PAW PAW, W.Va. - Shannon R. Whitacre, 83, of Route 1, Box 35, Paw Paw, died Sunday, Aug. 30, 1998, at his residence.
Mr. Whitacre was born on Sept. 6, 1914, in Hampshire County, a son of the late Arch V. and Alice Slonaker Whitacre.
He had retired after 26 years as a plant engineer at Schmidt's Baking Company, Cumberland, Md.
He was a member and served as a deacon at the Mount Union Christian Church in Slanesville.
He was a member of United Commercial Travelers in Cumberland.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II.
Mr. Whitacre was married
to Nancy Bailey on Dec. 21, 1937, in Winchester, Va.
Surviving with his wife are a son, Clyde R. Whitacre and his wife, Bonnie, Cumberland; five brothers, Lloyd Whitacre, Chauncy Whitacre, Garland Whitacre and Tony Whitacre, all of Paw Paw, and Elwood Whitacre, Berkeley Springs; five grandchildren, Billie Jenkins, Tina Jenkins, Julia Tallus, Kenneth C. Whitacre Jr., and Noell Scott Whitacre; 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth C. Whitacre; two brothers; and three sisters.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 1, at the Giffin Funeral Home in Capon Bridge.
A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, Sept. 2, at 2 p.m. at the Mount Union Christian Church in Slanesville. Officiating will be Roger Tuning, Minister. Interment will be in the Woodrow cemetery, Paw Paw.
Pallbearers are Billie Jenkins, Kenneth C. Whitacre Jr., Noell Scott Whitacre, Robert Arnold, Clyde Noland and Tommy Thorne.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mount Union Christian Church or to the Paw Paw Public Library.

AURORA, W.Va. - Otha Tracy White, 83, of Aurora, died Sunday, Dec. 20, 1998, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland, Md.
Born Feb. 15, 1915, he was a son of the late Grover C. White and Mable E. (Hartman) White.
Mr. White was a retired sawyer.
Surviving are his wife, Deloris (Cole) White; one son, Michael White, Oakland; three daughters, Carolyn White, Reisterstown, Ann Wallace, Columbus, Ohio, and Patricia Marsh, Cleveland, Ohio; three stepsons, Robert Liston and Jack Liston, both of Fairfax, Va., and Michael Cole, Terra Alta; two stepdaughters, Ada King, Pittsburgh, and Betty Warnick, Oakland; one brother, Argyl White, Deluth, Wisc.; two sisters, Virginia Stonaker, Elkins, and Glenda Bucklew, Tampa, Fla.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.
Friends may call at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Stanley Waybright officiating.
Interment will be in Garrett County Memorial Gardens.
The family suggests that memorials be directed to the Garrett County Memorial Hospital Foundation.

CARPENDALE, W.Va. - Jason Lloyd Yaider Jr., infant, of Carpendale, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 1998, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown.
Born Jan. 27, 1998, in Morgantown, he was the son of Jason Lloyd Yaider and Renee Lynn (Combs) Yaider, Carpendale.
Surviving are his maternal grandmother, Malinda Combs, Cumberland, Md.; paternal grandparents, Calvin Lloyd Yaider II and Mary Gough, both of Carpendale; paternal great-grandmother, Evelyn Lindner, Carpendale; four aunts; five uncles; and eleven cousins.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Harold Shaffer officiating.
BELLEVUE, Wash. - Blanche Mona (Colaw) Ashby Yutzy, 79, of 4858 123rd Place, SE, Newport Hills, Bellevue, died Friday, May 1, 1998, at her residence.
Born Nov. 8, 1918, in Union District, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Ernest F. Colaw Sr. and Blanche (Burger) Colaw. She also was preceded in death by her first husband, Leslie I. Ashby, in 1962.
Mrs. Yutzy was a homemaker.
She formerly worked as a secretary for the B&O; Railroad.
She was a member of the Eckhart United Methodist Church and the Rebecca Arnold Chapter 57 Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are her husband, Jonas B. Yutzy; one daughter, Sharon Davis and husband Dennis, Grand Blanc, Mich.; one son, Robert L. Ashby and wife Sharon, Frostburg, Md.; two stepchildren, Margaret Yutzy, Sacramento, Calif., and Robert Yutzy and wife Carol, Redding, Calif.; two sisters, Dahlia Barrett and Doris Stoops, both of Frostburg; one brother, Donald R. Colaw, Crellin, Md.; and four grandchildren, Robert and Mark Ashby, Brian and Christina Davis.
Mrs. Yutzy was cremated in Washington.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.
A memorial service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. George M. Harpold officiating.
Inurnment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
The family requests that memorials be directed to a charitable health organization of the donor's choice.
MARILYN L. ZILER
GREAT CACAPON, W.Va. - Marilyn L. Ziler, 67, of Great Cacapon, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 1998, at her residence.
Born Nov. 28, 1930, in Paw Paw, she was the daughter of the late Carl Bowers and Vesta L. (Leach) Sharp, of Berkeley Springs. She also was preceded in death by her husband William L. Ziler, in January 1994; and one grandchild.
Mrs. Ziler was a member of the Paw Paw United Methodist Church; AARP; and Paw Paw Ladies Auxiliary 128 American Legion.
Surviving are one daughter, Connie Boutot and husband Ron, Great Cacapon; two sisters, Elma K. Kesler, Largent and Jean F. Clark, Paw Paw; five grandchildren, William S. Whitehead, Michael Whitehead, Shane M. Whitehead, Jacilyn Harris and Coda J. Whitehead; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the Paw Paw United Methodist Church on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the church on Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Nancy Ward officiating.
