Jimmy "Jim" Robert Becker, 73, of West Richland died Tuesday. Mr. Becker was born in Billings, Mont., and served in the Navy. He received his education in Sunnyside, later moved to Yakima, and then to Richland. He was employed at Hanford and retired in 1999.

Survivors include a daughter, Vivian Becker of Richland; a son, James Becker of Seattle; two brothers, Ed Becker of Sunnyside and Allan Becker of Auburn, Wash.; a sister, Violet Hicks of Oregon; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 17 at Smith Funeral Home of Sunnyside. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Oct. 17 in Lower Valley Memorial Gardens, Sunnyside.

Brian K. Fife
Announcement dated October 10, 2009
Brian K. Fife, 43, of Yakima died Wednesday. Mr. Fife was born in Yakima. He worked as a tipper for Martin Archery.

Survivors include his mother and father, Shirley Fife and Albert Fife, both of Yakima; and two sisters, Lori Lantis of Moxee and Joni Coultard of Burlington, Wash.

Private services are pending. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory of Yakima.

Robin D. Huffman
Announcement dated October 10, 2009
Robin Dean Huffman, 43, of Olympia died Tuesday. Mr. Huffman was born in Sunnyside. He started his career with the state as a support enforcement officer in Seattle. He had also worked in Tacoma, Spokane and Wenatchee, and in the Community Relations Unit in Olympia. He transferred to the Spokane field office in 2000.

Survivors include his wife, Alexandra Huffman of Olympia; a son, Sean Slater of Tacoma; his father, Arlie Huffman of Sunnyside; his mother, Naia Kraft of Seattle; and a brother, Bob Huffman of Sunnyside.

Viewing will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, with the funeral following at 1 p.m., all at Smith Funeral Home of Sunnyside.

Isaac Sampson
Announcement dated October 10, 2009
Isaac Sampson "K Sht'liks," 80, of Wapato died Friday at home. Mr. Sampson was born in Moxee and served in the Army. He worked as a carpenter for Yakama Nation Housing and in facility and plant management.

Survivors include three sons, Darryl Sampson and Eric Sampson, both of Wapato, and Tony Heredia of White Swan; a daughter, Samantha Morrison of Wapato; a brother, Thompson Sampson of Toppenish; five grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Dressing services will be at 11 a.m. today at the Toppenish Longhouse. Overnight services will be today and Sunday evening with the procession leaving the Longhouse for Satus Point Cemetery at 7 a.m. Monday. Arrangements are by Colonial Funeral Home.

Gerald J. Weimer

Gerald J. Weimer, 83, of Yakima died Thursday. Mr. Weimer was born in Yakima. He owned and operated a roofing and insulation company for 12 years. He then started Kold King Door Company, specializing in doors for apple warehouses. He operated the company until his retirement in 1992.

Survivors include his wife, Marion Weimer of Yakima; a son, Robert E. Weimer of Yakima; two daughters, Linda Lee and Diana Thayer, both of Yakima; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be private. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory of Yakima.

Patsey M. Cambeis

Patsey M. Cambeis, 66, of Yakima died Wednesday.

Mrs. Cambeis was born in New Mexico and moved to the Yakima Valley in 1981. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Harry Cambeis of Yakima; two sons, Roger Cambeis of Yakima and Douglas Cambeis of Phoenix; a daughter, Tammy Goodman of Yakima; two brothers, Jessie R. Fowler and Ronnie Fowler, both of Yakima; a sister, Betty Jean McCorkle of California; and a granddaughter, Cheyenne Goodman of Yakima.

A memorial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary Baptist Church in Yakima. Arrangements are by Keith and Keith Funeral Home of Yakima.

Betty J. Falen

Betty J. Falen, 86, of Selah died Thursday at Selah Convalescent.

She was born in Pennsylvania.

A memorial service will be at noon Tuesday at Terrace Heights Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Mildred D. Hembree

Mildred D. Hembree, 89, of Yakima died Thursday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Hembree was born in Yakima, where she worked as a teacher for many years.

Survivors include three sons, Bill Hembree of Kent, Wash., Guy Hembree of Billings, Mont., and Murle Dean of Yakima; a daughter, Carol Bishop of Vancouver, Wash.; a brother, Delbert Johnson of Yakima; a sister, Genevieve Downs of Warren, Ohio; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Keith & Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. A graveside service will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in Terrace Heights Memorial Park, with an 11 a.m. memorial to follow at Wiley Heights Covenant Church, Yakima.

Ruby Mendoza-Cuevas

Ruby Mendoza-Cuevas, the 22-month-old daughter of Moises and Senadia Mendoza of Yakima, died Friday.

Besides her parents, survivors include a sister, Daisy Mendoza-Cuevas of Yakima; a brother, Fabian Mendoza-Cuevas of Yakima; and her grandparents, Jose and Paula Mendoza and Abigail and Emma Cuevas, all of Yakima.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday with a 4 p.m. rosary at Shaw & Sons Funeral Directors in Yakima. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Yakima, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery.

Bob L. Mathews, 75, of Yakima died Thursday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Mathews was born in Glenwood, Iowa, and worked in Yakima at Smooty's Hardware and Stein's Ace Hardware.

Survivors include his wife, Dee Mathews of Yakima; two sons, Marshall Mathews of Puyallup, Wash., and Brad Mathews of Milwaukee, Ore.; a daughter, Kim Encinas of Yakima; two brothers, Jack Mathews of Richland and Harold Gene Mathews of Salt Lake City; two sisters, Shirley Jinkins of Yakima and Carol Mangum of Federal Way, Wash.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Yakima. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Apostolic Faith Church, Yakima. Burial will follow in Terrace Heights Memorial Park.

Dorothy Ruth Cortez, 81, of Selah died Sunday at home. Mrs. Cortez was born in San Diego. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Arthur Cortez of Selah; two sons, William Joseph Cortez of Florence, Ark., and Robert Michael Cortez of Altoona, Pa.; two daughters, Ruthanne Cortez-Weiss of Selah and Dorothy Marie Cortez of San Diego; a sister, Mary Saunders of Concord, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Cathedral in Yakima. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory of Yakima.

Lillian P. Beduhn

Lillian P. Beduhn, 82, of Yakima died Sunday at Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center. Mrs. Beduhn was born in Astoria, Ore. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Maxwell D. Beduhn of Yakima; three daughters, Melony Lynn Mozzillo of Aumsville, Ore., Kimberley Diane Risenhoover of Gold Beach, Ore., and Leslie Kay Beduhn of Monroe, Wash.; three sons, Steven Terry Meyer of Spokane, Michael Allen Meyer of Yakima and Bart Allen Beduhn of Seattle; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

At her request, there will be no services. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory of Yakima.

Irene Risedorf

Irene Risedorf, 94, of Yakima died Thursday at Good Samaritan Health Care Center. Mrs. Risedorf was born in Fargo, N.D., and lived in the Yakima Valley since 1951.

Survivors include three children, Marlene L. Thorson of Sun City West, Ariz., Gary D. Risedorf of Yakima and Gayle E. Booker of Port Ludlow, Wash.; two sisters, Joyce Aaserud and Hazel Nelson of Moorhead, Minn.; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Keith and Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel.

William R. Doyle

William R. Doyle, 81, of Wapato died Monday. Mr. Doyle was born in Yakima. He worked as a chef and owned and operated restaurants in Yakima, the Tri-Cities, Vancouver and California.

Survivors include three sons, Ray Doyle of Selah, Robert Doyle of Yakima and Clair Doyle of Kennewick; two daughters, Kathy Stevenson and Judy Ausink, both of Yakima; a sister, Barbara Morrill of Arlington, Wash.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Private family services will be at a later date. Arrangements are by Colonial Funeral Home.

Howard A. Bunger

Howard A. Bunger, 78, of Issaquah, Wash., died Monday. Mr. Bunger was born in Yakima and served in the Navy. He was a sales manager for the General Electric Credit Corporation.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie; three daughters, Lorri Wert, Ronae Bunger and Dawn Porter; two sisters, Joyce Darling and Muriel Driver; two nephews, who he raised as his own, Loren Bunger and Greg Bunger; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Flintofts Issaquah Funeral Home, 540 E. Sunset Way, Issaquah.

Mary K. Liebert

Mary K. Liebert, 56, of Union Gap died Saturday in Yakima. She was born in Yakima. She was employed in the fruit industry, working in the packing warehouses.

Survivors include two sons, Jesse Beede and Brent Beede, both of Union Gap; two brothers, Steve Liebert of Yakima and Michael Liebert of Selah; three sisters, Joyce Rumble of Marysville, Wash., Joan Laws of Bothell, Wash., and Kathy Siekawitch of Union Gap; and two grandchildren.

Memorial services are pending. Arrangements are by Keith and Keith Funeral Home.

Jack Clifford Kent, 91, of Yakima died Saturday at Good Samaritan Health Care Center. Mr. Kent was born in Washington. He was employed in the construction industry.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Kent of Vancouver, Wash., and Les Stark of Arizona; two daughters, Treva Harmon of Yakima and Betty Ann Kent of California; a brother, Delbert Kent of Dufor, Ore.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Tahoma Cemetery in Yakima. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory of Yakima.

Francisco Walle

Francisco Walle, 70, of Mabton died Sunday at home. Mr. Walle was born in Coalcoman, Mexico. He was a farmer and had lived in Mabton for more than 20 years.

Survivors include his wife, Porfirio Walle of Mabton; two daughters, Elizabeth Nataro of Prosser and Bertha Walle of Seattle; three sons, Francisco Walle Jr., of Mexico, Efrain Walle of Mabton and Alejandro Walle of Zillah; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, with the rosary being recited at 6 p.m., at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Mass of Christian burial will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home of Sunnyside.

Donald A. Ebe

Donald A. Ebe, 72, of Yakima died Monday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Ebe was born in Los Angeles and served in the Navy. He was a contractor in construction and owned Ebe and Associates for many years.

Survivors include four children, Cheryl Shelton of Lake Oswego, Ore., Kellie Larimer and Donald A. Ebe Jr., both of Yakima, and Monica Painton of Yacolt, Wash.; a sister, Jackie Ragains of Kamiah, Idaho; and five grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Keith and Keith Terrace Heights Chapel. Private interment will be in Terrace Heights Memorial Park.

Antonio Frausto

Antonio Frausto, 58, of Sunnyside died Sunday.

Mr. Frausto was born in Guanajuato, Mexico. He worked as a farm laborer.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Frausto of Sunnyside; six children, Maria, Domenica, Juan, Antonio Jr., Ricardo and Virginia, all of Sunnyside; his mother, Cresencia Frausto of Mexico; five brothers, Concepcion, Jesus, Jose and Ascension, all of Sunnyside, and Francisco of Mexico; two sisters, Josefina Frausto of Phoenix, Ariz., and Rosario Amador of Mexico; and eight grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Smith Funeral Home of Sunnyside.

Bruce Johnson

Bruce Johnson, 76, of Granger died Sunday in Wapato.

Mr. Johnson was born in Ilwaco, Wash. He farmed in the Granger area.

Earl W. Briedenbach Gallert

Maj. Earl W. Briedenbach Gallert, 91, of Yakima died Saturday.

Mr. Gallert was born in Fife, Wash., and served in the Army during World War II, Pacific Theater, Korea and Vietnam, retiring in 1964. He then worked as a long haul truck driver for Don Werst, Fairchild Trucking for 17 years.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Gallert of Yakima; two sons, Nick Gallert of Yakima and Scott Gallert of Vancouver, Wash.; three daughters, Lynn Russell, Pam Hibbard and Nannette Romney, all of Yakima; two stepsons, Dan Zerr of Yakima and Phil Zerr of Beaverton, Ore.; a stepdaughter, Tammy Zerr of Yakima; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Keith and Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. Full military honors will be conducted by members of William Wharton Post 379, VFW and Washington State National Guard.
