Smudde, Weltha A.

Weltha Smudde, age 94, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 15, 2006 at St. Paul Elder Services in Kaukauna. Weltha was born in Freedom on March 1, 1912 to the late James and Estelle (Powers) Shillcox. On July 2, 1934, she was united in marriage to the late Benedict Smudde at Holy Cross Church in Kaukauna. Weltha attended normal school, and later worked at the Agricultural Adjustment Association, the Federal Tax Branch in Appleton, and at Advance Industries. She enjoyed music and sang with the Chaminade Chorus for several years. She also enjoyed reading, watching Packer games, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters: Virginia (Keith) Siebers of Green Valley, Arizona and Ruth (Conrad) Ritter of Appleton; a son: William (Pat) Smudde of Pace Florida; two granddaughters: Karen (Mike) Fink of Waukesha and Natalie Siebers of Tucson; four grandsons: Bart (Pattie) Smudde of Suwannee, Georgia; Brian Smudde of West Allis; Kevin (Brenda) Smudde of Pace, Florida; and Eric (Pam) Siebers of Seymour; there are also eleven great-grandchildren; a sister: Mary (Earl) Probst of Appleton; two brothers: Wayne (Germaine) Shillcox of Appleton and James (Lorraine) Shillcox of DePere; two sisters-in-law: Nellie Shillcox of Kaukauna and Agnes Smudde of Freedom; as well as many nieces and nephews. Weltha was preceded in death by her husband Benedict after fifty years of marriage in 1984, an infant son Bennie in May of 1935, brothers John Shillcox and Grant Shillcox, and fifteen brothers and sisters-in-law.

The funeral liturgy will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 18, 2006 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukauna, with Fr. Martin Fox officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call Saturday, directly at the church, from 8:30 AM until the hour of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family has established a memorial fund in Weltha’s name.

The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Dr. Jack C. Anderson and to the entire staff at St. Paul Elder Services.

Tackmier, Fern I.
Appleton

Age 90, passed away on Thursday afternoon, April 28, 2006 at Manor Care. She was born on September 12, 1915 in Brillion to the late Otto and Clara Bubolz. On September 21, 1940 she married Leonard Tackmier and they shared 38 wonderful years until he preceded her in death in 1978. Fern worked for Banta from 1956 to 1977. She was a member and a greeter at Trinity Lutheran Church in Menasha. Playing the organ was her favorite pastime. She also enjoyed fishing with Leonard, traveling, bus trips to casinos and theaters, cruises, and was a member of the ladies bowling club.

She will be sadly missed by her sister: Flora Schmidt, Appleton; nieces and nephews: Judy (Doug) Burhans, Appleton; Chuck (Cheryl) Dorn, Appleton; Gene (Beverly) Sonnabennd, Brillion, Audrey (Keith) Lippert, Valders, Dick (Donna) Linskens, Little Chute, David (Suzie) Linskens, Green Bay, Liz (Mickey) Brunnette, Kaukauna; great niece and nephew: Jenny and David Burhans, Appleton. In addition to her parents and her husband, Leonard, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Alice Sonnabennd and Lillian Linskens.

Funeral services for Mrs. Tackmier will be held on Monday, May 1, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at the Star of Hope Chapel inside the Mausoleum at Highland Memorial Park with the Reverend Harley Kopitske officiating. Friends may call at the Star of Hope Chapel from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park.

The family would like to thank the very special staff of Heartland Hospice for the loving care given to Fern.

Katherine Searle
Nov. 11, 1929 – Dec. 13, 2010

Katherine M. Searle, age 81, Coloma, died Dec. 13, 2010 at the Moundview Memorial Hospital & Clinics in Friendship. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 16, at the Roseberry's Funeral Home in Friendship. Father James P. McNamee officiated. Interment was at the Good Sheperd’s cemetery, in Richfield. Visitation was 9 a.m until the time of service at Roseberry's Funeral Home.

Katherine was born Nov. 11, 1929 in Chicago, IL the Daughter of John and Delphine Dwyer. She married David Searle on Feb. 7, 1977 in Joliet, IL.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dave Searle; son, Ralph Hodel; brother, John Dwyer; and great-granddaughters Courtney Mountford and Grace Abbott. She is survived by: son, Ken (Linda) Hodel of Coloma; daughter, Mary (Doug) Mendralla of Lombard, IL; granddaughters, Heather (Lonnie) Abbott, Sarah (Michael) Loconti and Dawn (Tony) Butera; grandsons, Ken (Jennifer) Hodel Jr., Thomas Loconti, Frank Loconti, Scott Loconti, John (Marilyn) Hodel, and Jeff Hodel; great-grandchildren, Devan, Kelsey and Alaina Mendralla, Hunter Abbott, Conner Hodel, Tyler Hodel, Colin Loconti, Chaz and Sabastian Hodel, Athony, Samantha and Matthew Butera and Brandon Shultis.

Viola Lutz
March 15, 1912 – Dec. 14, 2010

Viola Dorothy Lydia Lutz, age 98, Wautoma, passed away Tuesday morning, Dec. 14, at Silver Lake Haven in Wautoma.

Viola Lutz was born on March 15, 1912 in Wood County, the youngest of nine children, the daughter of Frederick and Minnie Kraase. She graduated from Marshfield High School and lived most of her life in Milwaukee. Mrs. Lutz was united in marriage to Raymond Lutz on Nov. 19, 1934 in Milwaukee. They had two sons, Harold and Robert.

Viola and husband Ray, spent summers at their cottage on Porters Lake and retired there in 1971. Viola was a gifted seamstress and quilter. She assisted the Mt. Morris Holden Lutheran Church Women’s Quilter Group in making quilts and baby sweaters every year for Lutheran World Relief. She enjoyed observing wildlife, especially birds. Viola was quite a bowler in her younger years, sang faithfully in the church choir, and was a wonderful cook of German cuisine. She and her husband were dedicated members of Mt. Morris Holden Lutheran Church.

She is survived by two sons, Harold (Donna) Lutz, Germantown, and Robert (Jean) Lutz, Stone Lake; six grandchildren, William (Sue) Lutz, North Prairie; Linda (Mike Rucki) Lutz, Pewaukee; James (Lisa) Lutz, Pewaukee; David Lutz, Hilliard, OH.; Thomas (Michelle) Lutz, Franklin; Julie Lutz, Phoenix, AZ; four great grandchildren, Amanda and Kinsey Lutz, North Prairie; Donovan and Nina Lutz, Pewaukee; further survived by other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Ernest, Alfred, Walter, Clarence, Arthur and Louis, and two sisters, Ella and Lillie.

Funeral Services were held on Saturday, Dec. 18, at Mt. Morris Holden Lutheran Church with the Rev. Todd Murken officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Harvey Hilbert
June 9, 1926 – Dec. 14, 2010

Harvey Hilbert Weishaar, age 84, Westfield, was called home to heaven on Tuesday, Dec. 14, at the Montello Care Center in Montello.

Funeral services were 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 20, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Westfield. Rev. Ronald E. Riemer officiated. Interment was at the Harrisville cemetery, Harris Township, Marquette County.

Harvey was born June 9, 1926 in Harris Township, Marquette County, to Fred and Anna (Wachholz) Weishaar. He was baptized and later confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Harrisville. Harvey grew up on the family farm. Harvey’s family farmed in Harris and later Newton Townships. He attended Slatter Elementary School. Harvey enjoyed farming with horses, and worked for many local farmers throughout the years. He also worked seasonally at the canning factory in Markesan, and drove a canned milk route for Shields Creamery for many years. Harvey worked for his brother, Alvin and his sister-in-law, Alma until his retirement in 1988.

Harvey was always there when there was hay or straw to bale, cattle to be fed, and any other farm chores to be done.

Harvey enjoyed working with the animals, listening to polka music and dancing, eating chocolate and attending tractor pulls.

Harvey was preceded in death by his parents: Fred and Anna (Wachholz) Weishaar; brothers: Leonard Weishaar, Alvin Weishaar; and sister, Lavila Wagner.

He is survived by sister-in-law: Alma Mike of Westfield; brother-in-law: Eldon Wagner of Fond du Lac; special Friend: Edna Beutler of Westfield; niece: Mary (Kenon) Smith of Montello; nephew: John (Dawn) Weishaar of Westfield; nephew: David (Heidi) Weishaar of Westfield; niece: Beth Weishaar of Neenah; great-nephew: Christopher Smith of Westfield; great-nephew: Robin Smith of Montello; great-nephew: Joshua Weishaar of Westfield; great-nephew: Jacob Weishaar of Westfield; great-niece: Amanda Smith of Montello; great-niece: Krystal Weishaar of Westfield; great-niece: Victoria Smith of Montello; great-nephew: Justin Weishaar of Westfield; great-niece: Emily Weishaar of Westfield; great-nephew: Jonathan Weishaar of Westfield; great-niece: Megan Weishaar of Westfield; great-niece: Kaitlin Weishaar of Westfield; and great-niece: Abbey Weishaar of Westfield. Harvey is further survived by other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Charles Wolover
Oct. 22, 1918 – Dec. 16, 2010

Charles D. Wolover, age 92, Wautoma, passed away Thursday morning, Dec. 16, at Berlin Memorial Hospital.

He was born Oct. 22, 1918 in Morristown, MN, the son of Joseph A. and Margaret M. (Thorburn) Wolover. He married Carol B. Holmes on Dec. 5, 1943 in Wautoma. She preceded him in death after 62 years of marriage on Sept. 20, 2006.

Mr. Wolover was Past Worshipful Master of Wautoma Lodge 148 F.&A.M., and Past Worthy Patron of Wautoma Chapter 198 Order of the Eastern Star, and member of York Rite, Scottish Rite and Zor Shrine. He served his country in the United States Army Air Corps in the European Theatre during World War II.

Charles was employed at the former Waushara Electric Cooperative and then Trempealeau Electric of Arcadia until his retirement.

He is survived by two sons, Arthur (Patricia) Wolover, Jonesboro, AR., David (Amber) Wolover, Cambridge; one daughter, Lucinda (Alfred) Ottusch, Bridgman, MI; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, M. Jeanette Arveson, Wautoma; a brother-in-law, Clyde (Marilyn) Holmes, Oshkosh; further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends and his caregiver Deborah LaSusa.

Order of Eastern Star and Masonic Services was held on Sunday, Dec. 19, at 2 p.m. with funeral services following at the Leikness Funeral Home, Wautoma with full military honors. Visitation was held from 1 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Burial was in the Wautoma Union cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established. Earl Ludtke

May 23, 1936 – Dec. 17, 2010

Earl L. Ludtke, Neenah, age 74, will be spending Christmas in heaven with Jesus and his wife Carol. Earl passed away Thursday, Dec. 17. He was born On May 23, 1936 in Waukesha County, son of the late Earl Frank and Edith (Littlejohn) Ludtke. Earl moved to Wautoma when he was five years old, where he attended school and then went to work on the family farm.

Earl married Karen Joy Vanderhei on July 16, 1955. After having seven children, they later divorced in 1976. On June 24, 1978, Earl then married Carol Mae Stuckart in Wautoma. She preceded him in death on February 16, 2008.

Earl enjoyed toy collecting, race car driving, being in parades, and he had a love of working with wood and metals. He was employed with James Burns & Sons Farms in Almond for many years, as well as working for numerous other farmers. Earl was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church of Neenah and a former member of Peace Lutheran Church in Wautoma.

Survivors include children: Mike (Theresa), Bob (Jean), both of Plainfield, Randy of Waupaca, Lee (Linda), Sandra (John) Gipson, both of Wisconsin Rapids, David of Black River Falls, Linda Howard of Hancock, and Cindy Ludtke of Neenah; 32 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Elaine (Harold Sr.) Vanderhei, of Cambria; and he will be missed by Cookie. In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Christine Mae Ludtke; and a sister, Evelynn Greves.

The funeral service was held on Tuesday, Dec. 21, at Noon, at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, 1390 Breezewood Ln, Neenah, with Rev. Richard Frost officiating. Visitation was held at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Interment was in Lakeside cemetery in Waupaca.

Mary Jo Bauer
June 28, 1950 – Decc. 15, 2010

Mary Jo Bauer, age 60, Wild Rose, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 15, at Wild Rose Community Memorial Hospital.

She was born June 28, 1950 in Madison, the daughter of Clarence and

Jess (Fish) Bauer.

Mary Jo was employed at Waushara Industries in Wautoma for a number of years. She enjoyed latch hooking and playing cards.

She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth (Robert) Robinson, Portage. Mary Jo is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Patricia Dorney; two brothers, Richard Godfrey and William Bauer; and by her special aunt, Mabel Bauer.

Funeral services were held on Monday, Dec. 20, at 11 a.m. at Leikness Funeral Home in Wautoma with Rev. George J. Kafer officiating. Burial was in Arlington cemetery, Arlington.

Visitation was held on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a collection of canned goods will be accepted at the funeral home for the local food pantry.

Jay Anderson
Aug. 3, 1944 – Dec. 14, 2010

Jay E. Anderson, age 66, Weyauwega, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010 at Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee. He was born in Milwaukee on August 3, 1944, a son of the late Edwin C. and Norma E. (Kesler) Anderson.

Jay graduated from East Troy High School in 1962. He worked at Milwaukee Stove and Furnace after returning from his 1965-66 tour in Vietnam. Jay then began farming in Mount Morris. in 1976, moving on to West Bloomfield farm in 1990. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and DAV Chapter 51. He also enjoyed traveling.

He is survived by a sister: Lynn (Chuck) Brewer, Weyauwega; brother: Dale (Debbie) Anderson, Wind Lake; niece: Christy (Steve) Schulze, MI; nephews: Jason (Lisa) Brewer, NC; Tim (Kim) Brewer, Pine River; great niece: Kandice Brewer, Pine River; Uncle: George (Marion) Anderson. Jay was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother, Charlotte Anderson and stepfather, Fred Welch. He is further survived by other family and friends.

A Memorial visitation will be held at the Family Farm, N5654 St. Rd 49, Weyauwega, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, with a brief Memorial Service to be held at 1 p.m., which will be followed with a luncheon. Military Honors and interment of cremains will take place next spring at Central WI Veterans Memorial cemetery, King. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to DAV Chapter 51, 177A Thackery St., Redgranite, WI, 54970.

Anthony Green Sr.

May 20, 1949 - Dec. 17, 2010

Anthony D. Green, Sr., Wautoma (formerly of Oshkosh), age 61, passed away unexpectedly on Dec. 17. He was born on May 20, 1949 in Kenosha, the son of Henry and Setha (East) Green. He married Rowena Henning on Oct. 22, 1971 in Oshkosh.

Anthony is survived by his wife: Rowena; a daughter: Barb (Jeff) Pfalzgraf, Oshkosh; two sons: Anthony Green, Jr., Wautoma, and David Green, Wisconsin Rapids; and two grandsons: Travis and Tyler Pfalzgraf. He is further survived by nieces and a nephew. Anthony was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant granddaughter, Stephanie Pfalzgraf.

Dad lived a simple life helping others by fixing little things from bikes to snow blowers. He enjoyed spending hours in his garage tinkering, as he would call it.

A memorial service will be held at the Holly Funeral Home in Wild Rose on Wednesday, Dec. 22 at 3 p.m. Visitation will be held at the Holly Funeral Home in Wild Rose on Wednesday, from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
