John W. Behling
A funeral service will be held today at 2 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home for John W. Behling of Grafton, who died on Sept. 30, 2001 at the age of 71. Visitation will be from 12:30-2 p.m. Rev. John Suelflow will officiate at the ceremony. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Milwaukee.
Mueller Funeral Home of Grafton is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mr. Behling was born Oct. 4, 1929 in Shorewood, son of Adolph and Martha (nee Wiede) Behling. He worked as a security guard at the post office and attended St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Survivors include: nephew Bill (Elaine) Gumtow of Houston; niece Nadine (Dave) Dankenbring of Denver; brother-in-law Herb (Mabel) Gumtow of Elm Grove.
Memorials to St. Paul Lutheran Church are appreciated.
Norma K. Zwald
Norma K. Zwald, nee Roth, 106, a descendant of one of Slinger's pioneer families, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001.
She was born in Slinger on Jan. 5, 1895, to the late Charles and Margaret (nee Peil) Roth, and on Nov. 27, 1923, married Oscar Zwald at St. Peter's Rectory.
Survivors include a daughter, Margaret; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband who died on Sept. 19, 1973, she was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
She was the last member of the immediate family.
Norma was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, a charter member of the Christian Mothers Society and the VFW Auxiliary of Zunker Held Post 3358. She also belonged to the Legion of Mary and the Apostolate of Suffering.
Closing of the casket prayers will be held on Monday, Oct. 8, at 10 a.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home, Slinger, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Slinger.
Father Robert J. Bales will officiate, and burial will be in Old St. Peter's Cemetery.
Visitation at the funeral home will be Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. with a rosary at 8 p.m.
Memorials to St. Peter's Church are appreciated.
Margaret M. Krause
Margaret M. Krause, nee Reuland, 91, of West Bend, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001, at the Samaritan Health Center.
She was born Aug. 17, 1910, in Parkston, S.D., to the late Charles and Elizabeth (nee Fergen) Reuland.
After her marriage to Harry F. Krause on June 27, 1932, in Tyndall, S.D., the couple settled in Tripp, S.D. until coming to West Bend in 1951.
Her husband passed away on Aug. 6, 1991.
Margaret was employed at the former West Bend Canning Co. for a short time and then at the Libby Canning Co. in Jackson, retiring at the age of 65.
She was a member of Holy Angels Parish and the Apostolate of Suffering.
Survivors include five daughters, Betty Reuwsaat, Phyllis (Dewayne) Stiefvater, Mary Jo (Dwayne) Strege, all of West Bend, Marcella (Eugene) Newman of Hartford and Carol (Mark) Schlenvogt of Fredonia; a son-in-law, Norman Otte of Hancock; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were two daughters, Dorothy Otte and Bonnie Fick; a grandson, David Newman; a great-grandson, John David Newman; and a son-in-law, Wilbert "Wimpy" Reuwsaat.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Oct. 8, at 9:30 a.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, West Bend.
Father John Wutscheck will be the presider, and burial will follow in Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery.
Visitation at the funeral home will be Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. and also on Monday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of services.
Arlene M. Hansen
Arlene M Hansen, 68, of 715 Canterberry Court, West Bend entered into rest on Sept. 29, 2001 at her South Texas home.
Mrs. Hansen was born in West Bend on Jan. 11, 1933 to Ralph and Cecelia May Averill.
On Aug. 13, 1951, she and Leo Frank Hansen of Port Washington were married in Hastings, Minn.
Mrs. Hansen is survived by her daughter, Vicki Roberts, of South Padre Island, Texas. She is also survived by her sister Virginia Miller; three brothers, Ralph, Kenneth and Paul Averill; and special people Vincent Averill and James Gilman.
She was cremated and no services are scheduled.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rudy Garza Funeral Home of Harlingen, Texas.
Elsie K. Eichsteadt
Elsie K. Eichsteadt, (nee Engelmann), 90, of Kewaskum, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001 at the residence of her daughter.
She was born on Dec. 16, 1910 on the family homestead farm in the town of Scott, Sheboygan County, to the late Valentine and Ida (nee Neubauer) Engelmann.
On Nov. 18, 1933 she was united in marriage to Herman Eichsteadt at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Beechwood. Together they farmed in the town of Wayne near Kohlsville until moving to West Bend in 1948. Elsie then started working at the West Bend Co. until her retirement in 1970.
She was a member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in the town of Wayne. Elsie enjoyed playing cards, gardening and crocheting. She also enjoyed and loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by two children, Marilyn Martin of Kewaskum, and Calvin (Sandy) Eichsteadt of Manawa; six grandchildren, Craig Martin, Mark (Kristie) Martin, Greg Eichsteadt, Pam (Dave) Boettcher, Michael (Natascha) Eichsteadt and Terry (friend Wendy) Eichsteadt; 11 great-grandchildren, Melanie Martin, Brandon Martin, Erika Martin, Leah Martin, Heather Eichsteadt, Gwen (friend Tyler) Boettcher, Brianne Boettcher, Adrian Boettcher, Benjamin Boettcher, Joshua Boettcher and Ryan Eichsteadt; a sister-in-law Mae Engelmann of Campbellsport; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 14, 1986; two brothers, Ernst and Adolph; and her son-in-law, Wallace Martin.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 7 p.m. at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, town of Wayne. Rev Steven Bode will officiate and burial will be Monday at 11 a.m. in Washington County Memorial Park.
Visitation will be Sunday at the church only from 3 p.m. until the time of service.

Margie J. ‘June’ Czerniak
Margie J. "June" Czerniak, nee Nahm, of Jackson, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2001.
She was the beloved wife of 46 years of Al Czerniak; dear sister-in-law, of Richard Czerniak and Geraldine Persyzk, and is further survived by nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Oct. 7, at 5:30 p.m. at Prasser-Kleczka Bay View Chapel, 3275 S. Howell Ave., Milwaukee, with interment at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Cross Cemetery (meet at cemetery office, North 73rd and West Nash Street entrance).
Visitation at the funeral home will be Sunday from 3 to 5:30 p.m.
If desired, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Patricia Freeman
Patricia Freeman, nee O'Meara, 82, of West Hartford, Conn., widow of Col. Louis C. Freeman, Jr., USA (Ret). died on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001.
She was born in West Bend on May 20, 1919, to the late Thomas F. and Emma (Pick) O'Meara, and graduated from Northwestern University in 1941.
She had resided in West Hartford for over 50 years.
Prior to retiring, Patricia was a realtor with the Wallace Co. in West Hartford for 34 years, and had been named Realtor of the Year for Hartford County in 1985.
She was a founding member of and a longtime communicant at The Church of St. Timothy where she was also an active member of the Women's Club.
Patricia served on the Fair Rent Commission for the town of West Hartford, served on the Executive Board for the Board of Realtors for Hartford County and was a former member of Wampanoag Country Club.
Survivors include three daughters, Jean Tammaro of North Kingston, R.I., Peggy (Earle) Yeamans of Greensboro, N.C., and Katie Freeman of San Diego, Calif.; a son, Gibbs Freeman of San Francisco; a brother, Gen. Andrew P. O'Meara, USA (Ret)) of Arlington, Va.; four grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her beloved grandson, Robert A. Campbell, and four brothers, Daniel, Thomas, James and Stephen O'Meara.
The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, Oct.6 at 10 a.m. in the Church of St. Timothy, West Hartford, followed by burial in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford.
There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Church of St. Timothy, 1116 N. Main St., West Hartford, Conn. 06117.
