Moore, Troy Wed, 19 Dec 2001
Troy Moore, 98, died Dec. 19 at his home in Sequim. He was a longtime resident of Port Orchard.
Moore was born July 23, 1903, in Snoqualmie to Eugene and Elizabeth Jane (Mills) Moore. He married Georgia Jean Davis of Port Orchard on June 3, 1932, in Olympia. She preceeded him in death on Jan. 14, 2000.
He graduated from Snoqualmie High School in 1923 and earned a degree from the Western Washington College of Education in 1948. He then spent 39 years working for the South Kitsap School District, serving as principal of Annapolis Grade School from 1928 until 1942, then as principal at Givens Grade School from 1942 until 1965.
He then began a second career, operating Moore Vehicle Sales from his home at the bottom of Mile Hill Drive until 1975. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge in Port Orchard until moving to Sequim in 1975, where he pursued his hobbies of fishing and woodworking.
He is survived by sons Troy K. Moore, of Canby, Ore., Stanley J. Moore, of Forks, and W. Mikel Moore of Soldotna, Alaska; daughter Merrianne Makela, of Cashmere, and10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
A remembrance gathering for Troy Moore will be held Feb. 16 at the Givens Community Center, from 2 to 4 p.m.

Dayton, Velma Sun, 16 Dec 2001
Velma M. Dayton, 92, of Port Orchard Died Dec. 16 at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Bremerton. She was born Oct. 28, 1909 in Kansas City, MO to Frank & Mattie (Dawson) McKenzie.
Dayton was an artist all her life. She is survived by her daughter Patricia Mulhausen of Tigard, OR and 2 grandchildren.
Arrangements and a private service were arranged by Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel and Inurnment at Sunset Lane cemetery

Gross, Thomas Thu, 13 Dec 2001
Thomas Eugene Gross, 62, of Port Orchard, died Dec. 13 in Renton.
He was born March 22, 1939 to Eugene and Majorie (Fitzharvic) Gross in Dayton, Ohio.
He married Barbara (Vivian) Gross in Las Vegas, Nev.
Gross graduated from Fairmont High School in Dayton in 1957 and also attended the University of Dayton.
He worked as a construction superintendent for over 40 years.
His interests included Knights of Columbus at St. Nicholas in Gig Harbor.
He was a member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Vivian of Port Orchard; daughters Vickey Birch of Gig Harbor, Lori Knight of Wenatchee, Trish Joyce of Tacoma, Karla Snow of Spokane, Cindy Rogers of Puyallup, Kathy Berry of Tacoma and Kim Schweiter; brother Jack Gross of Kissimmee, Fla.; sister Patricia Leaf of Se

Emery, Minona Mon, 10 Dec 2001
Minona F. Emery, 89, of Manchester, died Dec. 10 of heart failure at her residence.
Emery was born Jan. 17. 1912 to Roy and Elizabeth (Ehlebracht) Fitts at Waikiki Farm in Spokane.
She married Edward E. Emery in Spokane in 1936. He preceded her in death in 1998.
Emery graduated from Sunnyside High School in Sunnyside and attended a year of business school in New York City, N.Y.
She worked as a homemaker and as a secretary in the insurance industry.
Her interests included alter societies within her numerous churches and playing bridge.
She was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church.
Survivors include sons Dr. E. David Emery of Northfield, Minn., Richard Emery of Priest River, Idaho, and Gary Emery of Davis, Calif.; daughters Cheryl McCulloch of Manchester and Mary Emery Robb of Ann Ar

Thomas Michael Bellerby, 82, of Port Orchard, died Dec. 10 at Harrison Memorial Hospital.brbrBellerby was born March 21, 1919 to George and Agnes (Burke) Bellerby in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada.brbrHe graduated from St. Stevens High School in Portland, Ore. in 1937 and also graduated from the University of Portland.brbrBellerby served in the United States Army during World War II on the island of Iwo Jima.brbrHe worked as a Social Security administrator with the United States Government for 20 years.brbrHis interests included golf.brbrHe was a Catholic and a member of St. Gabriel’s Church in Port Orchard.brbrSurvivors include companion Barbara Bellerby of Port Orchard; niece Linda Bellerby; and numerous relatives in the Portland region.brbrHe was preceded in death by four brothers.brbr

Bjorling, Marie Sun, 09 Dec 2001
Marie H. Bjorling, 91, of Port Orchard, died Dec. 9 at Ridgemont Terrace.
She was born April 16, 1910 to Hans and Bertha (Skaar) Rodal in Ballard.
She married Carl A. Bjorling on Dec. 14, 1935 in Port Orchard. He preceded her in death in 1989.
Bjorling graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1927.
She worked as a homemaker.
Her interests included Sons of Norway.
Survivors include daughters Helen Fosberg of Seattle and Linda Rhodes of Port Orchard; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brothers Harold and Bjarne Rodal.
A private service for Marie Bjorling will be held at Ridgemont Terrace with inurnment at Sunset Lane cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Hart, Mary Thu, 06 Dec 2001
Mary Kathleen Hart, 82, of Port Orchard, died Dec. 6 of natural causes in Bremerton.
Hart was born March 21, 1919 to William and Adena (Craig) Burkle in Wheeling, W.V.
She married Ira Winfield Hart in 1943 in North Carolina. He preceded her in death in August 1995.
Hart graduated from high school and attended the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Springfield, Mass.
She served in the United States Army Nurses Corp. from July 1944 to September 1945 and achieved the rank of first lieutenant. She earned a bronze star for meritorious service in England and France and three bronze stars for Rhineland, Battle of Ardennes and Central Europe.
Hart worked as a registered nurse.
Her interests included dancing and walking her dog.
She was a Catholic.
Survivors include son Jerry Hart.

Cornwell, James Wed, 05 Dec 2001
James L. Cornwell, 73, of Port Orchard, died Dec. 5 at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Bremerton.
Cornwell was born Sept. 22, 1928 to Alan and Anna (Dickerson) Cornwell in Terre Haute, Ind.
He married Priscilla J. Anderson on Jan. 19, 1951 in Hammond, Ind.
Cornwell graduated from Roosevelt High School in East Chicago, Ind. and from Marine Corps Correspondence.
He served in the United States Marines, retiring as a first sergeant.
Cornwell worked as a dispatcher with Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton and as deputy sheriff in Eugene, Ore.
His interests included camping and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Priscilla Cornwell of Port Orchard; daughters Catherine Traywick of Kent and Candice Turrentine of Seattle; brothers John of Houston, Texas, and Paul and

Evelyn Olive Christy, 96, of Port Orchard, died Dec. 4.brbrChristy was born Nov. 20, 1905 in Sunnyside.brbrShe was a longtime resident of Everson, Wash.brbrChristy lived in Hawaii and Alaska as a young woman and drove a cab during World War II.brbrShe ran the Everson Tavern for many years with her husband Joe.brbrHer interests included being a member of the I.O.O.B. and the American Legion.brbrSurvivors include 10 grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.brbrShe was preceded in death by four sons, one brother, and her husband.brbrAt the request of her family, there will be no memorial services for Evelyn Christy.brbrArrangements were handled by Haven of Rest Funeral Home in Gig Harbor.

Sirotzki, Ted Mon, 03 Dec 2001
Theodore "Ted" Sirotzki, 60, of Port Orchard, died Dec. 3 of cancer at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Bremerton.
Sirotzki was born Dec. 9, 1940 to August and Sonia (Klepatski) Sirotzki in Chicago, Ill.
He married Jane Mock on Jan. 18, 1964 at Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane.
Sirotzki graduated from Waller High School in Chicago in 1960 and from the apprenticeship program at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in 1978.
He served in the United States Air Force from 1961-1965.
Sirotzki started as a welder at PSNS in 1974 and worked as a naval architect technician at PSNS for 27 years.
His interests included Knights of Columbus (of which he held several offices) and being an avid stamp collector.
He was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Sirotzki of Port Orchard.
