IRENE E. ABE
FORT ASHBY, W.Va. - Irene Elizabeth Abe, 87, of Dawn View Manor Nursing Home, formerly of Ridgeley, died Wednesday, March 26, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born May 14, 1909, in Ridgeley, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Anna (Miller) Valentine. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin C. Abe.

Mrs. Abe was retired from the dietary department at Memorial Hospital. She was Protestant by faith, and a member of the Woodmen of the World.

Surviving are three daughters, Eleanor Abbott, Glen Burnie, Md., Jeanetta Lloyd and husband David, Brocklin Park, Md., and Nedra Ruckman, Killeen, Texas; three sons, Ronald Abe and wife Betty, Beans Cove, Pa., Richard Abe and wife Carol, Fort Ashby, and Walter Abe and wife Donna, Ridgeley; one brother, Charles Valentine, Short Gap; two sisters, Gladys Long, Beans Cove, Pa., and Ethel Shertzer, Lancaster, Pa.; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Oscar Ohler officiating.

Interment will be in Fort Ashby cemetery.

FRANKLIN A. DAVIS SR.
KIRBY, W.Va. - Franklin Arnold Davis Sr., 70, of Kirby, died Sunday, April 20, 1997, at Hampshire Memorial Hospital.
Born May 24, 1926, in Hanging Rock, he was the son of the late Adolph Davis and Fannie (McBride) Davis. He also was preceded in death by one infant son; and one infant brother.

Mr. Davis retired in 1988 after 22 years working for the West Virginia Department of Highways. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He attended the Kirby Assembly of God Church.

Surviving are his wife, Frances (Funk) Davis; four sons, Franklin "Butch" Davis Jr., Garland Davis and Charles Davis, all of Augusta, and Harry Davis, Haines City, Fla.; three brothers, Edgar Davis and Arlie Davis, both of Augusta, and Herbert Davis, East Brunswick, N.J.; five sisters, Sarah Cheshire, Irene Keiter and Aretta Davis, all of Augusta, Pearl Nealis, Scranton, Pa., and Buryl Grey, Berryville, Va.; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends at the McKee Funeral Home, Augusta, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the Kirby Assembly of God Church on Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. William Fout officiating.

Burial will be in the Tearcoat cemetery, Augusta. Graveside military rites will be accorded by the Hampshire County Veterans Association.

Pallbearers will be Greg Davis, Chad Davis, Michael Davis, Andy Davis, Josh Davis and Tony Davis.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Kirby Assembly of God Church, c/o Carolyn Kesner, HC 78, Augusta, WV 26704.

JOHN A. FRANKLIN
KEYSER, W.Va. - John Albert Franklin, 88, of 42 Maryland St., Keyser, died Saturday, Sept. 6, 1997, in Hagerstown, Md.
Born April 21, 1909, in Henry, he was a son of the late Francesco and Marie (Carbacio) Antonetto.

Mr. Franklin was a retired employee of the Celanese Amcelle Corporation, Cumberland, and a salesman for Ludwick's Chevrolet Garage, Keyser. He was a graduate of Keyser High School where he was a founding member of the Keyser High School Band. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in the Aleutian Islands during the Alaskan Campaign from 1944 to 1946.

He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Keyser; Boyce-Houser Post No. 41 American Legion, Keyser, Nancy Hanks Post No. 3518 VFW, Keyser, Loyal Order of Moose No. 662, Keyser, Sons of Italy, Piedmont, and the Democratic Party.

Surviving are his wife, Naomi (Wilt) Franklin; one son, Chris Franklin, Keyser and Hagerstown; one brother, Joseph Antonett, Headsville; one sister, Lorraine Dawson, Baltimore; two grandchildren, Angela Franklin, Morgantown, and Jay Franklin, Keyser; three nephews, Ronald Franklin, York, Pa., Capt. W.P. Franklin, Keyser, and Donald Franklin, Sarasota, Fla.; three nieces, Pamela Ann Wharton, LaVale, Md., Shirley Dawson, Baltimore, and Beverly Thorn, Keyser; and special friend, Tudor.

Friends will be received at the Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Donald D. Coleman officiating.

Interment will be in Queens Point cemetery, Keyser.

Military honors will be accorded at the graveside.

NELLIE L. KIFER
PAW PAW, W.Va. - Nellie Louise Hanrahan Kifer, 82, of Layton, Utah, formerly of Paw Paw, died on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 1997, in Layton.
Born Jan. 25, 1915, in Paw Paw, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Joseph and Erma (Doyle) Hanrahan. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Chester E. Kifer.

Mrs. Kifer was a member of St. Charles Mission, Paw Paw. She was a member of the Paw Paw Volunteer Fire Company Womens Auxiliary, the Harley Bohrer American Legion Post No. 128 Ladies Auxiliary, and Enon Homemakers Club, all in Paw Paw. Eight years ago, she moved to Layton to be with her granddaughter.

Surviving are two granddaughters, Charon A. Mazloomi, Layton, and Sara L. Pietromonaco, Fayetteville, Ga.; one brother, John Joseph Hanrahan, Washington, D.C.; two great-granddaughters; two great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside committal services will be conducted at St. Mary's cemetery, Oldtown, Md., on Thursday, Dec. 4, 1997, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Father John S. Ledford officiating.

Arrangements are being handled by the Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

HARVEY W. "JAKE" BRADLEY
CARPENDALE, W.Va. - Harvey Winfred "Jake" Bradley, 69, of Carpendale, died Friday, Nov. 7, 1997, at his residence.
Born May 28, 1928, in Lonaconing, he was the son of the late Millard Fillmore Bradley and Barbara Ann (Beeman) Bradley.

He also was preceded in death by his step-mother, Marcella Donald Bradley; and one sister, Jennie Donaldson.

Mr. Bradley was a Seaman First Class in the U.S. Navy.

He received his bachelor of science degree from West Virginia University.

Mr. Bradley was retired from Potomac Farms Dairy, where he had been the Plant Manager.

Mr. Bradley was a member of Holy Cross United Methodist Church, where he also belonged to the Men's Bible Class. He was Past President of the Ridgeley Lions Club, where he had been a member for 40 years.

Survivors include his wife, Isabelle (Robinson) Bradley; one daughter, Terry R. Parsons and husband, Rich, Ridgeley, W.Va.; two sons, Kim M. Bradley and wife, Tammy, and Brian P. Bradley and wife Sandi, all of Ridgeley; one brother, Fillmore M. Bradley and wife, Doris, Conneaut, Ohio; two half-brothers, Donald Bradley and wife, Donna, Lonaconing, and William Raymond Bradley and wife, JoAnn, Bowling Green; two sisters, Beatrice Davis, Ridgeley, and Margaret Stafford and husband, Earl, Lonaconing; two half-sisters, Betty Lou Grogg, Lonaconing, and Norma Clark and husband Richard, Barton; and five grandchildren, Jamie Bradley, Travis Bradley, Trevor Bradley, Trent Bradley, and Jennifer Parsons.

Friends will be received at the George-Upchurch Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

The funeral will be conducted in the funeral home on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to either the Memorial Hospital Hospice Unit, 600 Memorial Avenue, Cumberland, MD 21502; or to the Memorial Fund at Holy Cross United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 431, Ridgeley, W.Va. 26753.

BERNARD T. ISER
KEYSER, W.Va. - Bernard T. Iser, 66, of 500 Carskadon Lane, Keyser, died Wednesday, June 25, 1997, at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.
Born April 6, 1931, at Dawson, he was a son of the late Edgar R. and Sadie R. (Ketterman) Iser. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Edgar Iser Jr.; and a sister, Virginia Iser.

Mr. Iser was a retired construction worker employed through Laborers' Union Local 616, Cumberland, Md. A U.S. Navy veteran, he was a Protestant by faith and was a friend to all who knew him.

Surviving are his partner and constant companion, Pauline E. VanMeter, Keyser; one son, Roger Dale Iser and wife Linda, Eckhart, Md.; two daughters, Darlene Butler and husband Gene, Cumberland, and Shirley Iser, Green Spring; four brothers, James Iser, Leroy Iser and wife Clara, and Harry Iser and wife Shirley, all of Rawlings, and Paul Iser and wife Sandy, Silver Spring, Md.; three sisters, Dora Barb, Westernport, Md., Linda Lease and husband James, Rawlings, Md., and Rosemary Hott and husband Fred, BelAir, Md.; a number of nieces and nephews; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted in the funeral chapel on Friday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Baker "Jack" Lease officiating.

Interment will be in the Waxler cemetery, Rawlings.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Hospice Unit at Potomac Valley Hospital, 167 S. Mineral St., Keyser, WV 26726.
