Wayne Roesel
Wayne Roesel, 65, of rural Campbellsport, passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2001 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Green Bay.
He was born on April 12, 1936 in Milwaukee to Norman and Meta (nee Kapke) Roesel, and on May 20, 1961, he was united in marriage to Kathleen Mueller at St. Martin's United Church of Christ in Fillmore.
Wayne was a member of St. Lucas Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kewaskum. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen of rural Campbellsport; two children, Timothy G. (Paula) Roesel of Campbellsport and Cheryl (Victor) Blomstrom of Fond du Lac; his mother, Meta Heimermann of West Bend; two brothers, Richard Roesel of West Bend and Larry Roesel of Summit Lake; two grandchildren, Zachary Blomstrom and Colton Roesel, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and step-father, Gregor Heimermann.
Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 24, 2001 at St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kewaskum with Rev. Edwin Fredrich officiating. Cremation will follow.
Friends may call on Sunday at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of services.
The Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum is serving the family.
Isabella ‘Issy’ Duehning
Isabella "Issy" Duehning, nee Scharfenberg, 81, of Slinger, died Wednesday, June 20, 2001, at the Samaritan Health Center, West Bend.
She was born May 6, 1920, in Slinger, to the late Louis and Susan (Scherr) Scharfenberg, and graduated from Slinger High School in 1938.
After her marriage to Arthur M. Duehning on Sept. 24, 1938, at Charles City, Iowa, the couple lived in Milwaukee, settling in Slinger in 1942.
She was the bookkeeper for Art Duehning and Sons Construction of Slinger for over 30 years.
Issy was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Slinger, and the VFW Zunker Held Post 3358 Ladies Auxiliary of Slinger.
She was an avid morel mushroom picker and loved to share her treasured pickings.
Survivors include her husband; three children, Dawn (Dennis) Wiebelhaus and Marie (Jim) Wiedmeyer, both of Slinger, and Robert (Mary) Duehning of West Bend; 12 grandchildren, Patrick, Theresa, Yvonne, Craig, Timothy, Angela, Gary, Kimberly, Jackie, Korey, Douglas and Matthew; seven great-grandchildren, Amber, Mitchell, Brooke, Lea, Emma, Anna Marie and Madeline Rae; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were a brother, five sisters and a grandson, Brad Wiedmeyer.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 24, at 7 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home, Slinger.
Deacon Bernie Wendt will officiate, and entombment will be at 10 a.m. on Monday in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.
Visitation at the funeral home will be Sunday from 4 p.m. until the time of services.
Memorials are appreciated to St. Peter's Catholic Church, Slinger, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
Almira K. "Myra" Westendorf
Almira K. "Myra" Westendorf (nee Kiehkaefer), a long-time resident of Mequon, entered life with her Savior Jesus Christ on June 20, 2001 at the age of 88 years.
She is the cherished wife of 65 years of Fred Westendorf; beloved mother of Fredric Clyde, Gail James and Ellen (Mike) Lane; beloved Nina to Joseph (Rachel) Olbrys, Brooks (Paola) Olbrys, Gigi James (Mike) Wink, Eric Westendorf and Bridget Westendorf; proud great-grandmother of Adam, Gibson and Beckett Olbrys; loving sister of Palma, Ruth and Marion.
She was also the special aunt to Joanne (Norbert), Glenn (Barb) and Barbara (Darryl).
She is further survived by many nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth and Anna; brother-in-law John Gottinger, plus her many friends, neighbors and golfing friends.
She was preceded in death by brother Carl and sisters Isabelle and Florence.
Myra was a long faithful servant at St. John’s Lutheran Church and an avid golfer at both Brown Deer and Mequon Ladies Golf Clubs.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 23, at 11 a.m, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 7877 N. Port Washington Road, Glendale. Interment was held at the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Concordia University Endowment, Mequon, are appreciated.
Alma M. Behrens
Funeral services were held Sunday at First Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg for Alma M. Behrens, 97, of Cedarburg who died Thursday, June 21, 2001, at Lasata Care Center. The Mueller Funeral Home, Cedarburg, assisted the family.
She was born Aug. 18, 1903 in Mequon to the late Henry and Ottilie (nee Gierach) Hintz, and married the late Ernst Behrens on June 16, 1928 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Grafton.
She was a homemaker and long-time active member at First Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg.
She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Aletta Scheunemann and Hilda Sells, both of Cedarburg. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, Ernst Jr.
Interment took place Sunday after services at Zur Ruhe Cemetery in Cedarburg.
Memorial to First Immanuel United Church are appreciated.
Stephen James Fuller
Stephen James Fuller, 72, of West Bend died Friday, June 22, 2001, at his residence.
He was born April 27, 1929, in Campbellsport, to the late Stephen and Leona (Caine) Fuller, and married Patricia A. Johann on May 28, 1960, at Holy Trinity Church, Newburg.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Stephen was a retired boiler/maintenance man, and also worked as a milk tester and an owner/operator of two Campbellsport businesses, a beer bar and drive-in restaurant.
He will be remembered fondly by everyone who knew him. His family will treasure all of their memories of him. His sense of humor and honest character will survive him as they are present in all of his children.
Survivors include five children, Brian (Laurie) Fuller of Newburg, Brenda (Dean) Lache and Mark (Mary) Fuller, both of West Bend, Sandra (Chris) Coman and Stephanie (Paul) Dixon, both of Kewaskum; two brothers, Lawrence (Edith) Fuller of Germantown and Raymond Strade of Campbellsport; a sister, Laverne Schekirke of Eden; six grandchildren, Eric, Leah, Ali, Megan, Hannah and Tina; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death was his stepfather, Monroe Strade.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 25, at 7 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home, West Bend.
Father Patrick Wendt will officiate, and cremation will take place at Paradise Cremations of West Bend, with interment of ashes in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.
Visitation at the funeral home will be Monday from 4 p.m. until the time of services.
Memorials to Heartland Hospice of West Bend are appreciated.
Mary Ann Kohls
Mary Ann Kohls, nee Crawford, 61, of West Bend, formerly of Hutchinson, Kan., died Saturday, June 23, 2001, at St. Joseph's Community Hospital.
She was born Dec. 12, 1939, in Hutchinson, to the late Alfred and Mary (Buser) Crawford, and graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1958.
After her marriage to Keith B. Kohls on May 11, 1960, in Hutchinson, the couple lived in Sheboygan, moving to West Bend in 1975.
Mary leaves behind her wonderful husband, Keith; her daughters, Connie (Scott) Plumb, Carol (Doug) Molter and Kathy (Mike) Eberhard; her loving grandchildren, Shawn, Josh, Jake, Jessie, Jason, Peter, Amanda, Matthew, Keith, Phillip, David, Tiffany and Benjamin; a great-grandson, Anthony; her very special father-in-law, Ray "Pa"â Kohls. Also, her brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Carol Haley; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were a son, Rodney, and her mother-in-law, Emma Kohls.
She was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, West Bend.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 26, at 1 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home, West Bend.
Rev. George Mumm will officiate, and entombment will be in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.
Visitation at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Memorials are appreciated to the American Heart Association or to the Children's Hospital of Milwaukee.
