Mary Eleanor Ours
Mary Eleanor Ours, age 71, of Buckhannon, WV died Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at the Regency Hospital in Florence, SC. She was born March 7, 1936 in Grantsville, WV, a daughter of the late George Linn and Sara Olive Howes Strader. On July 26, 1954 she married William Ours who preceded her in death on January 27, 2007. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Norma Lee Strader Stemple and Mildred Lynn Strader Graham and one brother, James Lowell Strader. She is survived by one son, William George Ours of Santa Clarita, Ca; one daughter, Kathryn Lynn Ours of Myrtle Beach, SC; one sister, Elizabeth Rose Strader of Indiantown, FL and one brother, George Neal Strader of Huntington, WV. Mrs. Ours was a housewife. Friends will be received from 6-8 PM, Friday, July 20, 2007 at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Billee Scott Mick officiating. Burial will be in the Heavner Cemetery. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Howard Timothy Harris
Howard Timothy Harris, born October 14, 1953 to Howard Mason Harris and Anna Louise McDaniel Harris (deceased) departed this life October 20th, 2007. Tim is survived by his loving, long-time companion Carol Lynn Suder, one son Robert Mason Harris of Hawaii, two daughters Sloan Alicia Crites and Kara Nicole Harris both of Buckhannon. He is survived by his father Howard Mason Harris and one sister, Renee Snyder and her husband Ray Lynn Snyder, one nephew Ryan Mason Snyder of Buckhannon and one niece Shawna Lynette Snyder of Clarksville, TN. Tim also had two grandsons Hunter Timothy Crites and Robert Mason Harris, Jr. Tim was a member of Franklin Lodge # 7 AF & AM, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, Osiris Shrine in Wheeling, Upshur County Shrine, and Red Fez of Philippi. He served with the US Marine Corps from 1971-1974 with a Honorable discharge as an E-3, Lance Corporal. Tim was a highly respected coal miner by trade and will be missed by his co-workers that he touched or helped train. Tim was an avid Harley-Davidson rider, who enjoyed the freedom of the open road and lived for the ride. Friends can be received Wednesday; October 24, 2007 from 4-9 at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Holly Hoover officiating. Burial will follow in the Upshur County Memorial Park at Tennerton, WV. Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post # 7 American Legion and DAV Chapters 5 & 36 will conduct full Military honors at the graveside. Franklin Lodge # 7 AF & AM will conduct Masonic Graveside Rites. In lieu of flowers, Tims family requests a donation to be sent to: Shriners Hospital for Children 1645 W. 8th Street, Erie, PA 16505-5097. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends but our love will remain forever. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Virgil M. Johnson
Virgil M. Johnson, age 93, of Buckhannon, WV died Saturday, October 31, 2009 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Buckhannon. He was born March 25, 1916 at Holly Grove, WV a son of the late Willard K. and Bessie Hardway Johnson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers, Leo, Roscoe, Otha, Warren and Johnnie Johnson; and three sisters, Geraldine Myers, Hazel Marsh and his twin sister, Virgie Clark. On March 1, 1946 he married Vesta Carpenter who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Janice Carlyle and husband Don of Buckhannon; two sons, Rex Johnson and wife Beverly of Cumberland, MD and Leonard Johnson and wife Vickie of Volga, WV; two grandsons, Ashley Carlyle and girl friend Christina of Greenville, NC and Dustin Carlyle and wife Desiree of Milton, WV; one great granddaughter, Rylen Carlyle of Milton; and his beloved cat Pokey at home. He had been a mechanic at Listons Garage and retired as a custodian from the Upshur County Board of Education. He served in the Army during WW II and was a member of the French Creek Chapter # 36 DAV. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Monday, November 2, 2009 from 5-8 PM. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Donald Butcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Buckhannon Memorial Park. Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post # 7 American Legion, DAV Chapters # 5 & # 36 will conduct Military Honors at the graveside. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Maude Lucile Mearns
Maude Lucile Mearns, age 101, of French Creek, WV died Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at her home while under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice. She was born June 23, 1909 in French Creek, a daughter of the late Clarence and Pearl See Wingrove. On March 24, 1934 she married Lyonel Scott Bill Mearns who preceded her in death on January 25, 2001. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Winifred Stauffer and a brother, Donovan Wingrove. She is survived by three nieces, Judith Conigy, Kathy Keifer and Lori Eads all of OH and two nephews, Kevin and Kenneth Mearns both of OH. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mrs. Mearns was an Elementary School Teacher and Principal in Upshur County for 35 years. She was a member of the Aletha Chapter # 82 Order of the Eastern Star of Rock Cave, WV, the Assoc. of Retired School Employees and the French Creek Presbyterian Church. She was a 1929 graduate of Upshur County High School, a graduate of Wesleyan College and West Virginia University. Friends will be received Friday, September 24, 2010 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Order of Eastern Star Service will be held at 8 PM. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Conrad Tenney and the Rev. Charles M. Morrison officiating. Burial will follow in the French Creek Presbyterian Cemetery at French Creek. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Col. Frank W. Haught
Col. Frank W. Haught, age 92, of Buckhannon, WV died January 2, 2008 at United Hospital Center in Clarksburg, WV. He was a retired Army Colonel and a former USPFO for the state of West Virginia. He was a member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in Buckhannon, a former member of the Buckhannon Country Club, member of Franklin Lodge # 7 AF & AM of Buckhannon, a member of Osiris Shrine Temple, a member of the Military Officers Association, Alexandra, Virginia; member of the Military Officers Association Mountain State Chapter, Charleston; life member of the WV National Guard Association, Charleston; member of the American Legion Post # 7, Buckhannon; life member of VFW Post # 3663, Buckhannon; and a member of the 201st Infantry/Field Artillery Association, Morgantown. He joined the West Virginia Army National Guard on November 15, 1932 and entered active duty with the Army and the 201st Infantry on January 6, 1941. He served in Kodiak, Alaska from September 1941 to April 1943. He completed Officers Candidate School and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant on August 14, 1943, served with the 6th Armored Division in Europe during World War II from February 1944 to April 1945. He was a graduate of the US Army Command and General Staff College. In 1965 the Combined Field Support Maintenance Shop in Point Pleasant was dedicated to Col. Haught for his long, faithful and devoted service to the WV National Guard. He is survived by his wife Martha Lee Watkins Haught of Buckhannon; two daughters Carolyn Sue Rice of Scott Depot, Patricia Haught Huffman of Charleston; one son Gary Lee Haught of Williamstown; six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents James A. Bee Haught and Osha Nuzum Haught, five brothers, James H., Armor M., J. Edward, John L., and Warren L. Haught. During his Army and West Virginia National Guard service he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Army Meritorious Service Medal/with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Pacific Theater Service Medal, European Theatre Service Medal/ with 5 Campaign Stars, World War II Victory Medal, and West Virginia Legion of Merit; French Medal for the Invasion of Normandy and the Liberation of France, presented by the French Government. In 2002 Governor Bob Wise presented to Col. Haught the states highest civilian award of Distinguished West Virginian. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Friday, January 4, 2008 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Gary Stackpole officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery. Buckhannon VFW Post #3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post # 7 American Legion and DAV Chapters # 5 & # 36 will conduct Military Honors at the graveside. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. HARRY EDWARD INGRAM
Harry Edward Ingram, born May 30, 1932 in Philadelphia, PA passed away March 11, 2009 in Buckhannon, WV. Father, Harry Lewis Ingram, Jr. of Philadelphia, PA; Mother, Winifred Margaret (Williams) Ingram of Port Matilda, PA, both are deceased. He grew up in Takoma Park and Silver Spring, MD and McLean, VA. He is survived by his fianc, Barbara Benson; his brother Ronald George; son Kim Edward; two daughters: Ellen Margaret Dohm and Jennifer Helen Baker; four grandchildren: Tim, Brie, Ryan and Laura and great granddaughter Katerina. His ashes will rest with the Scout of the Buckongehanon in Buckhannon, WV. Third generation Native American, Susquehannock on his mothers side and traceable to 17th century England on his dads side. In ancient Germany "Ingram" meant, Keeper of the Raven. Pre-college he played on school teams in basketball, football, soccer and track and field. He was a track pentathlete and first in State, Maryland, Triple-jump 1950. He attended the Universities of Maryland, Virginia and Georgetown and Newark College of Engineering with additional studies at WV Wesleyan and Fairmont College. A U.S. Naval veteran of the Korean War, trained as a Dental Tech. and Marine Combat Corpsman. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and pursuing the study of religion and the mysteries and philosophy of life. His earlier careers moved him around and gave him an opportunity to serve in several communities. He was a member of the Landis Valley Mennonite Church, Lititz, PA. A previous UMC Sunday School teacher, certified lay speaker and lay pastor for three UMC churches in Upshur County WV. The later he said, "was one of the most moving experiences of my life." A registered Republican, but an independent voter. He was a DeMolay, Senior DeMolay and degree coach. He was a 32nd degree Master Mason, Franklin Lodge #7, Buckhannon, WV. A previous member of the New Haven, CT Jr. Chamber of Commerce, Junior Achievement Mentor, Rotary, Christian Business Mens Assoc., Literacy Volunteers of America, Gideons Intnl of Buckhannon, an assistant Cub and Scoutmaster, football coach of Pee Wee 80 & 100 lb. teams. He was a life member of the NRA and member Brassmasters Pistol Club. Ingram Labs. Inc., was an official sponsor of the 1988 U.S. Olympic Shooting Team. Life member of the International Freelance Photographers Organization and member International Dental Ceramics Society. A former member of McLean, VA, Volunteer Fire and Rescue. An EMT, CPR Instructor Trainer and Past President Upshur Co. Emergency Squad and past board member of Upshur Co. Emergency Medical Services. A founding member and past president of the Upshur Visual Arts Guild and prior member of WV Watercolor Society, Kentucky Watercolor Society, Lancaster Co. (PA) Art Association, Valley Art Assoc., Lititz, PA. Member of the WV Writers. A water media artist and sculptor with work in private and commercial locations around the country. Author, actor, play write and producer/director in various school, television and community theater settings. His two technical books were published, one in the dental field, the other for optical character recognition, OCR. His work career included: law enforcement with special FBI Academy training, equipment concept process engineer, marketing specialist and marketing management. His own businesses included Associated Human Resources, Inc., personal motivation; Photo Images, Inc., portrait studio; and Ingram Laboratories, Inc. Crown and Bridge (1972 - 1998). In 1995 he relocated to Lancaster, PA. After retiring from his businesses in 1998, he developed a commercial, retail web-site for marketing authentic, farm-to-customer Lancaster Amish products. The web-site, Buggy & Bonnet, Inc., appeared in the top 10 on Yahoo.com. In 2002 he disposed of his web-site and returned home to Buckhannon to write, dabble in art, and work on a series of children's stories based on some of his own farm experiences and as a country rodeo rider some years before. In 2005 he invented a personal device for people on home oxygen to control the tubing for the safety and comfort of the patient. In June of 2006 his patent pending invention, product manufacturing in progress, business and website were purchased by a manufacturing company in New England. Many times he said, "I wish I could go back and see and thank everyone who has helped me make this life such a wonderful adventure, the good and the bad. Life is a kaleidoscopic feast for us. We have to keep our eyes open and seize what life has to offer. The opportunities will not wait, are gone in a second, and someone else picks them up. As I now go to get the true answers, thank you all and may your lives be as great an adventure as my life has been, filled with grand friendships, many loves and countless achievements. Memorial Services will be held 6 PM at Mt. Lebanon Church Sunday, March 22nd, 2009. VFW Post #3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post #7 American Legion DAV Chapters #5 and #36 will conduct Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Harrys name to the Upshur County Senior Citizens Opportunity Center, St. Joseph's Hospital or the Mt. Lebanon Church, all in Buckhannon.

Martha Lee Haught
Martha Lee Haught, of Buckhannon, WV died February 3, 2008 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. She was the daughter of the late Loys and Nellie Watkins of Fairmont, WV. She was preceded in death by her husband Col. Frank W. Haught and two brothers, Frank and Emerson Watkins. She is survived by two daughters Carolyn Sue Rice of Scott Depot, WV, Patricia Haught Huffman of Charleston, WV and one son, Gary Lee Haught of Williamstown, WV, four grandsons, Chris Haught of Moon Township, PA, Brett Rice of Morgantown, Cam Huffman of Parkersburg, WV, Craig Huffman of Ripley, WV. Two granddaughters, Carla Anderson of Scott Depot, Taia Lincicome of Vienna, WV and seven great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Chapel Hill Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, 201st Ladies Auxiliary, Upshur County Shrine Club Auxiliary, and a former member of the Buckhannon Country Club, and Lambda Chi Omega Sorority of Point Pleasant. Friends will be received Tuesday, February 5, 2008 from 6-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Gary Stackpole officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. Evanell Hanline
Evanell E. Hanline, age 46 of French Creek, WV died Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. She was born on November 10, 1961 in Upshur County, a daughter of the late Gary Thomas and Elizabeth Jean Umble. She is survived by her companion, Leon Hanline of French Creek; two daughters, Christina Miller and husband Shawn of Philippi, WV, and Ginger Jean Marlow of French Creek; three grandsons, Colin Alderman of French Creek, Corey and Kaiden Miller both of Philippi; two granddaughters, Tarani Day of French Creek and Madisson Miller of Philippi; Step mother Myrtle Umble of Ivy, WV; one brother, Gary Wayne Umble and wife Alice of Ivy; two sisters Pamela Glasser of Tennerton, WV, and Beth Ann Koon and husband Jim of Ivy; one step brother, Clifford White and wife Janette of Buckhannon and two step sisters, Joyce Pumprey and husband Nick of Ivy and Betty Sturgill and husband James of OH. Mrs. Hanline was a cashier. Friends will be received Friday, May 23, 2008 from 6-8 PM at the Poling-St.Clair Funeral Home. Lorentz W. 'Renny' Hall
Lorentz W. 'Renny' Hall, age 70 of Buckhannon, WV died Thursday, December 25, 2008 at his home. He was born on October 17, 1938 in Buckhannon the son of the late Joseph P. and Clementine Lorentz Hall. Survivors include one son Lorentz W. Hall, II of Buckhannon; one daughter LeEllen Phares and husband Emerson of Elkins, WV; two grandsons, Tyler Lorentz and Dylan Shane Hall both of Buckhannon; two granddaughters Ali Chandler and Megan Engel Phares both Elkins; one sister deTemple Dee Dee Ryan and husband Kevin of Little Silver, NJ. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Irene (Teets) Hall and granddaughter Carly Renee Hall. Mr. Hall was a self-employed real estate developer. Renny graduated from BUHS in 1956. In August 1957 he married Judith Brown. He graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan College with a B.S. in business in 1960. In 1961 he founded Elkins Tire Company. He owned B&H Tire Company in Buckhannon from about 1970 to 1977. In 1978 he left West Virginia to pursue his interest in the quarter horse industry. Renny took his kids to Alaska for the summer of 1987. At the end of the trip they stopped in Buckhannon to visit friends and family and he decided to return home to West Virginia. A memorial service will be held Monday, January 5, 2009 at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home at 7 PM. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Buckhannon Senior Center, 26 N. Kanawha St. Buckhannon, WV 26201. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Richard Lee Koon
Richard Lee Koon, age 79, of Buckhannon, WV died Saturday, January 16, 2010 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Buckhannon. He was born June 29, 1930 in Czar, WV, a son of the late Wilson Okey and Nellie Rela Bailey Koon. On October 8, 1982 he married Alice E. Betty McCue who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Denver Leslie Koon of Buckhannon, Michael Wayne Koon of Charleston, WV and Gary Lynn Koon of Buckhannon; one daughter, Donna Kay Davis and husband Tommy of Buckhannon; one step daughter, Janet Jeffries and husband Roger of Buckhannon; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; three brothers, Claudie Koon and wife Bessie of Buckhannon, Stanley Koon and wife Ina Rose of Mill Creek, WV and Dallas Koon and wife Millie of FL; sister in law, Jane Koon of Buckhannon and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Orvie and Vernon Koon; infant brother, Denver Koon and one sister. Stella Wamsley. Mr. Koon was a carpenter and a member of the Tennerton United Methodist Church. He enjoyed gardening, hunting and feeding the birds. Friends will be received Tuesday, January 19, 2010 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1 PM, Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jeff Zickefoose and the Rev. William C. Eskew, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
