Nicholas Harrison Leach

Nicholas (Nick) Leach, 28, of Morgantown, W.Va., departed this life on November 14, 2009.

Nick was born July 9, 1981, in Parkersburg, W.Va. He was a graduate of Parkersburg High School class of 1999 and was a student of the WVU College of Mechanical Engineering. He was an Army veteran having served in Iraq with the 150th Armored Division of the West Virginia Army National Guard.

He is survived by his mother, Ann Leach, of Vienna, W.Va.; grandmother, Stella Leach, of Mineral Wells, W.Va.: uncles, Jim Leach (Gail) of Veto, Ohio, and Robert Leach (Anita) of Parkersburg, W.Va.; and an aunt, Lynn Leach of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; and many cousins.

Especially close to Nick were his cousins, Macel Rhodes and her son, Roman Tarantini, of Morgantown, W.Va.; and Allison and Logan Leach of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; and special friend, Loni Jo Alexander, of Fairmont, W.Va.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert Ray Leach.

Nick loved playing his guitar, visiting with family and friends, and telling jokes. We will all remember him most for his kind and tender heart.

Funeral services will be at 1 pm on Friday, November 20, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., South Parkersburg. Visiting hours are 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Thursday, November 19, at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of the WVU Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center for their care. Gifts in Nick's name may be made to the Cancer Center by calling 304-293-4597 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.

George William (Bill) Scholl

George William (Bill) Scholl, age 74, of Vienna, W.Va. passed way September 29, 2009 at his residence.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 21, 2009 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna, W.Va. with Pastor Jay Burkhart officiating. Friends may gather the hour prior to services at the funeral home. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg.

Kandy Jo Bacorn

Kandy Jo Bacorn, 34, of New Matamoras, Ohio, formerly of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, at her residence.

She was born April 16, 1975, in Marietta, Ohio a daughter of Thomas Michael Brady of St. Marys, W.Va., and the late June Smith Brady.

Kandy was a homemaker who enjoyed writing poetry and attended Family Fellowship in New Matamoras.

She is survived by her husband, William Bacorn; one daughter, Cheyne Bacorn of the home; one sister, Aunnia Brady; one brother, John "Bobby" Brady; and a niece and nephew, Abigale and Isaiah Brady all of Paden City, W.Va. Also surviving are Melinda Yates and Tyler Chidester, both of Williamstown, W.Va.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Wesley Vernatter officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday and until time of services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Evelyn White

Evelyn White, 67, of Parkersburg passed away Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, at her residence.

She was born Oct. 28, 1942, in Wood County, a daughter of the late Ernest and Opal Angus Carson.

Evelyn was a member of the Sunrise Church of Christ and worked at the 19th Street Meat Market (Payne's) for over 23 years.

She is survived by one daughter, Tonya Jean Stewart (Ramon Poag) of Blackstock, S.C.; one son, Mark Edwin Donahue (Lisa) of Mechanicsburg, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Karen Metz of Parkersburg; two stepsons, Scott White (Jeana) of Belmont, W.Va., and Steven White (Heather) of Mineral Wells; and one stepdaughter, Pam Tracewell (Jay) of Mineral Wells.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Wayne Elwood White.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike Street, south Parkersburg, with Evangelist Elvis Galbreath and John Rockhold officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Housecalls Hospice or St. Jude's Childrens Hospital.

The family would like to thank special friends Wesley and Helen McIntire and the 19th Street Meat Market for their thoughtfulness.

Robert "Bob" Lydick

Robert "Bob" Lydick, 72, of Parkersburg passed away Nov. 14, 2009, at his residence.

He was born in Grantsville, W.Va., a son of the late Ernest and Waneta Whipkey Lydick. He was retired from DuPont Washington Works, enjoyed classic cars and showing his 1967 442 Oldsmobile convertible. He was an avid NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt Sr. fan, served in the U.S. Army and was a Methodist by faith.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Riggs Lydick; one daughter, Lisa Marks (Darren) of Belpre; two sisters, Karen Crawford (Mike) of Columbus, Ohio, and Sharon Sampson of Grantsville; one grandson, Tyler "Shag" Marks; and special friends, Connie and John Asbury.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., south Parkersburg, with the Rev. Dwane Porter officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Clair L. Wiblin

Clair L. "Dudley" Wiblin, 85, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away Nov. 8, 2009, at St. Joseph's Hospital.

He was born Oct. 2, 1924, in Gay, W.Va., a son of the late James and Carrie Parsons Wiblin. Clair was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II and was retired with over 40 years of service from A&E; Supply, where he was a machinist. He was a member of the Seventh Street United Methodist Church.

Surviving is his wife of 63 years, Mary Alice Paugh Wiblin; one daughter, Linda Chipps of Titusville, Fla.; four sons, Randy (Katie) Wiblin of Coolville, Ohio, Richard (Ida) Wiblin of St. Cloud, Fla., Ronald (Myrtice) Wiblin of Crestview, Fla., and Donald (Linda) Wiblin of Parkersburg, W.Va.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Greg Myers officiating. Private family interment services will follow at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation for friends and family will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

The family requests that donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in Clair's name.

William Randall McConaha

William Randall McConaha, 56, of Parkersburg, W.Va., lost his battle with cancer on Nov. 5, 2009, at his home.

He was born Aug. 21, 1953, in Parkersburg, a son of the late Leslie P. and Mary Curfman McConaha.

He was a member of Living Word Ministry in Newark, W.Va. and he was an over-the-road truck driver for 35 years with the last seven years at DeBarr Trucking in Parkersburg.

He is survived by his wife and caregiver, Nelia McConaha; his stepmother, Betty N. McConaha of Parkersburg, W.Va.; three daughters, Wendy (Richard) Riel and Rebecca (Robert) Dixon, both of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Pam (Brian) Wilday of Carlisle, Pa.; two sons, Tim (Jackie) Alkire of Greenwood, W.Va. and Mike (Joyce) Smith of Lancaster, Ohio; three granddaughters, Priscilla, Jessica and Davis; four grandsons, Brian, Brandon, Quentin and Austin; two brothers, Roger (Sharon) McConaha of Ripley, W.Va. and David McConaha of Parkersburg, W.Va.; three sisters, Rosalie Mahoney and Wanda (Steve) Tatman, both of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Susie (John) Johnston of Cincinnati, Ohio; one stepsister, Patty Earle; two stepbrothers, Denton Earle, William Earle; several nieces and nephews; and he had a very special friend, Kenneth (Jeannie) Johnston of Belpre, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Charles "Butch" McConaha.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Tim Kemp officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Judy Pauline Thorn

Judy Pauline Thorn, 57, of Parkersburg, W.Va., went to be with the Lord Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, at the Allegheny Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa.

She was born July 6, 1952, in Parkersburg, a daughter of the late Raymond and Pauline Gordon Thorn. She was a member of the Gateway Apostolic Church of Parkersburg.

She is survived by her daughter, Christina Thaxton and her fiance, Jimmy McGary, of Parkersburg, W.Va.; her companion of 39 years, Harold Mitchell; one sister, Jean Sheets of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two brothers, Raymond "Woody" Thorn of Parkersburg, W.Va. and Randy Thorn of Vincent, Ohio; and a very close friend, Shorty Edgell of Parkersburg, W.Va.

Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009 at the Gateway Apostolic Church, 15th and Oak Sts., Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Steve Joy officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Sunday at the church.

Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, W.Va. will be assisting the Thorn family with arrangements.

Julie D. Roberts

Julie D. Roberts, 56, of Vienna, W.Va., passed away November 1, 2009, at Carehaven of Pleasants Co., W.Va.

She was born January 3, 1953, in Parkersburg, W.Va., a daughter of the late Oran C. Ogdin and Helen Rheam Ogdin Busch, the previous owners of the former family-operated Ogdin Funeral Home of Parkersburg.

Julie was a member of the American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg, and was an avid C-B'er, using the handle 'Sweet Pea'. She also enjoyed bowling, going to the beach, and especially enjoyed her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church.

Surviving is one daughter, Christina Coffman and husband Ian of Vienna, W.Va.; one half-son, Christopher Roberts, who is currently based at Ft. Meade, Maryland, serving his country in the U.S. Army; one brother, Michael Ogdin of Orlando, Florida; and three grandchildren, Tristen P. and Sierra D. Persinger, and Ethany M. Coffman, all of Vienna, W.Va.

A committal service will be conducted at 1PM, Monday, November 9, 2009, at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery Chapel, with the Reverend Dr. Thomas McDowell officiating. Lambert-Tatman Funeral and Cremation Services, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Robert R. Newbanks

Robert R. Newbanks, 85, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away November 2, 2009, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. He was born September 19, 1924, at Palestine, Wirt Co., W.Va., a son of the late Wirt Richard and Loi Lott Newbanks.

Robert retired as a bricklayer and was a lifetime member of the Bricklayers Union. He was a true outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed playing chess and was a great dancer. He was a US Navy wounded veteran, having served in WWII, and was later a member of the VFW.

Surviving is daughter, Judy J. Harris and husband Troy of Parkersburg, W.Va.; son, Russell Earic Newbanks of Waverly, W.Va.; two brothers, Lloyd L. and Ralph D. Newbanks; one sister-in-law, Helen Newbanks; one brother-in-law, Millard Atkinson, Sr.; eighteen grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma V. Snider Newbanks; and ten siblings.

A committal service will be conducted at 1PM on Saturday, November 7, 2009, at the Sunset Memory Gardens Chapel of Peace with Mr. Jim Lynch officiating and full military rites conducted by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. The Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va., is assisting the family with arrangements.

James K. Statler

James K. Statler, 77, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away on Nov. 3, 2009, at the Clarksburg VA Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Nov. 12, 1931, in Fairmont, W.Va., a son of the late Kermit A. and Georgia Cooper Statler and the late Joseph Earl and Lillian Bunner who raised him.

Jim was an 82nd Airbourne veteran having served post Korean War. He was an ironworker and later had his own business, Caribou Campers and Statler Equipment. He was an avid snowmobile rider, loved to bass fish and was a huge WVU fan. He was a Protestant by faith.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Geneva "June" Statler; two daughters, Brenda and her husband, Tom Morris, of Parkersburg, W.Va. and Cheryl and her husband, Jim Eddy, of Fleming, Ohio; four grandchildren, Tom Morris III and Mathew Morris, both of Parkersburg, W.Va., Alyssa Whitely of Greer, S.C. and Tahssa Doak of Waterford, Ohio; 11 great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son; one brother, and a great-grandson.

There will be a memorial service at a later date.

Helen I. Baker

Helen I. Baker, 83, of Dayton, Ohio, formerly of Vienna, W.Va., and Shirley, W.Va., passed away Nov. 2, 2009, at the Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.

She was born Aug. 21, 1926, in Miletus, W.Va., Doddridge County, a daughter of the late Charles and Belva Corder. Prior to retirement, she was the Postmaster in Shirley. She was a member of the Wayside United Methodist Church, Vienna, W.Va.; a W.Va. 4-H All Star and club leader; and worthy matron of the Order of Eastern Star, West Union Chapter 56.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin C. Baker Sr.; a son, Tom Baker; a daughter, Belva Price; and brothers, Herbert Corder, Harold Corder, Harry Corder, Ray Corder and Eugene Corder.

She is survived by one brother, Robert Corder and his wife, Shirley, of Niles, Ohio; three sons, Calvin Jr. and his wife, Lynde, of Vienna, W.Va., David and his wife, Carol, of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Tim and his wife, Lucy, of Dayton, Ohio; grandchildren, Brian Baker, David Baker Jr., Andrea Ewart, Nathan Price, Jordan Baker, Rocco Baker, Jean Baker and Dominic Baker; and great-grandchildren, Gracin Price and Chelsea Ewart.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, November 7, 2009, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va., with the Rev. Dr. Michael Richards officiating. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Masonic Cemetery, West Union, W.Va. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Friday, November 6, 2009, and one hour prior to the services Saturday, November 7, 2009, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the Wayside United Methodist Church Building Fund, 3001 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, WV 26105, or the 4-H Annual Fund, at WVU Foundation, One Waterfront Place, P.O. Cargyle G. Kiser

Carglye G. Kiser, 87, of Mineral Wells, W.Va., passed away October 29, 2009 at Eagle Pointe Parkersburg.

He was born June 27, 1922, in Roane Co., W.Va., a son of the late William R. and Chloe Casto Kiser.

Carglye was a U.S. Army veteran having served his country for 3 years during WW II in North Africa and Italy. After returning from the war, he participated in the construction of the Dupont Chemical plant located in Washington, W.Va. and retired from there in 1985 after 39 years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Parkersburg and was particularly fond of the members of the Kelly Sunday School Class of which he was a member.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Virginia Davis Kiser; two sons, Larry L. Kiser (Carol) of Hendersonville, Tenn. and Danny L. Kiser (Camille) of Kingsport, Tenn.; one sister, Mary Raines (Carl) of Elkview, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Matthew Kiser (Stephanie) and Jonathan Kiser (Brittany) both of Gallatin, Tenn., Dr. Jeffrey Kiser (Marilyn) of Anchorage, Alaska and Jamie Kiser of Kingsport, Tenn.; and three great-grandchildren, Lane, Michael and Addisyn all of Gallatin, Tenn.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Corliss, William, and twin brother, Carlisle.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, south Parkersburg with the Rev. Richard McClure officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Mineral Wells, W.Va. Friends may call 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 1, at the funeral home.
