PEARL LUELLA DAWSON

Pearl Luella Dawson, 94 of Augusta, WV died Thursday, October 21, 2004 at Hampshire Health Care Center, Romney, WV.

She was born June 16, 1910 in Arthur, WV to the late Martin B. Turner and Sarah E. (VanFleet) Turner.

Her husband, Calvin Lloyd Dawson, preceded her in death on July 5, 1948. Three brothers, Blaine Turner, Homer Turner and Lloyd Turner also preceded her in death.

She formerly worked as a clerk at the Hampshire Jewelry Store in Romney.

Mrs. Dawson was a member of the Romney First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two sons, William E. Nealis of Romney and James R. Dawson of Augusta; one daughter, Evelyn E. Whitlock of Gore, VA; two brothers, Emory Turner of Cumberland, MD and C. L. "Joe" Turner of Winchester, VA; one sister, Ruth Hankins of Charles Town, WV; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Friends and family will be received at the Shaffer-Warnick Funeral Home, Romney on Saturday, October 23, 2004 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted on Sunday, October 24, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at the Shaffer-Warnick Funeral Home, Romney with Dr. Roy Knight officiating.

Interment will be at Ebenezer cemetery, Romney, WV.

Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Warnick Funeral Home, Romney, WV.

ELLIS 'DOLL' MARKWOOD DAWSON

Ellis “Doll” Markwood Dawson, 83, of Romney, WV died Friday, October 22, 2004 at the Nice and Cozy Nursing Home, Slanesville, WV.

He was born on March 8, 1921 at Hubbard, WV to the late Raymond Cyrill and Zella Margaret (Hannas) Dawson.

A son, Roger Lee Dawson in 1976 preceded him in death along with three brothers, Thomas Dawson, James Dawson and Harley Dawson and two sisters, Frances Dawson and Annabelle Bain.

Mr. Dawson was a retired heavy equipment driver and transporter with the WV Department of Highways with 25 years and 11 months of service.

He was a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Romney, WV.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey (Ganoe) Dawson of Romney; two sons James Ellis Dawson of Romney and Raymond “Mark” Dawson and wife, Lori of Romney; five daughters Gloria Jean Dean of Highview, WV, Brenda Gail Malek and fiancé Bud of Inwood, Betty Ann Jones and husband, Bill of Inwood, Wanda See and husband, Donnie of Romney, and Judy Nealis and husband, Wayne of Romney; one brother, John Dawson of Newark, NJ; four sisters, Mary Haines of Winchester, VA, Margaret Moreland of Romney, Barbara Crane of Whitacre, VA and Irene Horn of Arlington, TX; 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Shaffer-Warnick Funeral Home, Romney on Sunday, October 24, 2004 from 3:00 – 5:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.

A funeral service will be Monday, October 25, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Romney with Pastor David Simmons officiating where friends will be received one hour prior to the service at 10:00 a.m.

Interment will be at Ebenezer cemetery, Romney.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, Inc., 2015 Boyd Orchard Court, Martinsburg, WV 25401.

Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Warnick Funeral Home, Romney, WV.

GARY LEE GANOE

Gary Lee Ganoe, 58, of Romney, WV died Wednesday, October 27, 2004 at his residence in Romney, WV.

He was born January 9, 1946 in Romney, WV to the late Arthur W. "Babe" and Edna Frances (Maphis) Ganoe.

In addition to his parents, one foster son, Billy Ganoe preceded him in death.

Mr. Ganoe was employed for 21 years at the Kinney Shoe Factory in Romney. He was a childcare worker and bus driver for the West Virginia Schools for the Deaf and Blind. He was also a bus driver for the Hampshire County Headstart.

He was a member of the Romney Nazarene Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth (High) Ganoe of Romney; one son, Robert Lee Ganoe and wife, Salli of Romney; two daughters, Lisa-Marie Ganoe of Romney and Tina Louise Ganoe of Bristow, VA; four foster sons, J.D. of Morgantown, WV, Raymond of Romney, Richie and wife, Tara of Romney and Joey of Arizona; one sister, Ruth Y. Ganoe of Romney; two grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and many good friends and co-workers.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 29, 2004 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the Shaffer-Warnick Funeral Home, Romney.

A funeral service will be Saturday, October 30, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Shaffer-Warnick Funeral Home with Pastor Ken Smith officiating.

Interment will be at Robert High cemetery in Purgitsville, WV.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 2015 Boyd Orchard Court, Martinsburg, WV.

Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Warnick Funeral Home, Romney, WV.

STELLA SHANHOLTZER MCDONALD

Stella Shanholtzer McDonald, 93, of Winchester, VA formerly of Romney, WV died Wednesday, October 27, 2004 at the residence of her daughter in Laurel, MD.

She was born November 13, 1910 in Romney, WV to the late Alonzo Elmer and Cora E. (Carder) Shanholtzer.

She is preceded in death by two sons, Albert Glenn "Bill" McDonald and Norman L. McDonald; one daughter Betty R. Raines; two brothers, Lonny Melvin Shanholtzer and Owen "Buddy" Shanholtzer; three sisters, Floey Leona Shanholtzer, Eithel O. Shanholtzer and Avery Shingleton.

Mrs. McDonald was retired from a dry cleaning service in Winchester, VA.

She attended the First Presbyterian Church of Winchester, VA

She is survived by one daughter, Faye M. Boyer of Laurel, MD and four grandchildren and three step-great-granchildren.

The family will receive friends Saturday, October 30, 2004 from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. at the Shaffer-Warnick Funeral Home in Romney, WV.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, October 30, 2004 at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home following the visitation with the Rev. Douglas N. Shepherd officiating.

Interment will be at the Old Bethel cemetery, Romney, WV.

Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Warnick Funeral Home, Romney, WV.

WALLACE THEODORE MORELAND

Wallace "Wally" Theodore Moreland, 65, of Springs, PA formerly of Levels, WV died Thursday, October 28, 2004 at the Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown, PA.

He was born March 7, 1939 in Levels, WV to the late Chester Theodore and Della Catherine (Lewis) Moreland.

He is preceded in death by one brother, Hetzel Moreland and one grandchild.

Mr. Moreland owned and operated Moreland Construction, Springs, PA. He had previously been employed by Kelly Springfield Tire Co., Cumberland, MD for 23 years. Mr. Moreland graduated from Romney High School in the Class of 1958.

He is survived by his wife, Lois M. (Gordon) Moreland; three sons, Mark D. Moreland, Springfield, WV, Andrew S. Moreland, Capon Springs, WV and Randal R. Moreland, Ft. Ashby, WV; two step-daughters, Carrie M. Pannone, Cumberland, MD and Barbara A. Layton, Cumberland, MD; one step-son, David L. Easton, Salisbury, PA; two brothers Adrian L. Moreland, Winchester, VA and and five step-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 7-9 p.m. at the Shaffer-Warnick Funeral Home, Romney.

The funeral will be Sunday, October 31, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at the Shaffer-Warnick Funeral Home, Romney, WV with Mr. Daniel Dennison presiding. Interment will be at Levels cemetery, Levels, WV.

Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Warnick Funeral Home, Romney, WV.

LAURA MAE HINES

Laura Mae Hines, 73, of Romney, WV died Saturday, October 2, 2004 at the Hampshire Health Care Center in Romney.

She was born November 25, 1930 at McNeil, WV to the late Rufus C. and Nellie Bell (Bean) Zirk.

Her husband, James Martin Hines preceded her in death on July 17, 1984. She was also preceded in death by Grandson, Cameron A. Hott, three brothers, Rufus D. Zirk, Ernest C. Zirk and Lawrence R. Zirk and one sister, Pauline K. Dennis.

She was retired from the West Virginia Schools for the Deaf and Blind.

Mrs. Hines was a member of the First Baptist Church of Romney, American Legion Auxiliary Hampshire Unit 91, Salon 700 8 & 40 of American Legion Unit 91, Friends of the Library of Romney and Long Term Volunteer of Hampshire Memorial Hospital, Romney.

She is survived by one son, Roger Dale Hines of Pamplin, VA; three daughters, Judy Hott of Slanesville, WV, Debbie Ann Campbell of Greenbay, VA and Karen Sue Hines of Romney, WV; two brothers, Roy A. Zirk of Fredricksburg, VA and Ivan M. Zirk of Wilmington, NC; two sisters, Dorothy M. Wolford of Manassas, VA and Brenda Bell Cornwell of Manassas, VA; one grandson, James Joseph Hines of Pamplin, VA; and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a special friend, her little dog, Amos.

The family will receive friends Monday, October 4, 2004 from 2-4 and 7- 9 p.m. at the Shaffer-Warnick Funeral Home, Romney, WV.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 5, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at the Shaffer-Warnick Funeral Home, Romney, WV with the Pastor David Curry officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Warnick Funeral Home, Romney, WV.

CHARLES MYERS CRAVER

Charles Myers Craver, 80, Romney, WV died Monday, June 7, 2004 at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, VA.

Born August 13, 1923 at Scaggsville, MD to the late Charles Dorsey and Viola Isabelle (Iager) Craver. Preceded in death by his sister, Jeanette Dean.

Mr. Craver was employed as a carpenter with Potomac Eagle Trains.

He was a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Jersey Mountain Ruritan Club where he served as President for three years. Mr. Craver was a WWII Army Veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Virginia (Smith) Craver, Romney, WV; three sons, Charles D. Craver, Cummings, GA, Terry Lee Craver, Herndon, VA, and Ronald L. Craver, Harpers Ferry, WV; one daughter, Karen Jean Purvis, Shipman, VA; one sister, Shirley P. Blaney, Dayton, MD; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received Wednesday, June 9, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Shaffer-Warnick Funeral Home, Romney, WV.

Services will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2004 11 a.m. at the Shaffer-Warnick Funeral Home, Romney, WV with Mr. Fred Roy presiding.

Internment will be at Ebenezer cemetery, Romney, WV where military services will be accorded by the Combined Veteran Organizations of Hampshire County.

Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Warnick Funeral Home, Romney, WV.

RONALD RAY McDERMEIT, SR

Ronald Ray McDermeit, Sr., 42, of Romney, WV, died Monday, June 14, 2004 at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, VA.

Born November 25, 1961 in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota to the late Alvin Richard and Mary E. (Duncan) McDermeit.

Mr. McDermeit worked as a carpenter with local contractors.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Ann McDermeit, son, Ronald Ray McDermeit, Jr., Romney, WV, two daughters, Misty Dawn McDermeit, Romney, WV and Catrina Nicole Collis, Petersburg, WV, two sisters, Betsy Rose, Romney, WV and Patricia Ayers, Shanks, WV, and one grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Warnick Funeral Home, Romney, WV.

HARRY RUSSELL POST

Harry Russell Post, 57, of Romney, WV, died Wednesday, June 16, 2004 at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, VA.

Born September 23, 1946 at Clarksburg, WV and was the son of the late Harry C. and Gladys E. (Freeman) Post.

Mr. Post was a Field Representative with the Department of Agriculture for the State of West Virginia where he recently retired after 35 years due to health reasons.

He was a member of the Covenant Baptist Church, Romney where he previously served as church Deacon and President of Sunday School. He was a graduate of Fairmont State University, a member of the National Rifle Association and the Lehigh Hunting Club, Burlington, WV.

He is survived by his wife, Susan (Snyder) Post, Romney, WV, son, Jason Russell Post, Romney, WV, sister, Elizabeth Cheyanne Scott and brother-in-law, Joseph, Westminster, SC.

Friends will be received Friday, June 18, 2004 at Shaffer-Warnick Funeral Home, Romney, WV, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

Services will be held Saturday, June 19, 2004 starting at 11 AM at the Covenant Baptist Church, Romney, WV where friends will be received at 10 AM, one hour prior to the service. Pastor Quentin B. Simpson will be presiding.

Internment will be at Rockford United Methodist Church cemetery, Rockford, WV where graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM on June 19, 2004.

Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Warnick Funeral Home, Romney, WV.
