Bridesmaids were Amy Cornell, sister-in-law of the bride, and Angela Hess. Casey Greene, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. Tim Jakubowski, brother of the groom, was best man. Spencer – Reed

GRANITEVILLE – Jessica Marie Reed of Graniteville and Andrew Glenn Spencer of Williamstown were married July 12, 2003, in a double-ring ceremony performed by Francis Davenport, Justice of the Peace, at the Town and Country Resort in Stowe.

The bride is the daughter of Steven John Reed and Betsy Louise Reed of Plainfield. The groom is the son of Herman Merrill Spencer and Lillian Ester Spencer of Williamstown.

The matron of honor was Cindy MacRitchie, sister of the groom. Other attendants were Cortnee Reed and Jill Dealmeida, cousins, and Jessica Richardson and Cindy Barney, best friends.

Best men were Anthony Spencer, brother of the groom, and Benjamin Shangraw, best friend. Ushers were Herman Spencer III, brother of the groom, Michael O’Neill, uncle of the groom, and David Lauder, co-worker of the groom.

The flower girls were Emma O’Neill, cousin of the groom, and Anna Dealmeida, cousin of the bride.

The ring bearer was Dylan MacRitchie, nephew.

The ceremony was held outside at The Town and Country Resort. A reception followed.

The couple honeymooned in Aruba.

The bride graduated from Spaulding High School in Barre in 2001. She is attending Norwich University in Northfield. She plans to graduate in 2005 with a degree as an RN, BSN. She is a personal care attendant in Williamstown.

The groom graduated from Williamstown High School in 1998. He attended New England Culinary Institute in Montpelier from 1998 – 2001. He is a sales associate at Midstate Dodge in Berlin.

The couple resides in Graniteville.

Sanborn – Fennimore

GROTON – Janeen Wernecke Fennimore and Martin Willard Sanborn were united in marriage September 27, 2003 at the First Congregational Church in Newbury. The Rev. Susan Tarantino performed the ceremony. Salenda Girardin played the organ. Anne Marie Wycoff, sister of the groom, gave the reading.

The bride is the daughter of Guther and Debora Wernecke of Bradford.

The groom is the son of William and Mary Sanborn Jr. of Bradford.

The matron of honor was Cathleen Tracy, sister of the bride. The best man was William Sanborn, III, brother of the groom. The ring bearers were Clayton Fennimore, Cole, Taylor and Will Sanborn, sons of the bride and groom. Groomsmen were Steve Slack, cousin of the groom, Timothy Patch, Rod Cook, Andy Tomlinson and Randy Huntington, friends of the groom.

The reception following the ceremony was held at the Happy Hour Restaurant in Wells River.

The bride graduated from Oxbow High School in 1990 and Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in 1995. She is employed as a pharmacist at Kinney Drugs in Bradford.

The groom graduated from Oxbow High School in 1984 and the Vermont Police Academy in 1998. He is employed as a business manager at Walker Imports in Berlin.

Mr. and Mrs. Sanborn live in Groton.

65th Wedding Anniversary

WATERBURY - Donald and Ethel Byrd of Waterbury were given a party to celebrate their 65th Anniversary on November 1, 2003 by their children, Linda Lamson and her husband, Donald; Larry Byrd and his wife, Carol; and Donald Byrd and his wife, Sharon.

The couple's children picked them up in a limo and brought them to the Waterbury Center Grange, where about 70 of their friends and realtives joined in the celebration.

Mr. and Mrs. Byrd were presented with flowers, gifts, and cards.

They were both born in the Islands, where they met. They were later married on Nov. 2, 1938, in South Hero. They moved to Burlington in 1942, where they worked at the American Woolen Mill and had their children. They moved to Waterbury in 1954, then to Fayston in 1968, where they remodeled their camp into a home. They moved to their present home on the Bolton Road in 1984. They both worked as psychiatric physicians until their retirement in 1979.
