Paul Burton Mackey
Paul Burton Mackey, age 94, of Buckhannon, WV died Friday, January 29, 2016 at his home. He was born January 29, 1922 in Buckhannon, a son of the late Roldolphus Burton and Nola Liza Slaughter Mackey. On August 8, 1947 he married Ella E. Neal who survives. Also surviving are three granddaughters, Kathy Jo Hardman and husband James Brian of Ninety Six, SC, Melissa Kelley and husband Elmer of Tallmansville, WV and Crystal Cochran and husband Brian of Kenna, WV; five great-grandsons, Joshua Kelley and wife Elizabeth of Horner, WV, Jacob Kelley and wife Kayla of Tallmansville and Austin, Brandon and Carter Cochran all of Kenna; two great-granddaughters, Kristen Villarreal and husband Chris of Greenwood, SC and Jasmine Hardman of Ninety Six; one great-great-granddaughter, Aleah Kelley of Tallmansville; one great-great-grandson, Bryar Kelley of Tallmansville; several nieces and nephews and a special nephew, Wilbert Jim Mackey of Buckhannon. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two daughters, Patty Ann Light and Jane Paulette Cox; four brothers, Roy, Edward, Junior O. and Wilbert Bill Mackey and one sister Gladys Mackey Smith. Mr. Mackey served in the US Army during WWII. In 1948 he started working as a police officer and then went on to become the Chief of Police, Deputy Sheriff and then a Jailor. After working in law enforcement he worked for the Buckhannon Fire Department and when he retired he was the Assistant Fire Chief. After he retired from the fire department he became a City Councilman. Mr. Mackey was also a member of the North Buckhannon United Methodist Church. Friends will be received Monday, February 1, 2016 from 4-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 1 PM Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Junior Harris and the Rev. Calvin McCutcheon officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. The Upshur County Honor Guard will conduct Military Honors. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Charles Richard Mealey
Charles Richard Mealey, age 65, of Buckhannon, WV died Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at the Rosewood Center in Grafton, WV. He was born August 18, 1950 in Lewis County, WV, a son of the late William Ray and Choral V. Casto Mealey. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Shreve and nine brothers and sisters. He is survived by one son, Richard Warren Mealey of Buckhannon; three daughters, Shawna Rena Moff of OH, Daisy Mae Buckhannon of Walkersville, WV and Amanda Jean Skidmore of Webster County, WV; two grandsons, Derrick Moff of OH and Jakkson Collins of Walkersville; six granddaughters, Katie Moff of OH, Roxanne Radcliff of Weston, WV, Coralee and Kenzie Mealey both of Buckhannon, Haylie Buckhannon of Walkersville and Alexis Howell of Webster County; three sisters, Marie Woodyard of Buckhannon, Carol Lee and husband James of French Creek, WV and Joann Whetsell and husband John of Culpepper, VA; two brothers, Junior Mealey and wife Gerri of Crawford, WV and Denver Mealey and wife Kathleen of Amhurst, OH and several nieces and nephews. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Harrison B. B. Orsburn
Harrison B. B. Orsburn, age 85, of Tallmansville, WV died Thursday, December 20, 2007 at his home. He was born May 9, 1922 in Excelsior, WV, a son of the late Benjamin Buckey and Madge Shipman Orsburn. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Young; three sisters, Wanneta Orsburn, Elsa McCartney and Alta Holden and two brothers, Ralph and John Orsburn. He is survived by a former wife, Doris Orsburn of Buckhannon; two daughters, Elizabeth Orsburn of Buckhannon and Iris Hodges and husband Ernest of Pfafftown, NC; five sons, Harrison B. Orsburn, Jr., and wife Terri of Chattanooga, TN, Thomas Orsburn and wife Debbie of Tallmansville, Kenneth Orsburn and wife Carla of Tallmansville, Randall R. Orsburn and wife Debbie of Tallmansville and Joseph A. Orsburn and wife Lisa of Buckhannon; two brothers, Junior Orsburn of Sand Run, WV and Earl Orsburn of Stonewood, WV; nineteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Mr. Orsburn was a Christian by faith. A member of the U.M.W.A. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII and worked as a coal miner for consolidated Coal Co. at the Robinson Run and Williams Mines. Friends will be received Saturday, December 22, 2007 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Tim Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Sand Run Baptist Church Cemetery. Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post # 7 American Legion, DAV Chapters # 5 and # 36 will conduct Military Honors at the graveside. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the St. Joseph's Hospice. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Maurice William Osburn
Maurice William Osburn, age 77, of Buckhannon, WV died Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at Southern Ocean County Hospital in Manahawkin, NJ. He was born August 4, 1930 in Ellamore, WV, a son of the late Earnest and Stella Cutright Osburn. On April 20, 1957 he married Norma Jean Carpenter who preceded him in death on December 25, 2004. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Osburn. He is survived by three sons, Richard Osburn of Little Egg Harbor, NJ, Randall Osburn of Buckhannon and Robert L. Osburn and wife Ann of Buckhannon; one grandson, Brayden William Osburn of Buckhannon; five granddaughters, Tonya Osburn of Panama City, FL, Amanda McCartney of Buckhannon, Kara Chenoweth of Buckhannon, Danae Rooker of Campbellsville, KY and Megan Osburn of Little Egg Harbor; two great-granddaughters, Sarrah Sloan of Panama City and Brooklynn Rooker of Campbellsville; three great-grandsons, John Sloan, Jr. of Panama City, Blake Osburn of Buckhannon and Kaden Cave of Campbellsville and two sisters, Garnet Jean Hornbeck of Saybrook, OH and Darlene Perry of Sylvania, OH. Mr. Osburn was an Electrician for Union Carbide. He was a member of the Sand Run Baptist Church, the Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663, and Frank B. Bartlette Post # 7 American Legion. Friends will be received Sunday, April 13, 2008 from 1-4 PM at the Sand Run Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 4 PM Sunday at the church with the Rev. Robert Poling, Rev. John Ingram and the Rev. Donald Butcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Sand Run Baptist Church Cemetery. Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663, Frank B. Helen Ruth (Marple) Post
Helen Ruth Post, age 79, of the Hackers Creek Community, Buckhannon, WV went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, December 17, 2006 from Talbotts Personal Care Home in Belington, WV while under the care of Hospice Care of Tucker and Barbour Counties. She was born April 3, 1927 in Upshur County, WV, a daughter of the late John Excel and Merle Virginia Tinder Marple. On January 19, 1945 she married Merlin Dale Shorty Post who preceded her in death on March 10, 1986. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Red Marple and four sisters, Genevieve Clark, Gwendolyn Lucia, Imogene Sloboda and Eumatella Marple. Mrs. Post is survived by a daughter, Barbara Jo Harvey and husband Marvin of Buckhannon; a grandson, Brad N. Harvey and wife Jennifer of Buckhannon; two granddaughters, Lynn Tenney and husband Chad and Amanda Ketterman and husband Jay all of Buckhannon; two great grandsons, Garrett Tenney and Bryer Ketterman both of Buckhannon; three great granddaughters, Madison Tenney and Graci and Maggi Ketterman all of Buckhannon; a sister Evelyn Miles of WV and sister in law, Izola Marple of Buckhannon. Helen was a homemaker, a member of the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church on Hackers Creek, a member of the Pringle Tree OES and a volunteer at the Upshur Parish House. She also loved to quilt. Friends will be received Monday, December 18, 2006 from 4 to 8 PM at Poling-St.Clair Funeral Home in Buckhannon. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Ed Lowther officiating. Burial will follow in Buckhannon Memorial Park. Poling-St.Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Leona B. Pritchard
Leona B. Pritchard, age 93, of Buckhannon, WV died Wednesday, September 5, 2007, at the St. Joseph's Hospital in Buckhannon. She was born on October 21, 1913 in Barbour Co., a daughter of the late Clyde Earnest and Lillie (Boyles) Ballah. On September 5, 1939 she married Andrew Pritchard who preceded her in death on August 21, 1990. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two brothers; Clyde Ernest Ballah, Jr. and Dyson Ballah; and one sister Della Lea Jack. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was a homemaker and a member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Chapel Hill Women's Club and the Lorentz CEOs. Friends will be received from 6-8 PM on Friday, September 7, 2007 at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 10 AM held Saturday, at the funeral home with the Reverend Gary Stackpole officiating. Burial will follow at the Fraternal Cemetery at Belington, WV. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements

Rachel M. Pullen
Rachel M. Pullen, age 85, of Buckhannon, WV, died Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at her home. She was born October 2, 1922 in Sutton, WV a daughter of the late Fletcher & Maude Perkins Hyer. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Minter Pullen, one son, James Pullen, two brothers, Richard and William Hyer, and four sisters, Ruth Mullins, Virginia Hays, Genevieve Gunter and Helen Williams. Surviving are three daughters, Sandra Kay Frame and husband James of Charleston, WV, Barbara Linger and husband David of Minnesota and Deborah Gooden and husband Tim of Buckhannon; two sons, Stephen Pullen of Rock Cave, WV and Michael Pullen of Buckhannon; seven granddaughters, Linda Harper of Charleston, Angela Burgess of Charleston, Kimberly Heater of Buckhannon, Stephanie Metz of Rock Cave, Sherry Lynn Hurst of Gassaway, WV, Karen Pullen of Gassaway and Brookelyn Gooden of Buckhannon; three grandsons, Jeff Pullen of Rock Cave, Shawn Pullen of Rock Cave and Brian Linger of Minnesota; tweleve great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. Rachel retired from Nursing at the St. Joseph Hospital in 1982. Her career in nursing started in the Sutton Clinic in the 1940s, then she went to the Sutton General Hospital until its closing in 1967 at which time she went to the St. Joseph Hospital in Buckhannon. Rachel was a Christian and is with the Lord now. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Saturday, December 8, 2007 from 4-9 PM. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Sunday at the funeral home with Pastor David Jesse. Burial will follow in the Skidmore Cemetery at Sutton. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Garnet Post
Garnet Post, age 94, of Buckhannon, WV died Thursday, June 19, 2008 at her home. She was born February 26, 1914 in Braxton County, WV, a daughter of the late James and Sarah Cayton Williams. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one son, Basil W. McCoy; three sisters, Mamie Dobbins, Rose Foster and Mary Williams and two brothers, Charles and Johnnie Williams. She is survived by daughter, Lucille M. Blake of Buckhannon; daughter and caregiver, Mabel Reed and husband Carl of Buckhannon; one son, Albert Dunn of Manassas, VA; two granddaughters, Susan Winslow and husband Steve of Philippi, WV and Susan Deremer and husband Bob of Cumberland and three great-grandchildren, Chelsea, John and Chris Winslow of WV. Mrs. Post was a housewife and a Methodist by faith. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Friends will be received Saturday, June 21, 2008 from 4-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Poling officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Herbert Lee Pumphrey, Sr.
Herbert Lee Pumphrey, Sr., age 86, of Ellamore, WV died Friday, July 11, 2008 at Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg, WV, under the care of hospice. He was born March 5, 1922 in Upshur County, WV, a son of the late George Thomas and Hetty Lenora Harman Pumphrey. On August 1, 1944 he married Mary Cathleen Phillips who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Herbert Lee Pumphrey, Jr., and wife Bonnie of Madison, OH and Thomas Burton Pumphrey, Sr. of Buckhannon, WV; two daughters, Connie Talbott and husband Leo of Tallmansville, WV and Linda Matthews and husband David of Winchester, VA; eleven grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold C. and Ray Marvin Pumphrey and one sister, Nina Marie Edgell. Mr. Pumphrey worked as a coal miner and in the timber industry. He also worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps in Pickens, WV and Montana. He served in the US Army from 1942-1946 with the 78th Calvary Recon Troop Lightening Division, in the European Theater during the Battle of the Bulge and was at the Remagen Bridge. He was an avid sportsman and loved hunting, fishing and feeding the birds. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He had a loving family and will be missed by all. Friends will be received Sunday, July 13, 2008 from 6-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Ron Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Union Church Cemetery at Tallmansville, WV. Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post # 7 American Legion, DAV Chapters # 5 & 36 will conduct military honors at the graveside. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Helen Marie Price
Helen Marie Price, age 78, of Buckhannon, WV died Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at her home. She was born November 11, 1929 in Hometead, PA, a daughter of the late John and Helen Forgash Oneufer. On June 16, 1951 she married Paul Donald Price who preceded her in death on August 12, 1988. Mrs. Price is survived by a daughter Christine Carroll of Buckhannon; four sons, David Price of Jefferson Hills, PA, Regis Price of Florida, Paul Price of Buckhannon and Mark Price of Canonsburg, PA; two brothers, John Oneufer of PA and Jerry Oneufer of Keysport, PA and ten grandchildren. Helen was a homemaker. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Poling-St.Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Betty Lou Plymale
Betty Lou Plymale, beloved wife, mother and grandmother went to her heavenly home at the age of 84 on Sunday, October 05, 2008 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Buckhannon. She was born August 11, 1924 in Kingmont, WV, the daughter of the late Carl and Flossie Vincent West. On November 28, 1942 she married Dixie Plymale who preceded her in death on May 11, 1993. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by; a daughter, Bonnie Plymale, four brothers, Marion West, Ray West, Ruben West and Richard West, two sisters, Louary Victo and Iris Thompson and one son-in-law, Richard Scott. Surviving are two sons; Clyde Plymale and wife Dora of Jefferson, MD and Gene Plymale and wife Patty of Buckhannon; four daughters; Dorothy Coontz and husband Eugene of Martinsburg, WV, Loretta D. Samples, Martha Scott, Margaret Rowan and husband Bill all of Buckhannon; and one sister, Frances Carlin of Fairmont, WV. Also surviving are 25 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Plymale was a homemaker and a member of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints. Friends will be received Tuesday, October 7, 2008 from 6-9 PM at The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the church with Branch President Chad Plymale officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Lebanon Chruch Cemetery in Buckhannon. . Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
