Paul J. Campbell

FAIR HAVEN — Paul Joseph Campbell, 83, a resident of Tallahassee, Fla., and summer resident of Fair Haven, died July 24, 2001, at Eden Park Nursing Home in Rutland after a brief illness.

He was born Feb. 11, 1918, in Boston, son of James J. and Catherine (Rowan) Campbell.

He was a self-employed carpenter.

Mr. Campbell was a U.S. Army veteran, serving with the 14th Photo Reconnaissance Squadron during World War II. He received the Distinguished Unit Badge, Good Conduct Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon Victory Medal.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 49 of Fair Haven.

He was an avid sportsman and golfer and represented the state of Vermont in the 1991 Senior Olympics in Syracuse, N.Y. He was a Little League baseball coach for many years and played in the softball league in Fair Haven.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Winifred Plue (Oram) Campbell, who died in 1989; a sister, Marion Williams; and a brother, Kenneth Campbell.

The memorial service will be held at a later date and announced in the Rutland Herald.

Arrangements are under the direction of Durfee Funeral Home in Fair Haven.

Maurice A. Wardwell

CHITTENDEN — The graveside committal service for Maurice A. Wardwell, 95, who died March 19, 2001, will be held Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in Horton Cemetery in Chittenden with the Rev. Edward Elliott, pastor of North Chittenden Wesleyan Church, officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Proctor Fire Department, Main Street, Proctor, 05765.

Arrangements are under the direction of Barnard Funeral Home in Pittsford.

Thomas V. Horton Jr.

WEST DOVER — Thomas V. Horton Jr., 23, died July 24, 2001, after a swimming incident at Snow Lake.

He was born July 19, 1978, son of Thomas V. Horton Sr. of Patterson, N.Y., and Margaret (Martinez) Horton of Brattleboro.

He attended local schools, including Wilmington High School.

Mr. Horton worked at Snow Lake Lodge as a waiter and bartender and helped with catering throughout the area.

He loved fishing and skiing and had recently started playing golf.

Survivors include his parents; an aunt, Anna Farkas of West Dover, with whom he had resided in earlier years; and several cousins.

The service to celebrate his life will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Covey & Allen Funeral Home, 215 East Main St. in Wilmington, with the Rev. John Cerrato officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery in Wilmington.

A time of fellowship will be held at Mount Snow at Snow Lake Lodge Cabana after the burial.

Friends may call Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Arrangements are under the direction of Covey & Allen Funeral Home.

Joseph P. Krupsky

SOUTH LONDONDERRY — Joseph P. Krupsky 86, of Smith Haven in South Londonderry, died July 24, 2001, at Springfield Hospital.

He was born Dec. 3, 1914, in Boston, son of Julius and Helen Krupsky.

He attended schools in Springfield and graduated from Springfield High School.

Mr. Krupsky married Jaska Graves in October 1939. She died in 1983.

He was foreman at Vermont Foundry in Springfield for more than 20 years and later at General Electric in Ludlow for more than eight years.

He enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include a son, Joseph P. Krupsky Jr. of Las Vegas; a daughter, Diana Litchfield of West Pawlet; a brother, John Krupsky of Troy, N.Y.; a sister, Mary Chase of West Brookfield; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no calling hours.

The graveside service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Springfield with the Rev. Joseph Ramono, pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.

Nellie L. Tucker rites

LUDLOW — The memorial service for Nellie Lary Laramie Tucker, 81, who died July 21, 2001, was held Wednesday at Ludlow Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Deibler officiating. Burial was held later in the day in Wells Cemetery in Canaan, N.H.

A reception was held at the church following the memorial service.

Organist was Kathi Deibler.

Arrangements were under the direction of Adams & Kenney Funeral Home in Ludlow.

Charles L. Aiken rites

SPRINGFIELD — The funeral service for Charles L. Aiken, 76, who died July 21, 2001, was held Wednesday at Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield with the Rev. Harry Peatt, pastor of Perkinsville Community Church, officiating. Burial followed in Vermont Veterans Cemetery in Randolph Center.

The Chester American Legion Post 67, Ludlow American Legion Post 36 and Springfield Veterans of Foreign Wars 771 provided military honors.

Bearers were Ernie Aiken of Dawson Springs, Ky., Harold Aiken of Mayflower, Ark., Fay Aiken of Knoxville, Tenn., and Bruce Schulz of Woodstock.

Arrangements were under the direction of Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.

Lynn P. Murray

BRAINTREE — Lynn P. Kiely Murray, 44, formerly of East Chester, N.Y., died July 24, 2001, at her home.

She was born Jan. 26, 1957, in New Rochelle, N.Y., daughter of Daniel and Elizabeth ( Fonda) Kiely.

She graduated from The School of the Holy Child in Rye, N.Y., in 1975, Michigan State University in 1979 and the Law School at St. John’s College in New York City.

She married Richard J. Murray in 1994. He died in 1997.

Mrs. Murray was a paralegal for Dewey and Ballantine in New York and a private practice lawyer in Long Island, N.Y., and Bethel.

She was a member of Sts. Donatian and Rogatian Catholic Church in Randolph.

She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.

Survivors include her son, Ian R. Kennedy of Braintree; a brother, Daniel Kiely of Yorktown Heights, N.Y.; a sister, Lisa Effler of Loveland, Colo.; and an aunt and uncle.

The funeral Mass will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. at Sts. Donatian and Rogatian Catholic Church in Randolph with the Rev. John Milanese officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery in Braintree.

Calling hours will be Friday from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Day Funeral Home.

Arrangements are under the direction of Day Funeral Home in Randolph.

Lillian C. Knipes

Lillian C. Knipes, 74, of Rutland died July 25, 2001, at Rutland Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.

She was born Aug. 22, 1926, in Brandon, the daughter of Walter and Ruth (Gove) Stone.

She married Julius H. Knipes. He died in 1991.

Survivors include nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was predeceased by three brothers, Robert Stone, Ernest Stone and Leon Stone.

There will be no calling hours.

The graveside service will be held Saturday, Aug. 4, at 11 a.m. in East Clarendon Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Moston officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.

Eugenie M. Roussil

Eugenie M. Roussil, 95, of Rutland died July 25, 2001, at Eden Park Nursing Home.

She was born July 23, 1906, in Watervliet, N.Y., the daughter of Lawrence C. and Julie (Coulon) Howard.

She was a member of St. Peter’s Church and an auxiliary member of Sodality of Most Holy Rosary and Legion of Mary.

Survivors include two sons, Theodore A. Roussil of Arnold, Md., and Eugene L. Roussil of Rutland; four daughters, Barbara Fredette, Jacqueline Garofano, Mary Roussil and Ann Calvin, all of Rutland; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Theodore Roussil in 1983; a brother, Jack E. Howard; and a sister, Emily Sherlock.

The funeral Mass will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Clifford Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sisters of St. Joseph Retirement Fund, Convent Avenue, Rutland, 05701.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.

Allan C. Kane

KILLINGTON — Allan C. Kane, 69, died July 25, 2001, at Valley Regional Hospital in Claremont, N.H., after a long illness.

He was born May 16, 1932, in Bethpage, N.Y., the son of Louis and Katherine (Chapple) Kane.

He was a former resident of Long Island, N.Y., and had been employed as an engineer for the Grumman Aircraft Co., retiring in 1994 after 40 years of service.

Mr. Kane served in the U.S. Army.

He enjoyed biking, skiing and kayaking.

Survivors include three sons, Stewart Kane, Stephen Kane and David Kane; a granddaughter; and his friend and guardian, Richard Garofalo of Pittsfield.

Friends may call today from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Aldous Funeral Home, 44 N. Main St., Rutland. A prayer service will be held at 3 p.m. by the Rev. Thomas V. Mattison of Christ the King Church.

GOSHEN — Faith M. Havens, 44, died July 25, 2001.
