Ruth (Phipps) Tuschl
MANITOWOC - The Father has called his daughter, Ruth Helen Loraine Tuschl, home to His kingdom Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at age 80.

Ruth was born in Waukesha on Oct. 10, 1920, to William and Martha Phipps. She graduated from Waukesha High School in 1938. She moved to Menomonee Falls in 1956 and to Manitowoc in 1972. She married David D. Tibbets in 1938 who predeceased her.

She is survived by a son, David (Karen) Tibbets, and two granddaughters, Tanya and Tiffany Tibbets of Orlando, Fla. She is also survived by a sister, Virginia (Douglas) Ames of Brodhead and her family, as well as many friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, William, John and Richard, and her husband, Gordon Tuschl of Manitowoc.

At her request there was no funeral. Her ashes will be placed with those of her late husband, David, at Prairie Home cemetery in Waukesha.

A Life Graduation

On Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, my Mom graduated from this life. She lived 80 love-filled years, and is already deeply missed by everyone who knew her. Please take a moment, if you will, and speed her on her way with a loving thought and a prayer. She left behind her a wake of love that will, like lapping waves, continue for years to bless us with her memory.

Thank you, Father, for sharing her with us.

Gladys G. Zimmerman
WAUKESHA - Gladys G. Zimmerman of Waukesha died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at age 87.

She was born July 30, 1913, in Amboy, Ill., the daughter of Charles and Lena (nee Hertzfeld) Atkinson. She is a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in New Berlin. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, William John Zimmerman.

Gladys will be sadly missed by her children, William (Reene) Zimmerman of Fort Worth, Texas, Gerald (Maureen) Zimmerman of Waukesha, Carol Wachter of Pendleton, Ore., Ruth (James) Imhoff of Waukesha and Jane (Allan) Ansorge of Sussex; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Gladys is also survived by her four sisters, Verna (Ernest) Zimmerman of Waukesha, Pearl Zimmerman of Columbus, Rose Tannis of New Berlin and Virginia Tannis of Pewaukee; and other relatives and friends.

A memorial service for Gladys will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd. The Rev. Claudio Consuegra of the Seventh Day Adventist Church will be the officiant. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until the time of the funeral service Wednesday, Dec. 6. Burial will take place in Prairie Home cemetery in Waukesha.

Helen A. Gonia
WAUKESHA - Helen A. Gonia (nee Opat), of Waukesha, formerly of Bay View, was born to eternal life on Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, at age 90.

Helen was the beloved wife of the late Peter M. Gonia. She was the loving mother of Elizabeth (Raymond) Voigt, Michael (Beth) and Richard (Karen) Gonia. She was the dearest sister of Richard (Adelle), the late Ernest (Ruth) and Joseph Opat. She was the proud grandmother of Steven Voigt, Amy (Kevin) Huckstep, Adam and Matthew Gonia. She was also the fond sister-in-law of Beatrice and Geneva Gonia. She is further survived by dear friends at East Terrace.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, at First United Methodist Church, 121 Wisconsin Ave., Waukesha.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to First United Methodist Church are appreciated.

Robert J. Johnson
MUKWONAGO - Robert J. Johnson, 80, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000.

He was the loving father of Stephanie (David) Bunt and Tonda (Rhon) Roberts. He was the dear grandfather of 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was the dear brother of William Johnson II, David (Ann) Johnson, Velma Thompson and Vonnie Youngblood. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.

Robert was a veteran of the United States Navy and served his country in World War II.

Visitation will be held after 2 p.m. today at Mukwonago Baptist Church, 1610 Honeywell Road. A service will follow at 3 p.m. Interment to follow at Baptist Memorial cemetery.

Church and Chapel Funeral Service, 549-0659, is serving the family.

Dorothy Francis (nee Jurkiewicz) Nemec
WAUKESHA - Dorothy Francis (nee Jurkiewicz) Nemec, 82, found peace with the Lord on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000, at The Waters of Westmoreland. She was a member of St. William’s Catholic Church Christian Mothers in Waukesha, the "Jolly Crest Club" in Milwaukee and the Thursday morning senior bowling league at Holiday Lanes in Milwaukee. Dorothy was a former employee of Walgreens on Main Street in Waukesha and a resident of Summit Woods.

Dorothy is the beloved mother of Garrett (Carole) of Waller, Texas, and Doreen (Lee) Kluge of Menomonee Falls; the dear sister of Lorraine Tamms of Brookfield; and loving grandmother of Brandon Nemec and Shanda and Matthew Kluge. She is further survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11, at St. William’s Catholic Church, 440 N. Moreland Blvd. The Rev. Leonard Barbian will officiate. Friends and relatives may call from 5 p.m. Monday until the time of the Mass at 7 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at the Holy Trinity cemetery in Milwaukee.

In lieu of flowers, Masses are appreciated and memorials to St. William’s Catholic Church (Building Project), The Waters of Westmoreland or The American Cancer Society are also appreciated.

Dorothy Schutte
MARINETTE - Dorothy M. Schutte, 65, formerly of Waukesha, passed away Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000, at Crivitz Convalescent Center.

She was born Feb. 25, 1935, to Charles and Helen Hildebran of Waukesha. Dorothy was a graduate of Waukesha High School.

She will be sadly missed by her husband, Donald, whom she married Nov. 30, 1973. She is also survived by her daughters, Susan (Richard) Freudenstein of Helenville, Charlene (Richard) Jones of Muncie, Ind., Cyndi (Will) Antonson of Shell Knob, Mo., Dawn (Richard) Baacke of Marinette, Tina (Bernie) Uhl of Crivitz, Kristine Smith of Sobieski; her sons, Douglas Koeffler of Sullivan and Glen Koeffler of Rome; her stepchildren, Donna Rae Miller of Kohler, Kevin (Trish) Schutte of Pound, Curt (Kay) Schutte of Peshtigo and Mary (Joe) Wyszynski of New Jersey. She is further survived by her sisters, Rosemary Hildebran Harris, Carol (Robert) Henke, Donna Wallich and Barbara (David) Smith; her brother, Joseph (JoAnn) Hildebran; and her sister-in-law, Mary Hildebran. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert.

There will be a small, private prayer service at noon Saturday, Dec. 9, at Holy Family Parish, 1223 Carney Blvd., Marinette, for family members. Friends may gather from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at Peshtigo Community Center, 600 Pine St., Peshtigo to pay their respects.

Alice Walendowski
PEWAUKEE - Alice Walendowski (nee Kotlarek) of Pewaukee was born to eternal life Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, at the age of 91.

She was the loving mother of Frederick (Louise) of Elm Grove and David (Jean) of Genesee; proud grandmother of Lynn (Sheldon) Scheel of Waukesha, Mark (Kimberly) Walendowski and Tracy Walendowski of Genesee; and the fond great-grandmother of Jacob. Her husband, Sylvester, preceded Alice in death.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, at St. Anthony on the Lake, W280-N2101 Prospect Ave. (Hwy. SS), Pewaukee. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of the Mass at church. Entombment will be at St. Adalbert in Milwaukee.

Memorials in Alice’s name to St. Anthony on the Lake would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Delos B. Bishop
WAUKESHA - Retired United States Army Lieutenant Colonel Delos B. Bishop died peacefully at his town of Waukesha home Monday evening, Dec. 4, 2000, at age 84. He was born Oct. 23, 1916, in Cobb, the son of Ross and Shirley (nee White) Bishop.

Mr. Bishop is a retired livestock broker for the Milwaukee Stockyards. He was a graduate of Marquette University. As an outdoorsman, he loved to hunt and fish.

He is the dear father of Shirley Ann Bishop of Healdsburg, Calif., Dee (Donald) Jans of Mukwonago, Forrest (Ann) Bishop of Waukesha, Peggy (Robert) Homburg of Cottage Grove, Susan L. Bishop of Waukesha, Rosalie (Bob) Wiedeman of Waukesha and Edyth (Ron) Bishop-Morgan of Healdsburg. He is the grandfather of Shawn Anderson, Noel Anderson, Christopher Delos Anderson, Carolyn Ross Anderson, Jessica Ruth Anderson, Tracie and Darin Stein, Jody Merryfield, Lisa Bishop, Maggie Bishop, Kelly and Megan Homburg and Jeremy and Jason Wiedeman. He is the great-grandfather of Brandon Stein and the brother of Betsy Lord of Florida. Also surviving are other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jessica, in October of 1997.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home on Moreland Boulevard.

Mary Ellen Cassidy
WAUKESHA - Lifelong Waukesha County resident Mary Ellen Cassidy, 82, died unexpectedly Friday, Dec. 1, 2000. She was born in the town of Genesee on July 29, 1918, to Joseph and Mathilda (nee Grush) Cassidy. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Ms. Cassidy was a longtime county employee, spending most of her working career at Waukesha County Extension. She was a member of the Waukesha Rose Society and the Business Professional Women’s Club of Waukesha.

She will be sadly missed by her sister, Catherine Strand of Glen Ellyn, Ill., and her sister-in-law, Dolores Cassidy of Genesee. She is further survived by 11 nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Cassidy Sr., in 1996.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave. Visitation continues on Friday, Dec. 8, with prayers at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m., and then to St. Joseph Catholic Church for the funeral Mass at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at St. Paul’s cemetery in Genesee Depot.

Pierre N. Couture
MUSKEGO - Pierre N. Couture died peacefully at home on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, at age 69.

He was the cherished husband of Katherine (nee Janka); loving father of Pierre J. (Miriam), Jon-Pierre F. (fiancee Amy), and William M. (Lara); proud grandpa of Katherine Rose and Kayla Marie; fond brother of David (Del) and Tom (Dorris); and brother-in-law of Rosalind. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at the Hartson Funeral Home, 1111 W. Janesville Road, Hales Corners. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at the funeral home. Interment will be at Rural Home cemetery.

Jane Gygax
WAUKESHA - Jane Gygax, age 81, of Waukesha and Yuma, Ariz., died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Waukesha to William and Sadie (nee Anderson) Hughes on July 29, 1919. Jane grew up in Wales and married Fred Gygax at Jerusalem Presbyterian Church on Feb. 21, 1942. Jane and Fred operated a dairy farm in the town of Waukesha until 1959 and then switched the operation to strawberries, apples, sweet corn, asparagus, melons and other produce. They retired in 1983.

Jane served on the Board of Directors for the Wisconsin State Horticultural Society. She was a member of the Ina J. Reid Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star and the Welsh Women’s Club. She was a former member of the Farm Bureau and the choirs at Jerusalem Presbyterian Church, The First Baptist Church and the Evangelical and Reformed United Church of Christ.

She will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 58 years, Frederick M. Gygax and their children, Sally (Doug) Soderberg of New Berlin and Glen Gygax of Greenfield; four grandchildren: Scott Gygax of Appleton; Cynthia Gygax (fiance Scott Powers) of Appleton, Tim (Kim) Bewer-Wroblewski of London, England, Amy (Jim) Zdeb of Pewaukee; her brother Henry Hughes of Oconomowoc; 14 nieces and nephews; grandnieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave. A second visitation will be held after 11 a.m. until the noon funeral service at the funeral home Friday, Dec. 8. Entombment will follow the services at Prairie Home cemetery.

EAST TROY - Charles H. Hayen, 98, formerly of Eagle, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at Kiwanis Manor Health Care in East Troy. Funeral arrangements are pending at the Mealy’s Funeral Home in Eagle, (262) 594-2442.

Sharon E. Krueger
ADAMS FRIENDSHIP - Sharon E. Krueger, age 58, of Adams-Friendship, formerly of Waukesha, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at University Hospital in Madison.

Sharon was born Nov. 7, 1942, in Milwaukee, a daughter of Melvin and LaVern (nee Kochie) Merath. She graduated from Mukwonago High School in 1961. On June 10, 1961, she married Carrol Krueger in Waukesha.

She had worked at Equitable Stefanik/Coldwell Banker Realty office in Waukesha for 12 years before retiring and moving to Adams Friendship. She enjoyed fishing, being with her family and really enjoyed life. She was a former member of the Evangelical and Reformed United Church of Christ in Waukesha. She is preceded in death by her father, her sister, Pat Bath on June 10, 1981, and two children, John and Jacki Krueger.

Sharon will be sadly missed by her husband, Carrol Krueger of Adams Friendship; her daughter, Carol (Jeff) Klimas of Germantown; three grandchildren, Adam, Shawn and Kent Klimas of Germantown and her mother, LaVern Merath of Pewaukee along with other relatives and friends.

The funeral for Sharon will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, at the Cesarz, Charapata and Zinnecker Funeral Home West, 237 N. Moreland Blvd. The Rev. Gregg Young of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Germantown will be the officiant. Burial will be in Prairie Home cemetery in Waukesha. Friends may call at 4 p.m. until the time of the service at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Cesarz, Charapata and Zinnecker Funeral Home West.

Janet H. Planer
WEST ALLIS - Janet H. Planer (nee Golob) of West Allis, formerly Pewaukee, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000. She was 67.

She was the beloved mother of William of Oconomowoc and Scott of Tucson, Ariz.; the dear sister of Margie (Lou) Lonkner of West Allis, Olga Bolka of West Allis, Norie (Paul) Reinke of West Allis and Ruth Slocum of Enterprise, Fla. She was also the proud grandmother of Laura, Natie and Ariana. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded to eternal life by her daughter, Lisa Marie, and sister, Mary Rezek.

Janet was blessed with a heart transplant in 1993 and since then enjoyed the best seven years of her life. She was a devoted member of Woodlawn Lutheran Church and School in West Allis. She gave countless volunteer hours to the church, as well as The Bargain Center of Milwaukee, the Oconomowoc Chamber of Commerce and the Wisconsin Donor Network. Janet also enjoyed being president of the Wisconsin Lutheran High School Ladies Guild and Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society, Metro South Circuit.

Janet’s family and friends send their prayers, thank yous and condolences to the family whose daughter gave her the gift of a heart.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at Woodlawn Lutheran Church, 2217 S. 99th St. (at the corner of 99th St. and Lincoln Ave. in West Allis). The Rev. Thomas Kneser will officiate. Visitation will be held at 4 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Forest Hill cemetery in Pewaukee.

Memorials in Janet’s name to Woodlawn Lutheran Church-School general fund or the Wisconsin Donor Network, 9200 W. Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53226, would be greatly appreciated by the family.
