Charles R. "Dickie" Nicholson, 76, of Rt. 3, McConnelsville, Ohio, died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 1994, at Selby General Hospital, Marietta, Ohio, of an apparent heart attack. He was born in Avon, a son of Dulcie "Dutch" Nicholson of New Milton, and the late Amos Edward Nicholson. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II and Korean War. He retired in 1981 from Consolidated Gas Corp., Yellow Creek Station, Calhoun County, after 30 years of service as a compressor station operator. He was a member of Salem VFW Post 9151, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was a Protestant. Surviving are his wife of 23 years, Helen L. Greathouse Nicholson of West Union; two daughters, Judith Hickman of Williamstown and Loretta Sue Nicholson of West Union; eight sons, Richard Kelley Nicholson of Salem, Clifton Edward Nicholson and Jerry Lynn Nicholson, both of McConnelsville, Edward Charles Nicholson and Donald Ray "Flip" Nicholson, both of West Union, Lloyd Dale Nicholson and Garry Lee Nicholson, both of Beverly, and Richard Leon Nicholson of Baltimore, Md.; six sisters, Marie Polan of Buckhannon, Opal Shafer of Springfield, Ohio, Burtie Ward of Belpre, Carrie Cumberledge of Mt. Clare, Nancy Skinner of Mineral Wells and Betty Shafer of Warren, Ohio; four brothers, Eugene Nicholson of Weston, Denzil Nicholson of Rosemont, Roy K. Nicholson and Milton Dean Nicholson, both of New Milton; 21 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Virginia Louise Dell; and one brother, Phillip Nicholson. Services were held at Spurgeon Funeral Home, West Union, with Rev. Paul Flanigan officiating. Burial was in Middle Island Seventh Day Baptist cemetery, New Milton.
NORRIS, HAROLD GENE
Harold Gene Norris, 58, of Grantsville, died Wednesday, Oct. 26, 1994, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Born June 30, 1936, at London Mills, Ill., he was a son of the late Andrew and Nelda Ulm Norris. He was the builder and owner of Norris Screen and Manufacturing Co. of Princeton, W. Va. He attended First Baptist Church and Enon Baptist Church, both of Grantsville. Surviving are his wife, Judy Norris; one daughter, Mrs. Denise Meek of Phoenix, Ariz.; one step-daughter, Mrs. Sherry McCroskey of Grantsville; one step-son, Donnie Nichols of Mt. Zion; one grandson, Joshua Meek of Phoenix, Ariz.; four step-grandchildren, April and Brad McCroskey of Grantsville and Dustyn and Breeann Nichols of Mt. Zion; one uncle, Eldon Ulm of Avon, Ill.; and one aunt, Ruth Painter of Astoria, Ill. Funeral Services were held at First Baptist Church of Grantsville with Rev. James Pearson, Rev. Kenneth Heiney, and Rev. Carroll McCauley officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers included Euell Hoskins, Jr., Jerry Riggs, Larry Morton, Jim Stump, William Morrison, Doug Stull, Albert Smith, and Donnie Johnson.
O'DELL, ORVALL
Orval O'Dell, 80, of Ellenboro, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 1993, at his residence after an extended illness. He was born in Lincoln County, a son of the late Harley Forest and Missouri Idonna Cox O'Dell. He worked in the oil fields for 40 years. Surviving are one sister, Minnie Little of Mt. Zion; one brother, Stanley O'Dell of Buchannon; and one stepdaughter, Helen Jude of Parkersburg. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie O'Dell, one sister, and three brothers. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Donzel Wease and Rev. Glendon McKee officiating. Burial was in Parkersburg Memorial Gardens.

Dortha G. Osborne, 70, of Stumptown, died Thursday, July 28, 1994, at University Medical Center, Columbus, after an extended illness. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Omar and Monnie Williams Godfrey. She was retired from McGraw Edison Corp., Baltimore, Md. Surviving are one sister, Geraldine Godfrey of Akron. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Osborne. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Robey Godfrey officiating. Burial was in Collins cemetery, Stumptown.

Thomas Webster Parfitt, 67, of Lake Wylie, S.C., formerly of Spencer, died Sunday, Apr. 10, 1994, at his residence after an extended illness. He was born in Meigs County, Ohio, a son of the late Thomas Webster and Florence B. Queen Parfitt II. He was a retired oil field driller and a Baptist. Surviving are his wife, Mary Casto Parfitt; three sons, Anthony Ray Parfitt and Thomas Wayne Parfitt, both of the home, and Russell Talmadge Parfitt of Kent, Ohio; two daughters, Angela Marie Wallace of Jenkinjones and Patricia Lee Smith of Reedy; two stepsons, William Richard Isaac and Randall Evan Isaac, both of Spencer; one stepdaughter, Lynda Parfitt of Ohio; two step brothers, John Parfitt and Harry Parfitt, both of Nelsonville, Ohio; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews in Calhoun County. Joseph Parsons, 85, of Munday, died Saturday, Mar. 5, 1994, at Roane General Hospital, after an extended illness. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Henry C. and Lucy Tucker Parsons. He was a retired farmer. Surviving are three sons, Teddy Parsons, Dalton Parsons, and Henry Parsons, all of Munday; two brothers, Manford Parsons of Elizabeth and Everett Parsons of Petroleum; three sisters, Ocie Cottrill of Elizabeth, Vada Reip of Orma and Emily Cottrill of Pennsylvania; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gathie Parsons, in 1982, two daughters, four sisters, and four brothers. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Susie J. Perrine, 83, of Shock, died Saturday, July 16, 1994, at her home after an extended illness. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Charles E. and Sarah Cottrell Riffle. She retired from Spencer State Hospital as a psychiatric aide with more than 17 years of service. She was a homemaker. Surviving are a daughter, Gerry Moore of Lockney; a son, Nelson Duane Riffle of Shock; two brothers Thomas Riffle of Massillon, Ohio, and Nelson Riffle of Ypsilanti, Mich, and six grandchildren. Gladys Ruth Pitts, 83, of Charleston, died Friday, Jan. 21, 1994, at New Martinsville Health Care Center, after an extended illness. She was born in Tyler County, a daughter of the late L. G. and Orpha Cain Pitts. She was a graduate of Doddridge County High School and Parkersburg Business College. She was retired from Crown Supply Co., Charleston, and was a member of Baptist Temple, Charleston. Surviving are two brothers, L. G. "Jack" Pitts and Donald M. Pitts, both of Grantsville; and two sisters, Marguerite Dykeman of Lindside and Orpha Lee Blackmer of Belleview, Fla. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Merl Place, 83, of Belmont, died Thurdsay, July 21, 1994, at St. Joseph's Hospital after a short illness. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Frank and Victoria Reip. She was a homemaker and member of Pleasants County Senior Citizens and Centenary Methodist Church, Cutler. She attended Belmont Baptist Church. She is survived by three sons, Donald Place of St. Marys, Larry Place of Valencia, Calif., and Michael Place of Dayton; two daughters, Thelma Cooper of Brookings, Ore., and Ruth Roberts of Parkersburg; 15 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Place, in 1984; two infant sons, Jimmy Place and Joe Place; and three sisters, Goldie Reip, Maude Reip, and Edith Reip. Services were held at Spencer Funeral Home, Belpre, with Rev. Brian Weber officiating. Burial was in Centenary cemetery, Cutler.

Allen H. Pritt, 45, of Kanawha Drive, near Glenville, died from injuries sustained in a work-related accident, Tuesday, Feb. 15, 1994, in Clare, Mich. He was born in Gilmer County, a son of Ruby Lamb Pritt of Glenville, and the late Ralph Pritt. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a truck driver for Carl E. Smith, Inc., Sandyville. He was a Baptist. Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Carolyn Wood Pritt; one son, Allen Shawn Pritt, of Chloe; four daughters, Cheryl Pritt and Charlotte Pritt, both of Chloe, Carrie DeBoard and Casey Pritt, both of Glenville; one sister, June Carr of Glenville; and two brothers, David Pritt of Glenville and Terry Pritt of Sand Fork. Services were held at Ellyson Mortuary, Glenville, with Rev. Kenny Fisher officiating. Burial was in Rhoades cemetery, Glenville.

Edna R. Propst, 76, of Grantsville, died Friday, Feb. 4, 1994, at her residence after an extended illness. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late William and Fay Hickman Kelley. She was a homemaker, and a member of First Baptist Church, Grantsville, Surviving are three sons, Roger Propst and Jim Propst, both of Grantsville, and Ronald Propst of Beckley; one sister, Mildred Bell of Grantsville; one brother, Gray Kelley of Grantsville; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Propst, in 1952; and two sisters, Ethel Berdine and Dale Riux. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Charlene Radabaugh, 20, of New Philadelphia, Ohio, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 1994, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was born Oct. 1, 1973, in Grantsville, a daughter of Delmas Radabaugh of New Philadelphia and Betty Rogers Radabaugh of Parkersburg. She was a 1991 graduate of New Philadelphia High School where she was a member of Young Business Leaders, choir, after-school bowling program, drama club, and V.I.P. business program, and was an athletic office assistant. She was employed at C.M.A. Manufacturing, Boliver. In addition to her parents, she is survived by two brothers, Delmas Burton Radabaugh of Chloe and Randy Radabaugh of Cleveland, Ohio; four step-sisters, Mrs. Allen (Melissa) Stotzer of Mineral City, Mrs. Michael (Debbie) Doggett of Gaithersburg, Md., Becky Fleer of Somerset and Peggy Fleer of Delaware, Oh.; six aunts; eight uncles; three nieces; and four nephews. Services were held at Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home, New Philadelphia, with Rev. John Campbell officiating. Graveside services were held at Nobe Chapel Baptist Church cemetery with Rev. Fred Basnett, Jr., officiating. Burial was in Nobe cemetery.
