Gertude Lydia Helmer
Gertrude Lydia Helmer, 90, 407 Arbutus Ave., Oconto died July 25, 2000 at Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born January 13, 1910 at Oconto to the late Ferdinand and Bertha Kittler Andre. She married James R. Helmer on September 23, 1953. Gertrude worked at Bosted Restaurant, Oconto, Bond Pickle Co. for 15 years and also operated the Pioneer Tavern with her husband for eight years. She was a member of First American Lutheran Church, Oconto. Survivors include her husband, James R. Helmer; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and three sisters. Friends called at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday. Funeral service was 11 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2000, at the funeral home with Randy Young, Intern, officiating. Burial at Evergreen Cemetery.
Judith J. Fischer
Judith J. Fischer, 53, Ucil Lake Road, Pound died at home on July 26, 2000 following an illness of four months. She was born in Pound June 11, 1947 to the late Donald and Helen Johnson Pasek. Judy married Herb Fischer June 15, 1968 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Coleman. She was a recycling attendant for Bagley Township and also served as Deputy Zoning Administrator for many years for the Town. Judy was a part-time cook at LaVern and Gail's Diner in Suring. She truly loved the outdoors and many outside activities. Reading was her favorite pastime. Judy was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Suring. Survivors include her husband Herb, of Pound; her two daughters, Connie Dan Hinther, Christine Fischer all of Pound; her two sons, Mark Colleen Fischer, Michael Fischer all of Pound; one sister, LaVerne Tedtman, of Suring; a grandson, Peyton; an uncle, Norman Johnson, of Wausau. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Suring on Saturday July 29, 2000 beginning at 9:30 a.m. until funeral services 11 a.m. at the church wih Pastor Russell Kampfer officiating. Burial in Hickory Cemetery. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church.
Howard 'CAB'Bostedt Jr.
Howard "CAB" Bostedt Jr., 74, of Oconto, died July 25, 2000. Howard was born February 14, 1926 in Oconto to the late Howard and Irene Exferd Bostedt Sr. He married Margaret 'TD' Helmer on August 9, 1943 in Menominee, MI. Howard worked for Holt Hardwood Mill, American Motors, Reed's Mink Ranch, City of Oconto and the Oconto County Highway Department until his illness in 1967. Howard loved to deer hunt and go fishing. Howard is survived by his wife Margaret "TD", Oconto; one daughter, Susie Claire Trepanier, Oconto; three sons, John Cyndi Bostedt, Oconto; Bo Rita Bostedt, Oconto; Terry Dawn Bostedt, Green Bay; one brother, Freddie Dorothy Bostedt, Green Bay; two sisters, Joyce Miller, Green Bay; Murella Trepanier, Racine; one stepbrother, Billy Bostedt; two stepsisters, Beatha and Marcine; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Pete and Roland Colson. The family received relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday July 27, 2000, and again on Friday, July 28 from 9 to 11 a.m. Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Frederik Schulz officiating and burial at Evergreen Cemetery.
George G. Edlebeck
George G. Edlebeck, 85, of Coleman, died Monday, July 24, 2000 at Bay Area MedicalCenter, Marinette. He was born to the late Louis and Mary Hallada Edlebeck March 23, 1915 in Wausaukee, WI. George attended Wausaukee Schools and married the former Violet Krause on November 9, 1940 in Wausaukee. The couple farmed in Wausaukee until 1949 when they moved to a farm in Lena which they sold in 1977 and retired to Coleman Town of Pound. George was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Lena, a two term president of Holy Name Society, and presently was Chief Ranger of the Catholic Order of Foresters, Court number 682. He was special Deputy in Oconto County for 25 years and Deputy Coroner for John Fischer. George was also a member of the Lena Knights of Columbus and treasurer of Sunny Brook School until its closing. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brother-in-law, Ken Krause. Surviving are his wife, Violet; one daughter, Kathy Marrell Westcot, Abrams; one son, Mike Judy Edlebeck, Green Bay; one grandson, Todd Westcot, Milwaukee; one brother-in-law, Ken Krause, Pound; one sister-in-law, Della Buchholz, Menomonee Falls, WI; and numerous nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by three sisters, Miss Mayme Edlebeck, Mrs. Anne Weber, and Sister Winifred Edlebeck. Friends called at the Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, Lena, where a Knights of Columbus Service and a Parish Wake Service was held. The Funeral Mass was held at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Lena, Thursday at 11 a.m. with both Father Frank Schrage and Msgr. Alfred Schneider officiating. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery, Wausaukee.
Margaret 'Marg'(Mrs. Greg) Martens
Margaret "Marg" (Mrs. Greg) Martens, 74, 206 Park Ave., Oconto Falls, died peacefully Monday, July 24, 2000 at her summer home in Eagle River. She was born April 24, 1926 in Oconto Falls to William J. and Helen Western Kadlec. She grew up in Oconto Falls where she attended school, graduating from high school with the class of 1944. Following graduation, she attended nursing school in Cook County, Illinois. On June 23, 1945 she married Gregory N. Martens in Midland, Texas. The couple have lived in Oconto Falls for most of their married life and have also owned a cottage on Cranberry Lake near Eagle River for over 30 years, where Marg was an avid fisherman. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Oconto Falls and was once active in the Youth Church Organization. She was also a lifetime member of the Oconto Falls American Legion Auxiliary. Marg will be remembered by her family as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Survivors are her husband, Greg Martens; one son, Kerry Martens, Appleton; one daughter, Dr. JoAnn Martens and Drew Kottke, Waunakee; six grandchildren; one brother, Jim Mary Kadlec, Oconto; one sister, "Billie" George Rider, Oconto Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Linda, one brother, William "Buster" Kadlec and three sisters, Kathleen Frank, Jean Robinson and Bette Behling. There was no visitation. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial with the urn present was held 11 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Paul Schumacher officiating. Burial of the urn was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oconto Falls. Jones Funeral Service served the Martens family.
Vivian Irene Drevs
Vivian Irene Drevs, 93, formerly of Oconto died July 24, 2000 at Grancare Nursing and Rehabilitation in Green Bay. The former Vivian Wilkins was born December 2, 1906 at Oconto to the late Otto and Anna Papenfus Wilkins. She married Carl Drevs July 3, 1928 at Merrill, WI. Carl preceded her in death on January 7, 1971. Vivian was a member of First American Lutheran Church, Oconto. Survivors include six sons, Lloyd friend Pat, Green Bay; Russell Ellie, DePere; Gene Lorraine, Waukesha; Clair Terri, Green Bay; Carl Darlene, Pulaski; Robert, DePere; a daughter-in-law, Betty Drevs, Cherry Hill, NJ; 20 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren. She was further preceded in death by two sons, Donald and Orville; three sisters, Eva, Evelyn and Laura; two daughters-in-law, Berniece and Leanne. Friends called at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto from 2 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Funeral service was 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Funeral Home with Randy Young, Intern, officiating. Burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Oconto.

Robert Post, 62, Mountain, formerly of Grafton. Visitation was held Saturday, July 15, 2000 at Tabor Lutheran Church, Mountain, from 1 p.m. until funeral service at 2:30 p.m. at the church. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home, Suring in charge of arrangements.
Steven Butch Anthony Colson
Steven Butch Anthony Colson, 46, a former Oconto resident died July 15, 2000 at Austin, Texas. He was born May 30, 1954 at Shawano, WI. Butch traveled around the country doing construction work. He served in the Army during the Vietnam Era. He is survived by his mother, Marjorie Colson, Oconto; 15 brothers and sisters; many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 6 p.m. Thursday at Evergreen Cemetery. The Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto is assisting the family. A memorial fund has been established.
