Betty Ruth Goodmiller

Omak
The family of Betty Ruth Goodmiller, lifelong resident of Omak, sadly announce the death of our beloved mother and grandmother. Betty passed into the arms and care of her beloved Lord December 3, 2008 at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee from complications of Lou Gehrig's disease.
Betty was born March 3, 1926 to Robert and Cleo Wyatt. Betty attended school in Omak and graduated high school in 1944 and later attended Washington State College.
She married Clarence Brown in 1947 and they had two children, Mike and Patti. In 1959 she married Harley Goodmiller and they had two children, Steve and Jodi. Betty loved to landscape her yard and go to the mountains collecting rocks for these projects and to work on various craft projects. She loved the beach and spent many summers on the Oregon Coast with her family collecting seashells. She worked for the Growers Credit corporation for 20 years and then for Lampe Jewelers for several years.
Mom had several sayings that were always funny. She always said that you have to be tough to get old, and growing old isn't something you can get over like a cold and that she wasn't afraid of dying, she was just afraid of being dead. This disease that took her away from us never once frightened her and she was tough to the end.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harley; her parents; three brothers; and one sister. She is survived by her son, Mikhail Brown and his wife, Colleen and their children of Oakhurst, Calif.; her daughter, Patti Brown, of Omak; her son, Steve Goodmiller of Omak; and her daughter, Jodi Hooper and her husband, David Hooper, and their children of Eltopia, Wash.
Betty's family would like to thank all of her friends and neighbors who visited with her at the home this past year. She truly enjoyed these visits. Special thanks to Dorothy Kendall of Omak for her support and selfless time she spent here with mom, visiting, reading and just for being there for mom. No matter how bad she felt, she was thrilled each time you came to visit. We would also like to thank Pastor Ken Peterson and his wife, Polly, for your many visits with Betty providing spiritual comfort. Polly, thank you for singing to Mom while she lay in Central Washington Hospital and Betty knew you were there, thank you. We would like to also thank the staff of Central Washington Hospital, Dr. Miller, nurse Elmo and nurse Sarah. Thank you to Sonja Zimmer, Director of ALS Association Evergreen Chapter. We would like to thank the Virginia Mason Medical Center Neuroscience Institute in Seattle, Dr. John Ravits, The ALS clinic, Simmi Sandhu, and Benaroya Virginia Mason Research Institute for asking Betty to participate in a genetic study of this disease to help further a treatment and eventual cure. Also, we thank Cathy Priddy of Valley, Wash. for her faithful cards and letters to Betty.
A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced.
Donations are suggested to be made to the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Association Evergreen Chapter, call 1 (866) 786-7257 for information on making a donation.

Scott Steven Fuhrman

Our most dear and beloved left this life far too early at age 52 on Dec. 6, 2008. Scott was born on April 23, 1956 in Puyallup, Wash. where he spent most of his childhood years in the outdoors.
Scott was an active athlete and sportsman and he loved basketball (Go Gonzaga), football (Go Cougars), but most of all he enjoyed hunting and spending time in the woods. He graduated from Eatonville High school in 1974 and was honored as an All American Football athlete in 1973 and 1974. Scott joined the United States Army and served his country from 1975 to 1978 and then was honorably discharged. Scott worked for US West/Qwest for over 20 years as a lineman then went on to run his own business. He also worked for the Forest Service and, most recently, Okanogan County Public Works.
Scott married his wife of 11 years on November 25, 1997 and shortly thereafter moved to Tunk Valley to live his dream. Scott loved the valley, mountains and wildlife and always felt that he had finally found home. He was a loving and good daddy to his cherished young girls and he provided a wonderful home and life for his family. Scott was also a very proud grandpa to little Saga Nordmark and Grace Fuhrman. Scott will be remembered most by those he loved as a warm, loving person who always “hit the nail on the head” and never beat around the bush. He always had the ability to make people laugh and appreciated all that life had to offer. He could always make something out of nothing and often said he was the “richest man on earth” because he loved his life so much. He enjoyed playing poker, spending time with his family and hunting. He was especially proud of his Boone and Crockett buck taken in 2005.
Our loss has left a deep hole in our hearts and we will ensure that Scott continues to live his dreams through his family, friends and all those he loved. He touched the lives of many, in many ways.
Scott is survived by his wife, Heather Fuhrman; children, little Sage Fuhrman, young Halla Fuhrman, Daniel Fuhrman, Kate Nordmark and Jim Fuhrman; grandchildren, Saga Nordmark and Grace Fuhrman; brothers, Mark Fuhrman and Lance Fuhrman; mother, Billie Fuhrman and father, Ralph Fuhrman. Scott will also be thoroughly missed by special friends, Bill, Louie, Travis and Dave. Annual hunting camp was always a special time for Scott and his friends.
