SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Ruth V. Carpenter, 80, of Shepherdstown, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, at Canterbury Center in Shepherdstown.
Born Feb. 12, 1919, in Sharpsburg, she was the daughter of the late Clarence William and Annie Elizabeth Drenner Byrd.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Woodrow Carpenter.
She retired as a school cook from Shepherdstown Elementary School.
She was a member of New Street United Methodist Church, Shepherdstown.
She is survived by two daughters, Patricia A. Pearrell of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Barbara Jean Smith of Strasburg, Va.; a son, Donnie Woodrow Carpenter of Williamsport; two brothers, Theodore Byrd of Shepherdstown and Gardner Byrd of Vienna, Va.; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Elmwood cemetery, Shepherdstown. The Rev. G. Edward Grove will officiate.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg.

Zachary L. Robinson
FALLING WATERS, W.Va. - Zachary Lawrence Robinson, 13, of Falling Waters, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 200, at his home.
Born Nov. 9, 1986, in Frederick County, Md., he was the son of Lawrence Everett and Leeta Michelle Shade Robinson.
He was a student at Hedgesville Middle School.
He was a Protestant.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Samantha Robinson and Jessica Robinson, both at home; two brothers, John Robinson at home, and Lawrence E. Robinson Jr. of Delaware; paternal grandmother, Rosemary Robinson of Martinsburg, W.Va.; maternal grandmother, Barbara Shade of Keymar, Md.; paternal great-grandmother, Nan Feigley of Hagerstown; maternal great-grandfather, Joseph Lee Hummer of Keymar; three aunts and three uncles.
He was preceded in death by his paternal great-grandparents, Everett and Eva Bauserman; paternal grandfather, Lawrence Junior Robinson; maternal grandfather, Howard V. Shade; maternal great-grandmother, Lillian P. Hummer; and an uncle.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. Eddie H. Edmonds will officiate.
Archibald M. Morgan II
RIPPON, W.Va. - Archibald Magill Smith "Bud" Morgan II, 92, of Ripon Lodge Farm, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at Smals Senior Care, Ranson, W.Va.
Born March 8, 1907, in Charles Town, W.Va., he was the son of the late A.M.S. Morgan and Sarah Selby Shepherd Morgan.
He was a 1921 graduate of Charles Town High School, where he starred in football. He attended West Virginia University, Morgan Town, W.Va. and graduated from General Motors Tech School, Flint, Mich.
He was owner and operator of Ripon Lodge Farm and prior was an executive with General Motors Company, for over 41 years.
He was a member of Zion Episcopal Church, Charles Town.
He was a member of Henry Kyd Douglas Camp Sons of Confederate Veterans and Adam Stephens Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution.
He is survived by a daughter, Sarah J. Morgan Snow of Winchester, Va.; a son, A.M.S. Morgan III of Rippon; a sister, Florence Morgan Clark of Portsmount, N.H.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Cary J. Morgan.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Zion Episcopal Church, 300 E. Congress St., Charles Town. The Revs. Jack Weise and John S. Alfriend will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery, Shepherdstown, W.Va.
There will be no visitation.

Ruth A. Miller
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Ruth Ann Miller, 58, of Berkeley Springs, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, at her home.
Born Dec. 25, 1941, in Whitacre, Va., she was the daughter of the late Boyd Raymond and Edna Mae Crouse Waugh.
She attended Mount Garfield School and Berkeley Springs High School, both in Berkeley Springs.
She managed the restaurant at the lodge of Cacapon State Park during the late 1970s and early 1980s. Later, she worked as a cashier at Dugan's Supermarket in Berkeley Springs. She worked as a clerk at the reception desk of Cacapon State Park from the late 1980s until her death.
She was of the Pentecostal faith.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Albert William Miller Sr.; two daughters, Teresa Lynn Bulick and Tina Marie Payne, both of Berkeley Springs; a son, Albert William Miller Jr. of Berkeley Springs; three sisters, Pauline Waugh and Brenda Kay Goodman, both of Berkeley Springs, and Hazel Shade of Great Cacapon, W.Va.; six grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Boyd Wesley Miller, and a brother, Avon Richard Waugh.
Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St. in Berkeley Springs. Pastor Andrew C. Collins Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Greenway cemetery in Berkeley Springs.
The family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral home will be open Monday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. for the convenience of friends.
Harry F. Weaver
RANSON, W.Va. - Harry Franklin Weaver, 97, of Orchard Hills, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, at his home.
Born June 18, 1902, in Middleway, W.Va., he was the son of the late George Lee and Laura Bell Esquarde Weaver.
He retired after many years of service in the Food Service Department at the Charles Town and Shenandoah Downs race tracks, both in Charles Town, W.Va.
He was a Protestant.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Thelma West Carey Weaver; three daughters, Patsy Leslie Pointer of Suitland, Md., Fannie Jean Urkums of Fort Washington, Md., and Sherry Aleta Weaver of Silver Spring, Md.; a son, Daniel Lee Weaver of Martinsburg, W.Va.; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Gerald Franklin Weaver; five sisters, Letha Roman, Caroline Wesco, Charlotte Carey, Bessie Sloan and Virginia Burns; and three brothers, Roy Weaver, Leslie Weaver and Courtney Weaver.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home in Charles Town. The Rev. Sherman Mason and the Rev. Charles Hunter will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens in Martinsburg, W.Va.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Walter O. Price
BOLIVAR, W.Va. - Walter Oval Price, 79, of 307 Potomac Terrace, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson, W.Va.
Born April 21, 1920, in Chattanooga, Tenn., he was the son of the late Walter O. Sr. and Bessie Wallace Price.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Cogle Price.
He was a retired carpenter in the construction industry.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Church of the First Born in Harpers Ferry, W.Va.
He was a former umpire in the Jefferson County Little League, Tri-State Baseball League and Jefferson County Fast Pitch Softball League.
He is survived by a daughter, Edith Kidwiler of West Ridge Hills, W.Va.; two sons, Leroy Longerbeam of Keedysville and Marshall Longerbeam of West Ridge Hills; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Eackles-Spencer Funeral Home, 970 Washington St. in Harpers Ferry. The Rev. David A. Palmer will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Lutheran cemetery in Bolivar.
The family will receive friends today and Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
