Glen H. Rohde
HORICON - Glen H. "Pee Wee" Rohde, 80, of Horicon, died on Sunday, May 18, 2003 at his home.

Cremation will take place.

Glen was born Aug. 16, 1922, in Dalton, the son of Henry and Francis (Potter) Rohde. He was married to Marvis Malone on Oct. 27, 1950, in Baraboo.

Mr. Rohde lived in Dalton for a number of years before moving to Baraboo where he lived for six years. He and Marvis moved to Theresa, living there for 19 years. After retiring from L.E. Myers in 1978, where he had been employed for 28 years. The family moved to Horicon. He was a corporal in the U.S. Army during W.W.II serving in the European African Middle Eastern Theater of Operations. He was awarded two bronze stars. He enjoyed playing his mandolin and harmonica, while sitting in his favorite chair, watching the squirrels and birds, that he always fed. "Pee Wee" also enjoyed car racing and playing cards with his family. He died peacefully at home after enduring a courageous battle with cancer.

Survivors include his wife, Marvis, Horicon; three sons, James (Cheryl) Rohde, Slinger, Mike (Elaine) Rohde, Mayville, John (Laura) Rohde, Beaver Dam; four daughters, Glenna Rohde, Horicon, Margy (special friend, Bob Pagenkopf) Rohde, Horicon, Karen (Sherwin Jr.) Fischer, Mayville, Christine (fiancé, Timothy Neitzel) Rohde, Reesville; 22 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; three brothers, Paul Rohde, Baraboo, Harold (Audrey) Rohde, Iron Rivers, Mich., Merle (Betty) Rohde, Accola, Fla.; two sisters, Vera Cook, Baraboo, Margy (Bob) Corough, Baraboo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Samuel.

Friends and relatives may join in the celebration of Glen's life on Saturday, May 24, beginning at 1 p.m. at the family home, 809 Minerva St., Horicon.

The family wishes to extend a thank you to Laura, John and Glenna for all their help and support. Also included are Dr. Philip Keller and staff, Dr. H. L. Pendergast, Dr. H. Wang, Chris from the Cancer Center, the staff at Agnesian Hospice Care and Marshland Pharmacy.

I'm at peace now, hugging my grandson.

Milan Lemke
WAUPUN - Milan Lemke, 77, of Waupun, died on Saturday, May 17, 2003, at the Christian Home in Waupun.

Funeral services for Milan Lemke will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Union Congregational Church in Waupun with Rev. Michael Bausch officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Mound cemetery in Waupun where American Legion Post 210 will provide military honors.

Milan was born on Feb. 28, 1926, in LaCrosse, the son of Arthur and Mabel (Themke) Lemke. He was married to Evelyn Vande Zande on March 26, 1949, in Waupun.

Milan was a 1944 Waupun High School gradate. Milan and his wife resided in Waupun all of their married life. He was employed by Wisconsin State Prison in Waupun for 31 years as a corrections officer and retired in 1981. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines having served during W.W.II in the South Pacific and was reactivated during the Korean War. He was a member of the Union-Congregational Church in Waupun, VFW Post 6709, and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan.

Survivors include his wife Evelyn, Waupun; a daughter, Lana (Terry) Meyer, Waupun; two sons, Mark Lemke, Mohave Valley, Ariz., Robert Lemke and his friend Liz Young of Chandler, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Tim (Debbie) Meyer, Martha Meyer, Kristine Lemke and Cori Lemke; a great-grandson Alex Meyer; his mother Mabel Lemke, Waupun.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Friends and relatives may call at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. and Wednesday at church from 10 until the hour of the service.

Harold Bushke
KING - Harold Bushke, 79, of King, and formerly of Beaver Dam, died on Thursday, May 15, 2003, at the Wisconsin Veteran's Home, King.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 17, from 3 to 4:30 p.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam. Military honors will be conducted by the Lowell VFW at 4:30 p.m. Cremation will follow.

Harold was born on April 4, 1924, in Beaver Dam, the son of Elmer and Esther (Roder) Bushke. He was married to Marie Kurkowski on June 15, 1946, in Sommers.

Harold served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He lived in the Dodge County area most of his life. Along with his wife, Marie, he owned and operated several taverns in the area, until his retirement in 1986, then moved to Neshkoro. He was a member of the Lowell VFW.

Survivors include two daughters, Marelene (Gordon) St. Clair, Arizona, and Monica (John) Kurbiec, North Carolina; one son, Jeffery (Hyon) Bushke, Fairbanks, Alaska; one daughter-in-law, Jane Bushke, Arizona; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Marion (Lu) Petit, Florida; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marie, on March 20, 1988, and one son, James, on Sept. 8, 1979.

Friends may call on Saturday, May 17, from 3 to 4:30 p.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam.

Gerald A. Riege
Gerald A. Riege, 61, of 221 Roller Ave., Beaver Dam, died on Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at his home.

The funeral will be held on Friday, May 16, at 7 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Mark Swanson will officiate. Cremation will take place.

Gerald was born on Oct. 10, 1941, in Beaver Dam, the son of Arthur and Lillie (Bruesch) Riege.

Gerald served his country in the U.S. Army for two years.

Survivors include his mother, Lillie Riege, Beaver Dam; three children, Bruce Riege, Jackson, Todd (Michelle) Riege, Germantown, and Brenda Riege, Cedarburg; one brother, James (Kathy) Riege, Beaver Dam; one sister, Sandy (Rob) Fletcher, Sarona; nieces, nephews, other relatives and freinds.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1974.

Friends may call on Friday, May 16, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam.

John J. Kalous
WAUPUN - John J. Kalous, 93, formerly of Waupun, died on Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at Hillside Manor Nursing Home, Beaver Dam.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, May 17, at 11 a.m., at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Waupun. The Rev. Don Braun will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery, Waupun.

John was born on March 2, 1910, in Oshkosh, the son of the late Mathew and Lena (Macho) Kalous. He was married to Lucille Wolfe on July 13, 1935, in Oshkosh.

John and his wife lived most of their married life in Waupun, where he was a correctional officer at the Wisconsin State Prison, from which he retired in 1972 He also enjoyed his part-time job of painting in the Waupun area. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved gardening and spending time with his children. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Waupun.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille Kalous, Juneau; one daughter, Virginia (Douglas) Jones, Juneau; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Lawrence Kalous, Oshkosh, and one sister, Elizabeth Moses, Fond du Lac.

He was preceded in death by one son, John Matthew Kalous in August 1995, and three sisters.

Friends may call on Saturday, May 17, from 9 to 11 a.m., at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Waupun.

The Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun, is serving the family.

Mitchell B. Spence
COLUMBUS - Mitchell Bryan Spence, 38, of Columbus, died on Friday, May 2, 2003, at home after a difficult and courageous battle with bladder cancer.

Mitchell was born on Oct. 11, 1964, in Chicago, Ill.

Mitchell graduated in 1988 from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, with a degree in economics. During high school in Rochester, Minn., he met and became friends with Tracey Evans, a very special woman. They were married on Oct. 31, 1992, in St. Paul., Minn.

Prior to being disabled by cancer, he distinguished himself as a pharmaceutical representative for Sanofi-Synthelobo Inc. He was named to the President's Club for sales excellence numerous times in his career. He was a person who loved his family, friends and life. He was a kind-hearted person who always had a positive attitude and a smile on his face. He was a person that you could depend on. He enjoyed outdoor sports, cooking, camping and competing in triathlons. He also enjoyed spending time at the family home in Door County.

Survivors include his wife, Tracey; two children, Sydney and Grant; his parents, Gavin and Phylis Spence, Fond du Lac, and his maternal grandmother, Libbie Schuh, Fond du Lac.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Alfred Schuh.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Hillside Hospice, 709 S. University Ave., Beaver Dam, WI 53916.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2003, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Kestrel Ridge Golf Club, 900 Avalon Road, Columbus. Food and refreshments will be served.

Peter Demmerle Sr.
Peter "Snowbird" Demmerle Sr., 62, of Beaver Dam, died on Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at the VA Hospital, Madison.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, May 17, at 1 p.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam. A Masonic service will be held. Burial will be in Southern Wisconsin Veterans cemetery, Union Grove.

Peter was born on Dec. 24, 1940, in Gowanda, N.Y., the son of Charles and Vera (Bouchwin) Demmerle.

Peter served in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard. He lived in the Beaver Dam area since 1976. He was a former manager at Herter's in Beaver Dam. He was a Free and Accepted Mason of Beaver Dam. He was a member of the VFW Post 1163 and the American Legion Post 146, both of Beaver Dam. He was in the dart league for The Pub for over 10 years.

Survivors include three children, Caryn (Bill) Hack, Beaver Dam, Monica Demmerle, Fond du Lac, and Peter Demmerle Jr., Fond du Lac; six grandchildren, Faith, Hope, Jewels, Darrien, Stephen and Rhett; one brother, John Demmerle, New York; one sister, Jean Challenger, Virginia; a girlfriend, Donna Van Nocker, Beaver Dam, and her children, Joshua (Dawn) Van Nocker, Columbus, Katrina Van Nocker, Beaver Dam, Travis Van Nocker, Beaver Dam, and Jason Van Nocker, Beaver Dam; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Scott, on Feb. 17, 1994, and two grandchildren, Hannah and Christopher.

Friends may call on Saturday, May 17, from noon until the time of service at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam.

Memorials to the family are suggested.

Adelheid Pearson
Adelheid "Addie" Pearson, 75, formerly on 509 West St., Beaver Dam, died on Tuesday, May 13, 2003, at Hillside Manor, Beaver Dam.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, May 15, at 7 p.m., at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Rae Ann Bloomquist will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery, Beaver Dam.

Addie was born on Feb. 4, 1928, in Marquette County, the daughter of Gustav and Bertha (Fenske) Zuhlke. She was married to Robert W. Pearson on Oct. 7, 1950, in Markesan.

Addie was a 1945 graduate of Markesan High School. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam, where she taught Sunday school of over 30 years. She was a member of the church council and a longtime member of the Worship and Music Committee. For many years she had been the leading fundraiser for Beaver Dam's Crop Walk. She had been a seasonal employee at Green Giant. In her later years, she enjoyed being "Grandma Addie" at the YMCA Daycare Center. She was a resident of Hillside Manor since 1996, and while there she continued to live life to the fullest. She was a member and past president of the Resident Council, participated in the activities department, and made many friends among the staff and residents. Even in the face of the many health problems in her later years, she always maintained a positive and pleasant attitude, and was an inspiration to her family of friends.

Survivors include four sons, John Pearson, Roger Pearson, Daniel (Anne) Pearson, and Rob Pearson, all of Beaver Dam; five grandchildren, Sarah (Brian) Walker, El Paso, Texas, Noah and Hannah Pearson, Joshua Pearson, and Christopher Pearson, all of Beaver Dam; two great-grandchildren, Justin and Evelyn Walker; one brother, Henry Zuhlke, Portage; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert in 1991; her parents; one brother, Herman Zuhlke, and two sisters, Hilda Zuhlke and Arlene Branshaw.

Friends may call on Thursday, May 15, from 5 to 7 p.m., at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.

Memorials may be made to St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church or to Hillside Manor Activities Department.

Lester C. Marose
MAYVILLE - Lester C. Marose, 88, formerly of 540 N. Henninger St., Mayville, died on Monday, May 12, 2003, at the Mayville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 14, at 5 p.m., at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Kekoskee. The Rev. Dennis Bratz will officiate. Entombment will be in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Fond du Lac.

Lester was born on Feb. 4, 1915, in the town of Theresa, the son of William and Marie (Benzel) Marose. He was married to Verona Klemp on Oct. 5, 1935, in Mayville.

Lester was employed with Maysteel of Mayville. He was a member of St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Kekoskee. He played in the Les Marose Texas Rangers Band; played the electric organ, accordian, saxophone, piano, and a number of other instruments for many years.

Survivors include one aunt, Minnie Marose, Fond du Lac; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Verona, in 1997.

Friends may call on Wednesday, May 14, from 4 to 5 p.m., at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Kekoskee.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Peter’s Redecorating Fund or to the family’s choice.

The Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville, is serving the family.
