Theresa Marie Ross
September 2, 1952 - February 13, 2010
On February 13, 2010, Theresa 'Terry' Ross passed away peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by her loved ones. Terry was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey on September 2, 1952 to Kenneth and 'Dot' Reiman. Terry was the eldest of two daughters. Due to her father's military service, Terry lived in New Jersey, France, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee and California before graduating from La Sierra High School in Carmichael, CA in 1970. She attended Fort Wright College of the Holy Names in Spokane, WA.
Terry lived near Chewelah, WA for a time with her first husband, Ray Rickers. Terry's life as a mother and a homemaker began when she married Robert Ross of Chewelah, WA. She helped to raise his two children, Tiana and Cary Ross, and bore him two more children, Credence and Benjamin Ross. In 1988, she met and fell in love with Ken Robbins, who would be her companion for the remaining 22 years of her life.
Terry followed her life path exactly as she saw fit, disregarding the norms and expectations of society. She lived simply and close to the earth. Her many interests and passions included organic gardening, sustenance farming, self-sufficiency and natural health. She was skilled in many crafts including sewing, beading, felting and soap making. Throughout the years, she made her own cheese, butter and yogurt from her own farm fresh milk, canned and pickled her own vegetables, made her own salsas, jams and jellies, and baked her own bread. She shared with those around her the rewards of growing, harvesting and eating real foods. She was a healer as well as a teacher, and possessed a strong spirituality. Even though she was a very practical woman, this spirituality afforded her the wisdom and perspective to never be too greatly troubled by worldly concerns and problems. This wisdom and perspective served her even during her final days, allowing her to be without attachments of fear of death.
Terry is survived by her parents, Kenneth and 'Dot' Reiman of Spokane, WA; husband, Ken Robbins of Gifford, WA; sister, Ellen Lloyd of Port Angeles, WA; children and spouses, Credence and Andrea Ross of Friday Harbor, WA; Benjamin and Nomi Ross of Friday Harbor, WA; Cary and Colleen Ross of Spokane, WA; Tiana and Sam Gregg of Palouse, ID; eight grandchildren and numerous extended family members and friends.
Terry's family would like to thank Hospice of Spokane as well as all the dear friends, neighbors and relatives who were so loving and supportive during her final days.

Joanne Marie Horton
July 4, 1947 - January 31, 2010
Joanne M. Horton, a 5 year resident of Metaline Falls, WA passed away on Jan. 31, 2010 in Colville, WA at the age of 62. Joanne was born on July 4, 1947 in Duncan, B.C. the daughter of William Francis Breeze and Marie Ethel (Hatch) Breeze.
She was raised and attended school in British Columbia and moved with her family as they traveled between work opportunities. Joanne had an adventurous spirit and left home to join the Canadian Navy. Her journey began by train as she traveled across Canada to CFB Cornwallis in Nova Scotia. Jo was very proud of the fact that she excelled in all of her training and was often at the top of her class. She was assigned to a base in Germany where she met a young American serviceman named George Horton (Jerry). They were wed on June 23, 1970 in Basel, Switzerland by a magistrate to compliment their church wedding in Lahr, Germany. Joanne left her military service and in 1972, she and Jerry moved to San Marcos, TX. Joanne continued her education while in Texas and became a licensed practical nurse. They were then stationed in Great Falls, MT from 1975 to 1977. While in Great Falls, they adopted their daughter, Kelly. As a family, they moved with Jerry's Air Force career, first to the Spokane Valley, WA and then to Athens Greece. She worked in the community clinics and emergency rooms wherever the family was stationed and had a wonderful heart to those in need. She would assume the care of the once forgotten stuffed animals, nurse them back into shape with love and handmade outfits and surrender them into the arms of children who had nothing. She continued her nursing in Dover, Delaware and then on to Rome, NY. She stayed active in her daughter's education and was always attentive to the needs of her family. In 1993 the family moved to Anchorage, AK where she continued her nursing. Upon retirement, they began to look for a place to settle and moved into their mountain retreat near Metaline Falls, WA on Jan. 31, 2005. Lost, abandoned animals found their way to Joanne. She left four cats and geriatric Lab (15 years old) for Jerry's company.
Joanne and Jerry rode their way into many life experiences as they traveled much of Europe by motorcycle. She embraced each holiday by creating gift baskets, always adorned with a toothbrush for good oral hygiene, and treats appropriate to the occasion. Joanne had a great love for her family and was a collector of the sentimental items from which her family had moved on or outgrown. She was also quite accomplished in the crafts of knitting and crochet. Her pastime was filled with the reading of books from history to the mysteries. At the end of almost every day, Joanne topped off the evening by indulging her sweet tooth with an ice cream delight.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father.
Joanne is survived by her husband at the home; daughter, Kelly Suchodolski of Anchorage, AK; a grandson, Tyler Suchodolski of Anchorage, AK; siblings, Kathy Rasmussen and husband, Allen of Rouleau, Saskatchewan, Larry Breeze and wife, Debbie of St Catherines, Ontario, Mike Breeze and wife, Wendy of Trail, B.C and Terri Breeze and Anita of Vancouver, B.C.

The Danekas Funeral Chapel and Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.

LLOYD REEVES
June 15, 1921 - January 23, 2010
Lloyd Reeves, 88, an 11 year resident of Stevens County, WA. passed away on January 23, 2010 in Colville. Lloyd was born on June 15, 1921 in Gordon, Nebraska to Willie and Rosa Reeves.
Lloyd was raised in White Clay, Nebraska in a sod house along with 4 brothers. He was the second born of 5 boys. He lost his younger brother Melvin at the age of 7 when he got lost in freak snow storm. This was a tragic loss for his entire family.
Lloyd's love of gardening began at the age of 9 when he was allowed his own space in the garden. He enjoyed gardening as a hobby and as large source of food for his family in later years. His love of growing vegetables and sharing produce with family, friends and neighbors lasted until the age of 87.
Lloyd attended grade school and graduated from high school in 1937 in White Clay, Nebraska. Lloyd's family started attending SDA evangelistic meetings when he was 12 and were all later baptized into the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Lloyd was a devout Christian that lived by his beliefs. At age 16, Lloyd's parents moved the family to Hillsboro, Oregon. Lloyd started working for his uncle as a mechanic until 1942 when Lloyd was drafted into the U.S. Army Corp. Lloyd served as a Medic Assistant throughout Europe, Africa and the Philippines until September 1945 when he was honorably discharged. He returned to Oregon and bought a 40 acre strawberry farm in North Plains, Oregon. Where again many family and friends enjoyed the fruits of his labor. In the spring of 1951, Lloyd began dating June Fineout. June and Lloyd's families had been neighbors and Lloyd started getting to know June as he would offer her a ride to Church. In September that same year Lloyd and June were married and made their home on his farm. They had 2 sons, Ron and Lester. In 1955 Lloyd moved his family to Beaverton, Oregon. At that time Lloyd was working for a Nursery, Peterkort and Co. which raised roses and orchids. Lloyd and June welcomed their 3rd son, Vernon into the family in October 1955. In late 1959 his one and only daughter, Rose, was born and in 1962 Lloyd and June had their youngest son, David. Lloyd worked Sunday - Friday, 10 to 12 hours a day, to afford sending his children to Seventh Day Adventist Schools. This was very important to Lloyd. He taught his skills of mechanics and handy work to all his children. Each of Lloyd's children acquired and learned many different 'life skills' from their dad, which taught them to be responsible, self-sufficient adults. Lloyd also shared his love for the outdoors with his children and grandchildren. He often took his kids camping, hiking and beaching. He taught them about plants species, wild flowers and birds.
Lloyd worked very vigorously most of his life until around the age of 86 when he started slowing down. The long winters were hardest on him, which seemed to get longer and longer as he got older.
Lloyd will be remembered for his gentle, kind, humorous and loving nature. He approached most everything in life quite calmly. He was a solid rock to his family. Lloyd passed away very quietly and peacefully on Saturday morning the 23rd of January in his comfortable chair with his wife, June, by his side. Lloyd and June had been married 58 years.
Lloyd loved his wife and family with all his heart. He always put his own needs aside to provide what he felt was best for his family.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his second oldest son, Lester, in November 1984.
