Avis D. Gallitz
Avis D. Gallitz, of Waukesha, born on September 2, 1912 in Genesee, the daughter of Edward and Sarah (nee Rusco) Nelson, died on Friday, January 31, 2003 at home at the age of 90 years.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she was a Christian Mother. She taught CCD classes and volunteered at the school.

She will be sadly missed by her children; Sister Patricia Gallitz of Clarks Mills, WI, Barbara Mareno of Waukesha and Ed (Eileen) Gallitz of New Era, MI. Her grandchildren; Patricia (Scott) Stenberg of Waukesha, Jeff (Connie) Betker of Waukesha, Scott Betker of Thorp, WI, Tim (Laura) Gallitz of West Bend, Rebecca (Rueben) Llano of New Era, MI amd Amy (Todd) Panici of Muskegon, MI, her great grandchildren; Jeff, Bob, Alyssa, Zachary, Lucas, Brianna, Sara, Justin, Jeffy, Joseph, Maria, Timothy, Olivia, Noah, Hanna and Tia. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edward and son, Edward Francis.

A Funeral Mass for Avis will be on Wednesday, February 5, 2003 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 822 N. East Ave., Waukesha. Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 4, 2003 at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home on Moreland Blvd. from 4:30 until 7:30 pm. and on Wednesday at the funeral home from 9:00 am until 9:45 am. A parish vigil will be at 7:00 pm on Tuesday. Entombment will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Memorials to St. Joseph Catholic Church would be appreciated.

Arbrelia (Skip) D. Mehciz
Longtime Waukesha resident, Arbrelia (Skip) D. Mehciz, died on Friday, October 25, 2002 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 78 years. She was born on February 8, 1924, the daughter of Martin and Delorious (nee Marx) Linde.

Mrs. Mehciz was a charter member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Waukesha. She was also a member of the Soat-Vergenz V.F.W. Post #721 Auxillary. Both she and her husband Hugh owned Hugh & Skip’s Enco on East Broadway in Waukesha until 1973. In her 20’s, she worked at the old V.A. hospital in Waukesha as a nurse’s aide. She had also worked at Waukesha Foundry. “Skip” retired from Dresser Industries as an inspector after 20 years of service.

She will be sadly missed by her sons Lee (Sandra) Mehciz of Green Bay and Carl R. (Judy) Mehciz of Waukesha. She was the proud grandmother of Kimberly (Corey) Rakowski, Lance (Lu Ann) Mehciz, Dani (Tim) Williamson, Yvette Stickney, Thomas Stickney, Jr., Kathy Morris, Bill (Tracey) Morris, Tom (Mandy) and Sue Morris. She is the dear sister of Ramona Wegner of Mukwonago. Also surviving are 10 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. “Skip” was preceded in death by her husband Hubert W. Mehciz, Sr. in 1988, her brother Earl, and her nephews Richard Wegner and Jimmy Mehciz.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 30, 2002 at 7 p.m. at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home on Moreland Blvd. Pastor James L. Wilch will officiate. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 until 7 p.m. Interment will be Thursday at Highland Memorial Park in New Berlin. Please meet at the funeral home on Thursday at 10 a.m. for a procession to the cemetery.

Almira L. Williams
Almira L. Williams, of Waukesha, died on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003 at River Hills Health Care Center - West at the age of 71 years. She was born on February 5, 1931 in Adams, WI the daughter of George and Louise Colby.

Almira worked for Waukesha Co. for almost 20 years. She was also a nurses aide at Northview Nursing Home and the Veteran's Home. Almira enjoyed selling Avon while she worked her other jobs. She liked her plants and roses and really enjoyed spending time with her family.

Almira will be sadly missed by her children: Sandra, Brian Sr. (Tammy) and Alan all of Waukesha Her grandchildren: Robert Jr. "B.J.", Benjamin, Brian Jr., Kelly, Andrew, Timothy, Carlos and Hayley Her Great Grandchildren: Dylanray, Joshua, Steven, Jonathan, Isaha and Ashley. Further survived by Brothers, Sisters, Nieces, Nephews other relatives and friends. Almira is preceded in death by her husband: Donald in 1991 and her son: Robert Sr. in 1988.

The funeral service for Almira will be held on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home 237 N. Moreland Blvd. Pastor Michael Hook officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are appreciated to the family. Burial will immediately follow the funeral service at Salem Cemetery in Wales, WI.

Bruce R. Burr
Bruce R. Burr of Waukesha, born on July 8, 1941 in Milwaukee, the son of Malcolm and Ruth (nee Hansen) Burr, died on Tuesday, July 9, 2002 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 61 years.

He owned Bruce Burr Concrete for 43 years. Bruce was a past member of the Eagles Club. He loved to ice fish, garden, play Sheepshead and Cribbage.

He was the beloved husband of Sheryl (nee Ziebelman) of Waukesha, loving father of Scott Burr of Waukesha and Donia (Wayne) Fischer of Appleton, WI, grandfather of Jacob and David Fischer, brother of Sarita (John) Davis of Wauwatosa, Ronald (Rosemary) Burr of Menomonee Falls and Cordell (Joan) Burr of Oconomowoc. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, Ginger Burr, mother of Scott and Donia and friends.

A visitation for Bruce will be on Sunday, July 14, 2002 from 3:00 until 6:00 pm followed by a eulogy at 6:00 pm. at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd. Private interment will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery.

Barbara S. Forrest
Longtime Waukesha resident, Barbara S. Forrest, died on Wednesday, December 12, 2001 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 70 years.

She was born on July 12, 1931 in Milwaukee, the daughter of John & Jo (nee Doring) Swift.

Barbara is a member of St. Matthias Episcopal Church in Waukesha. She retired in 1995 from the Husco International after 22 years of service. In her retirement, Barbara became a gifted and avid quilter, belonging to such groups as Wisconsin Quilters, Quilt Sitters, Thimbleberries Club and Shortcut Sundays. Barbara shared her talent by donating quilts to local non-profit organizations for fundraisers. These groups included Interfaith Caregiving Network, The Caring Place, and Cooperating Congregations of Waukesha County. In addition, she has donated numerous quilts to residents of nursing homes, premature and sick infants in hospitals, and children in Kosovo. She has made friends world wide through her gift of quilting and her gift has given so much to many people.

Barbara is the dear mother of John (Melinda Benjamin) Forrest of Minneapolis, MN., Charles (Peggy) Forrest of Dodgeville, WI., Betsy (John) Crosswaite of Waukesha, and David (Julie) Forrest of East Troy, WI. She is the sister of Mary Jo (Bud) Kortier of Ft. Myers, FL and the grandmother of Steven, Michael, Matthew, Claire, Kelsey, Emily, Jeremey & Jason. Also surviving is her sister-in-law Elizabeth Wolfe of York, PA., as well as other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John "Woody" Forrest and her brother-in-law Hugh Wolfe.

Funeral services will be Saturday, December 15, 2001 at 7 p.m. at St. Matthias Episcopal Church in Waukesha. The Rev. Dr. Douglas Sparks will officiate. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorials would be appreciated to St. Matthias Episcopal Church or the John & Barbara Forrest Scholarship Fund of UW-Waukesha (account 3050-0358).

Bernardine (Carol) Genry
Bernardine (Carol) Genry, of Waukesha, born on December 12, 1937 in Cudahy, WI, the daughter of Bernard and Eleanore (nee Mikorski) Zalim, died on Thursday, January 30, 2003 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 65 years.

She was a member of St. William Catholic Church and the WI Bell Pioneers. Carol's strength and faith allowed her to remain independent and share with family and friends the last years of her life.

She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Debbie (Rick) Muhonen-Wienke, her grandchild, Michael Muhonen, her step-grandchildren; Nicole (fiancée Jamie), Nicholas, Amanda and Rebecca, her sisters; Philomene Perszewski, June (Ron) Bajczyk and Ruth Zalim, her brother, Al (Jackie) Zalim, her special friend, Marnee Leonard, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Funeral Mass for Carol will be 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2003 at St. William Catholic Church, 440 N. Moreland Blvd. Visitation will be from 3:30 pm until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Interfaith Caregiving Network would be appreciated.

Beverly J. Kasten
Beverly J. Kasten, age 67 of Waukesha, died Wednesday December 25, 2002 at West Allis Memorial Hospital. She was born September 8, 1935 in Watertown, Wisconsin a daughter of the late Lester and Dorothy (nee Behling) Hensler.

On June 27, 1959 she married William "Bill" Kasten on June 27, 1959 at St. Henry's Church in Watertown, Wisconsin. Beverly worked at Amron Corporation and was a nurses aid at many area nursing homes and also at Roger's Memorial Hospital in Oconomowoc. She also worked as a private nurses aid in the Waukesha area. She was a very private person, who enjoyed traveling with William and bowling. Her favorite catch phrase was "you've seen one rock, you've seen them all" Beverly was preceded in death by her parents and a sister: Barbara Sellnow.

She is survived by her husband: William "Bill" Kasten of Waukesha, her sister: Cordelia "Cory" Sell of Markesan, Wisconsin, and a brother Ronald (Joanne) Hensler of Watertown, Wisconsin along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The funeral service celebrating Beverly's life will be held Monday December 30th, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Home on Moreland Blvd. Vince Marolla, chaplain from VITAS Hospice will be officiating. Burial will be in Wisconsin Memorial Brookfield, Wisconsin. Friends may call at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home on Sunday December 29, 2002 from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial's in Beverly's name may be directed to the VITAS Healthcare (2675 N. Mayfair Road. Wauwatosa, WI 53226).

Barbara J. Katzner
Barbara J. Katzner, of Waukesha was born on January 15, 1927 in Oconto, WI, the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (nee Haley) Vertz, and died on Tuesday, November 19, 2002 at the age of 75 years.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was a resident at Heartland Health Care of Pewaukee.

She will be sadly missed by her husband, Donald, whom she married on August 11, 1951, her daughter, Cindi (Paul) Schmitt of Newport News, VA, her brother, Richard (Betty) Vertz of Casa Grande, Arizona, her sister, Elaine (William) Smithers of Pewaukee, her grandchildren; Joseph, Laura and Sarah, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, Lynne Marie, an infant son, Kevin Donald and brother, Kenneth Vertz.

Funeral services for Barbara will be on Friday, November 22, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd. Pastor Scott Oelhafen will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will be on Saturday, November 23, 2002 at Prairie Home Cemetery. Meet at the cemetery at 9:00 a.m. Memorials would be appreciated to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Pewaukee Public Library.

Bernadine A. (Bea) Latus
Bernadine A. (Bea) Latus, age 82 of Waukesha, died peacefully Thursday September 19, 2002 in the care of her family. She was born August 13, 1920 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin a daughter of the late Martin and Bernice (nee Borucki) Czarnecki.

She graduated from South Division High School in Milwaukee. On August 28, 1946, she married Richard E. Latus in Milwaukee. Bernadine enjoyed square dancing, bowling, needlework and crocheting and was an avid baseball fan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard on August 19, 1992, her grandson: Eric M. Latus in 1983, and her three brothers: Ellis and Clarence Czarnecki and Casey Carney.

Bernadine is the beloved mother of Kenneth R. (Diane) Latus of Waukesha, Wisconsin, Alan J. (Carol) Latus of Muskego, Wisconsin, William M. (Meg) Latus of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. She is the cherished grandmother of Kenneth M. (Stacey) Latus of Waukesha, Wisconsin, Richard A. (Vera) Latus of Fredonia, Wisconsin, Meganne E. Latus of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, Nicholas A. Latus of Waukesha, Wisconsin, Thomas W. Latus of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin and Andrew P. Latus of Waukesha, Wisconsin, along with other relatives and friends.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Bernadine will be held Monday September 23, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at St. William’s Catholic Church in Waukesha (440 N. Moreland Blvd.) Father Mark Payne will be the celebrant of the mass. Entombment will be at Wisconsin Memorial in Brookfield, Wisconsin. Friends may call on Sunday September 22, 2002 at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home (237 N. Moreland Blvd.) from 5 :00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A parish vigil will be held at 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bernadine’s name may be directed to the Rolland Nelson Crossroads Hospice (1020 James Drive Suite E, Hartland, Wisconsin 53029.
