the choir sang “Surely the Presence of the Lord Is in This Place” and “Let It Shine” (written by Rebecca Kondi). The congregation sang “In the Bulb There Is a Flower” and “I Was There to Hear.” Larry Noble played guitar and sang “Turn, Turn, Turn” and “The Vermont Song.” Klint’s granddaughter Katie Kondi sang “Amazing Grace.” Stories and remembrances were shared by Betsy Wigren, Becky and Bella Kondi, Dodi Ursitti and several friends. Barbara Begin offered a reading.

Calling hours were Saturday afternoon at the Day Funeral Home in Randolph.

Memorial contributions may be made to the New York State Ranger School Alumni Association, Attn: Gail Simmons, P.O. Box 48, Wanakena, N.Y. 13695.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Day Funeral Home in Randolph.

Eugene Kadlub

South Royalton — Eugene A. Kadlub, 89, died Tuesday morning, Feb. 22, 2011 at Gifford Medical Center.

Arrangements are pending at the Day Funeral Home in Randolph.

Rice Services

A memorial service for Rhoda Rice of Randolph who died February 6, 2011 will take place Saturday, Feb. 26 at 2 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Royalton.

A reception will follow. Burial will take place at a later date.

Roland J. Poulin

Randolph — Roland Joseph Poulin, 86, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2011 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.

He was born August 5, 1924 in St. Juste Province, Quebec, Canada; the son of Romeo and Marie-Ange (Vallieres) Poulin. He married Theresa Groleau in Randolph on June 23, 1945.

He logged with horses for many years, and had worked for Bucky Rogers Construction. He had been custodian and crossing guard at the Randolph Graded School, and the Randolph Center and East Randolph Elementary Schools. He had been a trailmaster for the Snowgoers Snowmobile Club.

He enjoyed traveling with his wife, watching his sons and grandsons racing snowmobiles and at Thunder Road, hunting, and tending to his cows, which he affectionately referred to as “his gals.” He was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church and the Canadian Club.

Survivors include his sons, Richard Poulin of Wisconsin Dells, Wisc., and Roger Poulin of Randolph; daughters, Patricia Haupt of Braintree and Pauline Poulin of Randolph; brother, Leo Poulin of Enfield, Conn.; sister, Lorianna Davis of Randolph; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Theresa on Dec. 31, 2010; a brother, Raymond Poulin; and a sister, Fernande LeFebvre.

Calling hours for Roland and Theresa will be Sunday, Feb. 27 from 2-4 p.m. at the Day Funeral Home in Randolph. A mass will be held in the spring.

Contributions in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 55 Day Lane, Williston, Vt.05495.
