MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Jack R. Phenicie Sr., 73, of Martinsburg, died Friday, Dec. 17, 1999, at City Hospital in Martinsburg.
Born March 16, 1926, in Garrett, Pa., he was the son of the late Clay and Hilda Schultz Phenicie.
He retired as a supervisor from Capital Milk Producers.
He served in the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of Johnsontown Bible Church.
He is survived by his wife, Donalda Adams Phenicie; two daughters, Loretta L. Wilkerson of Fruitland, Md., and Gloria J. Johnson of Clarksville, Md.; three sons, Jack R. Phenicie Jr. of Frederick, Md., Thomas D. Phenicie of Woodstock, Va., and Theodore R. Phenicie of Martinsburg, W.Va.; a brother, Dale L. Phenicie of Ellicott City, Md.; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Phenicie and Clay Phenicie II.
Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Johnsontown Bible Church. Pastor Jack Rudy will officiate. Burial will be in Johnsontown Bible Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St. in Martinsburg.

Mary A. Daves
HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - Mary Ann Daves, 72, of Harpers Ferry, died Thursday, Dec. 16, 1999, at her home.
Born Aug. 23, 1927, in Harrisonburg, Va., she was the daughter of the late John Henry and Grace Riddle Manning.
She worked as a hairdresser.
She was a Presbyterian and attended Shannondale Springs Baptist Church.
She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband, Roy Buford Daves; a son, Roy Michael Daves of Rockville, Md.; two grandchildren, Michael Stephen Daves and Madelyn Elizabeth Daves; and a niece.
She was preceded in death by three half sisters, Mabel M. Shifflet, Halsie Blosser and Ollie Shipe; and three half brothers, Pete Manning, Clarence Manning and Ray Riddle.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home in Ranson, W.Va. The Rev. Harold "Porky" Jones Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Edge Hill cemetery in Charles Town, W.Va.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
Catherine O. Wilson
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Catherine O. Wilson, 85, of Berkeley Springs, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1999, at her home.
Born Dec. 2, 1914, in Morgan County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late William and Tennie Bohrer Walters.
She had worked for the National Fruit Co. and Zero Pack, both in Winchester, Va., and retired after 30 years with Cacapon State Park in Berkeley Springs. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Mount Olivet United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.
She was a member of Morgan County Rescue Service Ladies Auxiliary; and worked the polls with the Morgan County Election Board.
She is survived by four daughters, Bonnie J. Spielman, Barbara K. Hess, Debbie A. Cave and Vonnie Rogers, all of Berkeley Springs; three sons, Cecil Wilson of Yakima, Wash., Wayne A. Wilson and Robert Wilson, both of Berkeley Springs; one brother, Willard Walters of Winchester, Va.; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sons, James D. Wilson, Freddie C. Wilson and Donald Lee Wilson; two sisters, Lucy Luttrell and Rachel Walters; and one great-granddaughter.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mount Olivet United Methodist Church, Stotlers Crossroads, Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Glenn F. Stevens Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs; and Saturday at 10 a.m. at the church. The funeral home will be open Friday from 11 a.m.
John W. Shirley Sr.
TOMAHAWK, W.Va. - John Wesley Shirley Sr., 76, of Tomahawk, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1999, at his home.
Born Sept. 10, 1923, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late John Wesley and Sarah Elizabeth Coffinburger Shirley.
He retired from West Virginia Department of Highways; and operated Shirley's Saw-Mill in Tomahawk.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Tomahawk Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Shirley Dove Shirley; a daughter, Connie D. Statler of Tomahawk; three sons, John W. Shirley Jr., Robert W. Shirley and David W. Shirley, all of Tomahawk; a sister, Leota Farmer of Martinsburg, W.Va.; a brother, Roy Shirley of Tamahawk; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St. in Martinsburg.

George W. Sexton
HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - George Willis Sexton, 75, of Harpers Ferry, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1999, at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Oct. 19, 1924, in Russell County, Va., he was the son of the late Martin Luther and Margaret Sexton Sexton.
He retired from the U.S. Department of Labor in Washington, D.C. Previously, he owned and operated Phillips 66 Service Station in Leesburg, Va.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a member of Assembly of God Church in Purcellville, Va.
He was a member of American Legion Post 200.
He is survived by his wife, Icey Gertrude Biggs Sexton, whom he married
in 1946; two daughters, Nelda Ruth Jenkins of Harpers Ferry and Debrah Lynn Sexton of Shepherdstown, W.Va.; three sons, Robert Luther Sexton of Orlando, Fla., Ronald Willis Sexton of Kite, Ga., and Billy Leon Sexton of Leesburg; a brother, Clyde Sexton of Leesburg; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Vernia Hughes; and two brothers, the Rev. Gerald Sexton and James M. Sexton.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home in Charles Town. The Revs. Richard Godrey and Ray James will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens in Martinsburg.
