Lena May Pumphrey Lantz
Lena May Pumphrey Lantz, age 68, of Buckhannon, WV, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. She was born October 8, 1943 at Orlando, WV a daughter of Angela Elizabeth Davis of Monticello, KY. In addition to her mother she is survived by her husband Russell R. Lantz whom she married on February 3, 1975. Also surviving are four brothers, Cecil Barnhouse and wife Robin of Pearl City, HI, Bob Barnhouse and wife Sue of Zion, IL, Bill Barnhouse of New Castle, IN and Jerry Barnhouse of IN; one sister, Jo Ellen Blevins and husband Butch of Losantville, IN; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, David Barnhouse and two sisters, Nancy Louise Barnhouse and Anna Shockley. She was a Nurses Aide at the Weston State Hospital and a Methodist by faith. She loved sewing, reading, flower gardening and watching the hummingbirds from her window. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Thursday, April 12, 2012 from 5-8 PM. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. J. Edward McDaniels officiating. Burial will follow in the Miller Cemetery at Horner WV. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

V. Kathleen Guthrie
V. Kathleen Guthrie, age 86, of Buckhannon, WV died Monday, September 14, 2009 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Buckhannon, WV. She was born February 2, 1923 in Upshur County, WV, a daughter of the late William Homer and Judi Lamb Tenney. On May 25, 1941 she married John Sterling Guthrie who preceded her in death on November 24, 1993. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Juanita VanGilder and Margorie Shoop and one brother, Stanley Tenney. She is survived by one son, John William (Boe) Guthrie of French Creek, WV; two daughters, Nancy Phillips of French Creek and Juanita Ryan of Hampton, VA; four granddaughters, Shauna Hatfield, Cindee Espenshade and Lisa Howard all of VA and Kelly Pugh of Buckhannon; three grandsons, Roscoe Phillips, Jr., Lee Phillips and John Guthrie all of French Creek; ten great-grandsons and five great-granddaughters. Mrs. Guthrie was a cook for the Upshur County Board of Education and a Methodist by faith. Friends will be received Thursday, September 17, 2009 from 4-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Donald Butcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Union Church Cemetery at Tallmansville, WV. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Finley Dale Gill
Finley Dale Gill, age 60, of Buckhannon, WV died Monday, October 19, 2009 at his home. He was born November 21, 1948 in Lawn, WV, a son of Viola Hizer Gill of VA and the late Frazer Gill. On June 25, 1971 he married Sandra Siron who survives. In addition to his mother and wife he is survived by four brothers, Calvin Gill and wife Wilma of Rainelle, WV, Floyd Gill and wife Joyce of Traglar, IN, Willis Gill and wife Faye of Traglar and Larry Gill of Columbus, IN; three sisters, Linda Syrus of Greenwood, IN, Nellie Tangersly and husband June of Traglar and Edith Castle of Harrisburg, VA; two half sisters, Kelly Hiser of Roanoke, VA and Christy Gill and an aunt, Bivian Hizer of CA. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Billy and John Gill. Mr. Gill repaired small appliances. He was a member of the Indian Camp United Methodist Church and he enjoyed talking on his CB Radio. Friends will be received Thursday, October 22, 2009 from 5-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Indian Camp Church Cemetery at French Creek, WV. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Herbert Gene Greene
Herbert Gene Greene, age 79 of Buckhannon, WV died Sunday, October 25, 2009 at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg, WV. He was born January 16, 1930 in Clarksburg, a son of the late David Prosper and Amanda Ruth Gould Greene. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Connie Rhodes; three brothers, Harold, Lyndon Gay and David Kenneth Greene and one sister, Ruby Maxine Mullins. Mr. Greene is survived by one daughter, Patty Perrine of Buckhannon; one son, David Clark Greene and wife Denice of South Carolina; four granddaughters, Suzanna Rhodes of Buckhannon, Mary Jo Smith of Alaska and Beth Ann and Shelly Lynn Greene, both of South Carolina; one grandson, Geoffrey Perrine of Buckhannon; two great grandchildren; one brother, Glenn Greene of Constantine, MI; and his wife Mary Maxine Greene of Buckhannon. He was a construction worker for C & R Builders. Friends will be received from 6-8 PM, Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Harry Cutlip officiating. Burial will follow in the Laurel Fork Church Cemetery at French Creek, WV. VFW Post # 3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post # 7 American Legion and DAV Chapters # 5 & 36 will conduct military honors at the graveside. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Faith Marie Gooden
Our Perfect Little Angel, Faith Marie Gooden, infant daughter of Bruce W. Gooden and Clara M. Hinchman both of Tallmansville, WV died Monday, October 26, 2009 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Buckhannon, WV. She was born October 26, 2009. In addition to her parents, she is survived by three sisters, Jerika Renee Rowan of Clarksburg, WV, Kiara Casto and Justice Gooden both of Buckhannon; maternal grandparents, Roger and Karen Ours Hinchman of Buckhannon; paternal grandparents, Zane and Milda Kelley Gooden of Tallmansville; paternal great-grandmother, Myrtle Kelley of Tallmansville; first cousins, Roger Gooden, II, Kayla Waugaman and Carissa Kelley and husband Michael; uncle, Roger Gooden; aunt, Roberta Waugaman and several other aunts, uncles and cousins. Graveside services will be held 10 AM Friday, October 30, 2009 at the Lanham Cemetery at Queens, WV with the Rev. Brad Tenney officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the family. Gerald Douglas Karickhoff
Gerald Douglas Karickhoff, age 84, of Buckhannon, WV died Monday, October 4, 2010 at the Louis A. Johnson V.A. Medical Center in Clarksburg, WV. He was born on July 21, 1926 in Wheeling, WV a son of the late Brennie and Jennie Louise Miller Karickhoff. On August 29, 1986 he married Bernice M. Taylor who survives. In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Brenda Smith and husband Tom and Diane Lanham and husband Darrel all of Buckhannon; three granddaughters, Tiffany Smith and Kristen Lanham both of Buckhannon and Ann Marie Gonvales of TX; two great grandsons, Gavlin Smith and Hunter Lane both of Buckhannon; three great granddaughters, Maranda, Zalenia and Romantica Gonvales all of TX, one step daughter, Donna Beckner Johnson and husband Chip of Woodbridge, VA; one step son, Melvin Beckner and wife Deborah of Buckhannon; three step grandchildren Lindsay, Nicole and Michael Johnson of Woodbridge, VA; two sisters Wanda Carrico, Linda Post and husband Bennie both of Buckhannon and two brothers Gene and Donald Tobe Karickhoff and wife Penny both of Buckhannon. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Carol Ann Walker; one sister, Mildred Jean Karickhoff and one brother Richard C. Karickhoff. Mr. Karickhoff was a coal miner and a member of Buckhannon VFW Post #3663. Friends will be received Friday, October 8, 2010 from 6-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Billee Scott Mick officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Hermon Church Cemetery in Buckhannon. Bessie Irene Gibson
Bessie Irene Gibson, age 94, of Buckhannon, WV went to be with her loving Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, November 23, 2009 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. She was born August 18, 1915 in Upshur County, WV, a daughter of the late Seymour and Eliza Jane Pickens Humphrey Linger. On September 23, 1933 she married Coy Gibson who preceded her in death on May 10, 1984. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one son, Donald Gibson; three brothers, Charles, Chester and Ophie Linger; a half brother, Bill Humphrey; four sisters, Mary Mitchelle, Ona Ford, Geneva Nicholson and Rethia Linger and a half sister, Madge Lantz. She is survived by one daughter, Shirley Girard and husband Frank of Buckhannon; three grandsons, Don and Ron Gibson both of Thomasville, NC and Trent Girard of Buckhannon; three great-granddaughters, Danielle, Kaitlyn and Kailey Gibson and one great-great-granddaughter, Kaylee Bunnell. Mrs. Gibson was a homemaker. She was a member of the Buckhannon Living Word Church of God. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Friends will be received Friday, November 27, 2009 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Frank Spears officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

George M. Gableman
George Marshall Gableman, born October 29, 1915 in Waverly, Ohio graduated from Waverly High School, and received a B.S. degree from Ohio State University in 1939. He was Regional Personnel Director of the War Manpower Commission in Cleveland, Ohio and served in World War II as 1st Lt. AGD with the 9th US Army in the European Theater. He joined the Atomic Energy Commission as Asst. Chief of Personnel Operation in Washington, D.C. and retired as Asst. Director for Operations after 40 years of public service. At Ohio State, he was a charter member of the Stadium Scholarship Dorm, a member of the Ohio State Marching Band, Si U and Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternities and the Industrial Management Club. He served as Chairman of the Scholarship Committee and Co-chair of the Deferred Giving Committee in Washington, and was honored with the Alumni Citizenship Award in 1984. In Alexandria he served in a number of capacities including Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Fairlington United Methodist Church, the Seminary Hill Civic Association, President of the Minnie Howard PTA, and on the Alexandria Hospital Corp. He was a member of the Grandstand Managers, Saints and Sinners, and the Army Navy Country Club. He is the son of the late Charles Peter and Mable Hutt Gableman. He married Jean McCormick in Gallipolis, Ohio in 1940 and is the father of Lynn (Mrs. Robert O. Rupp) of Buckhannon, WV. A brother, Charles Hutt Gableman died in 1984. He has three grandchildren, Abigail Buehrer Rupp Benjamin, Emily McCormick Rupp, and Thaddeus Robert Rupp, all living in the D.C. area. He has three great-grandchildren, Hannah, Alexis, and Maria Benjamin. Arrangements are for a 2pm graveside service on January 6, 2010 at Mount Hill Cemetery in Gallipolis, Ohio. John Wesley 'JW' Exline Ours
John Wesley 'JW' Exline Ours, age 18, of Ellamore, WV drowned Friday, April 18, 2008 in Stonewall Jackson Lake in Lewis County, WV. He was born August 24, 1989 to John A. and Cathy L. Ours of Ellamore. JW was a senior at Buckhannon-Upshur High School and studying forestry at the Fred Eberle Technical Center. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, an outdoorsman. He worked at CJ Maggies in Elkins, WV. He was a Christian by faith. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brothers and sisters, Elizabeth Golden and husband, Shawn of Buckhannon; Rick Smith and wife, Jess of Oak Hill, WV; Kelley Bender and husband, Jaime of Ellamore; Michelle Stinson and husband, Justin of Buckhannon; Brittany Exline and fianc, Dustin Tenney of Ellamore; Billie Jo Ours and girlfriend, Stephanie Lantz of Buckhannon; Katherine Exline and boyfriend, Luke Lane of Ellamore and Jackson Exline of Ellamore. He was the loving uncle to six nephews, James Golden, John Golden, Scott Golden, Eric Golden, Jordan Bender and Connor Ours. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Clara and Jack Ours; grandmother, Grace Exline; grandfather, Eugene Exline and wife, Ruth. He will be loved and missed by all. Friends will be received Monday, April 21, 2008 from 2-9 PM at the New Life Tabernacle. Celebration of life services will be held 2 PM Tuesday at the church with the Rev. Jeffrey Cochran officiating. Margaret Jane 'Peggy' Loudin
Margaret Jane 'Peggy' Loudin, age 69, of Buckhannon, WV, died Monday, June 10, 2013 at Holbrook's Nursing Home in Buckhannon. She was born April 24, 1944 in Brownsville, PA, a daughter of the late Elmer and Mildred Dryburgh Palmer. On May 1, 1965 she married Jerry L. Loudin who preceded her in death on January 6, 2010. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Pete Palmer. She is survived by one daughter, Jennifer Loudin of Buckhannon; two sons, Jerry L. Loudin, Jr. and wife Erin of Weston, WV and Joe Loudin of Buckhannon; five granddaughters, Sara and Samantha Loudin and Isabella Posey, all of Weston, Leah Wolfe of Buckhannon and McKenzie Loudin of Charlotte, NC; four grandsons, Seth Posey of Weston, Jacob and Josh Loudin and Edward Jace Griffith, Jr., all of Buckhannon; two great-grandsons, Gavin Wolfe of Buckhannon and Christopher Mason Woody of Weston; one great-granddaughter, Maggie Jane Woody of Weston and one sister, Patricia Priloh of Brownsville, PA. Peggy was a secretary for the Buckhannon Moose Lodge # 598. She was a member of Women of the Moose. Friends will be received Thursday, June 13, 2013 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 1 PM Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Ronald M. McCauley officiating. Burial will follow in the Waldeck Cemetery at Pricetown, WV. Mary Lurene Cottrill Gower
Lurene Gower, 89, of Buckhannon, WV went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at her home. She was an active member of The Mount Lebanon United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She was a Trustee and Sunday School teacher. She was also Secretary/Treasurer of the Mount Lebanon Cemetery for many years. She graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan College in 1964 with a degree in education. She taught school for many years thereafter. She was a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa (ADK) and the Upshur Co. Retired School Teachers Assoc. Lurene was also a Volunteer at the Senior Center and St. Joseph's Hospital. Lurene took great pleasure in cooking and baking for family and friends and was well known for participating in the annual church suppers and Good Friday Bake Sale. People would wait in line for her homemade bread and pies. Lurene loved working in her garden and would share her bounty with any and all. Lurene was born in Harrison County, W.V. on October 11, 1920, a daughter of Dorsey and Merle Bee Cottrill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Riley Doc Gower. Herman died August 19, 1985. They were joined in marriage June 25, 1937 by Rev. Arnold. Lurene was the loving mother of Mary Debnam and husband Tom of Yorktown, Va; Edward Gower and wife Veneda of Buckhannon; Pat Gower and wife Evelyn of Buckhannon; Lynn Gower and wife Mary of Buckhannon; Christina Bundrage and husband Elvis of Knoxville, T.N. Stepchildren include Marge Linger of Glen Allen, V.A. and her husband Otto, deceased. Ginny Barbour and husband Bob, both deceased of Maryland. Ruth Silvious and husband Laurence, both deceased of Virginia. Reverend Welton Gower and wife Edie, both deceased of Buckhannon. Lurene is survived by 8 grandchildren, Carol Jean Hendrickson of Yorktown, V.A.; Tim Gower of Port St. Lucie, F.L.; Shelly Hinzman of Wahiawa, Hawaii; Mary Beth Hughes of Newport News, V.A.; Joe Gower of Buckhannon; Heather Gibson of Fairmont, W.V.; Nathan Gower of Rio Rico, A.Z.; and Jasmine Bundrage of Knoxville, T.N.; 13 step grandchildren, Mike, Debbie, Steve, Larry, Tom, Vanessa, Linda, Bob, Norman, Judy, Mike, Ronnie and Shirley; she is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren, several step great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many, many friends. Lurene was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl and Ed Cottrill and three sisters Edie Gower, Polly Bailey and Wilma Cottrill. Friends may call at Poling St. Clair Funeral home Monday, January 11, 2010 from 4-9 PM. Funeral Services will be held 2 PM Tuesday at the funeral home with Reverend Ed McDaniels. Interment will follow at the Mt. Lebanon Cemetery in Buckhannon. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
