Virginia Leila Lane, 72, of Ravenswood, passed
away Jan. 24, 2015, at Worthington Manor.
She was born July 25, 1942, in Parkersburg, a
daughter of the late Edward and Lona (Bee)
Martin.
She was a member of Willowdale Baptist Church
and was a homemaker.
Surviving are two sons, Edsel (Lisa) Lane of
Belpre and Gary Lane of Ravenswood; two
daughters, Rosa Lie (Charles) Fletcher of
Murraysville and Diane Lane of Ravenswood; six
grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and
one sister, Jean Clem of Ripley.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by her husband, Richard Lane; two
sisters, Rosie Moore and Betty Martin; and a
brother, John Martin.
There will be visitation from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday
at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg. Cremation will follow and her
ashes will be interred at Mt. Zion Cemetery at
Belleville, at the convenience of the family.
Janet L Tanner
Parkersburg, WV
Janet L. Tanner (Rhodes), 78, passed away Jan.
23, 2015, at home with her family at her side.
She was born Feb. 27, 1936, to the late J.
Franklin Rhodes and Katie (Harmon) Rhodes.
She enjoyed crocheting, cake decorating, oil
painting and was a member of Waverly Church of
Christ.
She is survived by a son, Michael E. Tanner,
of Waverly, W.Va.; four grandchilden, Andrea
M. Tanner of North Bethesda, Md., Danielle R.
(Mark) Estep, of Wheeling, W.Va., James M.
Tanner of Waverly, W.Va., and Olivia L. Tanner
of Cairo, W.Va.; her dog, Misty Rose; two
special daughters in law, Rachel Davis of
Waverly, W.Va., and Kimberly Webb of Cairo,
W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by her husband of 55 years, Melvin E.
(Gene) Tanner; and her sister, Jo Ann (Rhodes)
Hamrick.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg. Evangelist Bob Long will
officiate and burial will follow at Middle
Ridge Cemetery. The visitation will be Monday
from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Rev Roger Parsons
Parkersburg, WV
Reverend Roger Lee Parsons, 58, of Mineral
Wells, passed away Jan. 22, 2015, at Camden
Clark Medical Center, ICU, following a brief
illness.
He was born on Nov. 25, 1956, in Parkersburg,
the son of Lula Mae Samples Parsons Donalson
of Parkersburg, and the late Robert Lee
Parsons.
He was a 1975 graduate of PSHS and was a
member of the Chesterville U.M. Church. Roger
was an ordained Minister with the United
Methodist Conference, currently serving the
Nine Mile Church near St. Marys and the
Belmont Church. He had also retired from
DuPont with 25 years of service.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by
his wife, Beverly J. Moore Parsons; one son,
Benjamin L. Parsons at home; a daughter, Megan
E. (David) Taylor of Lubeck; three
grandchildren, Gabriel, Amelia, and Samuel
Taylor; his sister, Carolyn (Ron) Pearson of
Elizabeth; his step-father, Charles L.
Donalson of Parkersburg; and his mother-in-
law, Mary Moore of Belleville. He is also
survived by several nieces, nephews, and great-
nieces and nephews. In additon to his father,
he was preceded in death by a daughter, Amy
Parsons.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m.,
Monday, Jan. 26, at Kimes Funeral Home, 521
5th Street, Parkersburg, with Pastor Troy
Derenberger officiating and music provided by
DaySpring. Burial will follow at the Pond
Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The visitation
will be from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 25, and
one hour prior to the service on Monday, Jan.
26, at the funeral home.
Katherine Rose Hill
Parkersburg, WV
Katherine Rose Hill, 77, of Parkersburg,
passed away Jan. 21, 2015, at her home.
She was born March 15, 1937, in Wirt County, a
daughter of the late Raymond Santee and Evelyn
B. Pepper Santee Naylor.
She was a member of the Lauckport Baptist
Church and had worked as the personal
secretery for Attorney Thomas W. Bailey for 25
years. Katherine loved writing poetry and
working Crossword Puzzels.
Surviving is her husband of nearly 56 years,
Mervin Edward Hill; two sons, Mervin Edward
Hill Jr. of Parkersburg, and Jeffrey C. Hill
of Vincent, Ohio; one daughter, Rebecca M.
(Larry) Edwards of Vienna; five grandchildren,
Larry D. Edwards, Christopher Allen Edwards,
Angela Nicole Edwards, Zachary Thomas Hill,
and Kylee Rose Hill; two great-grandchildren,
Fischer Ashton Edwards and Parker Easton
Edwards; one sister, Pearl Burdette of
Washington, W.Va. In addition to her parents,
she was preceded in death by four sisters,
Beulah Cline, Bernice Tallman, Alice Parkins,
and Vesta Santee.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m.,
Sunday, Jan. 25, at Kimes Funeral Home, 521
5th Street, with Pastor Rick Eaton
officiating. The visitation will be from 4-7
p.m., Saturday, Jan. 24, at the funeral home.
William Francis Kyle Jr
Parkersburg, WV
William Francis Kyle Jr., 82, of Parkersburg,
passed away Jan. 21, 2015, at Camden Clark
Medical Center.
He was born in Wood County, the only child of
William F. and Eva Shields Kyle.
Bill was a 1951 graduate of PHS and served in
the United States Air Force during the Korean
War. He was a long time member of Trinity
United Methodist Church and retired from
DuPont with 35 years of service. He was also a
53-year member of the Masonic Lodge and the
Shrine Temple and member of the VFW.
Survivng is his wife, Jo Ann Rogers Kyle; two
sons, Roger W. (Beth) Kyle of Rockport, and
David A. (Stephanie) Kyle of Parkersburg; two
grandchildren, twins, Justin and Jordan Kyle;
two step-grandchildren, Leah Parker and Libby
Cheuvront; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m.,
Saturday, Jan. 24, at Kimes Funeral Home, 521
5th Street, Parkersburg, with Pastor Dave
Stilgenbauer officiating. Burial will be at
Evergreen North Cemetery. The visitation will
also be on Saturday from 11 a.m. until service
time.
