CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Joseph Robert Davis Sr., 75, of Charles Town, died Saturday, Sept. 4, 1999, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital.
Born March 5, 1924, in Norfolk, Va., he was the son of the late Joseph R. and Grace Estelle Hickman Davis.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Collean L. Davis.
He retired as a civil service fireman from Norfolk Naval Base, after 29 years of service.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Tri State Baptist Church.
He was a member of Charles Town Moose Lodge.
He is survived by a daughter, Robyn Estelle Anderson of Virginia Beach, Va.; two sons, Joseph R. Davis Jr. of Martinsburg, W.Va. and James C. Ogle of Minneapolis; a sister, Shirley Ross of Norfolk; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Williams and Thelma Bryant; and three brothers, Jack S. Davis, Robert Davis and William Davis.
Military graveside services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Rosedale cemetery. Dr. Ray Love will officiate.
The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rosedale Funeral Home, 2060 Rosedale Road, Martinsburg.
Harriet A. Wysong
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Harriet Arnold Wysong, 86, of Martinsburg, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 1999, at City Hospital in Martinsburg.
Born Sept. 23, 1912, in Lewisburg, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Robert and Ella Sweetwood Farrier.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles N. Wysong.
She is survived by two granddaughters, Nancy Baldwin and Linda Flood; four great-grandchildren; three nieces; grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Charles Wysong; and a brother, Robert Farrier.
Services will be today at 3 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church. The Rev. Jack T. Sutor Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery in Shepherdstown, W.Va.

Charles E. Masters
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Charles E. "Pappy" Masters, 80, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, Sept. 4, 1999, at Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg.
Born Jan. 17, 1919, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Charles S. Masters and Eva Heironomus Masters Lewis.
He retired from Veterans Affairs Medical Center after 33 years in the Engineering Department.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army with the 29th Infantry Division in the European Theater.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Inwood, W.Va.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Isabelle Wasson Masters; a daughter, Betty Elliott of Martinsburg; three sisters, Minerva Wisecarver and Dorothy Milburn, both of Martinsburg and Marie Farmer of Winchester, Va.; a brother, Carlton Masters of Inwood; two grandsons; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Tabler; a brother, Robert Masters; and two half-sisters, Eleanor Milburn and Madeline Hoover.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Devin B. Ward and the Rev. Jim Holt will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Hilda Eversole
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Hilda Eversole, 89, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, Sept. 4, 1999, at Canterbury Center in Shepherdstown, W.Va.
Born July 16, 1910, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Holmes and Clara Myers White.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raleigh Eversole Jr.
She was co-owner of Raleigh Restaurant.
She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Jean Tasker of Hagerstown and Juanita Burditus of Martinsburg; a son, Raleigh E. Eversole III of Hedgesville, W.Va.; a sister, Geraldine Mong of Martinsburg; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services will be today at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Al Clipp will officiate. Burial will in Rosedale cemetery.
The family received friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Joseph M. Puffenburger
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Joseph Merl Puffenburger, 74, of Martinsburg, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 1999, at Winchester Medical Center.
Born April 17, 1925, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Joseph C. and Goldie Johnson Puffenburger.
He retired from CSX.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church.
He was a member of Council No. 35 JOUAM in Martinsburg; Martinsburg Lodge No. 120 Loyal Order of the Moose; Berkeley Post No. 14 American Legion; and Newton D. Baker Post No. 896 VFW.
He is survived by a daughter, Wilma D. Timbrook of Winchester, Va.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. William C. Crowe will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.

Eva E. Clark
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Eva Elizabeth Clark, 83, of Charles Town, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 1999, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson, W.Va.
Born April 21, 1916, in Jefferson County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Herbert O. and Mary Jane Furr Ramsburg.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Arthur Clark, in 1977.
She attended Charles Town High School.
She had been employed by Virginia's Gift Shop in Charles Town; Stuck and Alger Pharmacy in Charles Town; Rosen's Department Store in Charles Town; and the Jefferson County Board of Education.
She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Charles Town, where she was a member of Friendly Sunday School Class and United Methodist Women.
She was a member of AARP.
She is survived by two daughters, Betty J. Wahl of Portland, N.D., and Jane E. Clendening of Charles Town; a son, Charles C. "Chuck" Clark of Shenandoah Junction, W.Va.; three sisters, Hilda Guth of Temple Hills, Md., Pauline DeHaven of Summit Point, W.Va., and Florence James of Charles Town; two brothers, W. Glenn Ramsburg of Charles Town and Lee B. Ramsburg of Ellicott City, Md.; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a son, Paul R. Clark; a sister, Jessie Boyd; and a brother, H. Clarence Ramsburg.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home in Charles Town. The Rev. Lee Strickler and Dr. Wyman Hall will officiate. Burial will be in Edge Hill cemetery in Charles Town.
