JOSEPH P. CIARAMITA, 80, of Beloit, WI, died Sunday, July 20, 2003 in Beloit Memorial Hospital.

He was born April 18, 1923, in South Beloit, IL, the son of Joseph and Rose Spicciatti Ciaramita. He married Lucille M. Sciacca on June 1, 1946 in St. Peters Catholic Church, South Beloit, IL.

Joseph was a 1941 graduate of South Beloit High School. He was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army. He was employed by Yates-American Machine Company for 37 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, Beloit, WI., South Beloit American Legion Holtz-Hirst Post #288, and the Quarter Century Club at Yates-American Machine Company.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Lucille; one son, Peter (Lynne) Ciaramita of Racine, WI; three grandchildren, Amy (Geoff) Schiveley of Racine, WI, Dr. Jeffrey Ciaramita and Christine Ciaramita both of St. Louis, MO; one great grandson, Connor Schiveley; one sister, Lena Gagliani of Las Vegas, NV; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, two sisters Betty Ash and Congetta Todora and a brother, James Siegneri.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2003 in Our Lady Of The Assumption Catholic Church with Father Gary L. Krahenbuhl officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Thabor Cemetery, Beloit, WI, with Military Rites. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. with a Scripture Service at 6:00 p.m. in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his name to the Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church Building Fund.

ELAINE G. CARPENTER, 91, of Beloit, WI, died Tuesday, July 8, 2003 in Beloit Memorial Hospital.

She was born April 29, 1912 in Beloit, WI, the daughter of Walter F. and Flora Peck Hilker Sr. Elaine was a 1931 graduate of Beloit High School. She married Earl Carpenter on May 22, 1937 in her parent's home on W. Grand Avenue with the Reverend Studebaker officiating. Earl predeceased her on July 15, 1989.

Elaine was employed by McNeanys Department Store, Fox's Supermarket, and CJ Moriarity Clothing. A member of Second Congregational Church since 1924. She was one of the oldest members. Elaine was a Deaconess, a member of the Rebecca Chapter, Women's Fellowship, and the MuEx Club.

Survivors include her two daughters, Janet (Joe) Marino of Beloit, WI, and Sandra (Denny Cofoid) Lynch of Roscoe, IL; four grandchildren, Jeff Mork of Springfield, MO, Kim Mork, Lisa Lynch, and Rob Lynch all of Beloit, WI; three great grandchildren, Alicia Lynch, Brandon Lynch, and Joshua Mork all of Beloit, WI; one sister, Nina (John) Sinski of Green Valley, AZ; two nieces, Sylvia (Harold) Frank of Rockton, IL, and Kaye Fullerton of Brownsville, TX; special friend, Shirley Sweet of Beloit, WI; other cousins, relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents and one brother, W. Fran Hilker.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 11, 2003 in the Second Congregational Church with the Reverend Douglas Gray officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI.

Memorials may be given in her name to Second Congregational Church.

ALFRED L. COTTON , 84, of Beloit, WI, died Wednesday, June 11, 2003 in his home.

He was born October 4, 1918 in Argenta, IL, the son of Alfred and Maude Heinz Cotton. Alfred was a veteran of WWII serving with the Merchant Marines. He married Louise A. Parker on June 18, 1944 in Decatur, IL.

Alfred was certified from Dunwoody Institute and later worked for Beloit Corporation for 33 years as chief power engineer, retiring in 1982. He taught boiler operations at Blackhawk Technical College for years. Alfred was an active Boy Scout leader for 15 years at First United Methodist. He received a scholarship from the Boy Scout Council to attend Philmont Scout Camp in New Mexico in the summer of 1966. He was on the City committee of Stationary Engineers. Alfred volunteered for Meals on Wheels and Red Cross Blood Drives. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Louise; two children, Janice (Erich) Gause of Tulsa, OK, and John (Laura) Cotton of Brookfield, WI; four grandchildren, Brian and Elisabeth Gause of San Diego, CA, Sarah and Aaron Cotton of Brookfield, WI.

He was predeceased by his parents, one son, Jay, and sister, Alberta Pearl.

Private services for the family will be held Saturday, June 14, 2003 after the visitation. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday in Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI.

Memorials may be given in his name to Beloit Regional Hospice.

DOUGLAS C. COVERT Sr, 83, of Janesville, WI, died Tuesday, June 10, 2003 in Cedar Crest Health Care Center, Janesville, WI.

He was born March 21, 1920 in Beloit, WI, the son of Marvin J. and Bernice Stoker Covert. Douglas was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army Air force. He married Grace M. Lay on April 19, 1941 in St. Jude Catholic Church, Beloit, WI. She predeceased him on January 27, 1977. Douglas later married Martha Brunsell Hill in 1980 in First Lutheran Church, Janesville, WI. She predeceased him on November 3, 1996.

Douglas was owner and operator of Covert Catering Service for 27 years, retiring in 1975. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, Janesville, WI.

Survivors include his two sons, Douglas C. (Arlene) Covert Jr. of Punta Gorda, FL, Gerard M. (Cheryl) Covert of Pleasanton, CA; two grandsons, Jeffrey A. (Jessi) Covert of Chanhassen, MN, and Douglas C. Covert III of Eden Prairie, MN; one great granddaughter, Ellsie Amelia Covert; several nieces, nephews and many loving friends.

He was predeceased by his parents.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 13, 2003 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Pastor James Melvin officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Thabor Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Friday in the funeral home.

Memorials may be given in his name to Cedar Crest Health Center, Janesville, WI.

TERRY L. COLEMAN, 50, of Beloit, WI, died Monday, June 9, 2003 in his home.

He was born June 22, 1952 in Beloit, WI, the son of Claude and Mamie Van Voorhees Coleman Sr. Terry was a 1970 graduate of Beloit High School. He married Janet Y. Talley on August 1, 2000 in Las Vegas, NV.

Terry was employed by Beloit Corporation for 20 years and later by Taylor Freezer. He was a member of the Beloit Rifle Club.

Survivors include his wife, Janet; one son, Shawn Coleman; his mother, Mamie Coleman; four brothers, Gary (Paula) Coleman, Denny (Tammy) Coleman, Michael (Dorine) Coleman, Claude (Vickie) Coleman Jr.; one sister, Joyce (Tony) Mauhar; several nieces and nephews.

Terry will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

He was predeceased by his father.

Funeral services will be 6:00 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2003 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with the Reverend Larry Froemming officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services Thursday in the funeral home.

CATHERINE S. CAIRNS, 92, formerly of 1232 Ninth Street, Beloit, WI, died Wednesday, June 4, 2003 in Fair Oaks Health Care Center, South Beloit, IL.

She was born May 24, 1911, in Hamilton, Scotland, the daughter of Patrick and Catherine Swift O'Donnell. She graduated from St. Agatuas High School in Hamilton. Catherine married Bernard Cairns in 1932 in Scottland. He predeceased her in June of 1986.

Catherine was formerly employed by Beloit Memorial Hospital, and later by George Brothers as a seamstress. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church.

Survivors include her son, Patrick Cairns of Beloit; two daughters, Maureen (John) Laage of El Paso, TX, and Pat (George) Stewart of Beloit; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Nancy Cairns of Florida; numerous nieces and nephews.

Her parents, five brothers, five sisters, one daughter, Catherine, and one granddaughter, Margaret Hall predeceased her.

The family would like to thank the staff at Fair Oaks Health Care Center for all the love and care they gave their mother.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2003 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Fr. Steve Kortendick officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Thabor Cemetery. Visitation will be 12:00 p.m until the time of services Wednesday in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in her name to Brother Dutton School.

FRANK J. CISEWSKI, 41, of Beloit, WI, went to be with the Lord Monday, May 19, 2003 in St. Anthony's Hospital, Rockford, IL.

He was born August 8, 1961 in New London, Ct, the son of Keith L. and Joyce Miller Cisewski. Frank was a 1980 graduate of Crystal Lake High School. Frank was employed by Atwood in Rockford for 15 years as a welder.

Frank was the sweetest man we know. He always did anything anyone needed or wanted. He gave to a lot of charities, Jerry Lewis telethon was a big one, he gave a lot to Christian organizations. Frank had the biggest heart of anyone we know. Frank loved Jesus and up to the end he was telling people about the Lord and of his great love. He loved and cherished his boys. Frank loved the holidays. The Fourth of July was very special. Every year think of Frank when you see the light of the fireworks.

Survivors include his former wife, Cindy; two sons, Frank Christopher Cisewski and Jared John Cisewski both of Beloit, WI; father and stepmother, Keith (Cindy) Cisewski of Queen Creek, AZ; mother and stepfather, Joyce (Dennis) Busch of Nelson, WI; one sister, Becky (Jeff) Papendorf of Avalon, WI; one brother, Kris (Michaele) Cisewski of Orfordville, WI; Charlene Morgan, Frank called her his baby of Rockford, IL; step-sister, Julie (Richard) Veneman of Beloit, WI; step-brother, Jonathan Busch of Beloit, WI; nieces and nephews, Jeffery (Brittnia) Papendorf of Avalon, WI, Kyle Papendorf and Lisa Papendorf both of Avalon, WI, Benjermin Cisewski, Adam Cisewski both of Orfordville, WI, Haley Veneman and Michael Veneman both of Beloit, WI; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was predeceased by his grandparents.

Funeral services will be 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 23, 2003 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with the Reverend David L. Metzger officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
