Keith G. Depoy

Keith G. Depoy, 87, of Geneva, Ohio, and previously of Alexander, W.Va. passed away Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, at Austinburg Nursing and Rehabilitation in Austinburg, Ohio.

He was born May 27, 1917, in Czar, W.Va., the son of the late Wesley and Essie (Bunner) Depoy.

He was united in marriage to Odice N. Farrar Depoy, who survives, on May 11, 1940 in Monterey, Va.

In addition to Mrs. Depoy, his wife of 64 years, three daughters: Bonnie Williams, of Nashua, N.H., Sue and husband Chuck Zimmer, of Geneva, Ohio, and Pat and husband Rick Campbell, also of Geneva, survive him.

Three sons: Meredith and wife Ada Depoy, of Walkersville, Delmas and wife Anita Depoy, of Geneva, Ohio, and Neil and wife Cathy Depoy, of Harpersfield, also survive him.

Two brothers: Kyle Depoy, of Geneva, Ohio, and Kensel Depoy, of Michigan, survive him as well.

Thirteen grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren also survive him.

In addition to his father and mother, a daughter, Norma, as well as a sister, Avolia Smith, preceded him in death.

Mr. Depoy was employed as a logger and with Specter Freight.

He was a member of the Geneva First United Methodist Church.

He enjoyed bowling and golf.

Friends will be received today, Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, at The Behm Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 175 S. Broadway, Geneva, Ohio, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, at The Behm Family Home and Crematory at 10 a.m.

The Rev. John Gross of the First United Methodist Church will be officiating.

Burial will take place at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Geneva, Ohio.

Contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, 5786 Heisley Road, Mentor, Ohio 44060, or to the Geneva First United Methodist Church, 89 S. Broadway, Geneva, Ohio 44041.

Linda G. Runyon

Linda G. Runyon, 59, of French Creek died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004, at St. Joseph?s Hospital. She was born April 6, 1945, in Pike County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Taylor and Eva Dorton Napier.

She is survived by her former husband Chester Runyon, one daughter Eva Runyon and Danny Friend of Rock Cave; three sons: Crayton and wife Sandra Runyon of Williamson, W.Va., Taulby Runyon and Lisa Patrick of Lafayette, Ga., and Joseph and wife Kimberly of French Creek, eight grandchildren and four step-grandchildren; four sisters: Maxine Marion and Delores Hilton both of Aflex, Kentucky, Lorraine Woods of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Pauline Richardson of Fort Wayne, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.

Three sisters and two brothers preceded her in death. Linda was a member of the Selbyville Volunteer Fire Department and was a Baptist by faith.

Friends were received Tuesday, Nov. 30 at the Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. today, Dec. 1 at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Terry Gower officiating.

The burial will follow in a private family cemetery at Brooks Hill, W.Va.

The Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Wayne Thomas Gibbons

Wayne Thomas Gibbons, 62, of Elyria, Ohio and formerly of Selbyville, died Dec. 24, 2004 in Ohio. He was born July 6, 1942, in Cleveland, Ohio, a son of the late Bernard and Ella Gibbons. He is survived by his wife Viola Dilley Gibbons. He is also survived by two daughters: Wanda and Donna; and two sons: Wayne and Ronnie; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one brother Denny and two sisters: Patty and Jan.

Friends will be received at the Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel on Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 31 at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Robert Heavner officiating. The burial will follow in the Pleasant Dale Cemetery at Selbyville. The Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Doyla ?Jean? Pringle

Doyla ?Jean? Pringle, 64, of Buckhannon died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005, at the St. Joseph?s Hospital.

She was born April 21, 1940 in Upshur County, a daughter of the late Lewis and Vernice Bunner Cutright.

She is survived by her husband Darrell Junior Pringle. She is also survived by two daughters: Melanie St. Clair of Buckhannon and Shanna Pringle of Buckhannon; two step-daughters: Brenda Curovic of Ohio and Sheila Lipinski of Ohio and one step-son Larry Pringle of Ohio; two grandchildren: Tyler St. Clair and Briea St. Clair both of Buckhannon; several step-grandchildren; one brother Julian Cutright of Abilene, Texas; and three sisters: Pauline Woody of Florida, Sue Tallman of Buckhannon and Connie Cottrill of Jane Lew. She is also survived by a great aunt, Madaline Taylor Buckhannon. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by one step-son, Jerry Pringle.

Friends will be received at the Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel today, Jan. 12 from noon to 2 p.m., the funeral hour with the Rev. Robert Heavner officiating. The burial will follow in the Upshur County Memorial Park at Tennerton. The Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel of Tennerton is in charge of the arrangements.

Marvin H. Clark

Marvin H. Clark, 90, of E. 26th St. died Monday, December 27, 2004 at Country Club Retirement Center after a short illness.

Marvin was born July 21, 1914 in Elkins, West Virginia, the only son of Marvin H. Clark and Adeline (Hamlin) Clark. His mother died when Marvin was four years old. He moved to Ashtabula and lived with his Aunt and Uncle, May and Bert Howard on Walnut Blvd. He graduated from Ashtabula Harbor High School in 1933 and attended West Virginia Wesleyan College where he met his future bride, Maxine Hinkle. They were married March 19, 1938.

A member of Harbor Lake Avenue Methodist Church, he sang in the choir and served on many church committees.

Marvin worked at Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company and retired as a Senior Results Technician with 37 years service. He enjoyed working at the church, volunteering for his political party and tending his roses.

Marvin was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity, a local scout master and loved fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Maxine; a daughter, Willa Mullins (Larry) of Hilliard, Ohio; a grandson, David Clark Mullins of Hilliard, Ohio; two sister-in-laws, Joan Hinkle and Mary Bailey; a niece and two nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two children, infant daughter Susan and son Marvin.

Services were held 11 a.m. Thursday, December 30, 2004 at Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Avenue, Ashtabula, Ohio. Rev. Sandra Dennis, Pastor of Harbor Lake Avenue Methodist Church officiated. Burial was held in Edgewood Cemetery.

Calling Hours were Thursday, December 30, 2004 from 9 to 11 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 2420 Lake Ave., Ashtabula and Harbor Lake Ave. Methodist Church.

Linda K. Knupp

Linda K. Knupp, 52, of Lewisburg, W.Va., died Friday, February 18, 2005, at her home, with her husband, close friends and family at her side.

She is survived by her loving husband, Michael A. Corley of Lewisburg; mother Verna I. Knupp and sister Donna L. Knupp, M.D., both of Pittsburgh; father and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. A.B. (Browne) Corley of Buckhannon, and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Glenn W. Knupp of Somerset, Pa.

Linda earned a B.S.S.W. from West Virginia University and a M.S.W. from the University of Pittsburgh. She was a licensed clinical independent social worker with membership in the National Association of Social Workers and the American Board of Examiners in Clinical Social Work. After 16 years, she retired from Somerset State Hospital to become co-director of social work at William Sharpe Hospital in Weston. Her recent position involved the Division of Rehabilitation services in Lewisburg. She enjoyed the outdoors and bird-watching.

Services will be private.

Franklin Andrew Flanagan-Metzler

Franklin Andrew Flanagan-Metzler, stillborn son of Tony Lee Metzler, of Buckhannon, and Leona Mac Flanagan and companion Kenneth Davis, of Buckhannon, passed away at birth on Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at Davis Memorial Hospital at 4:45 a.m.

In addition to his parents, a 6-year-old sister, Dakota Cheyenne Flanagan, of Buckhannon, survives him.

Maternal grandmother, Amy Leigh Deuley and step-grandfather, Ronald Deuley, both of Buckhannon, also survive him.

Paternal grandmother, Debbie Smith, of Ellamore, along with his maternal great-grandparents, Leona and Larry Zirkle, of Mabie, and Eden Hope Bender, of Adrian, survive him as well.

Paternal great-grandparents, James and Rena Smith, of Buckhannon, also survive him.

Also surviving are several aunts, uncles and cousins.

His maternal grandfather, Cpt. Sandy Gene Bender, of Fort Knox, Ky., a paternal grandfather, Franklin Claypool, and maternal great-grandfathers, Hartzel C. Bender and Amos Flanagan, also preceded him in death.

Friends will be received at the Oak Grove United Methodist Church near Rock Cave, Wednesday, March 16, 2005, from noon until 1 p.m., the funeral hour. Pastor Jerry Friend of the Church of Redeemed of Buckhannon will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery. The casket will remain closed. The family would like to give special thanks to Cindy Howard, PCT, JoEllen Markley, RN, Shalane Wolford, RN, and Lisa Crumm, RN.

At a later date, the family will be setting up a fund in Franklin?s memory to assist families who lose children before birth and for prenatal research. When the family sets up the fund, the information will be published and phone numbers will be available.

The F.E. Runner Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Franklin Andrew Flanagan-Metzler.

Randall F. Cesaro

Randall F. Cesaro, 52, of Dade City, Fla., died Sunday, March 6, 2005, at home. A native of West Virginia, he moved to Florida in 1996. He was a retired coal miner and was a Baptist by faith.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years Susan; son Brian Cesaro of Dade City; daughter Melissa Chisenhall of Bushnell, Fla.; three siblings: Jim Cesaro of Troy, N.C., Mary Myers of Replete, W.Va. and Lillie Allen of Canton, Ohio; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Ethel and Orlando Cesaro and two brothers: Harold ?Snooks? Cesaro and Orlando ?Buster? Cesaro.

The family received friends Tuesday, March 8, 2005, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral service was held in the chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 9, 2005. The burial followed at Dade City Cemetery.

D.P. ?Sheriff? Given

D. P. ?Sheriff? Given, 88, of Webster Springs, passed away Monday, March 28, 2005, at his residence following an extended illness.

He was born at Upper Glade, W.Va., May 6, 1917, the son of the late H.F. and Susan Paugh Given.

He was a life-long resident of Webster County. He was a retired contractor and a political figure. He served in the Army Air Corp 554th Bomber Squadron during World War II. He attended both the First Baptist Church and the First United Methodist Church in Webster Springs. He was a 1937 graduate of Cowen High School and a graduate of Glenville State College. He also studied at Oxford University in England.

Sheriff was a former Webster County Commissioner and served 10 years in the West Virginia House of Delegates. As a delegate, he was affectionately known as the ?father of food stamps, ? and was instrumental in passage of legislation that allowed for the purchase of vehicle licenses at county seats. He also helped bring the first scenic railroad excursion to Webster Springs in 1970 and was an avid supporter of reviving the CCC camps.

He was a member of VFW Post No. 3738, Webster Springs where he helped build the current VFW Hall. He was also a member of the American Legion Roscoe Miller Post No. 62, of Cowen. He was a former member of the Moose Club, Webster Springs Lions Club and Ruritan Club, and The Elks Club of Buckhannon.

A partner in Given Construction Company, he was credited with helping build additions to Webster Memorial Hospital and Franklin High School. He did major construction on the Cass Scenic Railroad. He built Dodd and Reed Funeral Home and the Mouth of Seneca Elementary School.

In later years, Sheriff hosted TV programs ?Away We Go, ? and ?Back Stage 69, ? which were regularly seen on several state TV stations.

His wife, Cassandra Mitchell Given, and two daughters: Donna J. Clutter Kafer and husband John, of Weston, and Jenny L. Given, of Webster Springs, survive him.

An adopted daughter, Michelle Wilson, of Ocean Isle, N.C., also survives him.

Grandchildren: Chris Avis and wife Melinda, of Clendenin, W.Va., and Andrea Clutter Hamrick and husband Boone, of Webster Springs, also survive him.

Great grandchildren: Ian and Trevor Avis, of Clendenin, W.Va., and Dalton Wilson, of Ocean Isle, N.C., survive him as well.

In addition to his parents, 11 brothers and sister preceded him in death.

Friends will be received today, Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at the Dodd and Reed Funeral Home in Webster Springs from 6 to 9 p.m.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 31, 2005, at the funeral home with Rev. Cofer Cochran and Rev. Ken Stockwell officiating. Burial will follow in the Miller Cemetery in Webster Springs.

The VFW Post No. 3738 will perform military rites.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to either the Webster County Senior Citizens Center, VFW Post No. 3738 or the First United Methodist Church Youth Group.

Gidd Singleton

Gidd Singleton, 89, of Rock Cave died Saturday, March 26, 2005 in the St. Joseph?s Hospital after a long illness. He was born July 19, 1915, at Gem, W.Va., a son of the late Charlie Ellis Singleton and Minnie Pulliam Singleton. He was also preceded in death by three wives, sisters: Maude Singleton, Addie ?Shorty? Brown, Patty Singleton and Gladys Whaley; brothers: Walter and Joe Singleton. Gidd was a construction worker and former owner of the Burnsville Diner.

Surviving are caregiver Ruth Criss of Rock Cave; two sons: Stephan Page Singleton and wife Kim of Clarksburg and Charles Singleton; daughter Betty James of Gassaway; three sisters: Maggie Williams of Heaters, Ruby Vernon of Baltimore, Md., and Peggy Bear of Florida; sister-in-law Lucille Singleton; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Friends were received Monday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Stockert-Gibson Funeral Home at Flatwoods. The funeral service was held 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at the funeral home with the Rev. Delmas Singleton officiating. The burial followed in the K. of P. Cemetery.
