THEODORE F. KROKUS
OAKTON, Va. - Theodore Frederick Krokus, 60, a naval engineer who served his country with the Department of the Navy, Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) for 36 years, died of complications from lupus on Jan. 19, 1999, at Inova Fairfax Hospital.
During his career he was recognized as a specialist on lubrication and pumping systems for various combatants, including nuclear submarines. He was a member of the American Society of Naval Engineers and the American Society for Testing and Materials.
Mr. Krokus was the owner of Apex Farms, raising purebred Angus cattle in Lahmansville, W.Va. Mr. Krokus was chosen Grant County Conservation Farmer of the Year in 1983. He was awarded the Top Angus Sire Group in 1986 and 1993. His cattle earned him national recognition.
Mr. Krokus, a resident of Oakton and of Lahmansville, W.Va., was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., of Lutheran faith, and attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Lou Sites Krokus, Oakton; his daughter, Pamela Ann, son-in-law, Greg Pica; granddaughter Brooke Lou; and step-grandsons, Paul Anthony and Phillip Thomas, Stafford; mother-in-law, Pauline Sites, Dorcas, W.Va.; and numerous nieces; nephews; sisters-in-law; and brothers-in-law. He is also survived by a sister, Ann Marie, Pittsboro, N.C.; and two brothers, Robert, Arlington, and John, Boulder City, Nev.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Petersburg High School Scholarship Fund, 18 N. Main St., Petersburg, WV 26847.
TWILLIA K. KUHLMANN
KEYSER, W.VA. - Twillia Kay "Ethel" (Moss) Kuhlmann, 51, of Keyser, formerly of Portsmouth, Va., died Friday, Sept. 10, 1999, at the home of her daughter in Oakland, Md.
Born on June 16, 1948, Portsmouth, Va., she was the daughter of the late Carl Hugh and Rachel Mobra (Gainer) Moss. She was also preceded in death by three brothers.
Ms. Kuhlmann was formerly employed as a secretary and legal advocate with the Family Crisis Center in Keyser. She attended the Church of God, Keyser, and was also a member of the Chapter 191. Women of the Moose, Keyser.
Surviving are one daughter, Kimberly A. "Tina" (Kuhlmann) Skiles and husband Greg, Oakland., one son, William C.A. "Billy" Kuhlmann, Jr., Keyser, W.Va.; one stepson, William Christopher Wood, Decatur, Ill.; two brothers, Ronald D. Moss, Suffolk, Va., Robert E. Moss, Ind.; seven sisters, Isabelle Timmons, Sumter, S.C., Betty Fleshman, Mableton, Ga., Jolane Ball, Wendell, N.C., Sharon Moss, Wendell, N.C., Mary Taylor, Sherrodsville, Ohio, Virginia Fulcher, Portsmouth, Va., Janet Moss, Parkersburg, W.Va.; and one grandson, Christopher Tyler Gardner.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, W.Va., on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Monday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Daniel Sears officiating.
Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.

OLD FIELDS, W.Va. - Kathy Carmella Hartman, 31, of Old Fields, passed away , Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 25, 1967, in Petersburg, she was the daughter of Lester and Mary Alice (Turner) Hyre, of Old Fields.
Surviving in addition to her parents, one son, Christopher Hartman, at home; two daughters, Jackilyn and Heather Hartman, at home; one brother, Bryan Hyre, of Old Fields; and one sister, Cheryl Oliver, of Moorefield, W.Va.
Friends may call at the Fraley Funeral Home, Moorefield, Monday after 2 p.m. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Old Fields Baptist Church, Old Fields, on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ken Owens, officiating.
Burial will follow with a Committal Service to held at 1 p.m. in the Lahmansville cemetery, Lahmansville, W.Va.

JUNE T. HIGSON
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - June Tessiatore Higson, 29, of Winston-Salem, died Thursday, April 29, 1999, at Forsyth Medical Center during childbirth.
Born March 25, 1970, in Lynchburg, Va., she was the daughter of John Tessiatore, Lynchburg, and Jewel (Bean) Tessiatore Reed, Charleston, W.Va.
Mrs. Higson was a Research Specialist for Carolina Clinical Research. She was a 1987 graduate of Charleston High School, Charleston, and received her bachelor of science degree in Biology from West Virginia University in 1993. At that time, she also received her bachelor of arts degree in Dance. She had resided in the Winston-Salem area for six years, and she had attended Holy Family Catholic Church.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, are her husband, Theodore S. ``Ted" Higson; one son, Ike Tessiatore Higson; her stepfather, Mark Reed, Charleston; one sister, Julie Tessiatore, Charleston; father and mother-in-law, Ted and Mary Jane Higson, Cumberland; brothers-in-law, Frederick J. Higson and wife, Juanita, Cumberland, E. Ike Jariel, Vienna, Va., Jeremy A. Buelow, Cumberland, Jeffrey M. Higson, Cumberland; two nieces, Lynette Johnson and Lindsay Higson; maternal grandparents, Frank and Geneva (McFarland) Veltri, Charleston; and grandmother-in-law, Mrs. Maxine (Snyder) Seward, Cumberland.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian Wake service will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 9 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Fr. Milton A. Hipsley as celebrant.
A memorial service is being planned by the family to be held in Charleston at a later date.

ROBERT E. KUHN
NEW CREEK, W.Va. - Robert E. Kuhn, 58, of New Creek, died Sunday, May 2, 1999, in McCoole, Md.
Born on May 29, 1940, at Cameron, W.Va., he was a son of the late James Bernard and Sadie (Price) Kuhn. Mr. Kuhn was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann (Lambert) Kuhn, on Nov. 9, 1976.
Mr. Kuhn was employed in the finishing department of the Westvaco Luke Mill for 37 years. He was a 1958 graduate of Keyser High School.
Surviving are a close companion, Betty Jean ``Tude" McClintock, McCoole; two sons, Robert E. Kuhn II, Asheboro, N.C., and Mark C. Kuhn, Kearneysville, W.Va.; one brother, Gary A. Kuhn, Montgomery, Ala.; one sister, Laura McIe, College Station, Texas; and three grandchildren, Justin, Evin and Gemma Kuhn. Also surviving are the children and grandchildren of Betty Jean McClintock who thought of him as their father and ``Pappy Kuhn:" James, Donald and Susan McClintock and Cynthia Lewis.

GARLAND B. KITZMILLER JR.
MOUNT STORM, W.Va. - Garland B. "Sonny" Kitzmiller Jr., 57, of Mount Storm, died on Saturday, March 20, 1999, at the Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown.
Born on May 8, 1941, in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of the late Garland B. and Mildred V. (Moreland) Kitzmiller Sr.
He was a graduate of the Bayard High School, "Class of 1961." He was a self-employed farmer. He was a friend to all animals and a dedicated bus driver for Grant County Schools for 21 years. He also was a member of the Mount Storm Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his "special" family of Carol and Laurie (Kitzmiller) Hartman, Chesapeake, Va.; Ronnie Kitzmilller, Mount Storm; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He will be greatly missed by co-workers and students at Union Educational Complex.
Friends will be received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, Md., on Sunday, March 21, 1999, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Mount Storm United Methodist Church on Monday, March 22, 1999, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Shelba Sisler and the Rev. Ivan Ackerman officiating.
