Iris Klapper
WAUPUN - Iris Klapper, 71, of Waupun, died on Saturday, April 26, 2003, at the University Hospital, Madison, surrounded by her children.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 29, at10:30 a.m., at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Waupun. The Rev. Michael Moran will officiate. Burial will follow at Calvary cemetery, Waupun.

Iris was born on Oct. 25, 1931, in Markesan, the daughter of Frank and Bernice (Schwandt) Werth. She was married to Raymond Klapper on Sept. 10, 1952, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Waupun.

Iris and her husband farmed in the Waupun area their entire married life. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Waupun. She was a very loving and caring mother, grandmother and friends.

Survivors include four daughters, Linda (Terry) Schooley, Boseman, Mont., Faye (Steve) Austin, Waupun, Janet (Richard) Alio, Waupun, and Julie (fiance John Popp) Hager, Oshkosh; three sons, Dave (Selma) Klapper, and Steve (Carla) Klapper, both of Waupun, and Mark Klapper, Boseman, Mont.; 13 grandchildren; two brothers, Kenneth (Arlene) Werth, Markesan, and Karl (Edna) Werth, Buhl, Idaho, and one sister-in-law, Jean Werth, Loveland, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; one brother, Kelvin, and her parents.

Friends may call on Monday, April 28, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun, with a Rosary service to be held at 7:30 p.m.

Bernard J. Dylak
Bernard J. "Bernie" Dylak, 88, of Beaver Dam, formerly of Randolph, died on Sunday, April 27, 2003, at the Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, May 3, at 11 a.m., at Annunciation Catholic Parish, 305 Green St., Fox Lake. The Rev. Michael L. Wild will officiate. Burial will be in Annunciation cemetery, Lost Lake, with full military honors by the Randolph VFW 9510.

Bernie was born on Aug. 19, 1914, in Dancy, Wis., the son of John and Mary (Matuga) Dylak. He was married to Sophie Nencki on Aug. 30, 1941, in Milwaukee.

Bernie served his country with the U.S. Army during World War II with the 320th Engineer Battalion. In the early 1930s, he moved to the Milwaukee area where he was formerly employed with the city of Milwaukee as a master auto mechanic and formerly employed with Lubosky and Rank and Sons as a master auto mechanic. Following his retirement in 1974, he farmed in the Randolph and Lost Lake areas. He was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church, Fox Lake, and a member of the Randolph VFW Post 9510. He was an avid gardener.

Survivors include eight children, Daniel (Elizabeth) Dylak, Mequon, Teresa (Keith) Roberts, Thiensville, Melvin Dylak, Palm Springs, Calif., Gerard (Teri) Dylak, Port Washington, Monica (Stanley) Guokas, Port Washington, Lawrence (Angela) Dylak, Randolph, Loretta (Jerry) Carlin, Randolph, and Thomas (Lori) Dylak, Beaver Dam; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Walter Dylak, St. Francis; one sister, Helen Grzesiak, Mosinee; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sophie on May 18, 1993; his parents, and two sisters, Mary Netzel and Alice Kopinski.

Friends may call on Friday, May 2, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Randolph Community Funeral Home, with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m., and on Saturday, May 3, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at Annunciation Catholic Parish, Fox Lake.

The Randolph Community Funeral Home, Randolph, is serving the family.

Donovan S. Slager
EAST FRIESLAND - Donovan S. "Don" Slager, 61, of East Friesland, died on Monday, April 28, 2003, at University Hospital, Madison.

The funeral will be held on Friday, May 2, at 11 a.m., at the First Reformed Church of Friesland, 107 E. Winnebago St., Friesland. The Rev. Ronald Van Der Werff will officiate. Burial will be in Friesland cemetery.

Don was born on Oct. 4, 1941, in the town of Randolph, Columbia County, the son of George and Gertrude (Katsma) Slager. He was married to Helen J. Elgersma on Jan. 11, 1961, at the home of Helen's parents in Cambria.

Don had a great love for his family, especially his grandchildren. He was employed at the Rumar Manufacturing Corp. of Mayville, for the past 10 years. He was a member of the First Reformed Church of Friesland where he was serving as elder, and taught Sunday school. He sang bass as a member of the Friesland Male Chorus. He was also an avid gardener, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Helen; four children, Richard (Dawn) Slager, Fond du Lac, Kari Slager, Waupun, Gregory (Stephanie) Slager, East Friesland, and Kimberly Slager and special friend Jamie Herwig, Markesan; five grandchildren, Sadie, Tanner, Ella and Ayden Slager and Clareese Kono; three sisters, Harriet (Ronald) Hoffman, Markesan, Sandee (Gary) Bossenbroeck, Waupun, and Cyndee Slager, Randolph; three brothers, Larry (Dianne) Slager, Calvin (Lorna) Slager, both of Randolph, and Sherwood (Geri) Slager, Portage; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Rochelle in 1963, and his parents.

Friends may call on Thursday, May 1, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Randolph Community Funeral Home, and on Friday, May 2, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the First Reformed Church of Friesland.

A memorial fund is being established in Don's name.

John "JT" Tadych
John Tadych, 58, of 407 Sarah Lane, Beaver Dam, died on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, at UW-Hospital, Madison.

The funeral will be held on Monday, Feb. 3, at 11 a.m. at the Koepsell Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. The Rev. Paul Lindau will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, town of Trenton.

Mr. Tadych was born on Dec. 18, 1944 in Beaver Dam, the son of Alois and Coletta (Hammer) Tadych. He was married to Laurel M. Simon-Nickel on July 16, 1999 in Beaver Dam.

Mr. Tadych was a 1963 graduate of Beaver Dam High School. He was first employed at Stokely's and then at John Deere of Horicon for many years, retiring in 2000 due to health reasons.

He served his country in the U.S. Army with duty overseas. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, camping and playing cards. He also enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Laurel M. Tadych of Beaver Dam; four children, Leslie (Roger) Walter, Patricia (Paul) Shute, John (Tammy) Nickel and Rita (Tom) Schwartz, all of Beaver Dam; his mother, Coletta Rake of Beaver Dam; sisters Marion Crook, Beaver Dam, and Annette (Chuck) Sustman, Beaver Dam; brother William (Sherry) Rake, Beaver Dam; two brothers-in-law, Robert Huettner, Beaver Dam, and Richard Crook, Beaver Dam. He is also survived by eight granchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tamara Jo "TJ," father Alois Tadych, step-father Henry Rake and sister Francis Huettner.

Friends may call on Sunday, Feb. 2, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Koepsell Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, and on Monday, Feb. 3, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the Koepsell Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association and First Responders at John Deere.

Theodore A. Elsinger

Theodore A. Elsinger, 76, Brownsville, died on Friday, Jan. 31, 2003 at Hospice Home of Hope, Fond du Lac.
The funeral will be held on Monday, Feb. 3 at Koepsell Funeral Home in Mayville at 1 p.m. The Rev. Charles Wester will officiate. Burial will be in St. Andrew cemetery in LeRoy.

Mr. Elsinger was born in the town of LeRoy on March 2, 1926, the son of Wolfgang and Anna (Zangl) Elsinger.

Mr. Elsinger farmed in the town of LeRoy. He was a former member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in LeRoy.

He is survived by his sisters and brothers Erna Baierl, Fond du Lac; Marie Roberts, Fond du Lac; Raymond (friend Marie Sauer) Elsinger, Lomira; Elsie (Eugene) McCrory, Fond du Lac; Florence McCrory, Fond du Lac; sister-in-law Lavina Elsinger, Fond du Lac; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Arthur and Norbert; one sister, Josephine Riese.

Friends may call on Sunday, Feb. 2 at the Koepsell Funeral Home in Mayville from 3 to 5 p.m. and on Monday, Feb. 3 at Koepsell Funeral Home from noon to 1 p.m.

Gertrude J. Alsum
Gertrude J. Alsum, 91, Randolph, died on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, at Continental Manor where she resided the past three years.

The funeral will be on Monday, Feb. 3 at 11 a.m. at the Randolph Protestant Reformed Church, 229 Hammond St., Randolph. The Rev. Douglas Kuiper will officiate. Burial will be in the Friesland cemetery.

Mrs. Alsum was born Jan. 12, 1912 in Alto, the daughter of Walter and Jennie (Van Kullun) Tobak. She was married to Dewey Alsum on March 6, 1941 in Waupun.

Gertrude was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and she will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Gert was known for her gentle demeanor, compassion and kindness. She was a homemaker most of her life . She was a charter member of the Randolph Protestant Reformed Church and a member of the Ladies Society at the church.

She is survived by six children: Milton (Joyce) Alsum of Loveland, Colo.; Judy Abel of Randolph; Jackie (Bob) Hoekstra, Waupun; Marilyn (Archie) Quade of Randolph; Duane (Sandy) Alsum of Delanson, N.Y.; Ron Alsum of Friesland; 25 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dewey Alsum on Dec. 4, 1989; four brothers Herman, John, Jake and Bill Tobak; three sisters, Jennie Cupery, Minnie Tobak; Johanna Cupery and her parents.

Friends may call on Sunday, Feb. 2 at the Randolph Community Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Monday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Memorials may be made to the Faith Christian School of Randolph.

Benjamin Aaron Neevel
Benjamin Aaron Neevel went to be with his Lord Jesus on Jan. 30, 2003. Since Feb. 23, 2002, Benjamin has been surrounded in love by his family. Mother and father, Janis and Brian, will miss your smile and love. Brother Zachary will miss the joy of his little brother. Sister Breanna will miss the baby she loves. Sister Amber will miss her little, crawling, giggly playmate.

Benjamin will be missed by his Grandmother, Victoria Schleicher, Grandfather Fred and Grandmother Teddi Neevel; Grandmother Beverly Noel; and Great-Grandmother, Bonita Nitke. He has joined in death his Grandfather, Clarence Schleicher. Benjamin will be missed by all whose lives he touched. Come celebrate the joy given to us.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church in Wisconsin Rapids with Rev. Jonathan Jenks officiating. Graveside service will be held at Pioneer cemetery, then a meal together at Calvary Baptist Church.

Friends may call at Calvary Baptist Church on Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the services.

Evelyn L. Wesener
MAYVILLE - Evelyn L. Wesener, 82, formerly of N9537 Highway Y, Mayville, died on Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, at Hope Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Lomira.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 1 p.m., at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville. The Rev. Edward Blonski will officiate. Burial will be in Kekoskee cemetery.

Evelyn was born on Nov. 20, 1920, in Kewaskum, the daughter of Louis and Olga (Rheingans) Foerster. She was married to Rubin Wesener on Nov. 14, 1942, in Kekoskee.

Evelyn, together with her husband, farmed in the town of Williamstown. She was a member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville.

Survivors include three daughters, Audrey (Armin) Reichow, Juneau, Harriet (special friends David Bruch) Buchholz, Iron Ridge, and Evon (Wayne) Schultz, Mayville; two sons, Rodger (Diann) Wesener, Hartford, and Ronald (Connie) Wesener, Mayville; two sisters, Margie (Harvey) Janssen, Kewaskum, and Celeste (Marvin) Kuehl, West Bend; three sisters-in-law, Gertha Reabe, Lomira, Edna Belling, West Bend, and Florence Foerster, Watertown; one brother-in-law, Carl E. Wesener, Mayville; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1993; one son-in-law, Herman in 1991; two brothers, Roman and Louis, and one sister, Ruth.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Feb. 4, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville.

Sharon K. Mulder
RIPON - Sharon Kay Mulder, 48, of Sheltered Village, Ripon, was released from her earthly handicaps and was received into the Lord's hands on Friday, Jan. 31, 2003.

The funeral was held on Monday, Feb. 3, at 10:30 a.m., at the Alto Christian Reformed Church, Alto. The Rev. Forsell Gappa officiated. Burial was in Highland Memory Gardens, Trenton.

Sharon was born on Oct. 12, 1954, in Waupun, the daughter of Junior and Georgene (Greenfield) Mulder.

Sharon was a member of the Alto Christian Reformed Church, Alto.

Survivors include her parents, Junior and Georgene Mulder; four brothers, Gary (Terri) Mulder, North Fond du Lac, Randy (Kathy) Mulder, Brandon, Timothy Mulder, Oshkosh, and James Mulder, Waupun; one sister, Sandy Mulder-Larson, Middleton; nine nieces and nephews; one great-niece; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Friends called on Sunday, Feb. 2, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun, and on Monday, Feb. 3, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the Alto Christian Reformed Church.

Elda A. Taylor
MAYVILLE - Elda Alma Taylor, 79, formerly of Hustisford, died on Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, at the Mayville Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center after a lingering illness.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 11 a.m., at Bethany Lutheran Church, Hustisford. The Rev. Tim Bauer will officiate. Burial will be in Hustisford City cemetery.

Elda was born on Oct. 18, 1923, in Hustisford, the daughter of August and Bertha (Grulke) Luedke. She was married to Rollin Taylor on Oct. 26, 1946, in Watertown. She was the last member of her immediate family.

Elda was a homemaker. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Hustisford.

Survivors include two nieces, Wanda Otto and Marjorie Zastrow, both of Watertown; two nephews, Kenneth (Judy) Schwantes and Ronald (Mitzi) Schwantes, both of Watertown.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rollin on Nov. 21, 1996; one son, Neal; one brother, Obi, and four sisters, Alma, Edna, Nora and Amelda.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Feb. 5, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at Bethany Lutheran Church, Hustisford.

Memorials may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church.
