Julie Zarling

Julie Zarling, 43, of Los Angeles, Calif., passed away Oct. 26, 2001, and her brother, Kurt Zarling, 42, also of Los Angeles, passed away on Oct. 30, 2001. They were formerly of Kewaskum.
They were the beloved children of the late Richard Zarling Sr.; loving mother, Patricia Zarling; brothers Richard Jr. and Karl; sister-in-law Shelly Wiedmeyer; nieces Rhiannon, Michelle and Miranda.

They were devoted members of Hope Lutheran Church in Los Angeles, and were friends to and supporters of the homeless, shelters, disease research, the arts and many others.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, at Peace Church of Christ, 343 First St., Kewaskum.

Margaret M. "Peggy" Kolpack

Margaret M. "Peggy" Kolpack, nee Mullins, 79, of Slinger, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2001, at Maury Regional Hospital, Columbia, Tenn.
She was born July 10, 1922, in Trout Lake, Wis., to the late Clinton and Beatrice (Curry) Mullins.

After her marriage to Lloyd Kolpack in April of 1961 in Las Vegas, Nev., the couple lived in California, and later in Milwaukee, moving to Slinger in 1966.

She worked as a lead lady for Badger Lab of Jackson for over 10 years, retiring in 1976.

Her husband passed away on April 23, 1996.

Survivors include four children, Brinda (Jerome) Marx of Juneau, Denise (Bruce) Kivi of Columbia, Tenn., Gary (Lori) White of Tempecula, Calif. and Jerry White of Algoma; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three stepchildren, Linda (Keith) Alderman, Lloyd "Butch" Kolpack Jr. and Glenn (Bonnie) Kolpack, all of of Sonora, Calif.; three sisters-in-law, Mary Mullins of Hisperia, Calif., Myra Koephe of Milwaukee and Rose Kolpack of Hement, Calif; a brother-in-law, Norman Zarling of Milwaukee; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death was a mother, Morgan "Moon" Mullins.

She was a member of St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church of Slinger, and Lighthouse Ministries of Summertown, Tenn.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 26, at 7 p.m. at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Slinger.

Rev. James A. Castillo will officiate, and interment will be in Graceland Cemetery, Milwaukee, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday.

Visitation at the church only will be Monday from 3 to 7 p.m.

Memorials are appreciated.

Steven S. "Steve" Zimdars
Steven S. "Steve" Zimdars, 41, of West Bend, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001, in the town of Trenton.

He was born Dec. 2, 1959, in Port Washington, to Earl and Lorraine (nee Bruendl) Zimdars, and was raised in the Fillmore area.

He was a 1978 graduate of Kewaskum High School, and was a self-employed carpenter in the surrounding area.

Survivors include his mother, Lorraine Zimdars of West Bend; two children, Jessica and Joshua Gerritson-Zimdars of Eden; four sisters, Sharon Port of West Bend, Diane (Lee) Heimerl of Fredonia and Donna (Earl) Miller and Sheryl (Steven) Lindley, both of West Bend; five brothers, David (Judith) of Fredonia, Donald (TeriLee) and Dale (Alene), both of West Bend, Darryl (Sue) of Grafton and Daniel of Oshkosh; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

His father preceded him in death on March 20, 1998.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Nov. 26, at 7 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home, West Bend.

Father Robert G. Sampon will officiate, and cremation will take place at Paradise Cremation Services with interment of ashes in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.

Visitation will be Monday from 5 p.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.

Asella C. Rettler (nee Baier)
Asella C. Rettler (nee Baier) of West Bend, formerly of Hartford, died Friday Nov. 23, 2001 at Cedar Lake Health Care Center in West Bend. She was 83.

Rettler was born on Jan. 2, 1918 in the town of Hartford to the late Michael and Anne (Bales) Baier.

On Nov. 22, 1938, she married Leo J. Rettler at St. Lawrence Catholic Church and farmed from 1938 until 1962. She also worked as an Inland Marine underwriter for West Bend Mutual for over 21 years, retiring in 1982.

She was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Church of West Bend, the Hartford Genealogical Society and a past member of the Washington County Historical Society.

She is survived by three daughters, Jeanette (Jerry) Downing of Reedsburg Elaine (Paul Sr.) Steger of Theresa and Bernice Rettler of West Bend; eight grandchildren, Doug Downing, Davind Downing, Kelly (Lor) Steiner, Sara (Eric) Powell, Barb (Ryan) Liebert, Bonnie (Jim) Narance, Brenda (Hugo) Rodriquez and Paul Jr. (Tracy) Steger; eight great grandchildren, Catin, Braze and Aybria Downing, Katie and Mike Liebert, Tony and Maria Rodriquez and Amya Steger; one sister-in-law, Helen Rettler of Hartford; and one brother, Harold (Alice) Baier of St. Lawrence; and other nieces, nephews, relatives and family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leo, and one brother-in-law, Armon Rettler.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 27 at 7:30 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home in West Bend with Father Michael C. Peterson officiating. A private interment will take place at Holy Angels Cemetery of West Bend at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Visitation will be at the Phillip Funeral Home from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Memorials are appreciated.

Raymond "Cy" Arlin Jung

A Memorial Mass was held on Monday, Nov. 26, at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in West Bend for Raymond "Cy" Arlin Jung, who died on Nov. 22, 2001 at the age of 86. Inurnment was at Holy Angels Cemetery.
Mueller Funeral Home in Cedarburg assisted the family with arrangements.

Mr. Jung was born on Nov. 14, 1915 in Fredonia to the late Joseph and Ida Jung. He married Marie (nee Hahn) on May 15, 1946. She died Nov. 13, 1991. He married Alice "Irish" Oberbillig on Oct. 9, 1993. She died Jan. 23, 2000.

He was a Army veteran of World War II, was a member of the American Legion Post 410, Fredonia and a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1398 in West Bend. He was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Church in West Bend.

Survivors include: sons James (Jane) and Ronald (Patti), both of West Bend; grandson Nicholas of Milwaukee; stepchildren Patrick Oberbillig of California, Jack (Marianne) Oberbillig of Lake Mills, Michael (Michelle) Oberbillig of California, Mary Luther of Manitowoc, Cheryl (Jim) Thompson of Iowa, Kathy (Bruce) Fleischmann of Manitowoc, Jean (Anthony) Mazzoleni of Minnesota; stepgrandchildren Steve, Dean and Andrew Thompson of Iowa, Matthew and Jessica Fleischmann of Manitowoc, Catherine and John Mazzoleni of Minnesota.

He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Arlene M. Fellenz
Arlene M. Fellenz, 87, of Campbellsport died Thursday, Nov. 22 at St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac.

She was born in Marshfield on May 4, 1914 the daughter of the late Jacob and Mary Weiss Schneider. On June 28, 1938 she married Leo M. Fellenz at St. Michael's Church in St. Michael. They farmed together in the St. Michael area until moving to Campbellsport in 1983.

She was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Campbellsport, the Christian Women, the Mission Sewing Circle and St. Lawrence Seminary Parents Guild.

Survivors include her husband Leo, her children Richard (Mary) of Plymouth, Rev. Ralph Fellenz, OFM Cap. of Panama, Robert (Maryann) of Kewaskum, Mary (Darold) Werkmeister of Armour, S.D., Joseph (Lynn) of Crestview, Fla., Christine (Gilbert) Deigini of Washington, D.C., Rita Ables of Milwaukee, Ann (Jerome) VanCauteran, of Hatley, Francis (Cheryl) of Campbellsport, Virginia (Rich) Schroeder of Tomah, Caroline (Dennis) Kirsenlohrof Nekoosa and Yvonne Fellenz of Burlington, 24 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 3 sisters, Leona (Clarence) VanBeek of West Bend, Lucille Rinzel of Beechwood and Helen Vogt of West Bend, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by a son-in-law William Ables, a grandchild and a sister Marcella.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 27 at 7 p.m. at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, Campbellsport. Rev. Ralph Fellenz, OFM Cap., Rev. Alois VanBeek and Rev. Neil Zinthefer will concelebrate and burial will be Wednesday at St. Michael's Cemetery, St. Michael. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3 p.m. until time of church service.

Memorials are appreciated to St. Matthew's Church or the St. Francis Home.

Salvator Ciolino
Salvator Ciolino, 87, of West Bend, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2001 at his residence.

He was born on March 9, 1914 in Milwaukee to the late Anthony and Vicenzina Ciolino. In 1964 he moved to West Bend after barbering in Milwaukee for many years. He continued barbering in West Bend, operating Sal's Barber Shop until retiring in 1979. He married Mary Alexander on Sept. 23, 1988 in West Bend.

Salvator was also a member of the Florentine Opera Company for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Alexander; a daughter, Suzanne (Blaine) Zagar of West Bend; a granddaughter, Lisa (Doug) Hall of West Bend; a great granddaughter, Kaitlyn Hall; four step-children Robert (Sally) Alexander of Waukesha, Pamela (Ken) Zettelmeier of Waukesha, John (Cindy) Alexander of Carbondale, Ill., and David (Dagmar) Alexander of Carbondale, Ill.; five step-grandchildren, Christopher Zettelmeier, Kenneth Zettelmeier, Paige Alexander, Robert Alexander and Lindsey Alexander; four step-great grandchildren, Gage Zettelmeier, Turner Zettelmeier, Alexis Zettelmeier and Brooke Alexander; and other friends and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Ciolino, and three sisters, Frances DiBlasi, Regina Pagac and Sara Gorke.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Nov. 26 at 7 p.m. at Myrhum-Patten Funeral & Cremation Service, West Bend. Mother Martha Berger of St. James Episcopal Church, West Bend will officiate and burial will be on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 4 p.m. until the time of services. Memorials to the Visiting Nurses Association of Wisconsin Hospice or the American Cancer Society are appreciated.

Milton R. Kurth
Milton R. Kurth, 88, of West Bend, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, at St. Joseph's Community Hospital.

He was born Aug. 20, 1913, in Cedarburg, to the late Henry and Augusta (Lenhardt) Kurth, and married Walburga A. "Wallie" Oelhafen on June 26, 1943, at St. John's Lutheran Church, West Bend.

After their marriage the couple farmed in the town of Barton for over 46 years, retiring in 1989.

Milton enjoyed gardening in his later years.

Survivors include his wife; four children, Dennis (Peggy) of the town of Barton, Lynn (Henry) Thill of the town of Trenton, David (Nancy) of Tygard, Ore. and Robert of Florida; seven grandchildren, Ryan (Connie) Kurth, Aaron Kurth, Kristen Kurth, Jeremy (Jenny) Thill, Michael Thill, Eric (Latrice) Kurth and Tige Kurth; two great-grandchildren, Ethan and Braxton Kurth; two sisters-in-law, Rose Kurth of Cedarburg and Minnie Justman of West Bend; a brother-in-law, Ruben Kind of West Bend; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were four sisters and two brothers.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of West Bend.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 28, at 7:30 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home, West Bend.

Rev. Victor C. Hackbarth will officiate, and entombment will be in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend, at 10 a.m. on Thursday.

Visitation at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 4 to 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are appreciated.
