Francis C. "Frank" Hayes

Francis C. "Frank" Hayes, 79, of West Bend, formerly of Milwaukee, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001, at his residence.

He was born May 12, 1922, in Wausau, to the late William and Sophia (Timm) Hayes, and attended St. Nazianz in Manitowoc.

After his marriage to Jeanette A. Degroot on June 26, 1943, in Chicago, Ill., the couple moved to the Milwaukee area and settled in West Bend in 1998.

He was a salesman for a food broker in Milwaukee retiring in 1985.

Frank was an avid golfer.

Survivors include his wife; three children, Patricia (Brad) Brandt of Wauwatosa, Kathy Muffler of Texas and Mary Nycz of Saukville; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a step-great-grandson; a brother, William (Adeline) Hayes of Fargo, N.D.; three sisters, Catherine (Earl) Moore of Ocean Pine, Mass., Marian (Edward) Brannick of Pennsylvania and Margaret (Carl) Lau of Wausau; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were a son-in-law, Michael Muffler and a great-granddaughter, Rachel.

He was a member of Divine Word Catholic Church, Cedarburg.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 6 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home, West Bend.

Father George Gadios will officiate, and interment will be in Pinelawn Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.

Visitation at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 4 p.m. until the time of services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Cedar Lake Campus.

Bruce A. Gray

Bruce A. Gray, 57, of Madison, formerly of the West Bend area, died on Friday, Sept. 21, 2001, at St. Mary's Hospital Medical center, Madison.

He was born on Dec. 19,1943, in Madison to the late Alvin and Mildred (nee Seils) Gray, and married Carol J. Tippelt on Sept. 29, 1984, in Rockton, Ill.

After graduating from the former Janesville High School, he became employed at the Janesville Gazette until 1984.

He then became associated with various newspapers around the state, including the Beaver Dam Citizen, Green Bay Chronicle, Oconomowoc Enterprise, West Bend Daily News and Port Publications.

He mainly worked in the circulation and commercial sales departments.

For the past year, his hobby and greatest passion became a business, Nature's Window, which featured nature, scenic and wildlife photography.

He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and many outdoor activities, especially if it included spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Heather Gray (Larry Seefeldt) of Campbellsport and Heidi Fisher (Lucas Fogas) of Kewaskum; a granddaughter, Courtney Foemming; his mother-in-law, Marcella Daubins of Janesville; a brother, David Webb (Roxanne) of Janesville; a sister, Ginger (Robert) Anthony of Bethalto, Ill.; two sisters-in-law, Jan (Steve) Asplund of Janesville and Janice (Paul) Britton of Brodhead; a brother-in-law, Duane (Karen) Tippelt of Janesville; aunts and uncles, Bea and Russ Seils, Burt Seils, Robert Webb and Stella Webb, all of Madison; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were a brother, Brian Peart; his stepfather, Don Webb; and a nephew, Matt Peart.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 26, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, West Bend, followed by burial in Winfield Cemetery in the town of Scott.

Visitation at the Schmidt Funeral Home, 629 Cedar St., West Bend, will be Tuesday after 4 p.m., and also Wednesday at the church only from 10 until 10:45 a.m.

The family has asked that memorials be given to the American Heart Association.

Alton W. Greget

Alton W. Greget, 86, of Hartford, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001, at his residence in New Mexico.

He was born July 25, 1915, in Mayville, to the late William and Hilda (nee Kohli) Greget, and married Mary Tagliapietra on June 20, 1936, at St. Mary's Church, Eden.

Al was a member of St. Kilian Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Bonnie (Don) Multhauf of Hartford; two sons, Roger (Mary Ann) Greget of Farmington, N.M. and Duwayne Greget of San Antonio Texas; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Jessie (Bennie) Winicki of Stevens Point; three sisters-in-law, Elaine Greget of Fond du Lac, Vira Zucchi of Manitowoc and Josie Leggio of Milwaukee; a brother-in-law, John (Della) Tagliapietra of Clintonville; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were three brothers, Charlie, Earl and Milian; a sister, Gladys (Ezra) Rehberg; two brothers-in-law, John Zucchi and Ted Leggio.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Kilian Catholic Church.

Father Michael Petrie will officiate, and interment will be in St. Kilian Cemetery.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Monday at the Shimon Funeral Home, Hartford, from 4 to 7 p.m.

Memorials to St. Kilian Building Fund are appreciated.

Susan Marie Seefeld

Susan Marie Seefeld, 49, of Kewaskum, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001, at St. Joseph's Community Hospital, West Bend.

She was born on July 12, 1952, in Kewaskum, to Harold and Adeline (Kutz) Bath, and in 1971 was united in marriage to Mark Jaycox at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Kewaskum. He passed away on Aug. 26, 1990.

On July 1, 1995, she married Ralph Seefeld.

Prior to moving to Kewaskum, Susan was a member of St. Olaf's Catholic Church in DeForest where she taught CCD for 10 years and was the Lodi Center chairperson.

She was a Girl Scout leader, a community chairperson for Girl Scouts, a 4-H clothing leader and a member of the homemakers club "Leeds Highlighters" in DeForest.

After moving to Kewaskum, Susan was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church where she was a CCD teacher, had been employed by Regal Ware Inc. in Kewaskum since 1992, and operated an in-home day care, Sunshine and Rainbows.

She enjoyed baking birthday and wedding cakes for family and friends.

Survivors include her husband; four daughters, Shelly (Nick) Walters of Kewaskum, Tina (Pat) Janesch of West Bend and Jenny and Brenda Jaycox, both at home; two sons, Mark (Marie) Jaycox Jr. of West Bend and Jeremy Jaycox of Kewaskum; her parents, Harold and Adeline Bath of Kewaskum; two sisters, Connie (Rich) Marks and Debbie Mirenda, both of Kewaskum; a brother, Steve Bath of Kewaskum; five grandchildren; a special friend, Cathy Fay of Fond du Lac; three stepdaughters, Jenny and Amanda Seefeld, both of West Bend, and Valerie Donnally of Milwaukee; other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death was a grandson, Jeffrey Walters.

A memorial service will be celebrated at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 26, at Holy Trinity Catholic church, Kewaskum, with Father Mark Jones officiating.

The family will receive visitors at the church on Wednesday from 5 p.m. until the time of services.

Memorials to cancer research are appreciated.

In honor of her request, her body was donated to the Medical College of Milwaukee.

Marilyn R. Szymanski

Marilyn R. Szymanski, nee Helfer, 59, of the town of Erin, was born to eternal life on Saturday, Sept. 22.

She was the loving wife of Kenneth; dearest mother of Denise (Joe) Rebholz, Christine (Charles) Larson and Lori (Paul) Eddy; fond grandmother of Tyler, Erin, Brittany and Max; dear daughter-in-law of Emily Szymanski; life-long friend of Betty Hetreed. Also surviving are other relatives and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, Sept. 26, at 1 p.m. at the Holy Hill Shrine-Chapel of St. Therese, with interment in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Mequon.

Visitation will be Wednesday at the chapel from noon to 1 p.m.

The Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home, Hartford, is serving the family.

Kathleen M. "Kathy" Foy

Kathleen M. "Kathy" Foy, nee Jones, 69, of West Bend, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001, at St. Joseph's Community Hospital.

She was born March 16, 1932, in Fillmore, to the late George and Celeste (Crass) Jones, and lived in West Bend.

She enjoyed her friends and family and the view of Regner Park from her front window.

Kathy was a retired employee of Amity Leather of West Bend.

Survivors include three children, Linda (Rupert) Yantz of West Bend, Wilson "aka Larry" Foy of Lewisville, Texas and John (Shirley) Foy of North Prairie; three grandchildren, Gregg, Merritt and Andy; a brother, Donald Jones of Boltonville; two sisters-in-law, Mary Jones of Port Washington and Marcella "Sally" Jones of Grafton; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were a sister, Pearl, and two brothers, William and Wilson.

She was a member of St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Church of West Bend.

Closing of the casket prayers will be held at 9:45 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 29 at the Phillip Funeral Home, West Bend, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Church, West Bend.

Father Patrick Wendt will officiate, and interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Visitation at the funeral home will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m., with a prayer vigil at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are appreciated to The American Lung Association or Arthritis Foundation.
