Glenna Gail Goff Preece
Glenna Gail Goff Preece, 53, of Kermit, passed away Friday, Oct. 31, 2003, at Appalachian Regional Hospital, South Williamson, Ky.

Born Jan. 29, 1950, in Chattaroy to Mauriene Goff and the late George Goss, she was a teacher. She was a member of Bethel Temple Assembly of God, Nolan.

Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, Edward Tyson Preece; son, Karson Tyson Preece; brothers and sisters, George Edward (Margaret) Goff of Red Jacket, Ronald (Joyce) Goff of Delbarton, Jerry (Janey) Goff of Delbarton, Dan (Lacrecia) Goff of Virginia Beach, Va., Richard (Dottie) Goff of Belfry, Ky., Kay (Ron) Parsley of Delbarton, Gwen Goff of Kermit; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003, 11 a.m. at Bethel Temple Assembly of God in Nolan with Rev. Robert Perry, Rev. Haskel Jr. and Rev. Gary Harper officiating. Burial will follow oat Mountain View Memorial Gardens, Nolan.

Visitation for the general public will be Saturday, from 6 - 9 p.m. at Bethel Temple Assembly of God.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home, Inez, Ky.

Myrtle Belcher Owens
Myrtle Belcher Owens, 72, of Davin, W. Va., passed away Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003, ain Huntington, W. Va.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003, 2 p.m., at the Bailey Funeral Home in Elkhorn City, Ky. with burial following in the Wilson Cemetery, Draffin, Ky.

Visitation will be held at Bailey Funeral Home after 6 p.m. Saturday.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.

Norma Ooten
Norma Ooten, 77, of Dingess passed away Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003, at her residence.

Born July 10, 1926, in Kirk, W. Va., to the late George and Rhoda Browning Nelson, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Ooten was a member of Parsley Bottom Freewill Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Arthur J. Meade and Lon Ooten; one grandson, Lance Farley; four brothers, Jess, Lawrence, Oros and Wade Nelson; four sisters, Daisy Marcum, Leah Finley, Gladys Marcum and Beatrice Caperton.

Surviving are her three daughters, Sue (Terry) Baisden, Norma Ann (Timmy) Deskins and Donna Rose (Dan) Hammick; eight sons, Lawrence Wade Nelson, Danny (Doris) Meade and Toby (Charlotte) Meade, Buck Meade, John Meade, James (Susie) Meade, Tom (Tammy) Farley, all of Dingess, Rick (Shelia) Meade of Verdunville, W. Va.; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003, at noon, at James Funeral Home, Logan, W. Va., with Rev. Wayne Runyons officiating. Burial will follow in the Nelson Cemetery at Dingess.

Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held Saturday, November 1, 2003, from 6 - 9 p.m.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of James Funeral Home, Logan.

Tania Renee Obey
Tania Renee Obey, 40, of Liberty Heights, Williamson, passed away Friday, November 7, 2003, at her residence.

Born December 16, 1962, in South Williamson, Ky., she was the daughter of Prestine Perkins Warren of Williamson, and the late Leslie Warren, Sr. She was a member of the Logan Street First Baptist Church where she was a member of Sunday School and Youth Choir. She was a 1981 graduate of Williamson High School and attended Southern Community and Technical College.

Surviving are her former husband, James Obey of Williamson; son, Charles Edward Warren of Williamson; daughter, Charity Evonne Warren of Williamson; brothers, Leslie (Thelma Craig) Warren, Jr. of Columbus, Ohio and Hadsol Prater of Williamson; sister, Marsha Warren of Williamson; uncles, Rev. Nathaniel (Carol) Perkins of Waynesboro, Va., Rev. James C. (Linda) Perkins of Detroit, Mich. and William F. Perkins of Queens, NY; aunts, Mrs. Edith (Clifford) Farrar of Richmond, Va., Lavella Perkins of Richmond, Va., Sandra Johnson of Richmond, Va. and Sytonia Gage of Richmond, Va.; and special family friend, Mrs. Juanita Hooks.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 13, 2003, 1 p.m., at Logan Street First Baptist Church with Rev. Gerald Dotson, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. View Memory Gardens, Maher, W. Va.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 12, 2003, from 6 - 8 p.m., at the church.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Gregory Funeral Home of Williamson.

Kathy Karen Ball
Kathy Karen Ball, 46, of Williamson died on Friday, Nov. 7, 2003, at the Williamson Memorial Hospital.

She was born on July 23, 1957, to the late Ben and Elsie New Blankenship. She was a licensed practical nurse.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Gary Blankenship.

Mrs. Ball is survived by her husband, Rocky Ball Sr.; one son, Rocky (Trish) Ball Jr. of North Matewan; three brothers, Ben Blanken-ship Jr. and Larry Blankenship, both of Edgarton, and Tommy Blankenship of Freeburn, Ky.; two sisters of Eula Wright of Hickory, N.C., and Phyllis Smikey of Summersville, S.C.; and three grandchildren, Lexus, Austin and Haileigh.

A memorial service will be conducted at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at the Full Gospel Church at Matewan with the Revs. Fred Taylor and David Smith officiating.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Chambers Funeral Services of Matewan.

William Elkins
William Elkins, age 72, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2003. He was an employee of Bordens Dairy for 23 years and a member of Columbus Freewill Baptist Church on Hilock Road in Columbus, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Authula Elkins Maynard; sister, Garnet Hall; and brother, Russell Elkins.

Surviving are Mary Elkins of Columbus; sons, William Jr. of Tucson, Ariz., Jeffrey (Dee-Dee) of Columbus and Randy (Sue) of Las Vegas, Nev.; brother, Irvin (Carol) of Borderland, W. Va.; sisters, Ann Marie Scurlock of Grove City, Ohio and Juanita Mitchell of Yorkville, Ohio; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held Monday, November 10, at the O. R. Woodyard Co. Chapel, 1346 S. High St. Additional visitation will be at Laurel Creek Baptist Church in Lenore, W. Va. from 6- 12 p.m. Tuesday where the funeral service will be held Wednesday at 12 noon.

Interment will follow at Mountain View Memory Gardens, Maher, W. Va.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of O.R. Woodyard Company, Columbus, Ohio.

Elsie Cline
Elsie Cline, 90, of Gilbert, W. Va., passed away Monday, November 10, 2003, at her residence.

She was born January 17, 1913, in Verner, W. Va. to the late Thomas and Ellen Allen Workman.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 12, 2003, 1 p.m., at Mounts Funeral Home with Rev. James Kettle officiating. Burial will follow at Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, W. Va.

Friends may call Mounts Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, November 11, 2003, from 6 - 9 p.m.

Mounts Funeral Home of Gilbert is in charge of arrangements.

Peggy Ann Saunders Smith
Peggy Ann Saunders Smith, 69, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, formerly of Williamson, W. Va., passed away July 23, 2003.

Born June 5, 1934, in Williamson, she was the daughter of the late D. C. (Clifford) Saunders and Adelaide Wolford Saunders. She was a 1952 graduate of Williamson High School where she was a member of the WHS Band, serving as a majorette.

Surviving are her husband, Carlos Smith; sons, David Slater of Pataskala, Ohio, Jimmy Slater of Columbus, Ohio, Ronald (Heidi) Slater of Columbus, Ohio, Jerry (Cindy) Slater of Reynoldsburg, Ohio and Michael (Cheryl) Slater of Pickerington, Ohio; brothers, Jerald (Kim) Saunders of Belluvelle, Ill. and Daniel (Phyllis) Saunders of Carroll, Ohio; sister, Ruth (Nick) Hatfield of Pickerington, Ohio; and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held July 25, 2003, in Reynoldsburg, Ohio.

Arrangements directed by Hatfield Funeral Chapel of Toler, Ky.

Nettie G. Coleman
Nettie G. Coleman, 57, of Panther, W. Va., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, at Welch Community Hospital at Welch, W. Va.

Born January 22, 1946, in Pike County, Ky., to the late Ernest Rife and Josie Hardin Rife, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Coleman was of the Church of God faith.

Surviving are her husband, Douglas M. "Mack" Coleman of Panther, W. Va.; sons, Harold Coleman (Kristy) and Douglas F. Coleman (Jennifer), both of Panther; daughters, Janice McCoy of Panther and Josie Steele (Ernest) of Bradshaw, W. Va.; brother, Harold Rife of Union City, Tenn.; sister, Hazel Watson of Columbus, Ohio; seven grandchildren, James McCoy, Angel Steele, Candace Coleman, Cynthia Steele, Chassie McCoy, Nicholas Steele; and one great grandson, Andrew Steele.

Funeral services will be held at noonm Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003, at Church of God at Isaban, W. Va., with Revs. Larry Rife, Cline Jackson, Cletis Jackson and Leroy Holly officiating. Burial will follow at the Coleman Cemetery at Bull Creek, W. Va.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will begin Friday, Nov. 21, 2003, at the church, at 6:30 p.m., with services nightly at 7 p.m.

Arrangements are under the direction of Phelps Funeral Service at Phelps, Ky.

Tennessee Chapman
Tennessee Chapman, 94, of Caney, W. Va., passed away on Friday, Oct. 31, 2003, at the Logan (W. Va.) Regional Medical Center.

She was born on Dec. 15, 1908, in Kermit, a daughter of the late Emanuel and Virginia Terry Rose. She was a homemaker and a devoted and loving mother. Her legacy to her family is one of love and faith in God. She was a long-standing member of the Caney Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Monroe "Roy" Chapman; five sons, Charles, Thomas, John c. Garland, and Shayde Chapman; four brothers, Shelton, Paul Milton, Lonnie Rose; and one daughter Virginia Chapman.

Mrs. Chapman is survived by five sons, James Chapman of West Jefferson, Ohio, dale Chapman of Duncansville, Ohio, Emanuel Chapman of London, Ohio, Donald Chapman of Piketon, Ohio, and David Chapman of Delbarton; two daughters, Faye Dingess of Delbarton and Betty Brown of Grove City, Ohio; two sisters, Hazel Copley of Fort Gay, W. Va., and Lucille Bervidege of Cardington, Ohio; 43 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 3, 2003, at the Chafin Funeral Home in Delbarton with Bill Alephire officiating. Burial will follow in the Chapman Cemetery at Caney.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 2, at the funeral home.

Mary E. Duffey Depue
Mary E. Duffey Depue, 54, of Spencer, W. Va., formerly of Williamson, died at the Roane General Hospital in Spencer following a sudden illness.

Funeral services were Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home in Spencer. Burial was in the Spencer Memorial Cemetery.

Barbara Fields
Barbara Fields, 52, of Williamson, and Route 2 Delbarton, W. Va., went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 10, 2003, in the St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington, W. Va.

She was born July 23, 1951 in Warm Hollow, Matewan, W. Va., to the late Paul A. and Clara Mae Browning Earl.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by grandparents Rev. J. A. and Thelma Lee Fetty Earl and Thomas and Malinda Justice Browning; uncles, Sam, Bill, David and Columbus (Lum) Browning; and aunts, Bessie Browning, Ada Mae Browning and Mary Lois Earl Clendenin.

She was a homemaker and long-time employee of Food City in South Williamson, Ky. She was also a 1970 graduate of Matewan High School and a member of the Matewan United Methodist Church.

Her survivors include her husband, Roger Fields; mother-in-law, Dorothy Fields; uncles, Herbert Browning and Hobart (Pauline) Browning, both of Williamson, W. Va., F. F. Earl (Emily) of Pt. Pleasant, W. Va. and Robert B. Earl of Oklahoma; also a close friend, Darlene Stanley.

funeral services will be held at the Chafin Funeral Home Thursday morning, November 13, 2003, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Hal Hevener officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. View Memory Gardens at Maher, W. Va.

Visitation will be from 6 - 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Funeral Home with special services starting at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Josh officiating. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Chafin Funeral Home of Delbarton.

Christopher Bradley Justice
Christopher Bradley Justice, 37, of Gilbert, W. Va., passed away Sunday, November 9, 2003, at his residence in Justice, W. Va.

He was born March 8, 1966, to Glen Dale and Sandra Gibson Justice of Justice, W. Va.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 14, 2003, 1 p.m. at Mounts Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Nagy officiating. Burial will follow at the Davis Cemetery, Justice, W. Va.

Friends may call Mounts Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, November 13, 2003, from 6 - 9 p.m.
