Earl R. Cooper Sr., 88, a lifelong resident of
Pettyville, departed this life on March 22,
2010, at his daughter's home in Mineral Wells.
He was born Oct. 25, 1921, at Pettyville, a
son of the late Amos "Dick" and Lula Blanch
Stoops Cooper.
He was the owner of Cooper's Market in
Pettyville for 38 years. He loved gardening
and watching sports.
Surviving is his son, Earl R. Cooper Jr. of
Pettyville; his daughter, Barbara and her
husband, Herbert Kelley of Mineral Wells;
grandchildren, Larry Roupe (Delta), Tammy
Litman (John) and Donna Collet (Clint); eight
great-grandchildren; and several nieces and
nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by his wife, Lora Jean Schultz Cooper; a
son, Bradley Cooper; and four brothers,
Clarence, Clinton, Carl and Edwin Cooper.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday
at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth Street,
Parkersburg. The Rev. Robert Watkins will
officiate and burial will follow at the
Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Lost Pavement Road.
The visitation will be at the funeral home
from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today.

Leonard Allen McBrayer
Belpre, OH
Leonard Allen McBrayer, 68, of State Route
339, Belpre, passed away March 21, 2010, at
Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born Sept. 20, 1941, in Parkersburg, a
son of the late Lewis T. and Eula Morrison
McBrayer.
He was a self-employed truck driver having
worked for various companies and he enjoyed
NASCAR.
He is survived by a daughter, Lisa Ward
(Shane) of Little Hocking, Ohio; three
stepsons, David Schnell of Columbus, Ohio,
Ronald Schnell of North Carolina, and Walter
Schnell in Marietta; one stepdaughter, Kathy
Schnell Chidnese in Indiana; grandchildren,
Gracie Ward and Morgan McBrayer;
stepgrandchildren, Patrick and Nicole
Chidnese, Jessica Schnell, Jacob and Timothy
Schnell, Kayla and Tiffany Schnell, and
Chrissy Schnell; one brother, William Russell
McBrayer of Little Hocking; a sister, Bessie
Boyer of Parkersburg; and several nieces and
nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Lewis,
Hamilton and Cecil McBrayer; infant sisters,
Hanna and Betty Jean McBrayer; and sister,
Geraldine Hall.
There will be a memorial service at 4 p.m.
Friday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg. The family will receive friends
one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Washington, DC
Ruby E. Griffith, 86, of Washington, D.C.,
passed away March 20, 2010, at her daughter,
Nova Cox's home in Parkersburg.
Cremation arrangements have been provided by
Kimes Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
There will be no local services.
Elmo Duward Barcley
Middle Ridge, Wv
Elmo Duward Barcley, 81, of the Middle Ridge
Community of Waverly, passed away March 16,
2010, at his home.
He was born June 7, 1928 in Wood County, a son
of the late Elmo Dudley and Ruth Lemley
Barcley.
Duward was a lifelong member of the Ogdin
Methodist Church, was a graduate of
Williamstown High School and retired from
Fenton Glass Art Works with 41 years of
service.
He enjoyed woodworking, antiques, going to
flea markets and was a collector of various
things.
Surviving is his wife of 54 years, Elaine J.
Jackson Barcley; one daughter, Vicki Barcley
(Lee Richards) of Parkersburg; one grandson,
Cassidy Barcley; one brother, Glenn Barcley
(Ruth Ann) of Waverly.
There will be a graveside service held1 p.m.
Friday at the Middle Ridge Cemetery off Route
31, Pastor John Barker will officiate. The
family will receive friends at Kimes Funeral
Home, 521 Fifth Street, Parkersburg on Friday
from noon until 12:30 p.m. before proceeding
to the cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the
American Cancer Society or the Housecalls
Hospice.
Betty E. Dowler
Belpre, OH
Betty E. Dowler, 83, of Belpre, Ohio, passed
away Thursday evening, March 11, 2010, at her
home.
She was born Aug. 20, 1926 at Slate Creek in
Wood County, a daughter of the late Arthur E.
and Pearl A. Allen Dowler. Betty retired from
Corning Glass Works and she loved playing
Bingo.
Surviving is one brother, Arthur E. Dowler of
Waterford, Ohio; two sisters, Opal Deem of
Parkersburg and Vera Henry of Luling, La., and
many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by brothers, Lester, Clarence,
Harold, Bernard and Richard Dowler; and
sisters, Ruth Deem, Jean Acree and Roberta
Kesterson.
The family would like to express special
thanks to her friend and caregiver, Pam Reamer
of Marietta.
The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday
at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg. Pastor John Barker will officiate
and burial will follow at Evergreen South
Cemetery. The visitation will be from 6-8 p.m.
today.
Clyde Coleman Lowers, Sr.
Parkersburg, WV
Clyde Coleman Lowers Sr. of Parkersburg went
home to forever be with his Lord on March 5,
2010.
He was born in Wood County, W.Va., on Oct. 19,
1935, to the late Okey Johnson and Icie Mae
Nichols Lowers.
A veteran of the Korean War, he proudly served
his country as a member of the United States
Army. He was a member of the NRA, Veterans of
Foreign Wars Post 1212 and American Legion
Post 15. Clyde also served his community for
many years and was a retiree of the City of
Parkersburg.
Always willing to truly give until all was
gone, this son, brother, father, grandfather,
great-grandfather, coach and friend loved
deeply and touched many hearts and lives.
Survivors include two brothers, Herschel
Lowers and Paul Lowers, both of Parkersburg;
two sisters, Wilma Henthorn and Roxie Acors,
both of Parkersburg; daughter and son-in-law,
Sheila and Doug Moore of Davisville; son and
daughter-in-law, Clyde Jr. and Wanda Lowers of
Parkersburg; four grandchildren, Kristina
Moore (George) of Waverly, Christina Duke of
Parkersburg, Michael Duke (Cathleen) of
Parkersburg and Sean Duke (Michelle) of
Jacksonville, N.C.; and eight great-
grandchildren, Chloe Constable, Cidney
Constable, Ciera Constable, Alexandra Duke,
Samantha Duke, Jackson Duke, Michael Duke III
and Isabella Moore. He was expecting his ninth
great-grandchild later this fall.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by two brothers, Virgil Lowers and
Arthur Lowers; and his beloved
companion, "Sarge." Resting now in the arms of
Jesus with no more pain or sickness, he
watches over his loved ones. We will see you
again someday. We love you and miss you.
The funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m.
at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg. Raymond Ray will officiate and
burial will follow at Evergreen South Cemetery with military rites conducted by American
Legion Post 15. Visitation will be at the
funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
