Virgil Ferrell, 65, of Phelps, Ky., died Friday, March 29, 2002, at the South Williamson Appalachian Regional Hospital.
Born June 29, 1936, at Pikeville, Ky., he was the son of the late Malon and Didenia Damron Ferrell.
He was a boiler maker, Army veteran, and a member of the Phelps Free Pentecostal Church.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Dotson Ferrell; a daughter, Mary Hensley of Phelps; three brothers, Randall Ferrell of Port Deposit, Md., Elmer Ferrell of Jackson, Ohio and Jeff Ray of Birmingham, Ala.; a sister, Mary Syck of Pikeville; and a granddaughter, Kearstin Hensley.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at the Phelps Chapel of R.S. Jones and Son Funeral Home with Rev. William Cornn officiating. Burial will follow at the Howell Cemetery in Island Creek, Ky.
Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Sunday, March 31, 2002 at the funeral home, with special services at 7 p.m.
Audrey Glandon
Audrey "Aud" Glandon, 81, of Bruno, died Friday, March 29, 2002, at his home.
Born June 20, 1920, at Proctor, he was the son of the late Tom and Maude Carter Glandon.
He was a retired coal miner, a member of the UMWA, and an Army veteran of World War II, in which he fought in Burma and China. He was of the Pentecostal faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 40 years, Alberta Duntee Glandon; two brothers, Earl and Dale Glandon; and a sister, Golda Goodman.
He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Brenda Stacy Glandon of Bruno; three sons, Thomas Glandon of Fayetteville, N.C., Terry Glandon of Loredo, and Cecil Glandon of the home; two daughters, Lowana Peters of White sville and Angie Johnson of Whitman; a brother, Johnie Glandon of Bruno; four sisters, Odessa Johnson and Janis Ellis, both of Bruno, Samantha Trent of Man and Josie Estep of Chicago, Ill.; two grandchildren, Angie Lay of St. Albans and Jamie Peters of Alko; a grandson, Zachary Johnson of Whitman; a step-grandson, Daniel Collins of Accoville; and two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Jeremy Lay, both of St. Albans.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2002, at the Bruno Church of God with the Revs. Roger Frye and Ronald McCoy officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens at Pecks Mill.
Active pallbearers will be Roger White , Craig Brumfield, Johnie Glandon, Jr., Michael Ellis, Harmon Ellis, Jr. and Billy Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be James Trent, Herbert "Peanut" Grimmette, Yank Williamson, Jerry Toler, Mack Altizer and Danny Gibson.
military graveside services will be performed by the Wyoming County Honor Guard of Oceana.
Visitation will be from 6 to 11 p.m. Sunday, March 31, 2002, at the Church.

Doffie Lawson
Doffie Tilden Lawson, 72, of Redford, Mich., died Thursday, March 28, 2002, in White hall of Novi, Novi, Mich.
Born May 7, 1929, at Nolan, he was a son of the late Tilden and Phoebe Murphy Lawson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Lawson; twin sister, Doris Hess; three brothers, Paul, Basil and Jim Bo Lawson.
He was a machinist and U.S. Navy veteran. He attended Rouge Freewill Baptist Church and was an ordained deacon and gospel singer.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta Robinette Lawson; son, James Tilden Lawson of Redford, Mich.; a daughter, Susan Pedersen of Beloit, Wis.; sisters May Eurione, Helen Rader of Alberquerque, N.M., and Bessie Ellis of Dayton, Ohio; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at Rogers Funeral Home, with the Rev. Danny Slater officiating.
Burial will follow at the Robinette Family Cemetery at Turkey Creek, Ky.
Pallbearers will be Wesley Dillon, Glen Dillon, Walace Robinette, Chester Robinette, Ben Maynard, and Gregory Maynard.

Creedy Rogers, 93, of Pinsonfork, Ky., died Friday, March 29, 2002, in Chesapeake, Va.

Betty Marcum
Betty Ruth Marcum, 51, of South Point, Ohio, died Friday, March 29, 2002, in St. Mary's Hospital, Huntington.
Born April 17, 1950, she was a daughter of the late Ernest Dean Sr. and Gertrude White Dean.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a granddaughter, Erin Paige Sparks.
She was a homemaker and member of the Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Naugatuck.
Survivors include her husband, Donald Marcum; two sons, Ernest (Amy) Marcum, Claude (Erica) Marcum; two daughters, Crystal Marcum and Patricia (Timothy) Sparks; three grandchildren, Savannah Dawn Marcum of South Point and Brianna Lynn and Justin Lee Thomas Marcum, both of Lexington; five brothers, Ernest Dean, Jr. of Naugatuck, David Dean of Fort Gay, Willard Lambert of Lenore, Donald Dean of Delbarton and Bobby Dale Dean of Charleston, S.C.; six sisters, Nyoka Crank of Naugatuck, Geraldine Newsome and Aileen Hinkle, both of Delbarton, Martha Gail Porter of Nolan and Madeline and Drema Marcum, both of South Point.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at Weaver Mortuary, with Rev. Curt Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Marcum Cemetery in Dumlow.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Edna Vinson
Edna "Granny" Curry Vinson, 95, of Elk Creek, in Delbarton, passed away Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, in the Logan General Hospital.
Born March 30, 1906, in Bias, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Lucinda Curry.
She was also preceded in death by her stepmother, Sarah Carey Curry.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Leck Vinson and son Evert Vinson; brothers, Lloyd, Boyd and Monroe Curry; sisters, Jane Murphy and Lucinda Blankenship; half-brothers, Wilburn, Ance, Woodrow, Grover and Virgil Curry; half-sisters Annie Runyon and Fannie Sipple.
She was a loving mother and granny to all who knew her. She operated a small country store on Elk Creek for more than 40 years. She loved and was loved by all who knew her. She was a member of the Sardis Old Regular Baptist Church of Delbarton.
She is survived by her son Floyd Curry Vinson of Elk Creek; daughters, Flossie Irene Estep of Chattaroy and Lucy Helen Aliff of Garrettsville, Ohio; special grandson, William (Kimberly) Vinson of Elk Creek; granddaughter, Beauta Degenero of Ohio, and Barbara Mullins of North Carolina; special niece, Lillian Campbell of Varney; and 26 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, and 20 great-great grandchildren.
Nieces, nephews and special friends along the way during her life, they were special to her.
Funeral services will be held at the Sardis Old Regular Baptist Church on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, at noon with Elder Billy Brumfield officiating.
Burial will follow in the Curry/Farley Cemetery at Elk Creek.
Pallbearers will be friends and family. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held at the Chafin Funeral Home at Delbarton from 6-9 p.m. Monday with special services starting at 7 p.m.
Gladys Gibson
Gladys E. Gibson, 78, of Pikeville, Ky., died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001, in Mayfield, Ky.
Born Dec. 9, 1922, in Sycamore, Ky., she was a daughter of the late Bruce and Dixie Coleman Gibson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bruce Gibson, Jr.
She was a housewife and a member of the Frozen Creek Old Regular Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Lillian Thacker of Mayfield; two sisters, Ruby Thacker of Virgie and Nancy Charlan of Hazel Park, Mich.; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5, at the Frozen Creek Old Regular Baptist Church with ministers Ted Honaker, Herman West and others officiating.
Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery in Pikeville, Ky.
Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4, at the Thacker Memorial Funeral Home in Pikeville.
Dana Daniels
Dana Laura Daniels, 73, of Blackberry City, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, in Saint Mary's Hospital in Huntington.
Born March 31, 1928, in Freeburn, Ky., she was a daughter of the late Ferrell Coleman and Helen Frances Marcum.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Randy Daniels, and two grandsons, Douglas Allen and Blaine Kamalli.
She was a homemaker, a wonder wife and mother, and was of the Holiness faith.
Survivors include one son, David Daniels of Honolulu, Hawaii; four daughters, Helen Edwards of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Kathy Wolford, Rhonda Simpkins and Teresa Allen, all of Huntington; one sister, Della Ray Maynard of Tennessee; a cousin, Sandra Keaton of Columbus, Ohio; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 7, at the Chambers Funeral Home in Matewan, with ministers Johnny Gooslin and Ronnie Wolford officiating.
Burial will follow in the Mountain View Memory Gardens at Huddy, Ky.
Grandsons and sons-in-law will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6, with special services at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
