MISS FLORENCE GIGNAC

ST. ALBANS -- Miss Florence Gignac, 97, a native of Sainte Jean sur Richelieu, Quebec Canada and more recently of the St. Albans area, died early Thursday morning, Jan. 22, 2004, at Redstone Villa in St. Albans City. Florence also resided at Giordano Manor in Swanton for over three years.

Florence was born in St. Armand, Quebec, Canada on May 30, 1906, the daughter of the late George and Mary (Brault) Gignac.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, at 2 p.m. from the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton. Father John J. Meagher, SSE will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until the hour of the funeral. Interment will follow in Gignac family lot in St. Mary's Cemetery, Swanton.

Gifts in Florence's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Kidder Memorial Home.

ALLAN L. DAY

JERICHO / JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Mr. Allan L. Day, age 88, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, in Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla., following several years of failing health. He was born March 12, 1915, in Essex, son of the late Warren L. and Bernice (Kinsley) Day.

He graduated from Jericho High School in 1932 and attended Norwich University and Baypath Institute. Allan served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was an electrical engineer for many years in the Aerospace Industry in California and retired in 1976 from General Dynamics in Pomona, Calif. He was a 32nd degree mason having been a member of the Free and Accepted Masons for over 62 years.

His survivors include his wife, Florence (Brown) (Eden) Day of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughters, Janet L. Day of St. Albans, Bernice L. Day of Anaheim, Calif.; son Allan L. Day Jr. of Pasadena, Calif.; three grandchildren, Stephanie Smith of San Francisco, Calif., Theron Jacobs of San Diego, Calif., Drew Jacobs of Portland, Ore.; his sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Day Powell, widow of Archie Powell, of Jericho; brother Stanley and his wife Sue Day of Montpelier; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Elfriede L. (Elsner) Day; and his brother, Howard Day, both in 1980.

Private graveside services will be held next spring with interment in the Day family lot in Pleasant View Cemetery in Jericho. There are no public calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Vermont, 75 Talcott Road, Suite 40, Williston, Vt. 05495.

KATHLEEN M. KEHOE

ENOSBURG FALLS -- Kathleen M. Kehoe, age 89, passed away Monday, Jan. 19, 2004, at the Redstone Villa Nursing Home in St. Albans.

She was born May 15, 1914 in Enosburg Falls the daughter of the late Stephen and Ila (Murphy) Kehoe.

Miss Kehoe was a life long resident of Enosburg Falls and a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She was a 1932 graduate of Enosburg Falls High School and then graduated from University of Vermont in 1934 with a degree in Education. Her teaching career started in Berkshire Center where she taught for five years. In 1940 she started teaching at Enosburg Elementary School and was Principal for many of those years retiring in 1978. Miss Kehoe was a member and had been very active in the Franklin County Teachers Association, a member and past president of the Vermont Teachers Association and a member of the National Teachers Association and the Delta Kappa Gamma Society.

Miss Kehoe does not have any living relatives but leaves many dear friends, including Veronica and Robert Parent of Enosburg Falls, whom were her care givers for the past 20 years; she is also survived by her dog, Beauty.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Enosburg Falls with Reverend Benedict Kiely celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.

A time of visitation will be held Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.

URSULA A. (CHICOINE) KIMBALL

BURLINGTON -- Ursula A. (Chicoine) Kimball, age 79, passed away Tuesday morning, Jan. 20, 2004, at the Burlington Health & Rehab Nursing Home.

She was born in Burlington, Aug. 19, 1924, the daughter of the late William and Margaret (Gallant) Chicoine.

Ursula was employed as a Care Giver in the Burlington area as well as New Hampshire for many years. During her lifetime she enjoyed doing several handiwork projects, such as embroidery, knitting and crocheting. She was also an active member of the Civil Air Patrol for many years.

She is survived by three sons, Alan Kimball of Wimberly, Texas, Ronald Kimball of Winter Springs, Fla., and Michael Kimball of Newport, N.H.; two daughters, Catherine Kimball of Burlington, and Pauline Kimball of San Bernadino, Calif.; a son-in-law, Nelson Wescomb of Contoocock, N.H.; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, William Chicoine and his wife Amanda of Garden City, S.C., and Alfred Chicoine of Commerce City, Colo.; two sisters, Marjorie DeGraff of Essex Junction, and Dorothy Germain of Winooski; three sisters-in-law, Carolyn Chicoine of South Burlington, Leona Chicoine of Houston, Texas, and Norma Chicoine of Colchester; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by two daughters, Geraldine Wescomb, and Judith Kimball; four brothers, Ervin, Raymond, Ralph, and Arthur Chicoine; two sisters, Helen Medlar and Mary Chicoine.

In keeping with Ursula's wishes, she has donated her body to the Anatomy Program at the University of Vermont. There will be a memorial service held at a later date at the convenience of the family.

DOROTHY MAY SACCUCCI

SWANTON -- Mrs. Dorothy May Saccucci, 92, a resident of the Swanton community since 1983 and a native of Danville, died late Saturday evening, Jan. 17, 2004, at the Haven Health Center in St. Albans Town.

Born in Danville on Jan. 14, 1912, she was the daughter of the late William Gilson and Julia May (Roy) Bellville. She was a graduate of Lyndon Institute and also attended the Littleton, N.H., School of Nursing.

She worked most of her lifetime as a seamstress and enjoyed craft-making.

Dorothy leaves her daughter, with whom she made her home, Audrey Foster and her husband, George, of Swanton; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son, Donald Crosby in April of 1993; and a granddaughter, Jenny Crosby in December of 1996; and a brother, Raymond Bellville, in 2001.

Private Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of the family. The Reverend Dan Brueckner, pastor of the Swanton Christian Church will officiate. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. There will be no public calling hours.

In lieu of flowers gifts may be made in her memory to the Make A Wish Foundation of Vermont, 100 Dorset Street, South Burlington, Vt. 05403.

CECILE M. (BARBER) OUELLETTE

BRISTOL, Conn. / RICHFORD, Vt. -- Cecile M. (Barber) Ouellette, age 85, passed away Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004 in Bristol, Conn.

She was born in Richford, Nov. 14, 1918, the daughter of the late Ovide and Hattie (Touchette) Barber.

She attended elementary school in Richford and high school at Sacred Heart in Newport. Most of her adult life she resided and worked in Hartford, Conn.

She is survived by five children and their families: Barbo, Susan, Dianne, Michael and Edward, all of Connecticut; two sisters, Eleanor Heald of Richford, and Cora Moncada, of Putney, Vt. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Ouellette; five brothers, Carl, Felix, Fred, Nelson and Arthur; and three sisters, Ellarena, Lydia and Lucy.

In keeping with Cecile's wishes there will be no funeral services.

FREDERICK A. WRIGHT

BLACK HAWK, S.D. -- Frederick A. Wright, 71, of Black Hawk, S.D., died Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, at Rapid City Regional Hospital in South Dakota.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Wright of Black Hawk; two daughters, Victoria Wright, of Black Hawk, and Merrie Wright, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; one son, Jeffrey Wright; two sisters, Una Howard, of St. Albans, Vt. and Sally Follett, of Sierra Madre, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at a later date. Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home in Rapid City, S.D. is in charge of arrangements.

Donations in Frederick's name may be made to the American Heart Association.

DOROTHY H. FRAZIER

COLCHESTER -- Dorothy H. Frazier, 94, of Colchester, died at Birchwood Terrace Healthcare on Friday, Jan. 16, 2004. She was born in Ascutney, Vt. on April 16, 1909, the daughter of the late John Calvin and Minerva (Mack) Hall. She married Kenneth Frazier, who predeceased her in 1996.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Ann Davis and her husband, Merton, of Colchester, and Olive Bishop and her companion, Richard Rice, of Richford, Vt.; a stepdaughter-in-law, Lucy Marston and her children; five grandchildren, Melody M. Poulin, Robert James Carton, Diane Dorothy LaRose, Lisa and Shelly Savard; nine great-grandchildren, Lena, Marcy, Ben, Anna, Jory, Brittney, Elizabeth, Jake, and Jessy. She was predeceased by her two sisters and two brothers.

Dorothy loved gardening, cooking (especially strawberry rhubarb pie), but most of all she loved her family and enjoyed visiting with her grandchildren.

Burial will take place in the family lot in the spring at Lakeview Cemetery.

JOHN THOMAS JAJER

ISLE LA MOTTE -- John Thomas Jajer, 81, a resident of the Isle La Motte community since 1963, died early Saturday morning, Jan. 17, 2004, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans City.

A native of New Milford, Conn. he was born on Dec. 5, 1922, he was the son of the late John Sr. and Margaret Carroll Jajer. He attended schools in Connecticut and on June 20, 1950, was married to the former Isabel L Griggs who predeceased him on Jan. 16, 1984.

For most of his working life John was self-employed as a carpenter and was a part of many large construction projects.

He faithfully served his country in the United States Navy assigned to the USS Rodman in the Mediterranean and Atlantic Campaigns during World War II. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Andrew B. Mygatt Post 1672 in New Milford, Conn. and a former member of the American Legion, Creller-Landon Post 60 in Alburg, Vt.

John leaves his daughter with whom he made his home, Carol Mashtare of Isle La Motte; two granddaughters, Mary Manor and her husband Kevin of Rouses Point, N.Y. and Wendy Favreau and her husband Adlai of Mooers Forks, N.Y.; six great-grandchildren, Casey and Michael Manor of Rouses Point and Briana and Brandon Mashtare and Elaina and Evan Favreau all of Mooers Forks. He is also survived by four brothers, Frank, Vincent, Martin and Morris Jajer all of New Milford, Conn., as well as family members including, John and Margaret Marsh of Bridgewater, Conn., Gloria Wagner of South Carolina and Clint Deo of Isle La Motte; and several nieces and nephews.

John's family wishes to offer very special thanks to the staff of the Northwestern Medical Center and the Visiting Nurse Association as well as his caregiver Edna Bradley for all the love, care and support given to John during his illness.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004, at 4:30 p.m. from the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton. Father John J. Meagher, SSE will officiate. Entombment will follow in the Grand Isle Village Cemetery Receiving Vault to await interment there in the spring. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday afternoon from 3:30 p.m. until the hour of the funeral.

Gifts in John's memory may be made to the Northwestern Medical Center, P.O. Box 1370, St. Albans, Vt. 05478, or to the Visiting Nurse Association, 1110 Prim Road, Colchester, Vt. 05446.
