Alva E. Hatfield, 80, of Coal Mountain, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, December 10, 2007, from Logan Regional Medical Center.
Born on May 12, 1927 at Coal Mountain, he was the son of the late Gaston and Ophelia (Maynor) Hatfield.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers: Rush, Wayne, Rosco, and Albert Hatfield; and four sisters: Mary Brooks, Rosette Hatfield, Violie Cline, and Merlie Walls.
Alva was a disabled coal miner and the oldest living charter member of the Big Cub Missionary Baptist Church at Coal Mountain. He has been a member of the church for 62 years and during those years he served as a deacon and trustee of the church.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Alva are: his loving wife of 54 years, Ruth Hatfield, his daughter, Rita (Butch) Davis, his son, Billy Hatfield, his two grandchildren: Greg Davis and Krista (Jeremy) Warrix, his four great grandchildren: Brooklyn Justice, Braylee Warrix, Haven and Abram Davis, all of Coal Mountain; his brother, Don Hatfield; and a host of family and friends.
Friends called at the Big Cub Missionary Baptist Church at Coal Mountain, on Wednesday, December 12th after 6 pm.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, December 13, 2007, at the Big Cub Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Glenn Hatfield and the Rev. Ricky Proffitt officiating. Burial followed in the Coal Mountain Community cemetery at Coal Mountain. Family and friends served as active pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.

Luther Mounts, 57, of Right Hand Fork of Gilbert Creek, departed this live to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, December 8, 2007, from his residence.
Born on March 17, 1950, at Baisden, he was the son of Gladys (New) Mounts and the late Nelis Mounts.
He was a disabled coal miner, a taxidermist for 17 years, and pastor of Miracle Church of God, and a member of the Full Gospel Church of God at Baisden.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Luther are: his loving wife of 39 years, Bonnie Mounts of Baisden, his two daughters: Michelle (Kevin) Cline and Melinda (Rickey) Johnson, both of Baisden; his two sons: Eugene (Tasha) Mounts of Hanover and Kojak (Crystal) Mounts of Poca; his eight grandchildren: Tiffany & Savannah Cline, JJ & Josh Johnson, all of Baisden, Tyler, Brittany and Brayden Mounts of Hanover, and Ally Mounts of Poca; his mother, Gladys Mounts; his three brothers: Learmon (Sue) Mounts, T-Bug (Rhonda) Mounts, and Larry 'Snake' Mounts and Carol; his two sisters: Gearlene (Bill) Mounts and Trish (Terry) Glandon; his two aunts: special aunt Dukey (Alma Cline) and aunt Alice Lester; his two uncles: Doug & Amos New; special sister-in-law, Sharon Medley; a very close and special friend, Pat Webb; and a host of family and friends, all who will miss him greatly.
Friends called at the Full Gospel Church of God at Baisden, on Monday, December 10th after 6 pm. Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at the Full Gospel Church of God with the Rev. Jonas Trent and the Rev. Winfred Bradford officiating. Burial followed in the My Heart cemetery at Pickens Fork, Baisden.
Active pallbearers were: David Ward, Dave Carter, T-Bug Mounts, Learmon Mounts, Terry Glandon, Larry 'Snake' Mounts, and Ricky Mounts. Honorary pallbearers were: JJ Johnson, Josh Johnson, Rickey Johnson, Kevin Cline, Eddie Mounts, and Jessie Trent.

Belinda Jean 'Jeannie' Angle, 43, of Accoville, departed this life on Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at her home.
Born on June 25, 1964 at Man, she was the daughter of the late Everette Monroe and Melva E. (Tiller) Mounts.
Jeannie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and was of the Church of God faith.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Jeannie are: her husband, Troy G. Angle of Accoville; her son, Michael (Karen) Hall of Justice; her two daughters: Kelly Jo (J.C. 'Jake') Backus of Man, and Kristen (Adam) Harrison of Okalahoma; her three grandsons: Mikey, Matthew, and Caiden Hall; her three granddaughters: Casey Hall, and Abby and Marissa Harrison; her three sisters: Benita (Larry) Barnett of South Williamson, KY, Jowanna (Robert) Kennedy of Accoville, and Stephanie (Audie) Blankenship of Gilbert; her brother, Kevin (Donna) Bartram of Union; and a host of family and friends.
Friends called at the Verner Community Church on Saturday, December 8th after 6 pm. Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, December 9, 2007 at the Verner Community Church with the Rev. Walt Grimmett and the Rev. Joey Kennedy officiating. Burial followed in the Browning and Lester cemetery at Spice Creek section of Verner. Family and friends served as pallbearers.

Timothy Neal Martin, 46, of Coal Mountain, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, December 5, 2007, from Bowers Hospice House of Beckley.
Born on August 23, 1961 at Hinton, he was the son of Genivee (Biggs) Martin and the late Robert F. Martin.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a child, Taylor Martin, and his grandparents: Porter and Lottie Martin, and Charlie Biggs and Noni Webster; and several aunts and uncles.
Timothy worked in the coal mines for 14 years. He loved Nascar, especially Mark Martin. He also loved hunting, fishing, and going to church. He was a member of the Big Cub Missionary Baptist Church at Coal Mountain.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Timothy are: his loving wife of 14 1/2 years, Sheila (Hatfield) Martin, his two sons: Andy Martin of Huntington, and Brian (Codi) Martin of Oceana; his 2 grandchildren: Hailey and Lucas Martin; his six brothers: Bob (Marie) Martin and Randy (Debbie) Martin both of Marie, Ronnie Martin of Covington, VA, Jerry (Brenda) Martin of Charleston, Phillip (Sheila) Martin of Bragg, and Dewey (Sheila) Martin of Bedford, VA; his sister, Sandra (Mark) Toney of Bradley; his sister-in-law, Judy (Rick) Faulkner of Asheboro, NC; his two brothers-in-law: Brian (Amanda) Hatfield of Thomasville, NC, and Keith (Lorainne) Hatfield of Asheboro, NC; his special mother-in-law; Katherine Hatfield and his father-in-law and guardian angel Arden Hatfield of Coal Mountain; his special friends: Bryan and Pam Green of Ikes Fork, and Jack and Vickie Martin of Beckley; several nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 8, 2007, at the Big Cub Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Glenn Hatfield, Rev. David Johnson, and the Rev. Louis Collins officiating. Burial followed in the Coal Mountain Community cemetery at Coal Mountain. Family and friends served as pallbearers.

Ada Faye (Bailey) Mounts, 64, of War Eagle, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, December 3, 2007, at Charleston Area Medical Center, General Division.
Born on April 17, 1943, at Long Pole, she was the daughter of the late Rufus and Sendy (Lester) Bailey.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Russell 'Buddy' Mounts; her father-in-law, Bruce Mounts; two sons: infant Kimmy Mounts and Ronnie Mounts; an infant daughter, Bonnie Sue Mounts; three brothers: Donald, Albert, and Willard Bailey; and two sisters: Corrine Glanden and Lassie Glass.
Ada was a homemaker and a member of the Faith Outreach Church at Isaban. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She was a sweet loving lady who will be sadly missed.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Ada are: her son, Russell (Karen) Mounts, Jr.; her three daughters: Donna Mounts and her fiancé Raymond Hatfield, Wilma (Terry) Goodman, and Cindy (Dino) Roberts, all of War Eagle; her sister, Benner (Herbert) Trent of Malta, OH; her eight grandchildren: Amanda Woods, Matthew Goodman, Lora Justice, Marlena Cline, Samantha Cline, Christina Mounts, Eric Ellis, and Adam Hardin; her five great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, December 6, 2007 at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in the Star Hollow cemetery at War Eagle. Family and friends served as pallbearers.

James Ralph Hendricks, 72, of Riverview section of Gilbert, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, December 2, 2007, at Logan Regional Medical Center.
Born on November 30, 1935 at Ronceverte, he was the son of the late Orville and Faye (Cyrus) Hendricks. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Roger Nathan Hendricks.
James was a member of the Riverview Freewill Baptist Church for 50 years, serving as a deacon for 40 years, and the choir leader. He was a retired coal miner.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of James are: his loving wife, Helen Hendricks of Riverview; his four daughters: Tammy Ruth (Michael) England of Winston Salem, NC, Mischelle Renee Hendricks Arnold of Riverview, Mary Robin (Jerry) Matson of Canonsburg, PA, and Kimberly Rachel Cox of Gilbert; his four grandsons: James Keith Cook, Randall Seth Cook, Andrew Jeffery Arnold, and Justin Blake Bateman; his two granddaughters: Lyndsey Morgan Bateman and Hailee Marie Arnold; his great granddaughter, Payton Elizabeth Jaymes Cook; his three sisters: Patricia Rabie of Verner, Brenda Lester of Mallory, and Evelyn Browning of Riverview; his five brothers: Robert Hendricks of Chattaroy, Randy and Richie Hendricks both of Verner, Darrell Hendricks of Earling and Mike Toler Hendricks of Tamcliffe; and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, December 5, 2007, at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Michael Browning, Rev. Clyde Endicott, and Rev. Daniel Dean officiating. Burial followed in the Hollywood cemetery at Gilbert.
Family and friends served as pallbearers.

Isom 'John' Johnson, 82, of Wharncliffe, departed this world for a better home on Friday, November 23, 2007. Born on September 7, 1925, he was the son of the late Isom and Mae (Testerman) Johnson. In addition to is parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ethel Johnson; his second wife, Ruby Johnson; one son, Clifford Johnson; one granddaughter, Karen Johnson; two brothers: Richard and Harmond Johnson; and two sisters: Velma Dingess and Mary Ferrell.
Isom was known as a hard worker in the coal mines and a good Christian to all neighbors. He was of the Church of Christ faith.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Isom are his and Ethel's children: Linda (Art) Flasher of Elizabethtown, PA, Phyllis (Jerry) Thompson of Huntington, Stewart (Velma) Johnson, Isom (Deborah) Johnson, and Ronald (Kay) Chaffin, all of Wharncliffe, and Charlotte Dingess of Mount Joy, PA; an adopted daughter (grandchild) of Ruby and Isom: Tessa Johnson of Gilbert; his step-children: Regina Sloane of Gilbert, Rita Berry of North Carolina, and Robert McGraw of Princeton; his sister, Goldie Phipps of Lucasville, OH; his 17 grandchildren, his 29 great grandchildren; his 5 great great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
Friends called at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert, on Monday, November 26, 2007 from 6 to 9 pm. Funeral services were held at noon on Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel with the Evangelist Gene Clemons officiating. Burial followed in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby Heights, Pecks Mill. Pallbearers were: Randy and Garrett Johnson, Adam Meade, and Curtis and Gary Flasher.
The family would like to express a special thanks to Dignity Hospice of Chapmanville and the workers at Appalachian Home Healthcare for their care and support during their time of need.

Gloria Jean Bowles, 52, of Baisden, departed this life on Thursday, November 22, 2007 at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, WV.
Born on November 24, 1954 at Man, she was the daughter of the late Jay and Olive (Piper) Trent. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Teddy Ray Bowles, 1 brother, Steve Trent; paternal grandparents: Mickel & Martha Trent; and maternal grandparents: Calvin & Thelma Piper.
Gloria was a clerk employed with the Gilbert Pit Stop, and of the Pentecostal Faith.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Gloria are: her son, T. R. Bowles of Baisden; her brother, Jimmy Trent of Baisden; her granddaughter, Breanna Hoke of Ballard; her aunt, Geraldine Ellis of Bunkerhill; her niece, Stephanie of Alderson; her two nephews: Steven and Bobby of Oceana; and a host of cousins and friends.
Friends called at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert on Sunday, November 25th from 6 to 9 pm. Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm on Monday, November 26, 2007 at Mounts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Billy Beheler officiating. Burial followed in the Hatfield cemetery at Sharon Heights, Hampden. Friends served as pallbearers.

Pricie Dunigan, 91 of Hanover, departed this life on Tuesday, November 13, 2007, at her residence.
Born on March 11, 1916 at Hensley, she was the daughter of the late Elijah and Ruby Mae (Justice) Vance.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Riley Dunigan, three sisters: Sylvia Vance, Ida Jean Vance, and Evelyn Perry; two brothers: Claude and James Vance; and a granddaughter, Melissa Dunigan.
Pricie was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, and was of the Baptist faith.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Pricie are: her eight children: Delena Vanover of Hanover, Louie Dunigan of Brandywine, Earnest Ray Dunigan of Coal City, Roy Dunigan of North Spring, Lonnie Dunigan of Millville, NJ, Ronnie Dunigan of Hanover, Virginia 'Peggy' Scott of Palm Coast, FL, and Clayton Dunigan of Simon; her four sisters: Mary Vanover, Betty 'Reba' Ellis both of Justice, Carrie Wilburn of Abingdon, VA, and Janice McCrary of Lebanon, TN; her three brothers: Harce, Harry, and Charles Vance all of Justice; her 17 grandchildren; her 17 great grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.
