Wednesday, 15 April 2009
Daniel Douglas Hurn passed away at his home on April 5, 2009. He was the beloved husband of Lacey West Hurn and the beloved son of Ronald and Jacalyn Hurn of Evans.
Daniel was a very special person to all who knew and loved him and we will never forget him or stop missing him. Daniel loved his wife, his family and music, nature and animals. Daniel attended school in Kettle Falls and Colville, mainly. He, like many of us at that age, had not decided on a course of education or a career yet, but worked in several different jobs during his short adulthood. Daniel worked at Hewescraft, Builder’s Shopping Center and Harvest Foods in this area. He also worked at a foundry in Spokane and he even spent time as a 'sandwich artist' in Spokane. Daniel worked for his parents most recently, building fences and doing upkeep around the place.
Snowboarding was one of Daniel’s passions, along with gaming, playing horseshoes and being with friends.
Daniel is also survived by his grandmother, Marjorie Hurn of Tucson, Arizona; brother Ronald David Hurn and sister Deanna Lynn Burke; nephews, Joshua Burke, Nicholas Harsin and Jack Burke; cousins Gregory Bennett, Jessica Bennett, Chad Bennett, Michael and David Garske, Jerry, Vicky, Sandra, Rebecca and Steve Olson; aunts, Lorraine Garske Olson, Gene Garske, Mary Bennett Johnson, Charles Bennett and Susan Bennett Colombini, Douglas Hurn and Teresa Hurn Naas. He is also survived by many, many wonderful aunts, uncles, friends and extended family members. His cat, Digger, will miss him very much. They were inseparable.
Daniel was preceded in death by his brother, Christopher Paul Hurn; grandfathers Paul James Hurn and Jack Everett Bennett, and Grandmother Eunice Shearer Bennett, and by one uncle, Rodney Paul Hurn.
Funeral service was held April 11 at the Danekas Funeral Chapel in Colville.

He retired from Boeing in 1982, and continued to live in the Seattle area until 2004, when he moved to Colville to be closer to his son.
Paul loved engineering so much-- it was also his hobby. He designed Hi-speed multi-hull sailboats and built model airplanes. At the age of 20, he built a working model of the Mosquito, which was still a top secret program in 1942. Paul also loved his relationship with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and dedicated several years to studying the book of Revelation and publishing his book, Understanding The Amazing Revelation of Jesus Christ, in 2002.
