James and Barbara Berner passed away Monday morning in Plankinton, South Dakota. Arrangements are pending; Ryan Funeral Home, 305 N. Tenth St., De Pere, is assisting the family.

Mary F. Fitzgerald
Mary F. Fitzgerald, 92, Allouez, passed away Monday, July 21, 2003, at Odd Fellow Nursing Home. The daughter of the late John and Cecelia (Kane) Fitzgerald was born March 9, 1911, in the town of Wrightstown.

In her early years Mary was an organist at St. John Catholic Church, Morrison. In 1942, she moved to her home in Green Bay. She worked at Model Cleaners and Schreiber Cheese. Mary cleaned homes for several families with whom she developed many long-term friendships. Mary loved being with her family and enjoyed conversing with her friends. She was always ready to pray for anyone with any concern. Mary was a longtime member of St. Francis Xavier Cathedral Parish, St. Anne's Society at the Cathedral and a member of the Third Order Secular Franciscans.

Survivors include her sister, Rita Wellens, De Pere; nieces and nephews, Mary Joan Wellens, Green Bay, Carolyn and Glenn Bodwin, Two Rivers, John and Helen Wellens, Green Bay, Lydwine and Bill Joy, Appleton, Stephen and Ruth Wellens, Green Bay, Eugene Wellens, De Pere, Christine Wellens, Green Bay, Michael Wellens, De Pere, Jane Boex, Green Bay, Terrence and Joanne Dewane, Brussels, Tim and Kay Dewane, Fairfield, Calif., Mary and Bob Rosek, Stevens Point, Kathleen and Patrick Masse, Green Bay, Gerard and Jude Dewane, Sturgeon Bay, Ruthann and Don Dunphy, Gleason; great-nieces and nephews, Andrew Wellens, Lisa Bodwin, Sara and Steve Johnson, Alyssa, Shana and Michael Wellens, Danielle and Greg Boex, Natalie Wellens, Debbie and Willy Taylor, Katrina Rabida, T.J. and Lisa Dewane, Casey Wilson, Kelly Dewane, Maggie and Michael Rosek, Carrie, Ruthann and Dylan Masse, Ellen, Jack and Bridget Dunphy; as well as several other extended relatives and very many friends.

In addition to her parents Mary is preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Fitzgerald; a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Sheridan Dewane; brother-in-law, Christian Wellens; niece, Anne Marie Dewane and a great niece, Erin Rosek. Friends may call at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, July 24, 2003. Prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday after 9:30 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, 140 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay, until time of funeral. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. with Msgr. Roy Klister officiating. Interment in St. John Cemetery, Morrison.

The family wishes to especially thank the wonderful staff at Odd Fellow Nursing Home for their years of caring, humor and friendship to both Mary and her family.

William S. Harris
William S. Harris, 53. Visitation after 2 p.m. Thursday at Ryan Funeral Home, 305 N. Tenth St., De Pere. Funeral service 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Survivors include two sons, Justin (Stacy) Harris, Racine, Jessi Kasten, Milwaukee; one grandson; two brothers, Mike, West Virginia, Noel Jr., Georgia.

Eleanor Ladowski (Mrs. Eugene), 78. Visitation 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Proko-Wall Funeral Home & Crematory, 1630 E. Mason St. Parish wake service 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mass of the Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 936 Ninth St.

Antonia Nikowitz
Antonia Nikowitz, 104, Allouez. Visitation after 4 p.m. Friday at the McCormick Memorial Home, 212 Iroquois Ave. Rosary service 4:30 p.m. Friday at the McCormick Home. Funeral service 5:30 p.m. in the chapel at the McCormick Home. Survivors include one daughter-in-law, Marilyn Nikowitz, Green Bay; many grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren. Schauer & Schumacher Funeral Home, 340 S. Monroe Ave., is assisting the family.

Geraldine B. Rosin
Geraldine B. Rosin, 80, Milton, formerly Green Bay. Arrangements are pending; Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., is assisting the family.

Lester Schley
Lester Schley, 79, Green Bay, died Monday, July 21, 2003, at a local hospital. He was born October 28, 1923, to the late Louis and Laura (Brandt) Schley in Cooperstown, Wisconsin. On July 29, 1945, he married the former Elda Nell at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Algoma. He was employed by Fairmont Foods (now Kemps) for 37 years, retiring in 1983.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Elda; one daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Ron Wesoloski, Green Bay; three sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Pat Schley, Milwaukee, Steve and Lou Ann Schley, Green Bay, and Mark and Nona Schley, Green Bay; nine grandchildren, Lisa (Joseph) Korban, Brian (Sarah), Brett and Carrie (fiance Mike Nikson) Wesoloski, Derek (Gina), Danielle (Jay), and Brandon Schley, and Shawn and Sheena Schley; two great-grandchildren, Emily and Magrady; five step-grandchildren, Tim (Barb), John (Toni), Matt (Kim) and Rachael Holford and Rick La Tour; and one brother and two sisters-in-law, Milton and Milly Schley, Maribel, and Ruth Haroldson, Rockford, Illinois; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Sylvia Klug and three brothers,Wilbert, Roland and Melvin Schley.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lyndahl Funeral Home, Lombardi Avenue at Ridge Road. Visitation will continue after 10 a.m. Thursday, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 210 South Oneida St., where the funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John Poppe officiating. Burial will be in Algoma Evergreen Cemetery.

Survivors include two daughters, Lynn (Ken) Nelson, Cindee Luedtke (special friend, Alan Kocourek), all of Green Bay; one son, Dan Van Gompel, Green Bay; five grandchildren; five sisters, Marie (Elmo) Meadows, Perry, Ga., Martha (Donald) Van Roy, Celia De Moulin, Jeannette Jakubowski, Maxine Zehren, all of Green Bay; one brother, Al Jakubowski, Green Bay.

Carol J. Kobussen (nee Schweikofer), 77, Daytona Beach, Fla., formerly of Green Bay. Memorial mass 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1484 Ninth St. A reception will follow. Survivors include her husband, Leland; four sons, Anthony (Fumiko), Anchorage, Alaska, Paul, Manitowish Waters, Thomas (Cathy), Holly Hill, Fla., Timothy (Denise), Whitefish Bay; two daughters, Mary Streit, Rockford, Ill., Ann Hoppe Pappas (James), Mequon; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Agnes Catholic Church or the American Arthritis Foundation.
