Helen G. Fischer
MAYVILLE - Helen G. Fischer, 83, of 802 Bridge St., Mayville, died on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at her home.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 29, at 1 p.m., at St. Mary Catholic Church, Mayville. The Rev. Charles Wester will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary cemetery, Mayville. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Mayville American Legion Post 69.

Mrs. Fischer was born on Aug. 7, 1918, in Knowles, the daughter of Baltas P. and Helen (Moser) Serwe. She was married on Oct. 24, 1944, to Franklyn W. Fischer in Washington, D.C.

Mrs. Fischer was a 1935 graduate of Mayville High School. She was a devoted wife and mother and she enjoyed attending her children's many sporting and academic activities. She also enjoyed playing sheepshead and watching Packers games. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Mayville, a former member of St. Mary Ladies Sodality, past co-chairman of St. Mary Fall Festival, was a former member of the Mayville American Legion Post 69, and was a Mayville Election Board official. She was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy WAVES as a store keeper, second class petty officer. She is listed at the Woman's War Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Survivors include her husband, Franklyn Fischer, Mayville; four daughters, JoAnn (Jim Crawford) Fischer, Silver City, N.M., Lynne (Charles Norcross III) Fischer, Oak Park, Ill., Kay Coddens, Los Alamos, N.M., and Mary Ann (Walt) Woernle, Tarpon Springs, Fla.; five sons, Ed Fischer, Mayville, Bob (Jane) Fischer, Embudo, N.M., Tom (Sharon Hintz) Fischer, Mayville, Steve (Diane) Fischer, Waupun, and John (Renee Bonack) Fischer, Mayville; two sisters, Margaret "Mugs" (Tom) Zahringer, Sherwood, and Patsy (Leo) Stoffel, West Bend; five grandchildren, Justin, Raina, Stephanie, Dylan and Brad; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Phyllis, Virginia "Ginna" and Eleanor "Dolly"; one son, Richard, and one daughter-in-law, Kathy.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Jan. 29, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at St. Mary Catholic Church, Mayville.

Memorials may be made to the family.

Helen was cared for by her son, Ed, for a number of years. A special thanks to Allan II and Joan Metzger.

Herman Jansma
Herman "Herm" Jansma, 77, of Beaver Dam, died peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at his home with his wife and family by his side.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 29, at 11 a.m., at the Waupun Assembly of God Church, Waupun. The Rev. Jeff Casper will officiate. Burial will be in Friesland cemetery.

Mr. Jansma was born on May 1, 1924, in Green Lake County, the son of Joe and Nellie (Kloostra) Jansma. He was married on Aug. 15, 1956, to Angeline Posthuma in East Friesland.

Mr. Jansma was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He farmed in the area for many years, then worked for Mercury Marine, Fond du Lac, for 26 years, until he was forced to retire due to health problems. His greatest joys in life were his faith and his family. His love and contentment in Christ was very evident. His kindness, compassion and inner strength were apparent to all who knew him. As a husband, father and grandfather he could not contain his love and pride. He relished their every accomplishment and always let them know how proud he was of them. He filled his time by growing the most beautiful flowers, which was his way of showing love to each person who came to visit.

Mr. Jansma also lavished his love and affection on his pomeranians that he raised for years, and his cockatiel, "Chuck." He will always be remembered for his constant affirmation of his love for us by saying his famous words "I love you," and his constant open praise to Jesus, who is his Lord and Savior. This is where we, his family, will take comfort in knowing that he is at home with Jesus. We will forever keep our memories of him close to our heart. We look forward to the day when we will be with him again in heaven.

Survivors include his beautiful wife of 45 years and best friend, Angie Jansma; five sons, Joseph (Joyce) Jansma, Daniel Jansma, both of Randolph, David Jansma, Beaver Dam, Thomas (Mary) Jansma, Cambria, and Carl (Lorrie) Jansma, Markesan; three daughters, Kathleen (fiance Roger Blatz) Jansma, Beaver Dam, Kristine (Bill) Redman, Waupun, and Lisa (fiance Jerome Lund) Jansma, Beaver Dam; five grandchildren, Jason, Amanda, Danielle, Adam and Kyle; two sisters, Cora Hoffman, Randolph, and Emily (Norman) Froelich, Cambria; one brother, Carl (Jane) Jansma, Cambria; nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and foster children whom he loved like his own.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Cora, in infancy, Tina and Jenny, and a close friend of the family, William, who was like his own son.

Friends may call on Monday, Jan. 28, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Randolph Community Funeral Home, Randolph, and on Tuesday, Jan. 29, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the Waupun Assembly of God Church.

With Herman's love for music, memorials will go to the church choir, of which he was a very active member.

Harold Zentarski
RANDOLPH - Harold "Cy" Zentarski, 78, of Randolph, died on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, at Meriter Hospital, Madison.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, Jan. 31, at 11 a.m., at the Annunciation Catholic Parish, Fox Lake. The Rev. Michael Wild will officiate. Burial will be in the Annunciation Catholic cemetery, Randolph.

Mr. Zentarski was born on Aug. 19, 1923, in Joliet, Ill., the son of Joseph and Louise (Roder) Zentarski. He was married on Sept. 25, 1943, to Ellen "Lynn" Miller in Joliet, Ill.

Mr. Zentarski was formerly employed with Metalfab, Beaver Dam, for 19 years. He and his wife formerly owned and operated Cy's Beer and Liquor, Randolph, for 12 years, and were members of the Wisconsin Tavern League. He was a member of the Annunciation Catholic Parish (St. Gabriel's). He was an avid golfer, a member of the Fox Lake Country Club for a number of years, and a member of the Randolph Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed woodworking and traveling, but mostly he loved to have family around.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Ellen "Lynn" Zentarski, Randolph; five children, Barbara (John) Bubolz, Fox Lake, Vikki (Ronn) Sauer, Beaver Dam, Terri (Cal) Vande Kolk, Ripon, Joseph (Nanette) Zentarski, and Michelle (David) Retzlaff, both of Randolph; 17 grandchildren, David (Kim), Paul (Karla), and Michael (Julaine) Bubolz, Eric, Kristopher, and Anthony (Alison) Sauer, Marla (fiance Will Pearce) De Young, Mark (Angela) De Young, Paula (Scott) Draves, Todd Vande Kolk, Andrea Vande Kolk, Zachary, Danielle, and Brianna Zentarski, Jacqueline, Courtney, and Aaron Retzlaff; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, William (Leona) Fredericks, Coos Bay, Ore., and James (Emma) Zentarski, Fountain Valley, Calif.; one sister, Shirley (Fred) Albright, Reed Springs, Mo.; very special friends, Bebe (Louie) Vander Werff; nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and Snuggles.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Travis Retzlaff; one great-grandson, Alex Bubolz; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert (Berniel) Zentarski, and his father-in-law, Roy Miller.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Jan. 30, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Randolph Community Funeral Home, and on Thursday, Jan. 31, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the Annunciation Catholic Parish, Fox Lake.

A memorial is being established for cardiac and oncology research at Meriter Hospital, Madison.

Laura A. Derr
RANDOLPH - Laura A. Derr, 93, formerly of Columbus, died on Monday, Jan. 28, 2002, at Continental Manor, Randolph.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, Jan. 31, at 11:30 a.m., at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Columbus. The Rev. Bruce Hennington will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery, East Bristol.

Mrs. Derr was born on Sept. 24, 1908, in the town of Bristol, the daughter of Fred and Mary (Bennesh) Schmitt. She was married on Nov. 24, 1926, to Oscar Derr in Sun Prairie.

Mrs. Derr was formerly employed at Columbus Community Hospital and Columbus Garment. She was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church, Columbus, and its Altar Society, and a member of the Columbus Senior Center.

Survivors include one daughter, Marian Jesberger, Sun Prairie; two sons, Jerome Derr, Columbus, and Robert Derr, Madison; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Evelyn Swatek, Fort Atkinson; two brothers, Paul (Dorothy) Schmitt, Palmyra, Va., and Elmer (Irene) Schmitt, Sun Prairie; one brother-in-law, Matt Suchomel, Sun Prairie; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar; one daughter, Agnes, in infancy; two brothers, Edwin and Albert; two sisters, Florence Moy and Cecelia Suchomel; one son-in-law, Reinold Jesberger; one daughter-in-law, Ione Derr; one sister-in-law, Genevieve Schmitt, and one great-grandson, Scott Lewis.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Jan. 30, from 5 to 8 p.m., with a rosary service at 7:30 p.m., at the Jones-Jensen Funeral Home, Columbus, and on Thursday, Jan. 31, from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Columbus.

Memorials may be made to the St. Jerome Endowment Fund or the charity of one's choice.

Margaret Campnell Tessmann
RANDOLPH - Margaret "Sally" Campnell Tessmann, 90, of 502 High St., Randolph, died on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, at Continental Manor, Randolph.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 30, at 11 a.m., at Frieden's Ev. Lutheran Church, Randolph. The Rev. Walter Goers Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Randolph cemetery.

Mrs. Tessmann was born on Aug. 26, 1911, in the town of Springvale, the daughter of John and Loretta (Heanski) Slinger. She was married on June 22, 1968, to Gerhardt Tessmann in Randolph.

Mrs. Tessmann was a member of Frieden's Ev. Lutheran Church, Randolph. She was an avid card player and she also enjoyed crocheting and knitting.

Survivors include three children, Jack (Myrlen) Campnell, Randolph, George (Marlene) Campnell, St. Petersburg, Fla., and Garner (Edwina) Campnell, Beaver Dam; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; two brothers, Frank (Mary Frances) Slinger, Columbus, and Riley Slinger, Cambria; two sisters, Jennie Mae (Maurice) Jones, Cambria, and Dolly (Ellis) Foulkes, Fall River; seven sisters-in-law; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bud Campnell, on May 15, 1966; one son, Delbert Campnell Jr., in 1978; one grandson, Joseph Campnell, on April 5, 1965; her second husband, Gerhardt Tessmann; eight brothers, Robert, David, Jack, Temp, Chester, Joseph, Delburne, and William Slinger, and one sister, Sylvia Rhode.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Jan. 30, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at Frieden's Ev. Lutheran Church, Randolph.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to spinabifida research.

The Randolph Community Funeral Home, is serving the family.

Robert C. Simonis
Robert "Bob" C. Simonis, 77, of Beaver Dam, died peacefully on Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at his home after a long and courageous battle with heart disease. He was a cancer survivor.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, Feb. 1, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Daniel Massie will officiate. Burial will be in St. Patrick's cemetery, Beaver Dam. Graveside military rites will be conducted.

Mr. Simonis was born on May 30, 1924, in the town of Alban, Portage County, the son of Fredrick and Florence (Mozzella) Simonis. He was married on June 28, 1952, to Jeanette Marcouiller at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Niagara.

Mr. Simonis was a veteran of World War II, serving from April 1943 to February 1946, in the U.S. Navy on the USS Tulagi. He was a signalman third class. He served in the European, African, Middle East and Asiatic-Pacific Theaters. He returned to the Tigerton area after the war and later moved to Milwaukee, where he met his future wife.

Mr. Simonis was a partner in Beaver Specialties Inc. He operated the business from its inception in 1956 until its sale in 1992.

Mr. Simonis was an avid outdoorsman and shared his love of the outdoors with his children. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and snowmobiling with his family. He spent many summer weeks at Hamilton Lakes, teaching his children, and nieces and nephews to water ski and fish. He was a lifetime member of the Beaver Dam Conservation Club, Ducks Unlimited, and the NRA. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a parishioner at St. Patrick's Catholic Church since moving to Beaver Dam in 1956.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Jeanette Simonis, Beaver Dam; two daughters, Cheryl S. (Robert) Connell, Newport, Ore., and Mary Beth Nowicki, Beaver Dam; three sons, Mark A. Simonis, Appleton, Jeffrey J. (Colleen) Simonis, Snellville, Ga., and Christopher H. Simonis, Beaver Dam; five beloved grandsons, Sean R. Connell, Nicholas J. Nowicki, Kyle R. Simonis, Lucas J. Nowicki, and Colin D. Simonis; one beloved granddaughter, Lindsey A. Nowicki; one brother, Willard Simonis, Beaver Dam; two sisters, Esther Groshek, Stevens Point, and Virginia (Jerome) Merkel, Waukegan, Ill.; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Fredrick; his mother, Florence; three sisters, Caroline Peske, Theresa Omernik, and Winifred Guyant, and two brothers, Herman and Arnold.

Friends may call on Thursday, Jan. 31, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, and on Friday, Feb. 1, from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

Memorials may be made to United Catholic Parish Schools, Beaver Dam, or the Beaver Dam Conservation Club.

He is greatly, greatly missed by his family.

Francis L. Kirscht
Francis L. Kirscht, 75, of 134 Prospect Ave., Beaver Dam, died on Monday, Jan. 28, 2002, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, Jan. 31, at 7:30 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Kenneth Spence will officiate. Burial will be on Friday, Feb. 1, at 10 a.m., in Highland Memory Gardens, town of Trenton. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Beaver Dam American Legion Post 146.

Mr. Kirscht was born on Feb. 12, 1926, in Hopkins, Minn., the son of Frank and Monica (Georges) Kirscht. He was married on July 1, 1950, to Doris Schmidt at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.

Mr. Kirscht was a graduate of Beaver Dam High School. He was employed with Kraft Foods for 37 years. He served his country in the U.S. Army for two years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Kirscht, Beaver Dam; one daughter, Cynthia (David) Kohl, Muskego; one son, John (Karen) Kirscht, Eau Claire; one sister, Audrey Lauth, Beaver Dam; one sister-in-law, Verona Wendt, Beaver Dam; two grandchildren, Steve and Lindsey Kohl; one step-great-grandchild, Dustin; two nephews, Allan (Judy) Lauth, Beaver Dam, and Jim (Cindy) Wendt, Colorado; relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers-in-law, Arnold Lauth and Gerald Wendt.

Friends may call on Thursday, Jan. 31, from 5 p.m. until the time of service at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam.

Harold R. Knierim
JUNEAU - Harold "Jim" R. Knierim, 78, of Juneau, died on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002.

The funeral will be held on Friday, Feb. 1, at 2 p.m., at Wisconsin Memorial Park Family Center, 12875 W. Capitol Drive, Brookfield.

Survivors include his wife, Arlean (nee Marks) Knierim; three daughters, Karen (Stephen) Heinecke, Patty (Mike) Reed, and Debbe (Tom) Kannass; one son, John (Cindy) Knierim; two stepsons, David (Karen) Freber, and Larry (Marion) Freber; one brother, Art (Margaret) Knierim; one sister, Sue Diehlmann; one sister-in-law, Sylvia Morrison; one brother-in-law, Jerry (Donna) Marks; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Friends may call on Friday, Feb. 1, from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service at Wisconsin Memorial Park Family Center, Brookfield.

Agatha Haima
WAUPUN - Agatha Haima, 92, of Waupun, died on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, at Waupun Memorial Hospital.

The funeral is pending with the Kohls Community Funeral Home, Waupun.

Mary T. Wetlaufer
RIO - Mary T. Wetlaufer, 75, died on Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at her home in Rio.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Union Congregational Church, Rio, at 1 p.m. The Rev. William Thomas Howie will officiate. A luncheon will follow the memorial service at the church.

The Vangen Funeral Home, Rio, is serving the family.

Edward G. Masche
WISCONSIN RAPIDS Ð Edward G. Masche, 56, of 1811 Griffith Ave., Wisconsin Rapids, died on Saturday, June 29, 2002, at Riverview Hospital, Wisconsin Rapids.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 2, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Wisconsin Rapids. The Rev. Martin Baur will officiate. Burial will be in Lowell cemetery.

Mr. Masche was born on Jan. 30, 1946, in Hartford, the son of Edward and Vitalis (Strum) Masche. He was married on Oct. 28, 1967, to Lois L. Poetter in Beaver Dam.

Mr. Masche was employed with John Deere Horicon Works. He served in the U.S. National Guard from 1963 to 1969. In February 1997 he was the recipient of a heart transplant.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Masche, Wisconsin Rapids; three children, Michael (Stephanie) Masche, Mark (Anna) Masche, both of Beaver Dam, and Matthew Masche, Stevens Point; two brothers, David (Lora) Masche, Volcano, Calif, and James (Barbara) Masche, Nekoosa; four sisters, Susan O'Rourke, Washington, D.C., Linda (Pete) Kozup, Waupun, Sandy (Ron) Anderson, Markesan, and Cindy (Jeff) Brozek, Beaver Dam; six grandchildren, Nathan, Nichole, Miranda, Trevor, Jennifer, and Jordan; relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Daniel and Steven.

Friends may call on Tuesday, July 2, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Wisconsin Rapids.

The Ritchay Funeral Home, Wisconsin Rapids, is serving the family.
