Daniel W. Thuecks

Daniel W. Thuecks, 17, of Hartford, passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2001, as a result of a traffic accident in the town of Rubicon.
He was born on Sept. 8, 1983, in Milwaukee.

He is the dearest son of Wayne R. and Kay (nee Weber) Thuecks of Hartford; dearest brother of Rebecca Thuecks of Hartford; loving grandson of Roland and Ethel Thuecks of Elkhart Lake and Marvin and Elvira Weber of Elkhart Lake. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Daniel was a senior at Hartford Union High School, class of 2002 and was on the varsity basketball team and baseball team. He was playing on the Hartford Legion baseball team and with a Hartford summer basketball league. Daniel loved to hunt and fish, and was a member of St. Kilian's Catholic Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, July 13, at 10 a.m. at St. Kilian's Catholic Church, and interment will be in St. Kilian's Cemetery.

Visitation at the Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home, Hartford, will be Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m.

Memorials to St. Kilian's School or Religious Education are appreciated.

Meta C. Stern

Meta C. Stern, 93, of Jackson, died Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at Community Memorial Hospital, Menomonee Falls.

She was born Sept. 24, 1907, in Kewaskum, to the late Otto and Martha (nee Schulz) Stern, and married the late John Stern on Oct. 28, 1925.

Meta was a long-time member of David's Star Ev. Lutheran Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Grace (Eugene) Maciejewski; a daughter-in-law, Betty Marialke; grandchildren, Gail Maciejewski, Gay (Daniel) Herther, Guy Maciejewski, Geanine Maciejewski, Merlin Stern, Steven (Kathy) Stern and Julie Stern; nine great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were a son, Roman, and a sister, Alma Roell.

Funeral services will be be held on Friday, July 13, at 7 p.m. at David's Star Ev. Lutheran Church, Kirchhayn, with interment in Pinelawn Memorial Park.

Visitation at the church will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.

Memorials to David's Star Ev. Lutheran Church are appreciated.

Harold A. Philippi

Harold A. Philippi, 77, of West Bend, died Monday, July 9, 2001, at his residence.

He was born Feb. 24, 1924, in West Bend, to the late Alban and Susan (nee Laufer) Philippi.

After graduating from West Bend High School he entered the U.S. Army where he attended Colorado State University for two years prior to being sent to Europe where he participated in the invasion of Germany. Harold continued serving in Germany during the Nuremburg Trials.

After his discharge he returned to West Bend and was employed at The West Bend Co. for a short time and then was employed as a roofer and carpenter for Syl Herman and then for Laubenstein Roofing.

Harold took an early retirement so he could be the caregiver for his father.

On Sept. 12, 1989, he married Marion Dolores Walter (nee Siedschlag) at St. Frances Cabrini Church, West Bend.

He was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Church and the Father Casper Rehrl Council 1964 Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his wife; three stepsons, Michael (Sandi) Walter of West Bend, Jeffrey (Dawn) Walter of Slinger and Robert (Maria) Walter of Glencoe, Ill.; six step-grandchildren, Jessica, Jordan, Lindsay, Tyler, Christopher and Jack; two sisters, Evelyn Fischer and Laverne (Tom) Winkler, both of West Bend; three brothers, Wilmer, Edward (Kathy) and Donald (Pat), all of West Bend; other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were two sisters, Marie Cleary and Jeanette Hausmann, and three brothers-in-law, Aaron Fischer, A. John Cleary and Donald Schmidt.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 12, at 2 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 2:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Church.

Fr. Michael Petersen of St. Frances Cabrini Church will be the presider, and entombment will follow in Washington County Memorial Park.

Visitation at the funeral home will be Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.

Memorials to St. Frances Cabrini Church "Building on Our Dreams’ building fund, the Haiti Mission, the American Cancer Society or Heartland Hospice are appreciated.

David R. Fuge

David R. Fuge, 61, of the town of Matteson, died Monday, July 9, 2001, at his home after a brief battle with cancer.

He was born Oct. 4, 1939, in West Bend, to Mabel (Bast) Fuge and the late Robert Fuge. He lived his early life in the West Bend area where he attended St. John's Lutheran School and graduated in 1957 from West Bend High School.

David served with the U.S. Army in both the U.S. and Korea until his discharge in 1960.

He attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and Marquette University, earning a degree in engineering.

On Jan. 28, 1961, he was united in marriage to Ann Schafer in Clintonville.

David was employed by the cities of Oshkosh and West Bend in the engineering department and in 1965 joined Urban Telephone Co. (currently called Frontier Corporation) in Clintonville. He served as the plant engineer until 1985 when he and his wife opened their wildlife art galley and gift shop called Honey Creek in Clintonville.

David was a member of the Christus Lutheran Church, a lifetime member of the Trout Unlimited organization and a long-time member of Ducks Unlimited Inc.

He was instrumental in the creation and ongoing existence of the Navarino Nature center.

David had been active in the Clintonville Area Chamber of commerce and was a supporter of the Mainstreet Reconstruction project.

He was an avid hunter, fisherman, bowler and skier, enjoyed sailing, and wood carving and was a true nature lover.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Patrick (Paula) of Green Bay, Michael (Trisha) of Plover, Jeffrey (Kristine) of Lindstrom, Minn. and Christopher (Jamie) of Rosholt; six grandchildren; his mother, Mabel Fuge of Kewaskum; a sister, Barbara (Warren) Stern of West Bend; a brother, Robert (Lynn) Fuge of West Bend; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 12, at the Christus Lutheran Church, Clintonville.

Rev. Willard Hager will officiate, and interment will follow in the Bethesda Cemetery town of Navarino, Shawano County.

Friends may call at the Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home, 1029 N. Main St., Clintonville, 54929 (715-823-2450) on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m., and at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services.

A memorial fund has been established in David's memory.

Wayne G. Wille
A memorial Mass was held on Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at 7 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grafton for Wayne G. Wille, 59, who died unexpectedly on July 6 at Froedtert Memorial Hospital.

Visitation was held at the church from 5-7 p.m. with an inurnment at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery, Newburg, the next morning. Fr. Mike Barrett officiated. Mueller Funeral Home of Grafton assisted the family.

He was born Jan. 16, 1942 in Mendota, Ill., the son of the late Elmer and Florence (nee Schmitz) Wille. He was the owner of Plaza Barber Shop in Grafton for more than 35 years. He enjoyed bowling at Circle B on the team in which he sponsored and had also volunteered his services to many civic organizations.

Wille is survived by his wife Minnie (nee Gibson-Beard) of Port Washington, mother Florence (nee Schmitz) of Cedarburg; children Steven (Julie) of Appleton, Krista (John) Michaels of Sheboygan, Erik (Kimberly) of West Bend, Jason (Jennifer) of West Bend, Robin (Brett) Dotzauer of Grafton, and Nathan of Grafton; mother of children, Sandra Michalski; step-children Theodore (Bobbie) Beard of Milwaukee, Michael Beard of St. Paul, Minn., Cornelius (Dede) Beard of St. Paul, Minn., Linda Beard of St. Paul, Minn. and Robert Beard of St. Paul, Minn.; brother Glenn (Kathy) Wille of Cedarburg and sister Carol (the late Robert) Frymark.

He is further survived by 10 grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and his brother Dennis.

Raymond "Ray" Waters
A Funeral Service was held on Thursday, July 12, 2001 at 2 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg, for Raymond "Ray" Waters, 90, who died on July 8, 2001 at St. Mary’s Ozaukee Hospital.

Visitation was held at the church prior to the funeral service from noon until 2 p.m. Rev. Dale Erickson officiated the funeral service. Mueller Funeral Home of Cedarburg assisted the family.

Waters was born on Jan. 10, 1911 in Port Washington to the late William and the late Kathryn (nee Porte) Waters. He later married Leona (nee Hanneman) on June 18, 1932 in Cedarburg. Ray worked for Kiekhaefer Manufacturing as a foreman and he was also a very active church member at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg.

Waters is survived by his four children: Gordon (Janet) of Carnie, Mich., Carol L. (George "Bud") Dauss of Cedarburg, Kathleen (James) Wildes of Fond du Lac, and Gary (Bonnie) of Fond du Lac.

He is further survived by nine grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Ray was preceded in death by his wife Leona, who died in 1996.

Memorials can be made to either Immanuel Lutheran Church or the Cedarburg Senior Center.
